Days of our Lives is set to feature one of its most enduring stars, Melissa Reeves (Jennifer) in a standalone episode on Tuesday’s upcoming episode of the NBC daytime drama series.

Jennifer in recent months has become addicted to painkillers following the car crash that killed her former love Daniel Jonas (Shawn Christian) and in which she was injured.  Now deep in addiction, Jennifer will try to go cold turkey, but will she succeed?

While she is going through withdrawals look for Matthew Ashford to return in hallucinating “vision” form as the late Jack Deveraux, the love of Jennifer’s life.  Will he be able to get her through the other side of her ordeal?

Watch this week’s NBC promo for DAYS after the jump, as well as our interview with Ashford on the red carpet at the 43rd Annual Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards were he discusses his return, and working with Missy Reeves again.   Then let us know if you are looking forward to seeing Matt and Melissa on-screen together in the comment section below.

Killing off Jack was a big mistake…Jack and Jen shouldve-couldve been the next Tom and Alice!!!

Melissa Reeves storyline is riveting, it’s not shoved in your face, it’s been done in a way that allows this story to stretch out longer, which is true to life, these things, addictions can haunt someone for years! in soap load, a story such as this would move quickly, and I think that since Melissa Reeves is not front-burner like Hope, this allows Melissa to dig deep as a creative artist, and she is knocking her scenes out of the park. Melissa had amazing work with Greg (ex-Eric), those scenes were WOW!!! so good. I loved seeing Jennifer’s hair all messed up and her entering the police station the day Eric was sentenced. Melissa is giving us a side to Jennifer, that yes, in soapload, addiction is overplayed, but she manages to allow us to want to see more of her journey, more of Melissa’s work, and I feel she was robbed for Supporting Actress. Be that as it may, she can submit for next year, I do not expect Jennifer’s problem to go away anytime soon. I loved how the other day, Chad told her that he knows she has a problem, and that he wouldn’t allow her to watch Thomas overnight. It’s scenes like this that allows Melissa to shine. I wasn’t into Jennifer much when she was with Daniel. Though, back in the day, I loved her with Peter, there’s specific stories that allows this underrated actress to excel in her performances, and with the return of Jack (Matthew Ashford), for the Jennifer episode, I bet we’ll get a gem of an episode. It’s Melissa’s year, you go! because you’ve got it, and it’s really great stuff. Melissa for Supporting Actress 2017!

I am with Jeremy on this one. Wholeheartedly!

I dance

I don’t know if I want to watch jack return for just one day. I wanted to see a full reunion. Jack and Jennifer. what a bunch of idiots TIIC are.

Watch, Janet, watch!

He’s appearing in 5 or so episodes, not necessarily back to back. It could be a trial run. If the masses watch, then he may be asked to return in a larger capacity.

I did watch. It was great. When the elevator went down I don’t remember an actual dead body. ihad forgotten when thisw show was can’t miss.I started watchinjg, when I saw it was the Missy show,I stayed, and enjoyed it.

I am having mixed feelings of Days using these stand alone episodes of late. On one hand giving the whole episode to one character does allow the writers to go further into depth and allows the actor time to really act. The stand alone episode with Abby and Ben was great, the stand alone episode featuring Aiden has its moments– and hence the problem, unless really compelling stuff come off the screen like when Sami and EJ had their stand alone episode about his cheating on her, these hour long episodes featuring one character the one show can get dull pretty quick. So I got my fingers cross that this is one of those stand alones that the hour flies by and not one of those that makes you think watching paint dry would be as interesting

Days is doing what Guiding Light did like a decade ago, they had special episodes on Wednesdays focusing on one character or couple.

I guess my feelings are also somewhat ambivalent regarding these stand alone episodes – it makes the flow seem somehow disjointed in a way (of the show in general) but I suppose it’s not hurting a show that moves at a snail’s pace anyway. Don’t misunderstand me, I am aware that soaps move at a slow rate, but this show takes that fact to an extreme.
I like the character of Jennifer, and I liked the players around her – and the scenes were well-acted……..it’s Belle and Phillip that I find exceedingly dull and uninteresting for some reason as well as Belle’s ex-husband.
This show really needs to pick up the pace a bit and write some compelling and original storylines.

I’m not excited having Jack back just for a few episodes. You know how many horrible actors you can get rid of to bring Jack back for good? Especially with the younger set (looking at you Ciara!)

Matt Ashford is exactly what Days needs now. He is brilliant and together with Missy they will bring back that old magic

I don’t really like these standalone eps. Wish Jack was not dead and returned to Salem. His family sure needs him!

Matt and Missy are magic together as Jack & Jennifer, despite the fact that they’ve received such terrible writing over the years (particularly all of the times Jack “died”). It’s like watching Stephen & Mary Beth as Steve & Kayla. Fantastic actors, nuanced performances. Their shared history, their chemistry, and the ways they bring out the best in each other made them such great partners. I really don’t understand why Days doesn’t keep Matt around for good.

‘Heated Rivalry’ Star Franco LoPresti Opens Up About ‘Days of our Lives’ Debut as Dante Vitali

Next week on Monday, September 14 will mark the first appearance in Salem of Franco LoPresti in his new Days of our Lives role of Dante Vitali.

Heated Rivalry fans now LoPresti very well from his part as hockey player Cliff Marleau in the series first season. (No word yet if Cliff appears in season 2).

Now in a conversation with TV Insider, DAYS fans will learn that LoPresti is on the soap for a limited run. No timetable was given.

When LoPresti does burst onto the scene come Monday, Dante makes quite the impact as Franco LoPresti explains. It seems that viewers will first see him in scenes in Monte Carlo at a poker table with none other than Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) and Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier).  However, Dante will come to Salem to talk to the Brady family about his supposed fiancée Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney).

Franco shared, “Dante was born and grew up in Italy and educated at this pretty top-tier English boarding school. He then went on to build his own dynasty in finance, all the while trying to distance himself from the Vitali name (as viewers know Tamara Braun played his cousin Ava Vitali).”

“But at the core of Dante, there’s definitely an old-school quality to him”, continued LoPresti. “He’s super passionate, he’s sincere and incredibly generous, but he’s also someone that you probably shouldn’t underestimate. Loyalty is something that means a lot to him. As Dante enters Salem, I think the audience will get to slowly peel back those layers and discover what’s really driving him. So, I’m excited for Days fans to go on that ride with Dante.”

As it turns out, LoPresti taped his episodes of DAYS starting back in November 2025 which happened to be weeks before Heated Rivalry became a smash hit.

Franco recalled, “It’s so funny because I thought my episodes would air in a month (on Days of our Lives). But I found out it was nine to 10 months and I was like, ‘I gotta wait that long?!’ So, I’ve been biting my nails, trying not to think about it, and I think it’s actually kind of helped because now it’s here and it’s all coming at me from all different angles. I’m nervous. I’m excited, and I just can’t wait to see it all come together. It’s one of the best jobs I’ve ever had for sure.”

In his personal life, Franco just had his first child with wife, actress Emily Alatalo, just a weeks ago on August 23rd when they welcomed their daughter, Stella into the world.

So, looking forward to seeing Franco LoPresti’s debut come Monday? What do you think about the fact that it’s being reported as a limited run? Do you think Dante and Sami have a chance on-screen or off-screen to be a happy couple? What do you really think brings Dante to Salem sans Sami? ‘Days of our Lives’ Head Writers Give Fall 2026 Preview: Marlena and Stefano’s Chess Mystery, The Arrivals of Dante and Sydney, Romance Drama for Sarah and Others

Published

By

Chad and Belle

As summer comes to a close with Labor Day weekend, the former Days of our Lives co-head writing duo of Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford have given their annual fall season preview in episodes taped some 10-11 months ago.

As previously reported this past July, Ryan Quan returned to Days of our Lives and is now co-head writing the show with Ford, while Cwikly is now a consultant. The new co-head writing teams stories will not be seen till late spring/early summer 2027.

So for now, the stories pick up from where we left off with Cwikly and Ford promising via TV Insider, “Fall in Salem is full of twists and turns and secrets and surprises. Dots connect in unexpected ways as seemingly unrelated threads converge.”

Deidre Hall

CHECKMATE?

In one of the top mystery’s, Marlena is still having troubling memories and she will have another one on the Monday, September 7 episode. Meanwhile, her daughter Belle (Martha Madison) has gotten very close to Chad DiMera (Conner Floyd) and as pictured here, the two smooch while in Italy searching for answers to the chess set that Stefano DiMera gifted th the late John Black and Marlena (Deidre Hall) that has some significance.

The head scribes share, “The (chess board) mystery and its fallout are central to the fall stories. Chad and Belle follow the clues to a discovery that changes both of their families, and Salem, forever. Marlena worries that their investigation/the chess set may be a Pandora’s box that has been opened. And she is right…”

Newcomers are also the order of the day for Cwikly and Ford, this fall. We have already seen the debut as Brandon Butler as Mason Whitfield, and next week you can add as previously reported Sydney Malakeh on the Thursday September 1o episode as Sydney DiMera, followed by the the Monday, September 14 arrival of Franco LoPresti as Dante Vitali.

Philip, Belle and Sydney

Paula and Jeanne Marie expressed on the incoming Dante, “The arrival of a stranger who will set the whole town on its ear. The character has several strong ties to the current canvas and impacts many storylines.” What will Dante be up to? We know Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) had mentioned in 2025 she got engaged to the man, but that was off-screen.

LOVE THE ONE YOU’RE WITH OR THE ONE YOU WANT?

In the romance department, the triangle between Brady/Sarah/Xander heats up with a very conflicted Sarah (Linsey Godfrey). The head writers reveal, “When Sarah faces attacks personally and professionally, Xander (Paul Telfer) and Brady (Eric Martsolf) work together to help and protect her. Sarah’s new love for Brady is challenged by her lingering love for Xander. Xander risks everything for Sarah.”

In addition look for, “Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) and Philip (John-Paul Lavoiser) to draw closer as he tries to save the family company and home.”

Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) will also be returning at some point this fall and she won’t be alone. Who might she bring with her? And from the looks of the Peacock promo for next week’s DAYS, someone is wearing Stefano’s ring around their finger, but who … and how does it all tie in this fall?

So, what do you think about some of the highlights coming up this fall on Days of our Lives per the series head writers? Does anything float your boat or pique your interest? If so, what? Let us know via the comment section. But first, check out the action next week on DAYS in the promo entitled “Bag of Tricks” below.
