The Online Network Confirms Story Progressions For AMC to Five Years & OLTL In Real time!

So all the rumors and reports have now come to a conclusion with official word today from The Online Network. They can confirm that the premiere episode of All My Children will be set approximately five years later from the time setting of the last episode, unlike One Live to Live which has advanced in real time.
Brand new 30-minute episodes of One Life to Live will be launched each weekday beginning April 29th and available to stream online in HD (when available) via the free Hulu.com service and to subscribers of Hulu Plus making these venerable dramas available in a new format that suits the viewing habits of the digital generation. In addition, the iTunes Store will offer both series via iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Apple TV and Mac or PC.
So AMC and OLTL fans, how do you feel about the progression? Do you like the idea that One Life is advancing story in real time while All My Children leaps five years ahead?

I would say that we all have mixed reactions to AMC jumping ahead five years but by now, most of us are accepting of it. The producers have their reasons for doing it this way, I believe it is primarily because all the actors weren’t available, and they need to introduce some new characters. Initially, I wasn’t thrilled with the idea of going five years into the future, I thought it seemed a bit of a stretch that all the kids would be young adults but the current more mature actors wouldn’t be expected to age, or to quote Julia Barr (Brooke) “thank goodness”. I STILL think it doesn’t look right to me that the actress who plays Dixie does not look any older than the actor who will be playing J.R. Chandler – they look more like brother and sister to my eyes than Mother and son, but that’s soap life I guess ~
I personally think they are doing it because of the way the story ended on ABC and they can age the kids, not because they can’t get all the actors, there are still quite a few actors that still have not been asked to come back.
Very pathetic 5 YEARS AHEAD. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT LAT AT LEAST 2 YEARS. I WISH ALL MY CHILDREN GOOD LUCK. I HAVE A FEELING THE SOAP WILL NOT LAST. ONE LIFE TO LIVE WILL BE A BIG HIT.

I don’t agree with your negative narrow viewpoint at all! They have their artistic reasons for advancing the story forward and we should trust the writers and producers. They have everything riding on these reboots and they are going to pull out all of the stops to do the absolute best job they possibly can. I am quit confident that both soaps will be fantastic with a great cast and crew at the helm! I have watched both these shows for over 32 years and I am just so thankful to get them back. How can anyone not be optimistic that they will be wonderful? Optimism, faith, hope, love and positive thoughts are ALL we should be sharing with these people who are doing their best to bring back to us what ABC tried to kill! We owe them NOTHING less! So please keep your negative vile comments to yourself because us true loyal fans do not want to read them!

I’m a OLTL viewer and am very glad the series will have progressed in real time. I can’t wait to see if Viki and Clint have remarried and how Bo and Nora are and find out what’s happening with Blair and Tomas and how is poor Tea dealing with the death of her baby. And of course what has Senator Dorian Lord Vickers Buchanan but up to? I love these people. I am also anxious to see the development of Matthew and Destiny as both have been recast. Baby Drew has to be about a year old now.
I have not been a regular AMC viewer in years so the 5 year leap won’t bother me. I will definitely be a regular AMC viewer now.
I want Natalie having John’s little red headed girl, she’d be due or just have had her(as of the last time her & John could of been together) and Liam will be 2 1/2. Maybe we’ll get Clint & Vickie’s wedding to start the show off. How exciting – can’t wait!

I’m not an expert in Time Travel, but I don’t think that “literally” AMC will be in 2016, I think we are just somehow expected to think that the incident with J.R. and his gun was a few years ago, instead of the actual One year and a half ago – in this way they can “age” the kids, making them a more intricate part of the storylines. Believe me I wasn’t crazy about the idea, but I think we should keep a positive attitude about it.
I just can’t wait to see how they do it, while still explaining what happened that night at Adam’s House…..Should be some good watching 🙂

It only makes sense that OLTL advanced in Real Time since several OLTL folks have crossed IN real time to Port Charles, and that includes Tea and Blair as well as the Llanview characters who havebounced to Port Charles. Roger Howarth brings SO much to whatever show he is on that one wishes he really were twins.

The thing is PV, Llanview and PC are in the same universe, so when time for crossovers or mentions, how will they explain that you may ask? Well the 5 year leap wil be retconned. That was done merely for just aging the younger kids. But when characters from either towns mention or crossover anywhere near to PV, it’ll still be in the same time technically. I guess?

Not happy about the 5 year jump. So will it actually be 2018 or 2013 with the characters ages via SORA? That would make more sense. They really wouldn’t ge able to do thaat with OLTL since part of the story went forward with Todd, John, Starr, Tea and Blair in real time and since they (or at least Todd) is returning) that would totally make no sense. REal time is time enough….but happy that the shows are back for sure.
I don’t think it’s realistic to advance AMC 5 years. I’m not happy about it and don’t think the show will last. If Susan Lucci is not on board, I doubt very much if I will continue to watch it. I’ve been a loyal fan since it’s inception.
Well then actually you are not a loyal fan if your not going to watch because SL can not be apart of it YET. PPL need to understand they needed to Age the children so they can be intrigual parts of the show, what they heck is the big dam deal about that? Really!
Who cares?! I’m just excited as can be that they are back! We will get used to the new actors and characters like we always have and the same goes for the time change. They will both be a success and they will both be wonderful!
I’m with you, Lisa. I am so happy to see them returning, I can certainly adjust to a time shift on AMC. Getting so many of our favorite cast members backwas so much more important, and I am sure it was no small feat. 🙂
As for the “Todd” character problem between ABC/PP, GH can have him as far as I’m concerned. I really like Blair and Tomas. 😉
B.J., It’s my understanding, but I could be wrong here, that Roger will be going back and forth between GH & OLTL and he is with Carly now. He is on contract with GH, but ABC was willing to loan his character to OLTL once in a while. So I think that’s a plus for both soaps because Roger is a super talented and popular actor. So it’s great for him, the shows and the fans! Win, win! I’m positive about all of it and its nice to see others being so positive and upbeat as well. Thanks for the response! Cheers!

ABC did not “loan” PP’s character to them every once in a while, ABC does not own the character of Todd Manning PP does. ABC owns RH’s Contract big difference. From everything that has been printed said that he is coming back for 4 weeks then he is going back to GH. I haven’t seen anything else since that….
I think it’s the other way around, they were on loan from pp to GH 🙁

A five year jump 4 AMC is better than never been givin the chance 2 come back at all! And if it does fail, ill blame the negative people who critizised it b4 theyve even seen it! We dont know what itll b like till we actually see it. Theres a chance it could be better than when we’ve seen it last. So try not to b so quick to jump to conclusions. The only way ill judge if i like it or not is by its storyline. Im fine with what iv heard about it so far. Isnt the whole idea to keep the genre alive the most important thing right now?
It does feel a little strange on soaps when they age the kid and they look as old as the parent but sometimes i can overlook it. When some of us were young kids we usually felt our parents and people their age were kinda old. But when we grow up and start to get older and more mature those feelings, at least 4 some of us, start to gradually diminish and we feel a little more closer to them in age and thinking, and we can relate to them better then when we were kids and it begins to no longer seem like they are that much older than us anymore. So thats how i now like to look at the aging of kids on soaps, and it helps it feel more believable at least to me.
The only issue I see is the Dallas/Knots landing effect. Since they two shows are sister shows this just ( like Bobby’s death on Dallas) creates a rift that the two shows can’t work through. Just like Knots after the Dream season OLTL won’t be able to cross over with AMC anymore

AMC ended its network run in Sept. 2011 that was about one & 1/2 years ago so for me that feels more like they are just jumping ahead nearly 3 years instead of the 5 since we’ve, in reality, missed only those 1&1/2 years in between the last network showing and its first online showing.Anyway, It may not seem like it to you but i believe it will still be 2013 in Pine Valley. They are only aging the CHILDREN, and only telling us happen happened to the characters after we’ve last seen them. We really havent missed much like it sounds. And its not like we lost 3 or 5 years of our life but we could have lost many more years of AMC if PP wasnt around to bring it back to us. We should thank them and be grateful how lucky we r to have them.

I agee John. I even mentioned i feel itll still be 2013. We r not missing anything the way those other people think we r. Theyr only aging the children which eventually would have happened anyway, and telling us what happened since we last seen them. It makes more sense to move forward then begin it where it left off in 2011. Its only been less than 2 years so its not like we missed a thing. For me and u its still better than nothing.

This is a major issue? Please! Advancing five years for AMC gives the reboot a fresh feeling. I do not expect nor do I want the same AMC that limped along in its final years. Take the best of what AMC can offer (Agnes Nixon, a strong cast of actors) and the launch pad of what plots we had going and let’s get cracking.
Surely a five-year jump in setting the story is no more silly than all the resurrections that occurred inthe final months of AMC’s ABC run. Come on, people!

I started watching AMC while in grade school (prior to VCRs), when kids went home for lunch. When I got to High School going home for lunch was not a possibility but VCRs were available (Beta costing way too much for my family to own one). The point I am making is I didn’t get to watch AMC daily anymore, just a show here and there during the school year. I was able to pick up the story line, even after a month, without a problem. Until Erica was set to marry someone and next time I watched she was already with someone else. (LOL, can’t remember which husband now). A jump to SORAS the kids 5 years is not too bad if it means we get our soap back.

Well I don’t know what magazine you read that said that but I have never heard of that! When it was announced that the shows were coming back on some Fans ASSUMED that it was going to start off a year and a half later, And you know what they say about when you ASSume? So NO they DID NOT lie to the fans! How do you know what someone else knows about soaps? Just from what you have said YOU are the one that does not know about soaps, If you think that PP would SPEND MILLIONS on AMC to set it up to fail so they lose their money! Yup that sounds logical!
Julia Barr (“Brook English”) has already stated, jokingly, that when J.R. aimed his gun he shot at a vase and it shattered. I know she was kidding but for all we know maybe that’s all that happened. Maybe the shooting will be explained, any cliffhanger is generally more exciting than the aftermath.

OK so AMC is jumping 5 years. It’s been off air for a little over 2 years already so it’s only really jumping about 2 1/2 years.
I’m Ok with the 5 year jump for AMC as long as they explain who got shot in the last televised episode.

I am disappointed that AMC is jumping up 5 years because the last episode was someone getting shot. I WANT TO KNOW who got shot!!!! I watched that show without FAIL for 15 years and I feel like I, along with the rest of the faithful AMC followers got a raw deal on the ending and the promised that 6 months after the last episode aired, was supposed to become a webisode. It’s been 2 years now and we have had to wait, and wait, and wait…FINALLY we get the webisodes and we get it 5 years later? Just ridiculous!!!
We did not see anyone get shot all we seen was the gun go off! They aged the KIDS! What is so hard about understanding that! Maybe they should ‘AGE’ some of these people complaing about AMCs 5 year jump since it takes an Adult to understand why they are doing it! How many times do we repeat they are aging only the young children, which will happen anyway, to give the reboot a fresh start, and to help increase storyline potential…its not needed at OLTL mainly because they were lucky to get enough vets to start up again, and AMC needed someone to fill the void that was connected to the shows history and that would be the vets children. AMC has only been gone a short time
and just because we wont see what happen since then doesnt mean Agnes and the gang are that stupid not to explain to ‘LOYAL’ fans what exactly happen since it departed the network. Do you want these shows back or not? We might like what we see and if not then complain why? But be prepared for those who will agree or disagree with you, especially the latter!
Years ago, I watched both OLTL and AMC – as time went by, I dropped out of OLTL only because keeping up with 2 HOUR long shows got to be too much, so at night I would watch only AMC (recorded). Now that both shows are only 30 min. without horrendous commercials, I will view both. While no one has to tell me who Vicki and Clint are or who Dorian Lord is, I will be counting on many viewers here to fill me in on some characters. It’s pretty nice that the shows can be streamed, and as this type of media watching becomes more and more commonplace, I believe that eventually Broadcast TV will almost become a thing of the past. ABC-TV can keep showing their stupid Cooking Shows and boring talk shows and absurdly stupid Reality crap, fans will be faithfully following the residents of Pine Valley and Landview. SOAP FANS ROCK!
I am just very grateful that the soaps are coming back. I trust PP to do what they believe is best for both shows and have no doubt that we will be as entertained as we were when they were on TV.

I. was completely blown away when I heard about all of this! I have no issues w/the fire year jump. As I remember that was the original intention anyway. I am so happy what all the fans did to bring both shows back. My biggest thanks to all of them.
OK! I came to AMC page!! Sick of reading about OLTL!! Sorry but I really hoped to catch up on MY ALL TIME FAVE SHOW EVER!!! So far all I’ve gotten is that is gonna be seriously Screwed up!! NO ERICA?!!! NO TAD?!!! Wt…!!!? Will the show be about?’!! At one point I heard Susan Lucci say that one day she was signing a new contract. & they were telling her about this Fantastic story line they had lined up for her… Then next day they were telling her show was being cancelled !! & unlike OLTL. AMC. Really tried to bring a tiny bit of an ending to the show with everybody resolving issues. Except JR & the Gun!! I can accept Aging the kids a couple of years! But 5?!! Really?!! Lets be honest! Kids on Soaps are really only kids for about 7-10 yrs ANYWAY!! & all of a sudden they are dating & then marrying if whatever ! But this MUST BE SOME KIND OF A JUMP FOR THEM TO PRE WARN US OF A 5 YEAR JUMP!!! Are you saying that AMC will have NO CONNECTION TO ITS HISTORY? I THINK IF AMC COMES BACK WITH SOME STRING ROOTS TO ITS PAST THAT PEOPLE WILL PROBABLY BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO LET FRIENDS GATHER TOGETHER AND WATCH AS GROUPS TOGETHER !! IM PULLING FOR AMC & OLTL!! I RECEIVED “”1″” TWEET BACK TELOING ME NO DETAILS JUST THAT THE SHOWS WERE COMING BACK ! UNTIL I WENT SEARCHING I BELIEVED THEY WERE COMING BACK ON TV!!! AND NO IDEA WHERE WHEN OR HOW!!!
BEFORE APRIL 29th YOU NEED TO GO OLD SCHOOL AND PUT IT IN ALL THE NEWSPAPERS ACROSS AMERICA!!!! That way the people that actually have laptops & computers CAN WIPE THE DUST OFF AND GET SOME INTERNET HOOKED UP AND HOPEFULLY CATCH THEIR BELIVED SHOWS!!! PRAYING THIS WORKS!!
I would have no complaints about however they want to produce AMC. As a Canadian who has viewed AMC for over 34 years I can’t view then unless I illegally try through Hula. Be happy they are back so you have the option to view them.

51st Daytime Emmys: Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa Receive Talk Show Host Nominations
On Thursday, nominations were announced in the Outstanding Talk Show category for the upcoming 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children) coming off his first-year as co-host of ‘Live” with real-life wife, Kelly Ripa scored his first Talk Show Host nomination along with Ripa who has been nominated previous times.
Joining Mark and Kelly in the race are: Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, The View
Kelly Clarkson, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell, Sheryl Underwood, The Talk and

As previously reported, The Talk is coming to its end when its upcoming 15th and final season ends in December of 2024.
The 51st annual Daytime Emmys are slated to be broadcast and stream live on CBS and Paramount+ on Friday night, June 7th

Mark Consuelos Celebrates One-Year Anniversary as Co-Host of ‘Live’ Alongside Kelly Ripa
Today, April 17th marks a full-year since Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children) took over the co-hosting duties of ‘Live” alongside his wife, and longtime co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, All My Children).
Consuelos replaced Ryan Seacrest who are six seasons decided to be back on the west coast full-time. For Consuelos, now having the opportunity to work off of Ripa as co-hosts has been something of adjustment for him, but viewers have been eating it up.
Live with Kelly and Mark has remained the No. 1 entertainment talk show on television over the past year, growing 3% in average total viewers to 2.23M per episode. It is also the most-watched daytime talk show in the last year in key demos of women 18-49 and women 25-54. All of this, since the real-life marrieds teamed-up.

Speaking with Deadline, Kelly Ripa shared why the two are gelling on-screen, “I do think that there is something very possibly relatable about our relationship. We have disagreements like a normal couple, and we’re not afraid to let them unfold on the air and in front of America, and I think people find a lot of themselves in that.”
Mark weighed in how he has progressed as a host, and what he could improve at, sharing, “I’d like to get better at my interviewing skills. I’d like to get better at reading a teleprompter…I think I’m getting better at throwing to commercial. The other day in the middle of the show as we go to commercial, my sign off was ‘See you guys around.’ I mean, the show wasn’t over. The most obvious thing to say would be, ‘We’ll be back right after this.’ But I just said, ‘See you around.’ So we went to commercial and one of the producers (goes) ‘What was that?’ I don’t know… So for the next few sign offs, as a joke, I’d say ‘See you around.’ We got a kick out of it.”

Meanwhile, Kelly has given huge props to Mark, “I find Mark utterly compelling, really interesting, super funny, and he’s bold in a way like nobody else. He says what’s on his mind. If he’s thinking it, he says it. I’ve done this a long time and oftentimes people will adjust their natural personalities to pander to what they think the audience wants to hear, and Mark will tell people what he thinks, and he doesn’t care if it’s not a popular opinion. It gives him an edginess that I think is really missing in the landscape today. Everybody’s so afraid to say anything, and Mark is unafraid to say exactly what he’s thinking.”

Susan Lucci Joins the Cast of Jonah Hill’s Movie ‘Outcome’
Look who will be part of the ensemble cast in motion picture and film star Jonah Hill’s new film project! That’s right, none other than Susan Lucci (ex-Erica, All My Children).
According to Deadline, the daytime television icon joins other notables including Laverne Cox and David Spade who have been added to the cast of Outcome. The film stars Keanu Reeves, Matt Bomer (ex-Ben, Guiding Light) and Cameron Diaz.
In Outcome, which is written by, and will be directed by Hill, the dark comedy centers around Reef (played by Reeves), a damaged Hollywood star who must dive into the dark depths of his past to confront his demons and make amends after he is extorted with a mysterious video clip from his past.

Soap fans know that following her iconic run as All My Children’s Erica Kane, Susan went on to be featured in Lifetime’s Devious Maids in the role of Genevieve Delatour. Since her Pine Valley days ended (when AMC was canceled in 2012), Susan has appeared in numerous shows and made numerous appearances. n December of 2023, Lucci was awarded the Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Outcome will debut on Apple and is an Apple Studios production. The film marks the latest collaboration for Hill and Apple Original Films, who are also developing a Grateful Dead biopic with Martin Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions, to be directed by Scorsese, with Hill starring in it and as one of the producers of the project, as well.
