Friday April 14th brought the final episode of Ryan Seacrest as co-host of Live with Kelly and Ryan. It also provided the moment where Ryan passes the torch and his hosting gig over to Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children).
As previously reported, Consuelos joins his wife, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, All My Children), as the new co-host of the ABC syndicated morning talk show making the series name change official to Live with Kelly and Mark.

During his final episode, Ryan was treated to some retrospective clip packages of funny and emotional moments during his 6 years with the talker alongside Ripa.
As he said farewell to the behind the scenes crew, the audience at home, and Ripa, Seacrest expressed: “It’s not lost on me how fortunate I am to have held this seat for the last six years. I’ve spent my entire career talking. but today it’s hard to put into words how deeply I’ve appreciated being here and being with you, being invited into your homes every day. I’m honored to be part of this family”. Ryan added: “You took this LA stranger and made me part of your family and welcomed me into this well-oiled machined that you have led for so many years. This is a special place.”
Ripa returned the sentiments stating: “I am so grateful that our success together on this show has led to us developing an even closer, yet also codependent, relationship. From the bottom of my heart, from the bottom of all our hearts, we just want to thank you for being an original, authentic addition to this show. You are forever our family.”
The episode taped yesterday turned out to be a very emotional one for Kelly and Ryan who told USA Today: “We were backstage waiting for Déjà (Vu Parker) to make the final announcement, and I looked at him, and we just locked eyes,” says Ripa. “And I was like, ‘Oh my gosh! This sucks!’ And then we both started crying, and I was like, ‘No! No! We are not crying before we get out there. It’s going to be a disaster!'”
As Friday’s episode came to its conclusion, Mark Consuelos joined the on-screen goodbye party, and brought a very special ‘sardine’ cake and champagne. It was then, that Seacrest officially passed the baton and handed Consuelos the morning coffee mug, which on one side read, “Live with Kelly and Ryan” to the other side which read, “Live with Kelly and Mark”.

Last night on her 90th birthday, comedy legend Carol Burnett was honored during the NBC TV special, Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love. Today, April 27th,the extended cut is available to stream on Peacock.
In an interview on her career with Vulture, Burnett discussed how she eventually wound up playing the role of Verla Grubbs on her favorite soap opera, All My Children.Burnett, first played the role in 1983.

As many know, Carol was a professed longtime fan of Pine Valley, and over the years, many wondered if she asked for a role on the show and thus reached out to its legendary creator, Agnes Nixon.
Burnett revealed: “I didn’t have to. She volunteered. When I did questions and answers at the top of my show, I often talked about All My Children with the audience. I’d say, ‘Oh, I didn’t see it today. What happened?’ Because my lunch hour was built around watching All My Children. Agnes knew that, and she called and said, ‘Would you like it if I wrote a character for you?’ I said, ‘Absolutely!’ So on my hiatus, I flew back to New York and they had a whole story line for me. I was on it for two weeks, and I got to know Susan Lucci. Oh, and Susan is on the 90th! She flew out and I was thrilled. But soap operas are the hardest work, because, oh my God, you get 19 pages at night, you have to study the lines, and then you go do it in the morning. I really admire soap-opera actors, how they pull it off.”

The character of Verla Grubbs (the daughter of Langley Wallingford) appeared on AMC several times in 1983, 1995, 2005 and 2011.
