REVENGE: Emily's Shooter Revealed! Showrunner Sunil Nayar Weighs-In On The Choice!

Last night’s episode of Revenge finally revealed which character shot two bullets through new bride Emily Thorne (now Grayson) AKA Amanda Clarke!

After all was said and done, as viewers watched the set-up go down that was intended to frame Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) for Emily’s (Emily VanCamp) murder, thanks with an assist from Aiden (Barry Sloane) and some Chloroform, Emily’s plan went awry.   If you read any further, there are spoilers contained, if you have not seen the episode yet!

As all the guests were invited aboard the Grayson yacht post-wedding, Lydia (Amber Valletta) handed Victoria damning evidence showing Emily has been infiltrating her family for years!  Daniel (Josh Bowman) got a phone call from Sara’s (Annabelle Stephenson) roommate that she tried to kill herself!  Patrick (Justin Hartley) came back to the Hamptons and had a reunion of sorts with Nolan (Gabriel Mann), but there is trouble ahead there too!   Can you say, “remote control”?

After Victoria confronts Emily and Aiden executes his part of the plan, lo and behold, Daniel overhears the entire conversation and in a drunken stupor and angry fit over the lies Emily had told to him for two years, including the lie that she is pregnant with their child, takes the gun that is sitting a few feet from Emily, and shoots her twice!  She goes overboard! Daniel throws the gun in the ocean and the cover-up begins!

Revenge showrunner, Sunil Nayar who spoke with various press outlets last week, revealed why the choice of Josh Bowman’s Daniel to have done the deed!  Plus, he addresses, Bowman’s recent statements that the actor wants to be written-off the show! Here are a couple choice excerpts from TVLine!

Nayar on how Josh Bowman reacted when he learned he was to be Emily’s shooter:  “He was blown away… Once we knew were doing the storyline, we thought, ‘We have to talk to Josh before anybody,’ because from his acting standpoint, we wanted to give him as much time to prepare for it and make sure he was nuanceing his performance as he got up to it. He was obviously very concerned, because it’s a big move, and we kept assuring him, ‘We’re going to get you to an emotional place where we’re going to believe that you did it, and hopefully all you guys watching actually believed that he got there. I think he did. He did a fabulous job, but he was knocked out that he was going to be the shooter. But also, in a very legitimate way, we wanted to make sure we were going to attend to the nature of his character going forward, and it wasn’t going to be for simply sensational effect like, ‘Holy moly, I can’t believe it’s Daniel’; it actually informs his character going forward, and the dynamic between Emily and all of the Graysons. With his input, we really got to the right place for it, and you’ll see where we get to going forward.”

Nayar on Josh Bowman’s statement that he wanted to be killed-off: “Josh had gotten himself into a space, because he knew he was doing this storyline, that some of the darkness was in his remarks in a way. He had just such a commitment to where his character was going that he, in his mind, just let it go to the nth degree. When he was just talking to the reporter, he let his imagination get away from him a little bit, just because he was living in the darkest place his character’s ever going to be. Coming out of it, anybody could die on Revenge at any time, so it wasn’t an insane thing to say, but we love Josh and obviously we have plans for his character.”

So, what did you think of the choice of Daniel shooting Emily?  Were you surprised?  When Revenge returns with all-new episodes in January, Emily will have amnesia, which will pave the way for a whole new set of circumstances! What do you think of that plot twist? Comment below!

I loved it! Love the show; while some may say Revenge has had its day, I’m still an ardent fan. I’ve also liked Daniel; I thought and still think he was an innocent victim of Emily/Amanda…and I had hoped at some point she’d fall in love with him. That would have made for an interesting turn of events as well. As for Daniel shooting her, he was already in a conflicted state-of-mind…feeling intensely for his ex, doing the right thing by marrying Emily, promising to be loyal and a good father…only to feel betrayed. Everyone on this show is trigger-happy so it wasn’t such a stretch for me. What was more of a stretch was that he didn’t seem to have remorse after-the-fact.

I hope he doesn’t exit the show. He’s beautiful to look at….;) and I like his character. As a matter of fact, there’s a whole lotta eye candy on this show!

not in the least surprised .. my only ‘ah’ or ‘wtf’ moment was when her dress washed up .. that was hard to believe .. how’d it come off .. did a mermaid help unzip her??????

Can’t hardly wait for the next season!!
Revenge is a great primetime soap!!
The cliffhanger ending was not expected, not at all..
Everything took a big turn from what was planned,,

In NYC it was preempted right at the moment Patrick reaches for a remote control in Nolans house, what happened? It came back for the end, but a couple of minutes were missed

you can catch the whole episode on hulu.com

@Rob Patrick opened the drawer and found the remote that exposes the safe in the wall with Em’s infinity box, the one behind the painting.

Thank You!

I can not believe that the promos didn’t actually give the whole thing away. I am so happy about that. Everything I saw in the ads was really Emily and Adien’s vision of how the plan should go. Loved the double-cross so that we really didn’t know what was going to happen until it actually did.

I’m looking forward to the show’s return!

if daniel is gone then thier wont be any revenge to have, victoria’s other son is gay and in love with nolan so its gotta be the last season

Huh?

The revenge was never about Daniel, it’s about destroying Victoria & Conrad. And everyone else that was complicit in David Clark’s destruction/death. So, the show could go on for a very long time if they choose to continue. The writers are very clever and always come up with ways to continue the plotting.

IF Emily had actually pulled off her plan, then I would say the show was ending, but I don’t think that’s the case.

HUH?/ I DIDNT SAY IT WAS ABOUT DANIEL!! I KNOW REVENGE IS ABOUT GETTING REVENGE ON VIC AND CON AND EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT THE BEST WAY TO GET SOMEONE WITH KIDS BACK IS TO HARM THIER KIDS HELLOOO.

As a longtime fan of Emily VanCamp since she was on Brothers & Sisters, I thought it was funny at the wedding when the minister referred to her as Emily REBECCA Thorne.

Haley Pullos Receives 90-Day Jail Sentence Following DUI Charge And Wrong-Way Car Crash

Former General Hospital actress, Haley Pullos (ex-Molly Lansing-Davis) is going to be doing time in jail, exactly one-year after her arrest from a hit and run wrong-way car collision.

The crash resulted in bodily harm and damages to the other driver, and now Pullos who pleaded “no contest” to the charges and will serve 90 days in jail. She was taken in custody on Monday, April 29th, after the ruling.

According to Haley’s attorney, Mark Daniel Melnick, the 25-year-old actress struck a plea deal and after her three months in jail will be sentenced on July 29th. As part of that sentencing, she must serve five years probation, 200 hours of community service and pay $8,260 in restitution to Courteney Wilder, the other driver in the crash and her driver’s license is revoked for a year.

According to TMZ, the plea deal for Pullos has the “no contest” to one DUI, while the judge dropped the felony DUI causing bodily injury and misdemeanor hit and run charges.

Melnick said in a statement to PEOPLE, “Haley is very grateful to the court for a minimum sentence and for recognizing her remorse and the strides she has made in her sobriety.”

Pullos had played the daughter of Alexis Davis (played by Nancy Lee Grahn) on the ABC soap opera since 2009, but after her car crash and DUI she was replaced by three different actresses until the show finally settled on the current Molly, Kristen Vaganos.

Back in April 29 of 2023, and at the scene of the crash, the police found edibles and mini-bottles of tequila in Pullos’ vehicle and that she was intoxicated. As it turned out, this was to be the second hit and run in the evening for Pullos who had an earlier collision with another car.

The courts decision follows a year-long legal battle with Haley’s pleas changing throughout it, ranging from “not guilty” to “no contest”. She sought treatment for her drinking at a rehab following the crash.

Nancy Lee Grahn, who portrayed Pullos’ on-screen mom took to X on Monday night, April 29th and shared on the sentence and the specific jail, Haley will be serving time: “As Haley’s TV mom I can tell some truths about her as I’ve loved her since she was little girl. She made a HUGE mistake, knows it, owns it & has spent the last yr doing EVERYTHING imaginable to take responsibility 4 it. It’s not that I oppose jail. It’s that I oppose this jail.” The jail in question by Grahn is the L.A. county jail.

So, what do you think about Haley Pullos serving a 90-days jail sentence, and the other rulings that will be part of her sentencing? Comment below.

Kimberlin Brown Back to The Bold and the Beautiful

As expected, although viewers didn’t know exactly when it would be revealed, on today’s April 29th episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, Sheila Carter is found alive and well.

Finn (Tanner Novlan) and Deacon (Sean Kanan) make the discovering that Sheila didn’t actually die; and that it was her plastic surgery makeover lookalike, Sugar, that met her maker. That means, Sheila’s portrayer, Kimberlin Brown, is back on the show and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) killed Sugar in self-defense, not Sheila.

Speaking on what was a shocking return for her, Brown chatted with Deadline about her getting the opportunity to resurrect Sheila one more time and with a new contract to boot.

When asked if she thought B&B’s executive producer and head writer, Brad Bell changed course midstream in the story, Kimberlin expressed, “Either that or he had this in mind all along and just didn’t tell me about it! But I can’t see anybody doing anything that evil, however. That would be a Sheila moment.”

Photo: JPI

Kimberlin also shared how she first learned she was being let go from the show, recalling, “Brad called me upstairs to talk to me about what he had in mind for Sheila. It was a hard pill for me to swallow. It had been years of playing Sheila, and I consider her my baby, so to speak. And that was definitely not news I was anticipating or hoping to receive.” She added “When I walked into his office, he looked at me and went, ‘We’re killing off your character.’”

As to what the future holds for Sheila, enduring villainess and fan favorite, Kimberlin Brown, shared some intel: “I am happy to say that I have been asked to negotiate another contract.’

So, glad to know that Kimberlin Brown is back as Sheila Carter? What do you think will be Sheila’s next move? Did you believe for a second, maybe two, that Sheila would really be ‘dead-dead’ on the soaps? Comment below.

(INTERVIEW) Y&R’s Eric Braeden Chats on His First Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination in 20 Years, Why He Entered the Race After Voting Reform, and His Enduring Legacy as Victor Newman

The Young and the Restless’ iconic Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) received his first Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination in 20 years, when NATAS and the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards revealed who would be going for gold at the upcoming ceremony on June 7th live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.

The iconic Braeden is a past Lead Actor recipient having won back in 1998. However, the last time Eric was nominated in the category was 2004. Throughout his enduring run on the top-rated CBS soap opera, he has now received a total of 9 Lead Actor nominations and a 10th, when back in 2002, along with Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki), they were nominated in the now defunct and then special fan voted category for “America’s Favorite Couple.”

This year, Eric’s nominated reel features scenes between Victor and Adam (Mark Grossman) where they discuss their fractured relationship as father and son, and the struggles and conflicts they have had personally and in business. In addition, Braeden also shares scenes with Melody Thomas Scott’s Nikki, where Victor voices his disappointment that the Newman children seemingly can’t get along and work together within the Newman dynasty. In Eric’s reel, the only characters who make appearances are the aforementioned Adam and Nikki.

Michael Fairman visited the set of The Young and the Restless for a special video sit-down with the legendary star exclusively for the Michael Fairman Channel.

During the conversation, Eric touched upon why he will participate in the Daytime Emmys at this point in his career due to changes in the voting procedures, his most embarrassing Emmy moment, how he feels about his fellow nominees, and that he wilattending this year’s ceremony.

Here are a few excerpts from the interview below, followed by the full video interview in its entirety.

How does it feel to get your first Lead Actor nomination in 20 years?

ERIC: You can’t help but feel very good about it. I had not submitted any stuff for more than 10 years, because I didn’t believe in the voting process. Finally, the academy had the sense to invite outsiders to widen the circle of those who vote for this. You cannot ask for objectivity when you vote from within only your company. That’s nonsense. Then, personalities play a role in who likes who. I’m very happy about the nomination, though.

You had some scenes between father and son on your nominated reel, as Victor and Adam (Mark Grossman) discuss their complex relationship and history. How was working with Mark?

ERIC: Mark Grossman is a wonderful actor. He’s a good actor.

You would up this year in a Lead Actor category that also features: John McCook (Eric, B&B), Thorsten Kaye (Ridge, B&B), Scott Clifton (Liam, B&B), and Eric Martsolf (Brady, DAYS). I think you know some of these gentlemen?

ERIC: Thorsten Kaye is a very good actor. I’ve known John McCook for 150 years, I think 140 years, maybe. And the other gentlemen, I don’t know, but I’m sure they’re all worthy of receiving the same award.

Photos: CBS and JPI

I talked to Eric Martsolf after he received his Daytime Emmy nomination, and he said he’s so honored to be in the category with you, and that his late mother would be so thrilled that he’s in the category with Victor Newman. My late mom felt the same way when she came to the set and met you years ago. For so many people, you are the guy they all want to meet.

ERIC: That’s nice. That’s really very touching to know. This medium in that sense has been wonderful. As I’ve told you before, I joined this reluctantly and signed on for three months, and here I am 44 years later. That’s very nice to know about Eric’s mother, and your mother.

What was your reaction to finding out you were nominated?

ERIC: To be very frank with you, I was very happy. I said “Oh, that’s nice.” Someone had listened because I’d complained for years about the voting system, and it was based on pure laziness as far as I’m concerned. There are 150,000 registered actors in Hollywood. You can’t tell me that you can vote only from within your company. It’s nonsense. It’s not right. You know, let other actors from the outside be judges of what they see.

Photo: Courtesy/NATAS

I believe when you won in 1998, you didn’t go to the Emmy’s, right?

ERIC: I was doing a Shakespeare play that evening, if I recall. However, I’ve got to tell you about the most embarrassing moment. Aretha Franklin was a big fan of the show and of mine. She had asked me if I would present with her at Radio City Music Hall in New York. These producers when you accept an award, be it the Oscars or whatever it is, they will sit in the booth, and they say, “Move on, move on, move on.” They want you to get on and off stage very quickly. That should not be allowed. When you receive an award, then it should last a little. So, there’s a ticker thing in front of me, and you look at it and kept on saying, “Eric Braeden move on.” I’d hardly been there with Aretha Franklin and I wanted to thank Bill Bell (co-creator and former head writer, Y&R). We owe everything to him. We owe everything to that man’s foundation and his genius. So, I stood there with Aretha and I saw again “Eric Braeden.” So I said, “And I would like to thank Eric Braeden.” The moment I said it, I wanted to sink in to the ground. Fortunately, it was a long time ago, but I had to bring it up again because I’ll never forget it.

Photo: CBS

You’ve done so much for this industry, so much for Y&R, and the soaps. You’re an icon in it. It must be nice to get recognized by your peers, at this point in your career.

ERIC: It felt wonderful, no question. I even sent the nominating announcement to my brothers in German. I’m very happy about it, very proud of it, you know.

So, will you be rooting for Eric come Emmy night to take home his first Lead Actor Emmy in 20 years? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
