OLTL's Michael Easton talks Liam's Paternity Reveal & Prospect Park's One Life!

Finally! And we mean finally, John McBain will learn that after a year or more of being denied his child that he is the bio-dad of cute little baby Liam, and according to TV Guide  it all happens on next Tuesday’s, November 15th episode of One Life to Live!

TVG chatted with Michael Easton (John) and not only talked how the reveal goes down, but the future of Jolie, and his decision to continue with One Life when it moves online via Prospect Park.  Here are a few excerpts below!

Easton on how the truth about little Liam is revealed “For a story that got dragged out, it’s resolved pretty quickly. I had nightmares of people on rooftops, and guns flashing and searchlights and rain, with Brody becoming a desperate, crazed lunatic when the truth came out. We’ve done that on our show before. A lot. Instead, they resolve it really nicely between the characters, I think.”

Easton on if the Liam reveal will finally bring John and Natalie together: “They’ve contrived some circumstances that once again keep him and Natalie at arm’s length, and in the middle is Liam. I don’t think two people who’ve been through all this would let that happen. They’d be spending an enormous amount of time together, but the story is what it is.”

Easton on his decision to put his name to Prospect Park’s version of OLTL online: “No one asked for my blood on the dotted line or anything like that. They basically said, “If you’re unhappy after a period of time, take off.” Obviously, they haven’t yet made their deal with the union but if this is to continue I want to be a part of it. We were all so down when the network cancelled us but this new team came in with really positive energy and enthusiasm. They feel what we do is good and worth saving. Not only that but they feel they can improve the show. There are so many jobs at stake. You’d have to be a bit of a Scrooge to not to jump in and support that. Prospect Park has been getting a lot of pessimism and maybe even some grief, from the establishment at the unions and they needed some of us to chip in and support this thing. If it helps move things forward, I was happy to step up. They’re not out of the woods yet, but they’re bright, amazing guys. ”

So are you ready for John to finally be reunited with his son, after so many people came between him and Liam?  Let us know!

You have to be kidding me—–after ALL this waiting, John and Natalie wont get back together??!!! They are killing me!!!

I am glad that Michael Easton (and all of the others) have signed with Prospect Park. I loved Michael’s comments about PP!

Actually No. I find them to be one of the worst dysfunctional couples on daytime and them reuniting is why I won’t continue to watch the show. They don’t work and I don’t even think they have chemistry. After all she has done with all the lying I don’t see how John would want her at all. She has proven over and over that she can’t tell the truth. Not only that, but these two can never communicate. I don’t want Natalie to get what she wants in the end. She doesn’t remotely deserve that. And who on earth would… Read more »

I actually agree. John and Natalie bring out the absolute worst in each other. I agree they are dysfunctional and cannot communicate. The only reason John was even marrying her the first time was because she was his baby mama. I hope they move them on to new love interests.

John is a jerk! He didn’t want Liam when he thought he wasn’t his but now he is his, he wants him back! Brody loved Liam throughout, when he was his father & when he wasn’t! I feel bad for him!

I have and always will love Michael Easton’s acting, any other of his creative endeavors.Melissa Archer cut her acting teeth on OLTL and she has gotten better through the years. and I like her . I’ve tried to like them as a couple, but there is just no chemistry between them – they just don’t seemto have anything going, and quite frankly their interaction leaves me cold. Lately there seems to be more of a crackle or pop between them because of baby Liam who ties them together. But their lack of spark is especially noticeable after you watch Michael interact… Read more »

I am pleased that John will finally be allowed to be Liars daddy.
I am going be very unhappy if Natalie and John don’t get to be together. They love each other and should be together. Enough fooling around, please…

So glad ME is making the move to Prospect Park. Pulling for John and Natalie to get together again soon. They’ve been through so much and I’d rather see them in each others arms than at arm’s length. The sheer physicality of them together as a couple is a visual and emotional treat. Two of the best looking actors in daytime.

I’m no fan of John McBain’s – but I sure am a fan of Michael Easton. The man has class and he has smarts. And he has loyalty to the people he works with.

I don’t see it getting any better than that. I might have to start liking his character more!

I am so happy that this storyline will finally come to a head. I cannot wait to see John and Liam together, when the true paternity is finally out in the open on Tuesday. I am sure there will be very heartwarming scenes between the two (the baby who plays Liam is so adorable, and he can truly pass for Michael’s son, imo). I also look forward to John and Natalie reuniting, as they do really understand eachother and work well as a couple, despite her misgivings. Of course they will drag John and Natalie’s reunion out a bit longer,… Read more »

After all that the viewers have invested, we really do need for John and Natalie to finally get together. Brody has shown his lack of character, and Natalie should be able to see this. The stories are really being dragged out, also with the Gigi fiasco. If we are to be switched to internet, please let these two story lines at least, be resolved before. There will be many more scenarios that can work from these resolutions.

The unions are giving Prospect Park grief? Where the hell were the unions when Disney was treating their members so badly? What did they do then? I suggest they stand down, play nice and support their members………………. Just sayin’………………. Oh. And by the way, I’m a proud member of a union who actually cares and fights for me, so I can say this.

I really like what Michael had to say about PP…..wish the people over at AMC would follow suit, but anyway… Now, this whole John & Natalie situation…..I don’t know. I have been screaming at my tv for God knows how long, because this story has been driving me crazy, and I have been wanting them to get back together….but here recently, I must say that I agree with what someone stated before. I don’t know that I want them together anymore….they don’t communicate. I mean, neither one of them can say, I Love You….how sad is that? I don’t know… Read more »

So happy that John finally gets his son. Not so happy that after a year Jolie will still not be together. I’m sure it will happen soon. Love OLTL and would follow it no matter where it went. Still hoping Roger (Todd) signs.

I am thrilled that John learns Liam is HIS son. I am one of Jolie’s biggest supporters and really was.t them to be together and HAPPY! But I think John needs to FIGHT for his family. Woo Natalie are and allow them both to learn to trust each other completely with UNCONDITIONAL love!

I cannot wait for John and Natalie to reunite and raise their beautiful kid Liam. These three are a match made in heaven. This show would be nothing without Michael and Melissa doing their magic together! Let’s hope that the writers do them justice that they so well deserve!

Thanks Michael Fairman for posting this interview!

All My Children and Guiding Light Vet, Gil Rogers Passes Away

Gil Rogers, who played one of the all-time most dastardly villains in soaps on All My Children and was the on-screen father to the one and only Reva Shayne (Kim Zimmer) on Guiding Light, has died at age 87.

News came via his daughter, Amanda Rogers on her Facebook page, relating that Gil passed away on March 2nd.

The actor had played Tad (Michael E. Knight) and Jenny’s (Kim Delaney) father, Ray Gardner on All My Children from 1977-1978 making multiple appearance though 2001, then later as Hawk Shayne on Guiding Light from 1985-1992 making multiple appearance through 2009.

Gil also appeared on Another World, Search for Tomorrow and The Doctors.

In her post, Amanda wrote: “Gil Rogers died this morning. As you all know, my dad was awesome. He was my best friend, confidant, mentor and just an awesome dad. He came to pick me and  Charlotte Whitaker Zdanowski up at clubs at 2AM in our teens to keep us safe, and drank bourbon with me every day since moving out here 2 years ago. He was welcoming and kind, funny and gregarious, a shameless flirt and a fierce protector. He loved his dinners with grandkids and endured animated movies and discussions about pokemon. And I miss him so terribly already. He died in his sleep, without pain or fear. I am so grateful to have had such a great father and to have spent these past 2 years with him every day.”

Check out this vintage scene below from All My Children where Ray played by Rogers blows up the Martin house.

Now share your remembrances of Gil’s performances and along with condolences for his family in the comment section.

Chris Harrison In First Interview Since ‘Bachelor’ Controversy Says He Wants To Be Back as Host; But GMA’s Michael Strahan Says Apology was a “Surface Response”

Thursday’s Good Morning America featured the highly-publicized first interview with ‘Bachelor’ franchise host and executive producer, Chris Harrison, since he stepped away from the show following his controversial remarks on current Bachelor contestant Rachel Kirkconnell, amid the airing of a season that has seen the first-ever Black male lead of the reality series, Matt James.

Speaking with GMA co-host, Michael Strahan, Harrison spoke of remarks he made during his interview with ex-Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay on Extra that sparked the firestorm.

Harrison admitted the words he spoke to Lindsey were “in a manner that perpetuates racism,” adding “I am an imperfect man I made a mistake and I own that. I believe that mistake doesn’t reflect who I am or what I stand for.”

The incident began when photos surfaced on social media of Kirkconnell at an Old South-themed party that she attended back in 2018, along with allegations she “liked” many Instagram posts that were racist in nature, and what many viewed as Harrison coming to her defense in this time of what he then called “cancel culture”.

On GMA, Chris expressed: “Antebellum parties are not OK,  Past, present, future, knowing what that represents is unacceptable.”

He also apologized to Lindsay, who had to shut down her Instagram account because of viral vitriol being sent her way over the incident with Harrison, adding this message to the public, “Anyone who is throwing hate towards Rachel Lindsay, please stop. It’s unacceptable.”

As to how he is trying to make amends, Harrison shared: “I made a mistake and I own that, Racism, oppression, these are big dynamic problems and they take serious work. I am committed to that work.”  The longtime Bachelor host then announced he is working with race educator Dr. Eric Dyson who has taught him about the idea of “counsel, not cancel”.

Chris says he plans to be back hosting the reality-dating series, expressing:  “I plan to be back. I want to be back.  This interview is not the finish line. There is much more work to be done.”

Following the exclusive, Michael Strahan described his conversation with Chris Harrison stating: “His apology is his apology, but it felt like it got nothing more than a surface response on any of this. Obviously, he is the man who wants to clearly stay on the show, but only time will tell if there is any meaning behind his words.”

So, what do you think of Chris Harrison’s responses during his first interview since the controversy? Should he return to hosting The Bachelor franchise? Comment below. But first check out his GMA exclusive.

General Hospital

GH’s Wes Ramsey Makes Statement on Criticism, Social Media, and Professionalism

General Hospital’s Wes Ramsey, who portrays polarizing character, Peter August on the ABC daytime drama series, responded to a recent take on his role from cast mate, Tristan Rogers (Scorpio) when a video made its way through social media.

The video was from a Cameo appearance, where Rogers offered an assessment of the Peter August storyline and expressed that while he knows Ramsey is a strong actor, he felt he was “wrong for the character” being that Peter was the son of the evil Faison played by Anders Hove.

Rogers also came to the defense of Ramsey and shared: “Don’t be too hard on Wes Ramsey. He’s got himself into a horrible storyline, and the storyline is the fault of the show. What they’ve literally done is they’ve painted themselves into a corner, and they don’t know how to get out of it.”

Currently, Peter’s story is front and center on GH with his wedding to Maxie (Kirsten Storms), and the fallout from all of the character’s dirty deeds.

Now Ramsey took to his Instagram account to address what transpired and his thoughts on the perils of social media, professionalism and acting, expressing: “Actors are storytellers, shapeshifters, chameleons. We’re also in the business of cultivating trust bc that’s how the best work is brought to life. We have to trust our imaginations, our instincts. We have to trust our fellow actors, because without them, there’s no scene to play. In the collaborative efforts of bringing any show to life, we also have to trust our directors each day to steer the arch of our story (like a conductor with a symphony) & trust our writers who are tasked with composing the symphonies we play out. I came up in a world of classical theater, where trusting the play, text, story is essential to the tightrope balancing act of making magic.  You will never hear me critique (on any public platform) the people responsible for the creative opportunities I enjoy each day. Without the trust of my writers, directors, producers & fellow actors, it would be impossible to live out my dreams. My job (& my only job) is to bring fearlessness, playfulness & passionate conviction to what has been created for me. My aim is to stretch myself (beyond the limits of where I think my boundaries may lye) each time I’m entrusted with material that allows those boundaries to be tested.

Every actor must believe they are the right person for their part or they will never achieve their potential, let alone surpass it. I was raised a gentleman & have two wonderful parents to thank for that, however, my polite personality (while rendering me easy to get along with on set) should have little bearing on my caliber of performance nor my castability as a professional.  I am leery of the pitfalls of social media & believe there are advantages to maintaining some mystery (even as a public figure) but I will always defend & protect what I hold dear (my job & my career) when they are publicly challenged, especially by those closest to me, whom I love & respect. Please know I bear no ill will. As a society, we are all still learning the full ramifications of living in an internet dominated culture. To all my many fans out there who offer encouragement & support, I hear you & am grateful for you. I’m having a blast… 🙂. Onward we go.”
