Last week fans of The Young and the Restless and Kelly Sullivan saw her Genoa City alter-ego Sage, meet her demise in a car crash.  The timing couldn’t have been worse for Sage, as she was about to tell Nick (Joshua Morow) that their son, Christian is alive and living as baby Sully with Sharon (Sharon Case) and Dylan (Steve Burton)!  But with a twist-of-fate assist from Sharon, Sage never got the opportunity to spill the beans.

Sullivan confirmed her departure from Y&R on Friday after the episode sharing on Twitter: “RIP Sage. It was such an amazing run! Thank you to the fans for all your love and support. And thank you to my Y&R family.”

Many of her co-stars shared their respect and admiration for Sullivan’s work including Melissa Claire Egan who tweeted: “Bravo to the beautiful, talented, hilarious & kind Kelly Sullivan on today’s Y&R  episode & for all the eps before. You R amazing & I love you!”   Justin Hartley, who Kelly spent many a scene with added:  “What a pleasure it was to work with Kelly Sullivan. Such a pro. Funny and really really good too. Hope to get that chance again.”

And as for Kelly’s on-screen leading man, Joshua Morrow he shared:  “You were the best and am so proud of your work … consummate pro and I miss u every day..thanks 4 being you kid.”

While Sullivan has left Genoa City she shared on social media she is hard at work on a new movie for Lifetime entitled The Stranger Inside.

Sad to see Sage and Kelly go. I really liked Sage and Kelly.

I liked Sage too, and hated that they wrote the character so one note, to make her less sympathetic before killing her off. They didn’t want to people to like her.

Doesn’t matter, KS fans who saw her performances on GH know what a terrific actress she is. It’s pity dumping this character isn’t going to do much to improve this show now.

Why don’t they consider dumping one notes Victor and Jack, or dropping them on their heads and changing their personalities for something new and interesting? 😉

Good luck, Kelly! You should do well in the TV movie industry.

You are one of the best actresses in the business!

I really liked Kelly in the role of Sage. Loved her on GH as Connie and was sad to see her be killed off there too. I think that there could have been more story to tell with Sage but understand them killing her to keep the secret around a bit longer. Also, Y&R is kinda cast heavy and they need to thin out the herd there. Wishing her all the best! B&B or Days should grab her fast!

I was hoping she’d have amnesia or something. I did not expect Sage to die.

I agree. I hope another soap is smart enough to pick her up.I too expected her to be in a coma or something but not killed off. I get so annoyed at the writers/producers. I know they have too thin their cast from time to time but we always seem to lose the stars we love and keep the dead wood. They claim they listen to the fans but if they did Kelly/Sage would not have been killed off.

I loved the character of Sage. She just blossomed from beginning to end. The one thing that has me scratching my head is why do the producers of her shows think it best to kill her off? I mean on GH she got shot and killed and on Y&R she had her baby stolen and was ejected from her car. Is she even safe in Soapland? I will miss Kelly Sullivan. Great actress. Good luck in your future endeavors. Thank you for giving us your very best to savor in the story on Y&R.

Was she wearing her seat belt?

No, she was too busy texting and driving, just like every other driver in CA, including those who crash into me.

I loved Sage and Kelly is such a wonderful actress. I just don’t understand why we had to lose her. There are so many stories that she could have had including getting her baby back, finding out Adam was the father and ending up with him and Chelsea with Nick since she seems to constantly remark on how he handles his father. Gosh we always seem to lose the great ones.

I wanted to see the scenes between Sage and Chelsea after Sage got her baby back, but doesn’t know the true paternity and then after she does. I thought there was interesting story to tell (not to mention having a great actress), but they didn’t ask me. Days should snap her up. She would be great in some role.

I agree Nikki. I was hoping to see Sage with Adam since Chelsea has become such an annoying character. Adam would have 2 baby mamas and the new conflicts that would arise from there. There was so much more story to write if Sage was still alive. Time for new writers!

I agree. The stories that could have come out of that would be amazing. I still wish they would include the fans when they have to downsize the cast. I don’t mean in a nasty way of “I hate joe blow etc”. I mean they could give Michael a cast list and ask the fans to check mark who they would eliminate. Only one vote per. I think even the television station and Sony would go along with that. My gosh when you look at what we’ve lost Mark Harding, Courtney, Sage etc. Its no wonder General Hospital walked away with almost all the awards & will continue to do so as long as we hang on to a few bore’s & lose our great stars.

Notice .. @YRInsider & @AngelicaMcD .. have not said one word about Kelly Sullivan’s departure.
Sure looks to me like Sony was behind Kelly Sullivan’s exit.

I do not know if this is true or not you would have to ask KS but it is my understanding she wanted to leave and do other projects. I hate the exit story I hated involving Case once again as the resident punching bag it has grown tiresome with me I don’t enjoy the show at all anymore and I have tried.

AMEN, SICK of JFP and CP making Sharon Case and her character the fall person. I am sure Sharon will be blamed for it all as usual. I am thinking this MAY be the way they reunite Sharon and Nick yet again. NOT that I want that because once Christian is revealed to be alive Adam and Chelsea will get custody most likely.

I am pissed that Sage was killed off.. She should have had some happy time with her baby before the car crash. I will miss Kelly because I do like her acting style. She was great as sage and I really loved her when she was Connie on GH. It’s good to know she is doing a Lifetime movie but I want to see another soap pick her up if GH can’t find a way to resurrect Connie. She really is that good.

At first I didn’t expect this story to go in the direction it has with the deaths of both Dr. Anderson and Sage. But now it looks like we’ll be watching Sharon as a basket case full of guilt over who Sully really is and can she keep it a secret. As usual with Pratt, i’m going to enjoy the fallout from what happened more than how the story got there.

maybe she will come back from the dead and play Connie again on General Hospital

Jason & Carlos came back – it could happen.

She could also do what John Abbott did and come back as a ghost.

Maybe she can show up back at GH-as Connie lookalike Bonnie…

Or a recast Claudia 🙂

I think so… just make it that it was kate Howards who died

Connie Falconeri was kidnapped

GH ! it is your duty… to have the best of the best…

Connie and Franco ….. her cousin Livia needs her

I don’t know why they couldn’t let Sage enjoy a happy reunion with her baby after all the heart ache she went through. Honestly, it felt rather anti climatic.
The same thing was done with DR Anderson and most viewers were looking for her to get her comeuppance. I thought it was almost haunting the bay Christian looked up at his mother’s face as she passed–it was if the baby knew.
I had warmed up to Sage. Initially, I could not stand the way she seemed like a Newman Stepford wife. But after she suffered the loss of her baby, she developed a backbone, a personality and demonstrated great spirit. I credit Kelly Sullivan’s great capacity for allowing her own sense of humanity to shine through her acting for winning me over.
Now, I want Sage’s ghost to haunt Sharon.

Please LEAVE Sharon out of this. I think Sharon will end up the scapegoat anyway since JFP and CP LOVE to torture her. I think this was about MONEY. They just brought in several NEW characters so they need money and Sony chose Sage to go. I suspect more characters will go…..Just a guess.

Kelly Sullivan is an absolutely brilliant actress. She was amazing on GH and incredible as Sage on Y&R. There was so much more story to tell with the baby storyline. In think the audience has been cheated out of watching the rest of the story unfold. Sad to see Kelly and Sage go so soon.

I can usually guess what is going to happen on Y&R, but Friday’s episode was a complete and shocking suprise! I’m so very sorry to see actress Kelly Sullivan leave the show. She is a consummate actress and I will miss her brilliant performances! I look forward to seeing her in future performances in other venues. I know such a talented performer will have many other opportunities!

Sorry bt I was happy to see her leave the show. Could not stand her with Nick. I;m still hoping Sharon and Nick will somehow get back together.

That’s old news. They didn’t have to kill off Sage to have Nick with Sharon. If they kept her alive and Sharon told the truth Dylan would break-up with Sharon, the minute Sage found out Adam was the real father of Christian, Adam & Sage would get together leaving Sharon, Nick, Dylan & Chelsea single. The way Chelsea has bragged about Nick & how he know how to deal with his father she would go after him. No matter how we look at it Sharon & Nick have moved on from one another and I don’t think they could last a month. Each time they get together something goes wrong.

I really like this actress. But she has yet to connect with a really well written role. On GH, she was nothing more than an apologist for Sonny, one in a long line of women who were brutally murdered due to her association with him. And on Y and R, she was so shoe horned into major story so fast while having no real connection to anyone. Her relationship with Nick was rushed and forced, and then the ubiquitous baby switch thing happened. I am glad that Chuck Pratt realized that Sage was merely a means to an end in this story, and her death puts the focus back on veterans who are left with a surprisingly well constructed and layered story that can utilize the history among Nick, Sharon, Adam, Dylan, etc. That said, she is a great actress who will continue to do well. And, please, ENOUGH baby dupe/baby switch/faux baby death stories. These people are pushing 50 years old and should be focusing on other things, like being grandparents!!

Loved you as Sage, hate these writers the way they seem to think that death is the only way for you to leave a role, it’s heartbreaking to see this day after day on this soap. I hope loosing to B&B will be a wake up call, and to listen to so many loyal fans, myself being one, up to here recently. Good luck on your new movie will definitely be looking for its air date.

I wish they would listen to fans as well. Fan’s keep them on the air so with this in mind why doesn’t Y & R producers ask the fans who they would like to see killed off?

Nikki…AGREED!!!!! Oh…and I think that soaps (in general) need to respect and listen to us soap fans A LOT MORE!!!!! LOTS MORE!!!!!!

Later, Nikki.

Gee whiz, I was blown away when Sage died. I love her as a actress, and especially as Sage. I am fairly knew to the show and followed Kelly from General Hospital. I think she is an excellent actress, and I think she’ll really go places, her acting was wasted at GH. I’m looking forward to seeing her in the future.

Fairly NEW to the show. darn spell check.

I fell in love with Kelly when she played Kate/Connie on GH. I remember the previous actor [Megan] who played the role. She was great and I NEVER though anyone could pick up heavy responsibility of playing that role. Kelly did and she was Emmy worthy, for sure. On Y&R, I didnt fall for Sage BUT I loved Kelly’s acting. Maybe Sage will have an Evil Twin? I hope Kelly goes back to GH. That show resurrects better than any!

I never thought Sage was long for Genoa City as her purpose was only to introduce the rebooted Adam, and sadly be engaged in another silly baby mix-up plot that just does not capitvate me. Maybe that is because I feel I sailed these waters before with Sharon (!) and Ashley. There is no joy here.

Miss Sullivan is an awesome actress. I greatly enjoy watching her and she was wonderful as Connie on GENERAL HOSPITAL. I wish her the best. May the casting gods grant her many good roles!

i think she is a strong actress but won’t miss Sage. the fact this happened so sudden tells me it was a cbs decision. it was a little stupid to give her a baby to only kill her off. i can’t believe their giving Sharon another paternity secret storyline when we just saw this with Summer. will not watch Sharon get thrown under the bus. their sacrificing character for plot. the storytelling on Y&R is so lazy. tired of all the car crashes

I know, right? At the end of yesterday’s episode, Doug Davidson comes on to make a public service announcement about the dangers of texting and driving. I fully expected Davidson to close his announcement with,”Another dangerous thing to engage in is conversing with Sharon before driving.”

I TOTALLY AGREE, Well said.

Really liked Kelly as Sage, and especially as Connie on GH. But seems it doesn’t pay to be a really good actor and have Kelly in your name if you are on Y&R. First Kelly/Cady McCain was unceremoniously killed off. Now Kelly Sullivan in a car accident. Combine this with kids being the victims when Abby “fell” down the stairs, Dehlia, and even Stitche’s kid, in his own way. As a newer viewer is this what there is to look forward to with Y& R besides Pratt disasters? Not so impressed!

Good riddance.

I am so sad that Sage is gone she. was the best thing to ever happen to Nick been watching this show since I was in high school that was 30 some years ago and this is the first time I want to quit watching this show I sure hope this don’t lead to Sharon and Nick getting back together because they just don’t work!

Was it really necessary to go to this extreme.. Will it be like Mike Horton who found out his real parentage in adulthood.. That baby will be aged quicker than you can say sorased just for the sake of story how silly… He’ll be dating Hillary next year… Geez

I think Kelly Sullivan is one of the best actresses on daytime. Her work on both GH and Y&R: sublime, superb! She’s beautiful and a natural. Would not be surprised to see her in prime time or feature films. As of right now, daytime’s loss…

It was a known fact that she wanted to leave, which I don’t blame her. I think there was even somewhere where she spoke of how shallow the writing is. And no shocker there. Pratt writes like YR is Melrose place. No sir. But I wish her all the best. I just hate how this puts Sharon in yet ANOTHER position about keeping a secret. Why do they do this to her constantly. Sharon was such a heroine back in the day and this show has beat her character down!! Best of luck to you, kelly!!

Wasn’t a big fan of the character but I liked KS in the role. So I’m not sad to see the character go, for me the character fulfilled her purpose when she ushered Adam back into town so I think it was past time for the character to go. But the character’s death prolongs this stolen baby story line which now will make Sharon the bad guy. She could be forgiven for it before she knew the truth, but once she did and the longer she hides the truth, the more vile will be spew at her when the truth is reveal– why do we have to go down that road again with Sharon–and this time she can’t blame it on being off her meds-

I hate that I lost Kelly twice, once on GH and again on Y&R. She’s such a fine actor and I thought when she married Nick, she was here to stay. Hate to see her go. She did great work on both shows.

She wanted out, but they didn’t have to kill her off, bad choice to do this Y&R…she could have come back later on………………

She was awesome!

cant believe sage was killed off right after finding her not so dead child….
although the twist was unexpected and shocking , im really disapointed over her exit
kelly was a great actress and story wise was hoping the baby switch would cause a sage/ adam/ chelsea triangle as hinted way back
just as nick and sharon became friends again i hope this doesnt drive sharon to decieve nick again

Aw, man…now that Sage is ‘gone’, Sharon will probably go CUCKOO for, like, the ZILLIONTH time!!!!! Oh…and AS IF Sharon is gonna honor Sage’s dying wish and tell Nick that Sully IS REALLY Christian. N-O-T!!!!! Bottom Line Here: The story of ‘Sharon The Basket Case’ is really getting O-L-D here!!!!! ENOUGH ALREADY, Y&R!!!!!!!!!! HACK WRITERS!!!!!!

their was – so – much mystery and intrigue

surrounding

Justin Hartley
Kelly Sullivan
Sally Kellerman

together this threesome looked rich history
rich family
rich personality
rich class

regal wondrous winsome the whole shebang

this could have been another family… very much in the same vein… context as the Newman and Abbott

I delighted in how short a time they existed

they could have reigned right along side

once again… Kelly Sullivan is wasted

IT”S NOW TIME… to recast Sami Brady

DAYS of OUR Lives… are you their ?

I am sad to see Sage (Kelly) leave Young and Restless. But I understand why the writers killed her off. Sage’s death was necessary in order to put Sharon and Nicholas back together. Adam and Chelsea with get Sully. And Dylan will be at lose ends.

Agree with the Why of it. But the way they wrote her off was too sad…hours after
reunion with her baby. Just too dark. Days after evil little Max took Abby’s baby from
her…jeez, the show is just getting to be too much of a soul drag. I now no longer
look forward to watching like before, and a week’s worth of episodes can easily pile
up on my DVR. That NEVER used to be! Is there even one happy storyline going on?

I am very sad over the loss of Sage and Kelly Sullivan.
Y&R is getting too dark and depressing. Characters are hostile and angry, and behaving out of character.
Time for a change in EP and writers.

I loved the character Sage and the actress was superb. I didn’t like the ending, it blindsided all of us but we wouldn’t have liked any ending where she was leaving.
She will be missed and I hope she can come back someday in some capacity.

Geez guys, she lives and you hate her and call her a “yawn fest,” then she (as everyone would assume) gets ejected from a vehicle and now she’s the best thing since sliced bread. I loved her but thought the writers didn’t do her justice. I didn’t want her to die. I would have loved to have seen some Connie come out of her and have her jump on Sharon and throttle her until she told the truth about Christian. Sometimes I wish the writers would give the actors something to sink their treth into. Shd was fully capable.

LOL

yeah it’s all insanity

the soap addiction just is

all over the place

it’s a no win matter

It was insanity to let Kelly Sullivan go from GH. I am surprised that Y&R would make the same dumb mistake. She is a brilliant actress.

She was a wonderful actress possessing the ability to change her countenance within seconds. Her demise may advance the movement of the story, however, too many people have flowed in and ebbed out during the past couple of years. Just when a new character starts to gel and connect with their audience they are shown the door. The core cast feels a bit thrown to the wind although this may not be the opportune time to try and make that case.

Best of wishes to her.

Maurice Benard Confirms Steve Burton is Upcoming Guest on ‘State of Mind’

Over this past weekend, General Hospital’s Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) revealed that he is finally going to have longtime co-star, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) on his State of Mind You Tube series for a sit-down interview.

While speaking with Soap Opera Digest at Nancy Lee Grahn’s (Alexis, GH) ALS fundraiser, Maurice confirmed the taping is happening this week and should be posted in about three weeks time.

Benard shared, “I wanted Steve Burton and I’m shooting him Tuesday, my good friend, but he’s been through a lot and I’ve been asking for three years, but he’s finally going to do it.”

Photo: ABC

In addition, to the episode, it appears Maurice also confirmed he will be doing a You Tube live on Tuesday, May 7th as well at 3 pm PT possibly with Burton.

As GH viewers know, for year Jason was Sonny’s henchman, and his right hand. Now upon Jason’s return, the two are at complete odds, due in part to Sonny’s medication being completely manipulated by Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and his growing paranoia.

As for what Burton will discuss, as Benard teased Steve has gone through a lot of personal ups and downs as well as professional, over the last three or more years, but has always landed on his feet. It will be interesting to hear this thoughts on those matters and how he soldiered through.

So, excited to see Maurice and Steve have a serious chat on State of Mind? Comment below.

Tom Selleck Continues to Think ‘CBS Will Come to Their Senses’ Following Cancellation of ‘Blue Bloods’

The Young and the Restless alum, Tom Selleck (ex-Jed Andrews), who has starred on CBS’ police procedural Blue Bloods for 14 seasons, is speaking out on the decision by the network to cancel the show.

During an interview with CBS Sunday Morning Selleck expressed his thoughts on if the show might get a last minute reprieve as Shemar Moore’s (ex-Malcolm, Y&R) S.W.A.T. has.

Tom shared,”I will continue to think that CBS will come to their senses. We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast. We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back. And I can tell you this: we aren’t sliding off down a cliff. We’re doing good shows, and still holding our place. So, I don’t know. You tell me!”

Photo: CBS

Selleck has been with Blue Bloods since its inception and its premiere in 2010, in the role of Commissioner Frank Reagan.

Aware that the cast has asked CBS to reconsider its position, CBS Entertainment President, Amy Reisenbach said, “We love this cast, we love their passion for the show. All shows have to come to an end. It’s important to us to refresh the schedule. We are going to end the show come December.”

Blue Blood also stars Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, and Len Cariou. Selleck is pictured above with former Y&R stars, Deidre Hall (now Marlena, Days of our Lives) and Jaime Lyn Bauer (ex-Lorie).
