Peter Reckell On A Possible Return To DAYS To His Fans: "You Deserve Better Than What They Have Done To Bo!"

One of the most popular and beloved performers in soaps of all-time, former Days of our Lives superstar and icon, Peter Reckell (Bo Brady) was up on his Twitter account Tuesday evening addressing questions and comments from his many followers and legions of fans who have asked what he has been up to of late.
They also asked, if Peter will ever return to Days of our Lives to finish out Bo’s story, since currently long time viewers are upset and disgruntled on how the character is being perceived and written-off the canvas in Reckell’s absence, with Bo not coming back to Salem to be with Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and little Ciara (Lauren Boles)!
Reckell sent out this series of tweets on the matter to his fans: “Going back to Days, I don’t think that will ever happen as a long term commitment. Going back to close out Bo’s story in a respectful way??? I would do that for you. You deserve better then what they have done to Bo. You have been very faithful and dedicated for years, decades! Not sure what kind of story line could happen, I haven’t watched the show. You would have better ideas. Time to contact the show.”
So will DAYS finally try to bring Peter back to give some sort of conclusion to Bo and Hope’s story that makes sense? The June 22 episode of Days of Our Lives reminded us all of why Deidre Hall is iconic in the role of Dr. Marlena Evans. Here we are 50 years later, and Marlena is still the heroine of the long-running soap opera, and Deidre remains one of the most most recognizable names in the history of soaps.
To pay tribute, and to look back at the life and times of Marlena, the story starts with Marlena flipping through a photo album of her with John (the late Drake Hogestyn) over the years. As she misses him dearly, she gets a knock on the door and its none other than John’s son, Paul Narita (Christopher Sean).
With Andrew (Colton Little) in Salem working on a case, he sits down with Marlena, who says she can’t believe its been fifty years since she first arrived in Salem! Cue: Deidre’s first scenes on DAYS when she finds Mickey Horton (the late John Clarke) playing chess against himself inside the mental institution she worked.

THE FLASHBACKS OF MARLENA’S LIFE
From there, viewers definitely got the cliff notes version of the history of Marlena and entrenched within them, some of the biggest moments in Deidre’s enduring run.
Paul thinks he is looking at 70s, and early 80s Marlena while going through her scrapbook, but he is actually looking at her twin, Samantha (Andrea Hall). Cue: when Marlena confronted Samantha about impersonating her, and then later getting a call on her radio show from the Salem Strangler (Jack Coleman as Jake Kostichek) who killed Samantha thinking it was Marlena.
In the present, Belle (Martha Madison) has arrived at this time to meet up with Paul, unaware of this trip down memory lane. She wants to go over the findings in the chess board mystery Stefano willed to Marlena and John, in private with him, since Marlena previously said she wanted nothing to do with it.
Back to the history lesson, Marlena speaks highly of Don Craig and even though their marriage didn’t work out, she could find a path forward with the new love her life, Roman Brady. (Wayne Northrop however is never shown, possibly to keep the story focused on John as Roman for confusion sakes?)
Paul sees a photo of a young Carrie (Christie Clark) in the album and Marlena says she was such a godsend after losing her baby. In fact, Marlena says caring for Carrie prepared her for her having and raising her own twins, Eric and Sami. Cue: The twin visiting Marlena in the hospital.
JOHN AND MARLENA’S LOVE CONQUERED ALL
Then, in a way to get through and incorporate the wild storylines only Marlena could have been in, she tells Belle and Paul, she has been through so much in her life, how lucky she was to find John, and some of the most unbelievable experiences no one could imagine. Cue: Marlena possessed by the devil and levitating from the bed. Next, John confronting Marlena being the Salem Stalker, where she admits she killed Alice Horton, pretends she needs help, then pulls a gun on her beloved John!
The comment is made by Paul and Marlena, that she literally has been to hell and back and she could not have survived were it not for her beloved John. Cue the big emotional highpoint clips; The Pier Scene! Marlena steps out of the fog when John sees her from a distance. After believing she was dead for four years, here she was before him in one of the greatest reunions in a soap opera love story in history. What followed were other times of the life of times of Jarlena.

MARLENA’S ‘GIFT’ FROM STEFANO HAS A NEW CLUE
When Marlena makes a brief exit to the other room, Belle fills in Paul on the chess set Stefano left her mother and the photo of the Lire. Paul said he will investigate. Marlena comes back into the room and overhears, and says to promise her if things get dangerous he will back off, she does not want anyone hurt by Stefano’s games.
As the episode comes to a conclusion, it’s just Belle and Marlena going through the photo album giggling about 70s hairstyles and all the memories. Belle speaks on the impact Marlena has had in everyone’s lives, and that she is both the heart of their family and the heart of Salem.
An end card comes up acknowledging Deidre Hall’s 50th anniversary as Marlena, and we fade to black.

If you have ever tuned-in to the soap opera genre over the last 50 years, and witnessed some of the greatest romances, drama, classic and outlandish storylines of all-time, you would have seen Deidre Hall smack dab in the middle of it as longtime Salem heroine, Dr. Marlena Evans.
It was 50 years on this date, June 21, 1976 that Hall first appeared on DAYS on NBC which was its home for 57 years before it moved to its current streaming platform on Peacock in September of 2022.
In Hall’s first episode she was introduced as a psychiatrist treating Mickey Horton (John Clarke) at Bayview Sanitarium after he suffered a complete mental breakdown. Mickey learned that his brother Bill Horton (Edward Mallory) was the biological son of Mike Horton (Wesley Eure) with his wife Laura (Susan Flannery) and that he had been lied to for years and years. From that moment on, the rest is television and soap opera history. Days of Our Lives put Hall front and center.

There were so many heartbreaking and shocking story twists involving the beloved Marlena. One of the first was the historic crib death of baby DJ (Don Jr.) in 1980, Marlena’s infant son with Don Craig (Jed Allan). The story had never been told on daytime television and Hall’s performances received accolades from TV critics to fans when Deidre received thousands of letters from grieving mothers who had gone through the same thing in their own lives.
DAYS also brought Deidre’s twin sister, Andrea Hall Lovell to the show as her on-screen sister Samantha, who had a grudge and even locked Marlena up in a sanitarium and took her place! Fast-forward and in 1982, DAYS launched the Salem Strangler story where everyone believed Marlena was his next victim, only it turned out to be Samatha. Jake Kositchek (played by Jack Coleman) was revealed to be the actual serial killer.
Later, Deidre would assume the role of Marlena’s look-alike, Hattie Adams in 2004, once played by her sister, Andrea. Over the years, Hattie has come back to Salem and caused trouble giving Hall a chance to play a different type of character, then the always upstanding Marlena.

THE LOVES OF MARLENA
Deidre Hall struck gold with all her leading men: from the late Jed Allan, to Wayne Northrop as Roman Brady, and of course, her enduring love story with the late John Black played by the iconic Drake Hogestyn. In fact, Marlena’s 1986 wedding to John (who was believed to be Roman at the time) remains a favorite of fans to this day.

While the list is long, here are several that were some of the memorable during Deidre’s five decades in Salem!
The Possession (1994- 1995)
Considered one of the most ambiguous, outlandish and unforgettable story arcs in soap opera history, then Days of Our Lives head writer, James Reilly went there! Marlena was possessed by the devil! That included; the demonic eyes, hissing at father John (Black) the priest, morphing into creatures, and the classic levitating in her bed! It became a cultural phenomenon and cemented Deidre Hall’s status as a daytime television legend. Just ask Ryan Gosling!

The Affair with John Black (1993)
John and Marlena’s forbidden love could not be denied and they had passionate affair, while she was still married to the real Roman. Problem was her daughter, Sami (Alison Sweeney) caught her mother having sex with John on a desk that changed Sami forever.
The Salem Stalker Mystery (2003-2004)
In a shocker, Marlena was revealed to be a serial killer who bumped off several Salem favorites residents who were all alive on the island of Melaswen (spelled “New Salem” backward). Turns out, she was manipulated and gaslighted by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) to do the “killings” and had no memory of her actions.
The Pier Scene (1991)
This remains Michael Fairman TV’s all-time favorite Deidre Hall moment, which featured some of the best acting in the storied careers of both Hall and Drake Hogestyn.
In the story, a presumed-dead Marlena returns after four years. One foggy night on the pier, John is alone, and Marlena steps out of the fog to reveal herself, and is reunited with the love of her life. You can watch it any year, any decade, and in any moment, and it will have you reaching for the hankies again and again. (best music score fo a soap scene of all-time too!)

Kristen’s Secret Room Reveal (1997)
Marlena was caught in Kristen Blake’s (Eileen Davidson) elaborate web of lies, when she was held hostage in a secret wine cellar/room until John managed to track her down, leading to an iconic on-screen reunion. The classic catfight between Hall and Eileen Davidson was one for the ages.
It should be noted that Maison Blanche, Queen of the Night, Possession, Aremid and Lady in a Cage were all a part of classic DAYS storyline and all featured Hall at the epicenter of it from 1993-1996.
THE RECENT YEARS OF MARLENA
In recent years, DAYS brought back the possession 2.0 storyline under then head writer Ron Carlivati in 2021 where the devil leapt back in Marlena after taking advantage of a frail Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes)
In 2025, viewers watched the end of the love story of John and Marlena, as John succumbed to injuries sustained in an explosion saving a vial of medication needed to bring Bo (Peter Reckell) back to life. Marlena has been a widow on-screen since June of 2025 as Hall as portrayed the good doctor struggling with her grief and to move on with her life since his death.

One story that never goes away is Stefano DiMera’s (the late Joe Mascolo) obsession with Marlena, his “Queen of the Night.” Even in death, Stefano is toying with her from the great beyond with the mysterious chess set and the missing “pawn,” that he had gifted John and Marlena in his will. The mystery is currently unfolding on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives.

Al Calderon Reflects on ‘Major Chapters’ Coming to an End on ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘Brilliant Minds’
It’s been a bittersweet time for Al Calderon. The talented actor/singer/songwriter has watched from his vantage point to roles he loved so much come to their conclusion for different reasons.
In a heartfelt message posted to his Instagram story on Saturday, Calderon took a moment to share how grateful he was for the opportunity to play Javi Hernandez on Days of Our Lives, and nurse Nico Silva this year on NBC’s second season of Brilliant Minds. Currently, Brilliant Minds has two more episodes that will air on June 24 and the series finale on July 1.
Calderon expressed, “As I sit here reflecting on this lovely Saturday afternoon over the last two years of my life, I have two major chapters closing that have been part of my life every day for the last two years. We have Brilliant Minds. Our last episodes are wrapping up, and then my last scenes aired yesterday as me as Javi on Days of Our Lives.

“I’m just unbelievably grateful for the chance and the opportunity to be a part of something so much larger than me,” continued Al. “I (will) love Days of Our Lives forever, my family. Thank you for supporting me and supporting my decision to take the leap of faith and believe in myself and, and tell other stories. You know, it’s never goodbye. It’s always ‘see you later’ to me and just leaving with love and leading with love.”
Al concluded with a special mention to some very important people, the fans: “Thank you to the fans and the support from everyone, the lovely messages. So this next chapter, hopefully it’s not a dragon, hopefully it’s a gold coin.”

Calderon’s journey on-screen on Days of Our Lives began in October of 2024 and concluded this month. In one of his last appearances Javi was asking a favor from Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) before bumping into his ex, Leo (Greg Rikaart). In story, Javi has a new romance with Gus (Michael Ocampo), while fighting his feelings for Leo. The role of Javi will be played starting on June 30 by Jacob Martinez who takes over the role.
NBC decided to cancel the Brilliant Minds, after it split up the airing of its second season which began in the fall of September of 2025 and the back-half started airing after a long break this past May. Calderon joined the medical drama staring Zachary Quinto for the new season, which sadly was its last.

Why exactly did he leave in the first place anyway? I was never quite sure and thought it was like AliSweeney just wanting a break.
He wanted to spend more time with his family and I think displeasure in diminished screen time. He said like when he first came on Days, the show was having story with younger actors.
Such a bad clause put into place so many years ago on the heels of Luke and Laura..Young Young Young…and half naked..and constantly rolling around on each other…PLEASE..Who makes the decision that TedCorday is TOO OLD to know what’s relevant..HIM!!!

I would write your role that you had a case that took you out of town because you had to go undercover. Now you have came back to Salem to prove that Aiden killed his wife and he told his son that she was the one who killed herself because she couldn’t go on. so he wouldn’t go to prison and wouldn’t get in trouble. But when you came back to Salem you found out the man that you have edvents on is with your facyface.So you have to save her and Cera from this coniving man.So you go sweep Facyface off her feet once again and you get to a safe spot with Cera and tell her the truth about Aiden and she tells you about her suspension. Then you go arrest Aiden and take Clade down with him you show edvents about Clade killing his wife as well and that Jordan is at fault for killing her mom and you have proof that Clade convinced Jordan that she’s the one who killed her mom but not true and you prove that Clade was raping Jordan also and they both are proven guilty and go to prison and you and Fancyface and Cera go away happily ever.
He left because the writers screwed him over. They wanted to make him a part-time bench player, and it had nothing to do with money. He wants to act, they didn’t want him, so he left…
That sounds about right because he didn’t seemed pleased in the article by his tone. I had no idea the show was feeling as if the character had been written and no more could be done. Age does not make a character less interesting..people want to see how characters progress through the years. Otherwise why not name it The Young and Those Old People??
I would like the producers to bring Bo back to either stay or end the relationship he has with Hope, so they can move forward with her role without her cheating on Bo.. He is a great actor and I really hated to see him leave. Please bring him back to give us ALL closure.
I agree bring Bo back for closure. We love him he owes his fans that also I agree so Hope want cheat on Bo. He’s the only one she has loved on the show
Since Bo and Hope have been together since they were teenagers, I think something more fitting should happen. Even if you let him die, it would be better than him just deserting his family. I don’t think Bo would ever do this because he was too devoted to Hope and his family. I think, as viewers, we could accept this better. I don’t think Hope would ever cheat on Bo as long as he is alive. So please let us all have some closure!!!!!!
The dilemma Peter Reckell has experienced is ocurring more and more to veteran cast members on most daytime SOAPs. The networks,writers and producers are only focussed on storylines that attract younger fans. Heres the problem with this mentality and the problem with current SOAPS in general. They forget that new fans (who end up being loyal fans – not the throw away fans that follow one stotyline until they get bored then disappear like the ratings) are attracted to good storylines that involve multi-layers and complex twists and turns that include the entire clan – not just the youngest members! The Bradys and Hortons vs the DiMeras and Kiriakises. When was the last time we saw the senior actors interacting with the younger ones in a real storyline that lasted months to conclude? When was the last time we were screaming at the Larry Welch’s while Alice helped Bo and Hope rendezvous in a long lost cavern that only Alice would have known about? Marginalising the senior actors minimizes the plots and stops veteran fans who enjoyed the fruits of past spellbinding scripts from keeping their interest in the show and falling in love with new characters. The shows have failed because they have pulled up their anchors and now the senior actors, like the senior fans, are set adrift. Lost in the perpetual manotany of reality TV.
I’ve watched DOOL literally since it began and I was a kid (Mom watched). I’m sad to see Corday think he has to create “fresh, young” characters by the droves lately, and write off or send off the still viable older characters who made and have kept the show on the air all these years like, Bo, Hope, John, Marlena, Maggie, Victor (yes I know Aniston is retiring but his sarcastic wit was awesome), rather he stayed than “Stefano” tired of the Phoenix after all these years. Roman, Abe, even Grandma Brady as the new Matriach since Alice’s demise. Bo and Hope, like John and Marlena can take the reigns as the solid yet beloved duos with interesting story lines. Bring back Sean D. & Belle, bring Patch back and make him and Kayla a couple again. THESE KIDS NEEDS ADULTS AND FAMILIES in the story line. Corday needs to understand most “young” viewers ( high school, college, etc) don’t watch soaps! My kids don’t. Even when I did, they didn’t. They’re on the computer, or DVR-ing cable shows to watch later, etc so you trying hard to pander to the wrong audience while losing your LONG TIME loyal viewers.
Amen to both Elena V and Aylee for telling it like it is!!!! My sentiments exactly!!! I too have been watching from the very beginning, as did my mother, grandmother, and my three sisters. We were just kids at the time, and Mom and Grandma are gone now, but my sisters and I don’t miss a day (thanks to DVR’s, because we do have busy lives). Of course we love to follow the story lines of all the young characters, but let’s not forsake our older generation. It was wonderful to bring Marlena and John back, they were sorely missed. Everyone’s family and friends are made up of different generations. That’s what makes life so interesting. And it’s what makes DOOL interesting!!!
You mention Luke and Laura as the blame for the DAYS casting off veteran actors onto the sidelines??? Take a good look at GH. You will see why they’re so successful : perfect balance of all stages of life – with an EMPHASIS on the 40+. The families are growing up and staying in Port Charles!! Why can’t Days do that? No imagination. No idea who their fan base is. They will find out once EJami’s finished. Fans want to grow WITH the characters and they are fiercely loyal to them until the bitter end. Stop bringing more characters (bodies) and DEVELOP the children of our beloved Brady and Horton families. Bring back Kimberly and Shane, Patch, Adrian, Jack , Belle, Sean-D THE ENTIRE Family!!! Give Bo and Hope a chance to be the next Alice and Tom. Make them par t of their family’s STORYLINE.
Bring back Patch for Kala let them reunite Kala deserves that much from ya’ll writers.Let Bo and Patch come back into town together because the cases the both of them have been working undercover have finally found the edvents to put Aiden and Clade away for a long long time and Kala and Patch leave when Bo and Fancyface leave.
I don’t want Peter to come back at all.
I agree that the way DOOL has written Bo’s absence has been a real let-down, and it makes it even harder than it would normally be to see Hope with another man, even though the story of Hope and Aiden is moving slowly and IMO respectfully so far. I’m sorry that PR feels this way about DOOL and would only come back for a short time, but I’d like to hope (no pun intended) that things will change. So as much as I’d like to see PR on the show again, if all that he’s willing to do, and DOOL is willing to do, is a short term return to wrap up the epic Bope storyline, I’m not so sure I’m up for that. Either find a way to bring him back for a Bope reunion where he sticks around, or have Bo “die” offscreen so that Hope can move on with someone, whether it’s Aiden or not, and maybe by the time bad feelings ease on both sides, PR can come back for a longer story and Bo can return just as Hope did when Kristian Alfonso came back to the show.
Completely agree, i’d rather no Bo than a token return for the sake of tidy storytelling. I think everyone agree’s Bo’s exit storyline was weak, but writing him back in for a short stint to fix his exit storyline feels like it could be worse. The only legit way for him to come back would be in an extended arc as GenHosp did with the Robin character – but we’d need a minimum 6 months of airtime which it doesnt sound like he’d be up for.
I’m a newer viewer of DOOL, so I only saw Bo briefly before he left. I’m not sure how long-time viewers would feel about a re-cast, so maybe it would be better for the character to die on his “mission” and Hope could then move on with someone else. TPTB are obviously pushing her towards Aiden, but how can anything ever come of that? The Hope/Bo fans would be up in arms if she cheated on him. She could just divorce him, I guess, and the character could return in the future.
Aiden is dull, give this character some life. Bo was the reckless one that Hope fell in love with. Aiden is boring and they should give him a better storyline, so if PR doesn’t come back, at least give Hope and Aiden some excitement. I fast forward when it comes to Aiden and Hope, just plain boring. Get Aiden out of that suit and mess his hair up a little, give him that little bit of a “bad boy” that Hope was always attracted to with Bo
They once recast Bo successfully with Robert Kelker Kelky I’d rather see him back than this insipid love affair.

That is not true. He already had taken two pay cuts, as did the other actors. He was unhappy with the non-storylines for Bo, and even after he left, the show contacted him to talk of a return. And again, they just had no story. I believe Peter felt Bo & Hope did not deserve to be relegated to filler scenes (as we see Hope doing now).
It truly is difficult to understand why the show has not dealt with Bo’s absence in a better way, or recasted.
With all the writers they have, someone COULD/SHOULD have come up with an acceptable solution.

I dont like how they ended things with Bo and Carly. I would like to see that story line treated the right way. They brought Carly back on to be hated and never redeemed her character.
I want Peter to return, however I would like Bo to return for the long time.I still see Bo & Hope as a great couple. Bo absence for so long could be easily written in for the 50th if not before. So what if Hope is involved with another guy by then? When has that ever stopped DAYS? I very much believe in what the FAB FOUR still has to offer DAYS. Drake has been back for a while now. The J&M story is moving slowly, but that OK. One of DAYS greatest weakness right now it the lack of story for the vets of the show. As a long time viewer, I’m not sure DAYS actually care .Peter may live in Nashville now, but DAYS needs to work with him and the many loyal long term fans who love him to give us the story we deserve. So far DAYS has been unwilling to do that.

Days has been ruining their relationship with the Vets. I turned it on a few days ago, all these young kids were on, so many recast. In my area its not even on NBC, the CW picked it up, & I live in a huge city on the West Coast. Days keeps ruining characters that I grew up watching & can remeber my Grandma watching. I don’t want Bo to come back, because they will give him an absurd storyline. Wheres a great story for Lucas, Roman, their to busy turning Jen into a mess.
I dislike Jens storyline…first Anne, then Teressa and now Liam causes her problems and they are bringing in a fourth to do the same…ridiculous….the actor shouldve played Frankie Brady, Jens old boyfriend, and Jen, Frankie and Danial written in a good old fashion love triangle…or at least Liam shouldve been part of Jordans mysterious past…Jordans story is going nowhere imo and she, Rafe, and Ben can all leave Salem and i wouldnt miss them…was hoping Jordan and Ben were Eves children when she shows up but not so sure now. Cant wait for Eve and the return of Kristen!

I have been so disgusted with DOOL for awhile, but especially with the way Peter is being portrayed. Would love to see him back full time or even on a part-time basis. Been watching for _5 yrs. (can’t give away my age). May be time for a change unless this gets resolved.
The only proper storyline that would be respectful to the long time fans of Days of Our Lives would be to kill off Bo. There is no way Bo would be off with Carly without seeing his daughter, that just makes zero sense and having him MIA on a mission is also ridiculous. If Peter does not want to come back as a permanent, that’s his decision and he is entitled to live his life but IMO the only real storyline could be that Bo dies. If he chooses to come back later on, that can always happen. The only thing that annoys me with this was that Peter was extremely vocal about not having Bo killed off so that he could return or having Bo recast. The fans did deserve a better send off but when Peter was asked by fans of Days before his departure if he’d return, he claimed he would be back for guest spots. Clearly he was in two minds before he left so the Corday and the writers could hardly write an exit storyline if even they were under the impression he’d be back. As a long time fan of Peter’s I think he sounds petty and bitter. It was his decision to leave and he could have allowed the character to be killed off back then instead of asking Corday to keep Bo alive. To now blame TPTB is a bit rich Mr Reckell.
Whilst I respect all the fans of the show, I’d like to see closure on Bo and Hope. They’ve been a super couple since the 80s and whilst I know Bo/Billie and Bo/Carly fans would like a little something too and I respect all fanbases, Bo and Hope were “the” couple. Peter himself said that Hope is Bo’s soulmate and I think he knows his character better than anyone so for me maybe a letter that Bo has been killed and then Hope has a dream where Bo tells her she can move on. I think that is probably the most true to storyline and character they could get and not ruin the character of Bo.
I think Sally’s idea is a good one. If Peter wants to come back a little longer, they can have Hope have a nervous breakdown after Bo’s death. She is put into a mental hospital where she doesn’t speak or react to anybody. Marlana tries to treat her. Then little-by-little, Bo comes to visit her (in her mind). Hope is the only one to see and hear him, which causes her to finally speak. Marlena eventually gets through to her and Hope tells “Bo” good-bye. (perhaps Aiden is there for her, too.) That would be a real tear-jerker that we finally need as a pay-off! Hope gets a good storyline and everybody is happy. What do you all think?? (Oh! And they do flashbacks of their wedding and their song!!)

As much as I enjoy Bo, I think I read somewhere that Kristian Alfonso has never really played a storyline without Bo in it somehow. I’m all for letting Hope find her feet without Bo and get to know that side of Hope. THEN get a recast Bo if PR’s not that keen in a couple of years – but all for solo Hope and whatever she’s going to face on her own.
To say replace his character is just plain stupid! He is the only bo we know and love! It is peters decision on leaving and who can blame him?! they gave them no story line and no other choice. As for hope, yes she does need something to happen that allows her to move on. Whatever they decide that is, it just cannot be a different person playing bo. period

I think they have been writing the story in this way hoping that PR would return and are trying to avoid a recast. I agree that it is not a particularly good way to handle the character but maybe they feel their options are limited. They don’t want to kill Bo off and they don’t want to recast yet. Perhaps after reading PR’s comments they may feel that since he isn’t willing to do a long term return to the show they have the freedom to recast Bo. And since they are so far ahead a new Bo would not appear until probably Fall.
The one good thing that has come out of this is that Hope has been on screen more and even if light in tone has been getting story. One thing I do like is that Hope has been lightened up a little…she gets to laugh and have lines that are silly and sarcastic. Before when she was tied to Bo, Hope was always very serious and somewhat stiff. So, I am enjoying seeing a different side to her. And, I think it is refreshing to see a parent actually seen struggling with raising a child alone and trying to cope with this “netherworld” of being married yet single.
It would be interesting to see a Hope, Aiden, Kayla triangle. At least it would give some additional air time to Kayla instead of her popping in to comment on someone else’s story.

It hasn’t been good what they’ve done to Bo. I don’t think he would ever act this way. I don’t know why they didn’t recast him. That would have been better since Hope and Bo belong together.
Ugh. I still think that putting this behind the scenes stuff out there and playing the victim is unprofessional as an actor. There’s not one actor on daytime who can claim they’ve never disliked something they had to do. It’s just part of the business.
As I see it, the writers are in an impossible situation with Bo. You don’t want to kill off a legacy character, Robert Kelker Kelly doesn’t seem to be interested in reprising the role and Kristian Alfonso isn’t leaving any time soon. Having Bo off camera may not be the best story but seems to be the only option in this situation.
Often I am int he minority as I put story first. If there needs — and I think there is this need — to bring some closure to Bo and Hope (or keep them together), then recasting is an option. I would oprefer to see Peter Reckell in the role he made so vibrant but sometimes it cannot be.
B&B was able to recast Ridge with success just when it became difficult to continue story without the character. DAYS may have to consider this is “powers” and Peter Reckell cannot come to terms.
The writers do seem bent on destroying the character, having the fans dislike the character intently. Thus, they can have him be involved off screen with another woman, or die, or be undercover forever; they can have Hope decide she will no longer be the dutiful faithful, ever-waiting wife, and divorce him.
If they killed Bo, then there would be all the mourning, the memorial services, etc. And Hope would remain at a standstill. Thus, Bo’s reputation has to be ruined (this is my opinion on what the writers are doing), everyone is angry, mad, disgusted, etc. and he decides to stay in Europe or wherever, forever. So, Hope will get her freedom via divorce/annulment or something, and life will go on for her.
I agree Peter is worth the money. Bring him back the vets make the show. I cannot see hope moving on without BO

With all due respect to Mr. Reckell, he chose to leave. IMO he asked that Bo not be killed to leave the door open for him to return should the circumstances which informed his decision to leave change.
I do wish DOOL would kill off Bo or say he filed for divorce. Just settle the Bo issue. Having Hope in sl limbo is not good.

If nothing else have someone find out that Bo and Billie or Carly have been together where ever he is then Hope can be angry and hate him and move on. If Peter did come back in the future it could be a case of mistaken identity or a hostage situation to explain away his being gone.

I totally believe Peter Reckell should come back albeit a brief stay as the way he left before was totally messed up. Caroline has been back for quite a while now while Bo decided to go undercover and reveal the Dimera’s..does not add up! Even if Hope started a relationship with Aiden that would be okay as Bo bedded Carly on her when she took Ciara and left. I mean they have been apart numerous times anyway so it would make for great story to have him come back after finding out maybe from a little birdie named John maybe? that Hope is moving on OR he comes back to tell Hope he has moved on and serves her with divorce papers. So many great possibilities here if he is just going to make a quick return. It was done before when Hope came back briefly and left in a cage explosion to begin her maternity leave. Peter Reckell owes it to his fans to make his exit more viable and/or believable! Please come back Peter!!!

There is no way for a respectful ending, they need to grow old together and to lose him would mean death to Bo and I couldn’t bear the thought… Please work out a compromise so he will stay on!!!!

If you do an interview with him, Michael, can you please ask him why he’s bringing this up now? It was his decision to leave, it was his decision to leave the door open for his character to return, his request that Bo not be killed of or recast so why is he now saying the fans deserve a better exit? What were the writers supposed to do? Peter had every opportunity to ask for a proper Bo send-off. He didn’t appear unhappy with his departure when it first aired or think it was lame back then. Why didn’t he say the fans deserved better back then? I think perhaps Peter thought he’d just have a break and then return but when he approached them for a return they couldn’t come to an agreement. But he kind of sounds bitter towards the only show that made him a star and I don’t like that. And I do have to wonder if now that he’s seen tweets about Kristian’s storyline and Hope and Aiden, is that why he wants a return. Kristian’s finally getting a story.

Sounds as if Peter is hinting. Cady McClain came and went several times on AMC. She eventually came back to stay. Michael Knight didn’t leave as many times as Cady but he came back to stay too!
