Primetime Soap Opera In Development For Fox Revolving Around NYC Restaurant Biz Entitled HUNGRY!

Speak no more primetime execs that the art of the soap and the genre is dead, when apparently all major networks and cable outlets are clearly looking to air more soapy drama after the smash success of season one of Fox’s Empire.

And on that note, comes news Tuesday from Variety, that Fox has another soap opera in development centering around the New York City restaurant business entitled, Hungry!  Marti Noxon, who is having much success of late with her other projects, UnReal for Lifetime which features former One Life to Live star Josh Kelly, and Bravo’s Girlfriend’ Guide to Divorce, is on board to be the pilot’s executive producer along with Meryl Poster from a script written by Nina Colman.

The concept of the story is that it’s an hourlong soap set in the down and dirty, cutthroat and exciting restaurant world of New York City. The series centers on a young, aspiring chef who lands the thankless job as a line cook for one of Manhattan’s most famous — and infamous — culinary stars.   For those who may also know Noxon from her other primetime projects, you may recall Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel, where she got her start.   Marti is also serving as the executive producer for the upcoming CBS drama Code Black debuting in September.

What do you think about the latest story concept for a primetime soap, Hungry?  Who would you like to see star in it? Comment below!

OMG! Enough with the prime time soaps, bring back daytime soaps!

All soaps are Primetime. I haven’t watched a soap in the daytime since 1985. DVR’s are Great. Y

I would like to make a suggestion. I don’t know if you actually read the comments people leave but, if I May plant a seed for actor Matthew Atkinson. I believe that he can play any part you put in front of him. He just got through with a part from Young and the Restless back in March. Their Loss can be your gain. I say get a hold of his agent and book him.

I would love to see YR star Sharon Case and former YR star Michael Muhney.

Matthew Atkinson can really use a meaty role. Something that he can sink his acting chops into if U know what I mean. He’s a great actor he just needs a really good break.

Repost: I would love to see Sharon Case, Jessica Collins and Michael Muhney on
This soap!!

Hungry? Sounds as dumb as The Chew for worse show title…im starving for more soaps but this wont fill me up…how about instead we call it DINERMITE!!! and have Jimmie Walker star…lol

Well since the success of Empire I knew it would just be a matter of time before each network would develop their own night time soap revolving around a business /industry. I was right.

Maybe JPL should get a role on this show instead of playing Philip on Days!

Sean Kanan’s Stepdaughter, Juliet Vega, to Appear on The Bold and the Beautiful

Coming up on this Friday’s April 26th episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, Juliet Vega, the stepdaughter to Sean Kanan will make an appearance on the CBS daytime drama series in the role of Michele.

Keeping it “All in the Family”, the character is named after Juliet’s real-life mother, and Kanan’s wife, writer and producer, Michele Kanan.

Back in 2012, Sean married Michele Vega and thus began their blended family which included his daughter, Simone, and Michelle’s children, Peter, Gigi, and her twins, Annie and Juliet.

According to a B&B show spokesperson, Juliet’s B&B character is intentionally named Michele in honor of her mother and Sean’s wife.

While we don’t know how “Michele” shows up in story, it is the same episode that Clint Howard makes an appearance as well seemingly tied to the case of where in the world is Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown)?

We can’t imagine that Juliet wouldn’t get the opportunity to mix it up on-screen with her stepdad, Sean Kanan. Previously, the two acted together in Sean’s streaming series Studio City, where she played the role of Delilah and he played soap actor, Sam Stevens. In it, Delilah is the bio-daughter Sam never knew he had.

So, looking forward to seeing Juliet on B&B and how ‘Michele’ turns up in the story? Comment below.

Cameron Mathison Previews New Game Show ‘Beat The Bridge’ (Promo)

As previously reported, Cameron Mathison (Drew, General Hospital) will be seen doing double duty this summer when he premieres in June as the host of Game Show Network’s Beat The Bridge.

Now, while Cameron will be the host with the most, that doesn’t mean he will stop playing GH’s Drew.  In fact, Mathison taped the game show in 2023, so it will now air for the first time in 2024.

Taking to his Instagram this week, Cameron shared his enthusiasm and some new hosting snaps, sharing, “Our newest game show host reporting for duty😎 Head over to the Game Show Network YouTube channel for your first look at the show and don’t miss Beat The Bridge premiering this June! I can’t wait for you guys to see this!”

In Beat The Bridge, an enormous interactive bridge dares players to cross by stepping on the right answers to challenging trivia questions. As they play, each steps forward and puts money in their team’s bank, with bonus money for each successful crossing. Here’s the catch: the team gets to keep the money only if it can “beat the bridge” by returning one of its players back across before time expires.

Meanwhile, on GH, Drew and Nina (Cynthia Watros) recently had hate-sex. Do you think its a one-time deal? Where will Drew’s story take him next under new head writers, Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte? Stay tuned.

Now below, check out the first promo for Beat The Bridge from the Game Show Network with you host, Cameron Mathison.  Then, let us know, will you be checking out the game this summer? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

Kim Kardashian, Emma Roberts and Marlene King Land ‘Calabasas’, a Soap in the Vein of the ‘O.C’ and ‘Beverly Hills 90210’, at Netflix

There has been lot of soapy projects coming to life and in the works of late, and now comes word that Kim Kardashian is executive producing a new series in development for Netflix called Calabasas.

After a bidding war last week, it looks like Netflix cemented the development deal from Kim, and her producing partners American Horror Story co-star Emma Roberts (pictured below) and Pretty Little Liars creators Marlene King and Alexandra Milchan.

The concept of Calabasas is based on the book If You Lived Here You’d Be Famous By Now by Via Bleidner.  King set to write the adaptation and will serve as the series showrunner.

According to Deadline, Calabasas is said to be in the vein of primetime young teen and young adult soaps the O.C. and Beverly Hills 90210. The story follows “Via, a 16-year-old sheltered Midwestern Catholic school girl whose world is turned upside down when her family moves and she’s forced to transfer to the fast world of Calabasas High where nothing is as it appears and where everyone is trying to be someone else. It’s a place where dreams come true … but not without complications and sometimes unforeseen consequences.”

As fans of the Kardashians know, Kim and her family made the town of Calabasas a household and worldwide name. Kim being attached to this project helped make its sale. This marks her fourth project to sell since the writers and actors strikes concluded at the end of last summer.
