In the is she leaving or staying reports surrounding the impending departure of The Bold and the Beautiful mainstay Susan Flannery, new information came to light today that the four-time Daytime Emmy winning actress is indeed saying goodbye to her role as Stephanie Forrester after over 25 years on the CBS soap.

TV Line has now reported that Flannery and B&B have parted ways amicably, at that Susan did indeed sign a short-term extension of her current contract that will allow series head writer and executive producer, Brad Bell to spin an “amazing” exit storyline.

So now look for Flannery and her soap alter-ego Stephanie Forrester,  to appear on-screen for the final time at some point in December.

So that begs the question soapers:  How would you like to see Stephanie Forrester exit the canvas?  “Killed-off”? Presumed dead? Leaving on her own accord?  Disappearing?  Let us know what you think would be a good story arc for her departure!

All we can add is that daytime will miss the incredible talents of Susan Flannery, one of the true greats of the genre!

She deserves so much more than a run of the mill plane went down but the body is never found type of scenario. I think she should realize that she’s done all she feels she can do in LA, and strike out across the country, using her money and knowledge to help the homeless.

She can’t make up her mind what she wants to do. I’ve heard this before. I’ll believe it when I see it.

I only skim recaps of B&B especially w/ these exits. It’s great that they axed Frantz and that Moss is exiting bec he’s horrid. I don’t care abt anyone leaving B&B bec it’s a dumb soap. Maybe Flannery got annoyed that everything is abt Steffy and Liam and Hope. That’s probably a factor w/ Moss’s exit. The ego of Ronn must have been hurt when Ridge was pushed to the sidelines for Liam. I don’t care abt Stephanie but hopefully they violently kill her. They should violently kill Donna and especially Amber and especially Pam and especially Liam and especially… Read more »

Stephanie will sorely be missed. I hope you give her a send-off fit for the queen that she is. Maybe since they never officially killed off Sally Spectra, that could fit into Stephanie’s departure somehow.

wow so much drama is she staying or leaving. finally we got the answer tonight. i am going to miss susan flannery as stephanie. honestly they should recast the role for a really really good actress. my suggestions are number 1 erika slezak, 2. marj dusay. 3 linda dano. but my number 1 choice would be erika slezak ex viki one life to live. please producers listen to me and recast stephanie.

Maybe Stephanie will die from her cancer, and that’s how she will make her exit from the show! 🙁

I think this will be the best exit for her. She is not one who would abandon her family and go off and dissapear. Her cough was an indication that her cancer has returned and she will be terminal.

She has not had any good storylines in some time now. It is all about Stephi, Liam and Hope. This storyline is getting so tiring, that I don’t even watch it anymore. This is showing girls around the world that they should be doormats to men who can’t make up their mind. Women who accept crumbs from men.

I hope they end her story much like they did when Darlene Conley (Sally Spectra) died and just have Stephanie going around the world enjoying life with Sally Spectra.

I wish her the best as private person! But for her so allknown great role for over 25 years it is a big kick in the face, for me as longtimeviewer and longtime Susan-Fan,too, i can not believe, that STEPHANIE ” LA FORRESTER” is portrayed now as BFF with her biggest enemy she ever had, BROOKE! The last years i was begging and hopping that we get back LA GRAND DAME who gaves it hard to the familywhore, but this soap becomes a farce and LOganshow more and more. i doubt, when SF leaves and BELL is StILL not giving… Read more »

It would be the most realistic and poignant story if she dies from lung cancer. Let her go out fighting the good fight, but ultimately the message is that cancer is a killer and all the money in the world cannot save you when the time is up. Before she goes, Stephanie can prepare her family, arrange for the philanthropies she wants to receive her fortune and then die with dignity…but the victim of a cruel disease.

This is the end for me. First Ronn, now Susan, after putting up with KKL and all the Logan’s for years, this is it! Brad has disrespected Hunter Tylo and her on screen family, put Thorne in the basement for life and got RJ in the closet, is just a little too much.

Awful news. I wish she could stay and just make occasional appearances. Not actually leave!!!! I don’t want Steph killed. Maybe she can join Sally on trips around the world.

I can’t imagine B&B without Stephanie. She is truly the heart (albeit misguided at times) of the show. I sincerely hope that her final storyline is something worthy of the character.

One of the most talented broads out there. I know she loves B&B and this is probably a personal decision rather than a professional or financial one. Boy oh boy has she earned her retirement. No matter how they write her out (hoping it isn’t death, though wouldn’t be surprised if it is and it’s related to her cancer) I know she’ll always come back for a cameo here and there like Jerry Douglas on Y&R. She has set the standard for professionalism and for talent in this industry. Though we are fortunate to have several exceptional actresses, there has… Read more »

Nearly 40 years? Susan started on Days over FORTY years ago. She was the beautiful Laura Horton (Jennifer’s mom) on Days Of Our Lives.

Jules

She started on DAYS in 1966 and left in 1975 – 9 years.
She’s been on B&B since 1987 – 25 years.
That’s a total of 36 years.
37 if you count 1 year on Dallas.

So yes, NEARLY 40 years. I did the math, thanks.

Who can blame her, the show is unrecognizeable and they have backburnered just about everyone for the relentlessly awful Hope/Liam/steffy saga.

This show has maybe two years left before its cancelled if they keep this up.

This show is so becoming a sinking ship. Losing Ronn Moss and now Susan Flannery… I wouldn’t be surprised if CBS pulled the plug tomorrow.

If this is the end of Stephanie Forrester, then thank you Susan Flannery for being the foundation of THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL. You had some kick-butt storylines and you always made even the sorriest plot points sparkle some by your talent and presence. I am not sure what I want to happen to Stephanie Forrester — I wish Miss Flannery much post-sopa success — but have to wonder if her passing is indeed the best way to go. If she dies, will Ridge not be present? That would not be right. I pray we will be allowed a respite… Read more »

I think their should be a murder/suicide.

All three wearing Queen Mums Infamous “pants” suits.

Michael, thank you for providing a forum for people to discuss their favorite/least favorite characters and storylines. It amazes me that people spend so much time watching their favorite soaps and then spend more time trashing them. At a time when soaps need all of the positive feedback they can get, I wish soap fans would realize that writing negativity is doing nothing to help these shows survive. Obviously, some people should remember the old saying “If you don’t have something nice to say than don’t say anything at all. I do not watch “B&B,” but when two major characters… Read more »

A nuStephanie and a nuRidge at the same time would not be a good combination. I think we’ll see a new face as Ridge first and maybe after he gets settled they’ll bring Stephanie back with a new actress. Would love to see Erika Slezak!

They’d NEVER recast Stephanie, that’s like recasting Victor Newman or recasting other icons. It’s something that would never ever happen in the world.

Bump her ass off. Let her be the one to send Ridge away because of some terrible lie she told him and let Brooke discover the truth about what it was and then have Brooke in a fit of rage accidentally shoot her and bump her off.

Then let Brooke get off of a murder charge by claiming temporary insanity.

If Susan Flannery is deciding, to leave I would think at that point. That maybe she will be on the hospital again, and will loose her battle of cancer. With loved ones around her, cause she’s a huge part of this show, of made this show. That’s why she needs to be, with loved ones, when she dies. Then that will bring Ridge back. For sure but not as a recast. And returns as a ghost, for someone who can see her. That would be interesting to watch. Probably Brooke. Their relationship which grew with the, show and made the… Read more »

All My Children

All My Children and Guiding Light Vet, Gil Rogers Passes Away

Gil Rogers, who played one of the all-time most dastardly villains in soaps on All My Children and was the on-screen father to the one and only Reva Shayne (Kim Zimmer) on Guiding Light, has died at age 87.

News came via his daughter, Amanda Rogers on her Facebook page, relating that Gil passed away on March 2nd.

The actor had played Tad (Michael E. Knight) and Jenny’s (Kim Delaney) father, Ray Gardner on All My Children from 1977-1978 making multiple appearance though 2001, then later as Hawk Shayne on Guiding Light from 1985-1992 making multiple appearance through 2009.

Gil also appeared on Another World, Search for Tomorrow and The Doctors.

In her post, Amanda wrote: “Gil Rogers died this morning. As you all know, my dad was awesome. He was my best friend, confidant, mentor and just an awesome dad. He came to pick me and  Charlotte Whitaker Zdanowski up at clubs at 2AM in our teens to keep us safe, and drank bourbon with me every day since moving out here 2 years ago. He was welcoming and kind, funny and gregarious, a shameless flirt and a fierce protector. He loved his dinners with grandkids and endured animated movies and discussions about pokemon. And I miss him so terribly already. He died in his sleep, without pain or fear. I am so grateful to have had such a great father and to have spent these past 2 years with him every day.”

Check out this vintage scene below from All My Children where Ray played by Rogers blows up the Martin house.

Now share your remembrances of Gil’s performances and along with condolences for his family in the comment section.

Chris Harrison In First Interview Since ‘Bachelor’ Controversy Says He Wants To Be Back as Host; But GMA’s Michael Strahan Says Apology was a “Surface Response”

Thursday’s Good Morning America featured the highly-publicized first interview with ‘Bachelor’ franchise host and executive producer, Chris Harrison, since he stepped away from the show following his controversial remarks on current Bachelor contestant Rachel Kirkconnell, amid the airing of a season that has seen the first-ever Black male lead of the reality series, Matt James.

Speaking with GMA co-host, Michael Strahan, Harrison spoke of remarks he made during his interview with ex-Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay on Extra that sparked the firestorm.

Harrison admitted the words he spoke to Lindsey were “in a manner that perpetuates racism,” adding “I am an imperfect man I made a mistake and I own that. I believe that mistake doesn’t reflect who I am or what I stand for.”

The incident began when photos surfaced on social media of Kirkconnell at an Old South-themed party that she attended back in 2018, along with allegations she “liked” many Instagram posts that were racist in nature, and what many viewed as Harrison coming to her defense in this time of what he then called “cancel culture”.

On GMA, Chris expressed: “Antebellum parties are not OK,  Past, present, future, knowing what that represents is unacceptable.”

He also apologized to Lindsay, who had to shut down her Instagram account because of viral vitriol being sent her way over the incident with Harrison, adding this message to the public, “Anyone who is throwing hate towards Rachel Lindsay, please stop. It’s unacceptable.”

Photo: ABC

As to how he is trying to make amends, Harrison shared: “I made a mistake and I own that, Racism, oppression, these are big dynamic problems and they take serious work. I am committed to that work.”  The longtime Bachelor host then announced he is working with race educator Dr. Eric Dyson who has taught him about the idea of “counsel, not cancel”.

Chris says he plans to be back hosting the reality-dating series, expressing:  “I plan to be back. I want to be back.  This interview is not the finish line. There is much more work to be done.”

Following the exclusive, Michael Strahan described his conversation with Chris Harrison stating: “His apology is his apology, but it felt like it got nothing more than a surface response on any of this. Obviously, he is the man who wants to clearly stay on the show, but only time will tell if there is any meaning behind his words.”

So, what do you think of Chris Harrison’s responses during his first interview since the controversy? Should he return to hosting The Bachelor franchise? Comment below. But first check out his GMA exclusive.

General Hospital

GH’s Wes Ramsey Makes Statement on Criticism, Social Media, and Professionalism

General Hospital’s Wes Ramsey, who portrays polarizing character, Peter August on the ABC daytime drama series, responded to a recent take on his role from cast mate, Tristan Rogers (Scorpio) when a video made its way through social media.

The video was from a Cameo appearance, where Rogers offered an assessment of the Peter August storyline and expressed that while he knows Ramsey is a strong actor, he felt he was “wrong for the character” being that Peter was the son of the evil Faison played by Anders Hove.

Rogers also came to the defense of Ramsey and shared: “Don’t be too hard on Wes Ramsey. He’s got himself into a horrible storyline, and the storyline is the fault of the show. What they’ve literally done is they’ve painted themselves into a corner, and they don’t know how to get out of it.”

Currently, Peter’s story is front and center on GH with his wedding to Maxie (Kirsten Storms), and the fallout from all of the character’s dirty deeds.

Now Ramsey took to his Instagram account to address what transpired and his thoughts on the perils of social media, professionalism and acting, expressing: “Actors are storytellers, shapeshifters, chameleons. We’re also in the business of cultivating trust bc that’s how the best work is brought to life. We have to trust our imaginations, our instincts. We have to trust our fellow actors, because without them, there’s no scene to play. In the collaborative efforts of bringing any show to life, we also have to trust our directors each day to steer the arch of our story (like a conductor with a symphony) & trust our writers who are tasked with composing the symphonies we play out. I came up in a world of classical theater, where trusting the play, text, story is essential to the tightrope balancing act of making magic.  You will never hear me critique (on any public platform) the people responsible for the creative opportunities I enjoy each day. Without the trust of my writers, directors, producers & fellow actors, it would be impossible to live out my dreams. My job (& my only job) is to bring fearlessness, playfulness & passionate conviction to what has been created for me. My aim is to stretch myself (beyond the limits of where I think my boundaries may lye) each time I’m entrusted with material that allows those boundaries to be tested.

Every actor must believe they are the right person for their part or they will never achieve their potential, let alone surpass it. I was raised a gentleman & have two wonderful parents to thank for that, however, my polite personality (while rendering me easy to get along with on set) should have little bearing on my caliber of performance nor my castability as a professional.  I am leery of the pitfalls of social media & believe there are advantages to maintaining some mystery (even as a public figure) but I will always defend & protect what I hold dear (my job & my career) when they are publicly challenged, especially by those closest to me, whom I love & respect. Please know I bear no ill will. As a society, we are all still learning the full ramifications of living in an internet dominated culture. To all my many fans out there who offer encouragement & support, I hear you & am grateful for you. I’m having a blast… 🙂. Onward we go.”
