Photo: ABC

This week your favorite daytime dramas get in the spirit of Halloween – with costume parties, and danger lurking which is in many forms for several key characters.

The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital and Days of our Lives all apparently have some bumps in the night, some scares for ‘Fright Night’, and some fun in store for viewers.  Three of the series marked Halloween with related promos.  DAYS focused on the upcoming Elani wedding and Gabi controlling Julie’s pacemaker.  Check out these promos below.

Ron C. Has reached new levels of stupidity. Lets examine the Lani Gabi scenario. Has Gabi forgotten that Lani is a Cop? More importantly…has Lani forgotten that she is a cop?? We all saw Gabi, in the middle of a crowded hospital…..with SURVEILLANCE….admit to Lani…a COP…that she had in her hand a device that she could use to kill Julie. She then walked over, demonstrated how she was willing and able to kill Julie by revving up her heart. Gabi then blackmailed Lani…a COP…into dumping her fiance at the altar. Right there, Lani…a COP…had legal grounds to wrestle Gabi to… Read more »

Well, Saints preserve us, if it’s getting that tiresome to watch, then by all means stop watching and get some rest. Many of us are thoroughly enjoying the continued renaissance of Days.

thank the soap gods Ron C is no longer at GH, I feel so sorry for DOOL, it will continue to get worse. I don’t mean to knock the guy but as a writer he has more bad vises then good ones and no disrespect if your a fan of his writing I’m just not able to keep up w/ his level of stupidity and cartoonish style of writing.

Colin OMG , I think the same, every time I watch Gabi pulling her crap with Lani. I’m also yelling at the TV at Lani to grab the phone and cuff Gabi. This has got to be the stupidest thing they have tried to make us swallow, and don’t even get me started on the crazy Jordan, supposedly running around with a one year old in a little basket that would be for a much younger baby. Rafe is another disappointment, all looks and no action! I’ve about had it with this show. Satan nailed it by saying the new jump… Read more »

Storylines are getting worse. Half the characters have been brought back to life by Dr. Rolf!

Dumb, dumb, dumb—especially Days!! GH not too bad. Who is Le gentilhomme masque’? Laura didn’t recognize her son’s eyes? Is it Nikolas?

Frankly, both Days AND General Hospital have shitty writing at the moment. It’s a coin flip as to whether Jordan Ridgeway or Drodd is the dumbest character.

As for the immediate future… I’m sure ReRon’s time jump will be an epic failure. Meanwhile on GH, Valentini seems determined to throw another inferior attempt at “Nikolas Cassadine” in our faces. Either get Tyler Christopher back on board or don’t bother.

I thought we might have a new boy toy for Ava, as the new Nicolas looks so young in his photo, but he is 41 yrs.old, ha. I was hoping for Tyler.

a.k.a. Whiny Heiny. Yeah, he’s also a huge waste of time, but I suspect he’s going to be leaving Port Charles by the time 2019 is over. Of course it will probably be in a body bag, which means he will still be MY problem. He can clean the dragon stables with his pal Shiloh.

I hope so, he helps ruins the show. Total wimp.

GH EP Frank Valentini On Taping the Sonya Eddy Tribute Episode: “It Was an Extraordinary Script, and It Was a Labor of Love That Day”

This week on General Hospital, the ABC daytime dramas series kicks off its 60th anniversary set of episodes, with what is sure to be the most emotional – the tribute episode for the late Sonya Eddy in honor of her beloved GH character, Epiphany Johnson.

GH’s executive producer spoke with Soap Opera Digest (in their latest issue on newsstands now), about how the show decided to handle the delicate subject of a real-life cast member’s passing and connect it to the story on the canvas of the soap opera.

In conjunction with GH co-head writers, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor, the trio decided that if they weren’t ever going to be able to see Sonya as Epiphany again, that there was no way they were going to ever recast the role.  Valentini shared: “We decided it was important to honor not only Sonya, but Epiphany and we wanted to dedicate a full entire episode all about that.”

The EP went on to give praise to his writers, and the cast for their performances when taping the episode: “I think everyone was touched by what the writer’s wrote. It was an extraordinary script and it was a labor of love that day in honor of Sonya, who was so incredibly loved by everybody in the cast and  crew.

The way the death of Epiphany is structured on the airshows is key also to the upcoming Nurses’ Ball episodes set to air the following week. Frank expressed: “Epiphany is a very pivotal person in the Nurses’ Ball, so it’s almost like a part two (of her tribute).

The Sonya Eddy tribute episode airs Wednesday March 29th.

Are you looking forward to seeing how GH honors Sonya and the beloved Epiphany of GH? Comment below.

GH’s Kathleen Gati on Liesl Learning Britt is Sick: “This Was the Most Painful and Profound Episode I Have Filmed in 10 Years”

This week in a preview of a heartbreaking episode of General Hospital, Liesl (Kathleen Gati) will learn her daughter, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), now has developed symptoms of Huntington’s Disease and its progression is making Dr. Westbourne very sick.

In story, look for Britt to confide in her mother, noting that that the disease is beginning to overtake her body.

Liesl’s portrayer, Kathleen Gati shared with Soap Opera Digest (in their latest issue on newsstand now), just how mutter will react to the news.

Gati expressed: “I have to say this is the most painful and profound episode I have filmed in 10 years.”  Kathleen has played the role of Dr, Liesl Obrecht since 2012.

She goes on to say, “Liesl puts her doctors hat on to give hope to herself and to Britta, encouraging her that they are both well-trained doctors and can find a way to help Britta.”

However, that’s not what Britt wants to hear.  She needs her mother, and the support and comfort from her, at this devastating time in her life.

Kathleen shares it’s at that point that Liesl realizes she needs to stop all the medical talk and just be there for her daughter.
