THIS WEEK on GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Visits Elizabeth and Jake; John Has a New Plan To Take Down Pikeman

Photos: ABC

The week of April 1-5 brings with it the pick up of the action from last week in Port Charles, where viewers witnessed a shift in several key storylines and characters. With new head writers, Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte, steering the direction of the stories, it will be interesting to see what comes next.

Official teasers for GH share that Jason (Steve Burton) will at long last visit with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and their son, Jake (Hudson West). Since Jason’s return, Jake has not been too pleased with his dad. Now that Jason has been cleared of shooting Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), will Jake come around and be closer to Jason, or will there be a continued rift? Meanwhile, will Elizabeth and Jason find common ground?

Elsewhere, John “Jagger” Cates (Adam J. Harrington) devises a new plan to take down Pikeman. Is Cates aware that Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) is running the organization while Brennan (Charles Mesure) remains behind bars? What will his plan be?

In other key points, Dex (Evan Hofer) gets an interview with the PCPD. Might he be joining the ranks with Anna (Finola Hughes), Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), Chase (Josh Swickard) et al?

Well Michael you yourself said it, at long last Jason visits Elizabeth and her son, even this new writing regime seems to favor Carly and Sam, we all know or rumor had it that when Jason was shot he was going to show up at Elizabeth door not Carly but that it was changed, so hopefully this reunion will have leg, and something more will come of it, at least storyline wise for Rebecca, its just heartbreaking seeing her play second fiddle when she should be front and center in a lot of this storyline playing. To much Carly and all the men they put her in scenes with, there’s Jason, drew jagger now, and sonny and the pikeman guy, geez I mean come on she’s not that alluring, give the other gals intown some attention.

Jason Morgan should have stayed dead. Not sure what GH was thinking but when they have a man choose another woman over (that’s not his wife) over his actual wife and kids, that’s just the worst kind of writing there is. These writers don’t consider BH a lead and they will never write a story for her. Today was the day I took GH off of my DVR. I have watched this show since the 80’s. I have hoped and prayed for a Liason reunion, but this is the final nail in the coffin. I truly hope the show loses the remaining viewers. I have no desire to watch another round of disgusting Jarly.

A “shift?” They’ve abruptly changed way too many characters behavior and feelings, without any gradual change. They went from A to Z with Joss, Anna, Dex, Sonny, Ava, Valentin. Maybe it’ll be worth it down the road after the shock wears off, but right now I feel like I’m watching an alternate GH universe. I still don’t know why they didn’t keep the fill-in writers who worked during the strike. I personally thought they were great. Stories moved at a quicker pace, the scenes were warmer between the characters, less emphasis on ripping Nina apart, and the characters weren’t too altered.

Breaking News

Patrick Mulcahey OUT as General Hospital Co-Head Writer

After various reports surfaced, it has been confirmed that Patrick Mulcahey is out as the co-head writer of General Hospital. This is after a very short tenure of under five months.

Mulcahey was named to the position back in January of 2024 along with longtime GH writer Elizabeth Korte. They replaced the team of Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor, who had been the head scribes of the long-running ABC daytime drama since 2019.

A source informed Soap Opera Digest that stories created by the co-head writing team of  Mulcahey/Korte team will air through mid-summer. However they added “There will be more news to share at a later date as to the composition of the new writing team.”

In addition, eagle-eyed soap fans have seen that in recent episodes former co-head writer, Chris Van Etten has been credited, as he is reportedly a breakdown writer with the show.

Soap Opera Network is reporting that Korte has assumed the head writing duties solely on her own at the moment, while Buzz blog initially reported Mulcahey’s exit.

We will have more on the GH writing team evolution in the days ahead.
