Nathalie Kelley Says She Is Not Returning To DYNASTY For Season 2

In a surprise admission during an interview with E Online, one of the core members of CW’s Dynasty reboot, Nathalie Kelley revealed she is not filming season 2 of the primetime sudser when it resumes filming next month.

Kelley plays Blake’s (Grant Show) wife, Cristal, who ended the season one cliffhanger in a precarious predicament after being shot by Claudia Blaisdel (Brianna Brown), while the Carrington mansion went up in flames, as well.

Kelley tells E! “I won’t be returning for Season 2.”  She went on to say as of the fate of Cristal:  ” Is it a coma? Is it death? … I actually don’t know. But I know that I’m not going to Atlanta in July, that I’m staying (in Los Angeles) … I’ve got my life back.”

Dynasty returns for its all-new season beginning on Friday, October 12th.

So, disappointed to hear there will be no Nathalie on season 2 of Dynasty?  How do you think they will write Cristal out of the story:  Coma … her body found will not be found … or is she truly dead?  Share your theories in the comment section below.

I’m hoping it is body not found or coma and they recast her eventually. I may be one of the minorities, but I rather enjoyed Nathalie Kelley’s portrayal of Cristal! Obviously she wasn’t happy so they could always recast her with a name star! Not sure who though!

I am so bummed about this. Crystal was the heart of the show and Nathalie did a fine job with the role. I think this is a HUGE mistake and now I’m much less inclined to watch Season 2.

Agreed! The CW made a huge mistake removing Kelley from the cast. I am painfully trying to get through this second season.

Haven’t watched 1/666th of a second of this Dynasty reboot (thought it was a bad idea, as opposed to the Dallas reboot which built on the foundation of the original main characters and introduced a new generation)…. but even so, it doesn’t seem it would have even a shred of credibility as “Dynasty” without a Cristal character.

They should get Paula Abdul to play her…lol

Coma or Plastic Surgery from the burns!

Cristal will be burned in the fire and put into a medically induced coma, then sent away for facial reconstruction and come back as a new actress. In the meantime, Alexis will sink her claws into Blake and then the all new Cristal will return to fight for her man.

THIS is bizarre… Count me in as a fan of Nathalie’s work as well as the reboot in general. I’m curious to hear the whole story. “I’ve got my life back.” Just what did they do to her?!?! You can’t have Dynasty without Cristal (or Krystle)! The producers have their work cut out for them…

Just “peeked” in on this thread. I don’t watch Dynasty but I know this actress from the The Vampire Diaries. “Got my life back?” Seems she wasn’t happy on the show of being away from her home.

Hi, Jamesj! 😉

Thanks for your reply, Rebecca! I didn’t know much about her previous work. But as someone who worshipped (figuratively!) Linda Evans, Nathalie did a great job! Take care, Friend!

Already jumping ship? Well, if she wasn’t happy (as her comment seems to imply) than good for her. As for “Dynasty”, I’ll miss her in the role but get over it soon enough. Recast and continue.

It hurts me that Nathalie won’t be returning for season 2, I love every role she played as Cristal

Its not going to be the same without Nathalie kelly playing Crystal. I’m not going to watch it. NOT GOING TO WATCH IT NOW. What a mistake she was great. (Pie)
