Can’t wait !I’ve been a loyal Y&R fan for over 40 years. One of my sisters and I would role play some of the scenes but really exaggerate the drama.

Very special show for many years wish we could get that magic back ! But keeping in the spirit happy 50th

I’ll be there, front and center! I know we’ve been discouraged with lack of good SLs but like family, you don’t just dump them when they displease you.

WOW—Violet!! You’re right—-We all have members in our own families with whom tempers flair—-but, we love each other.—-except for Diane—-is she a narcissist or what? That dream of hers truly is a fantasy. All about her.LOL
No one on earth could ever take my mother’s place—-This only proves how deluded and off-the-wall-this woman is—bad news is on the way—beware GC.
Happy Happy 50th—❤️

Celia, if I believed in reincarnation then I must have been a real s.o.b. in my previous lives to have to suffer today’s Diane-centric fantasy episode. What horrors! I knew Phyllis would revert to reckless, destructive mode again but the more that Jenkins woman is rammed down our collective throats, I can’t really blame her. I found MYSELF trying to text Jeremy today, saying “I’m in, too.” Pathetic.

Here you go again, Soaphound—cracking me up—-just getting into bed and laughing my head off, as I read your comment—-ever tell you my husband thinks I’m a little crazy? He’s looking at me weirdly.
How old is Diane supposed to be?
Oh, man—I’m with you—-can’t wait for a Jeremy/Phyllis “partnership”—-in more ways than one —-this will be the next hot couple, putting everyone else to shame.
Any luck getting through to Stark? LOL

Happy 50th Y&R

Derrick, you are a fan too!!! Another reason to love you on Eyewitness News!

I have been watching the Y&R fo”r 50 years! I would watch with my mom when I’d be home from school or work. When I would get home from work, my mom would tell me what happened on the show, then one day when I came home my son came running up to me saying “Mamam Cricket got raped and Michael got caught!” That was the last time I had him watch the show, he was too young for watching then repeat it. He started watching TV with my dad instead.
Then on days when I didn’t have work, I’d watch with my mom and dad (my son was in school at this time) and my dad started ‘talking’ to the cast. While watching the show. He would complain about some of the clothes, and how many days in a row an actor/actress would be wearing the same clothes I was trying to tell him that even though in ‘real life’ it was a different day however it was the same day on the show.
I still cry to this day when there are flashbacks showing the Great Jeanne Cooper. Nrs. Chancellor was the type of hard, no holds bar down woman I wanted to be like. Same thing when they show even a picture of Kristoff St. John. Even after all these years, my heart breaks for both of those two people. They were such a huge part of my life, they were ‘family’ to me.
Then finding Doug Davidson – Paul Williams is on TWITTER! WOW and then Eric Braedon is too! They like my comments!
I like most fans am still upset that Doug Davidson isn’t on anymore, and we are to accept the fact that Christine isn’t shown with her husband. The rest of the Williams family? What about Snapper and his family?
I also remember when the theme song used to be sung at the beginning of the show. I still sing those words every day at 12:30 pm est when the show starts.
I was a wreck learning when Jerry Douglas was killed on the show as well as when he really passed away. Another chunk of my heart fell apart then,
I’m 64 years old now, unfortunately living in a nursing home (I’m the youngest resident living here) and everybody knows not to bother me or call me when the show starts until it’s over.
Since I can’t afford to stream anything, I’m hoping Y&R stays on CBS all the time. I’ve already put a note on my calendar to watch the Y&R in prime time to celebrate their 50th year of being on TV. I wish my parents were still alive so we could watch it together. I have now taken over when my dad would ‘talk’ to the characters, complain about certain outfits and when do these people go to work, and I can hear my dad’s voice in my head, and my mom telling him to be quiet already or leave the room.
Thank you to the wonderful Bill Bell and his family for this show and for allowing us fans to feel we are members of the entire family.

Question-Sharon,
You a fan/watching for 50yrs/half a century-
Did the YOUNG and the restless actually have young people??
cuz if it did they’re all senior citizens on the cast now.
Were the characters then actually young and restless?

LOL, SusieQ—According to my grandmother? Yes!! They were young and restless–especially Nikki–ohh, boy, was she ever restless!! ❤️

Celia,
Your grandmother is very right but as I said to Susie I can relate to those people who’ve grown and aged right along with me! Most of the younger ones, not so much, especially Summer lately being such a spoiled brat getting Grandma to help break up her dad and Sally, which I’m not a fan of either but he doesn’t butt into her lovelife.

Well, Violet, I fit more in your circle than you think—my grandmother introduced us ( grandchildren) to soaps—-she took care of us while our parents worked. My ideals and mores have always been old school.
So, nanna’s word was law—if she liked a character, we liked the character and vice versa. I don’t remember storylines because I was too young—-also, we were in school—but, my interest in Y&R really started when Nick’s and Sharon’s love story began.
I agree about Summer—-i don’t like the way she treats her mother—-no matter what, Phyllis means well, albeit intrusive—she’s still her mother.
As far as Sally, I can sort of understand—-Sally has a long road ahead to prove herself—-She was pretty obnoxious in the past. I can’t really blame Summer for being protective of her father; considering what a beguiled fool Nick is, at this point. It’s obvious Dummer does not trust Sally.
Aside—-I like Melody in jeans, too. Did you notice her new hair style? love it!!

HaHaHaHaHa—-you know I meant Summer. right. Violet? LOL—I mean “S” is right next to “D”—-I should sport shorter fingernails??
But, if you think Dummer is a better alternative—go for it. LOL.
I think she’s a little stuck-up, albeit I sort of like her —just a tad unapproachable.

Celia,
I had to read and re-read and then saw the second post. I am still laughing as I thought you meant Dummer as in Dumb and Dumber, but had fun trying to figure out which was which. I thought you might be referring to Nikki being as I guess she’ll be helping Summer tear Nick away from Sally. Gee, look what a slip of a finger can cause.
Oh, Nikki changes her hair a lot, so really didn’t notice but I have noticed something for years that never changes. It’s the cutest smile even at her age, if you haven’t caught it yet, it’s when she smiles and laughs full on and you see this big smile on the right side of her mouth showing her teeth. If you don’t know what I’m speaking of already, maybe you’ll catch it. As a young girl talking and flirting I guess you’d call it beguiling but I think it’s still very charming. Sorry for going on so.

LOL, Violet—I should have left it “as is”—but, Summer is not so dumb–Actually, after today’s episode ( which I just watched ), the “title” is more fitting for Phyllis. I can’t believe I’m saying this because I’ve always respected her “smartness”, for lack of a better word. She and Stark hatched up the most idiotic stratagem–they’re supposedly such astute co-conspirators. They’re doing exactly what was done to Stark–How hard is that to figure out? More Dumb and Dumber? Nick and Adam.
Then, there’s Nate and unsexy Victoria, who is sooo not a minx. No coquette there. She was never a femme fatale nor will she ever be one. Did you notice that creepy half-smile at the end of her conversation with Nate? She’s a powerful, worldly business woman—is she that hard-up? Nate? Ewww–
Speaking of smiles; yes, Melody’s smile is mysteriously fetching—-a tease!
The reason I mention her hair is because what we are presently looking at is her own hair. It has a glow and the ends do not look dry, like hay–more commonly pertaining to wigs.
No worries—I am just as guilty about going on and on—I’d keep writing, but my little Rosie needs help with her homework.

Celia,
I was still laughing last night about that D&D thing , my cat gave me a dirty look and tore off. I’m afraid she’ll have a nervous breakdown . Ha,ha!
I’m still wondering why Kyle and Summer never pursued questioning Phyllis as to to how she got the J.Stark info of him going to Paris in the first place , and then them confirming it. It would be to pat and suspicious for me. Jack did say it could be a trap. Stark wants Phyllis to get the two personal items of Diane’s, wonder if one will be the engagement ring? Yes, Victoria is hot for Nate and doesn’t have any pride in chasing after him. He’s an out and out liar right to Elanie’s face, who I think is looking unattractive these days, stress or otherwise?

SuOOO ,
Sticking my nose in here! Yes,Celia is right. Nicki was very restless, had a couple of husbands nd a baby before she was 30. Jill, another one, playing with Jack, marrying his father, etc, etc. Mrs. C already pushing 60, her mantra “I’m going to live until I die” and that she did. The booze, the men, her escapades, but I think we all loved her. I still love these characters, not the younger ones like Sally, Summer, Kyle,Maraih and her boring wife, whom I hear is thankfully leaving. There are too many of these 20-30 age group for me and I find them the most boring. Being a senior citizen myself, I just can relate to them better I guess.

Sharon Wallace,
I can relate to just about all you said about Y&R even to your son seeing and hearing too much at a young age. I had the same thing happen with my granddaughter years ago so from then on, didn’t watch when she was there.
I miss Doug Davidson too and his sleuthing as only he could do, unlike this grundgy Chance. Do you remember that big old steel thing he used as a briefcase? And Lynn who was so crazy about him? I really felt bad last week when we couldn’t see a reunion with his daughter.so many memories. Hope you enjoy the big 50th Celebration, I know I’m looking forward to it.

Finding it odd that Mark Grossman and Courtney Hope were missing from this CBS special (50th Anniversary of Y & R). What gives?

Patrick Mulcahey OUT as General Hospital Co-Head Writer

After various reports surfaced, it has been confirmed that Patrick Mulcahey is out as the co-head writer of General Hospital. This is after a very short tenure of under five months.

Mulcahey was named to the position back in January of 2024 along with longtime GH writer Elizabeth Korte. They replaced the team of Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor, who had been the head scribes of the long-running ABC daytime drama since 2019.

A source informed Soap Opera Digest that stories created by the co-head writing team of  Mulcahey/Korte team will air through mid-summer. However they added “There will be more news to share at a later date as to the composition of the new writing team.”

In addition, eagle-eyed soap fans have seen that in recent episodes former co-head writer, Chris Van Etten has been credited, as he is reportedly a breakdown writer with the show.

Soap Opera Network is reporting that Korte has assumed the head writing duties solely on her own at the moment, while Buzz blog initially reported Mulcahey’s exit.
