The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) today announced that television icon, Betty White, will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards broadcast on Sunday, April 26, 2015.  The awards ceremony will televised live on Pop at 8:00 p.m. EDT/5:00 p.m. PDT from the Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, CA.

Betty White is an American institution,” said Bob Mauro, President, NATAS. “Betty’s career as a female pioneer has followed television from literally the beginning of the medium, winning her first Emmy Award in 1952, to the digital-streaming future, winning again in 2010. She is one of the most beloved female performers in the history of television and the National Academy is proud to be honoring her with a most well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award.”

“Betty White is the ‘First Lady of Game Shows,’” said Senior Vice President, Daytime, David Michaels. “Betty was the darling of ‘Password, where she met the love of her life, Allen Ludden, and a favorite on ‘Match Game,’ ‘The $25,000 Pyramid,’and countless others. She was the first woman to receive an Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host in 1983 for the show, ‘Just Men.’ From her iconic dramatic turn as Ann Douglas on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful,’ to her classic sitcom performances, to her movies and books, Betty is a woman who has excelled in everything she has ever done. She is also one of the nicest women in show business and we are proud to be bestowing this honor on such an exemplary role model for our entire industry.”

Ms. White will be joining an illustrious group of previous Lifetime Achievement Honorees including, Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Walters, Merv Griffin, Dick Clark, Bob Barker, Phil Donahue, Regis Philbin, Alex Trebek and many others.

Id like to see Betty White make two day guest appearance on GH as the Spencers long thought dead mother Lena who has actually been in a mental hospital all these years claiming to be someone named ‘Sue Ann Nivens’ and then someone named ‘Rose (4get last name on Golden Girls)’…lol

Lol, Jimh. I believe the last name is Nylund?…from Minnesota, ya betcha, don’tcha know?
Hey, Su, did I spell that correctly?….LOL. I loved ‘Rose’ and the Minnesoooota , American English , Fargo accent, with a hint of Norwegian…part of my ancestry. That’s a mouthful.
Betty White is an extraordinary actress, and human being. Good for her…she deserves every kind of award. God Bless her!

jimh, that would be totally brilliant! I love it!

Oh god, please no special appearances. I’ve had enough of this lady.

If this will get more eyeballs for the Daytime Emmy’s, then I am all for it.

She does add legendary status to the awards.

Awesome!

Great news! Betty White is a link from the earliest stages of television and she has done it all in the medium. I miss her on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL. That Stephanie and her mother story was among that series’ best efforts. And having White at the ceremony is genuine catnip for audiences. I have great faith in this year’s Daytime Emmys presentation. Thank you, Academy! And thank you, POP!

And thank you, Michael Fairman, for your efforts to promote and to support a genre many of us love.

I love how she was the one to present the memorial for Guiding Light the year it got cancelled, I thought that was really cool that she did that.

Well deserved award and I’m surprised Betty White hasn’t already received this honor.

Shouldn’t Betty White be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Primetime Emmys instead of the Daytime Emmys? I know she had recurring and guest appearances on daytime soaps, panelist on game shows, and won a daytime emmy for hosting a short-lived game show, but she should be awarded for Lifetime Acievement at the Primetime Emmy Awards since she made more of an impact on primetime shows with The Mary Tyler More show, The Golden Girls, and Hot In Cleveland! Why hasn’t AMC’s Susan Lucci been awarded a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award yet?

Well deserved to the incomparable Betty White!

Betty is such a lovely, funny lady. A kind of funny I think a lot of the newer, edgy-type comedians could learn from.

Congrats to Betty– she deserves the honor and the fact they are including the presentation at the Daytime Emmy Awards instead the prime time, speak volumes to the turn around the leadership is giving these Awards. Personally I would love to see her host the awards, I think she would be great host–

F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!!!!!!!!!!

I’m a little surprised, but she was on lots of game shows and was fabulous on B&B. Happy for her. She deserves it.

Miss White is a true living legend – she’s done it all and deserves any and all accolades bestowed upon her!!

Love Betty White! A true inspiration of a life well lived!

Thats great. She is an institution. They should cast her on GH as Morgan’s new love interest!

Hahahaha…now THAT was funny!

Timmm…your post made me TOTALLY LMAO…GOOD ONE…LOL!!!!! Or, how about this: Maybe GH can cast Betty White as a long-lost relative (or whatever) of Dr. O…H-E-L-L-O!!!!! Dude…I am already envisioning the on-screen FIREWORKS between those two…ULTIMATE L-O-L!!!!!!! Hey, just an idea……….

Later, Timmm.

Love Betty White…so inspiring…and great animal lover/advocate. Anyone interested should try find DVDs of her 1953 to 1955 (I think those are up the years) sitcom Life With Elizabeth. Very funny and a very young Betty.

I had that dvd…she was great in that too!!!

I think it would have been great to have awarded Deidre Hall, Leslie Charleson or Melody Thomas Scot the award. All three ladies have contributed to Daytime for many years and not one of these fine actresses have an emmy to show for it. Totally unacceptable!

Scott!

I love Betty White, she is a classy. sassy lady. Who is going to host the daytime emmys? I want Erica Slezak to host the emmys. I want Erica back in Daytime, cast her on the Young And The Restless as the new Dina Abbott.

Erica is too young to play Dina Abbott. She and Peter (Jack) are almost the same age.
Then again, Kassie D. (DOOL) ,who plays C. Shaughnessy’s daughter, is only six years his junior.
If these soaps were true to life, Dina should be resting in eternal sleep.
Jack has a son (Kemo) in his forties….he should be a grandfather many times over. Yet, he is still acting the lovelorn teen chasing women the same age as his son. This character is ageless.

Lorenzo, Erica Slezak would be great as Dina Abbott, Mergeron. Give her a call producers. Lorenzo you rock my friend.

Lorenzo…s-o-r-r-y…but I DO NOT want that Dina Abbott character to come back to Y&R any time soon. No. Here’s why: To me, Dina is nothing but a toxic, stuck-up and self-centered WITCH who has ALWAYS had a very self-righteous and a very high-and-mighty ATTITUDE!!!!! Also, I CANNOT STOMACH the idea of that god-awful Dina character being re-cast with another actress. I don’t care who it is!!!!! Bottom Line Here (well, at least for me, anyway): I’ve NEVER LIKED the character of Dina Abbott…and I NEVER WILL!!!!!! Nope. Don’t care.

You go, jaybird. ?..took the words right out of my mouth. And, YOU ROCK, my friend…peace out. Later.

GHs Constance Towers would make a fine Dina Abbot!!!

yes Jim, Constance would be wonderful. What about louise Sorel ex Vivian on Days? I love her too. Constance is a terrific actress.

Right on, jimh. Now, that’s more like it, albeit Dina was never THAT diabolical. However, age-wise and talent-wise, Constance would be perfect. But, do we really need Dina?

Serena Scott Thomas to Days of our Lives, But What Role Will She Play?

Look who’s coming to Salem next? In a tease on their official Instagram account, Days of our Lives has revealed that Serena Scott Thomas has been on set and will debut in an upcoming role, leaving many fans guessing just who might she play.

The English actress and documentary producer has previously starred in Diana, Her Story as Diane Prince of Wales, Dr. Molly Warmflash in the James Bond  film The World Is Not Enough, and played the villainess ‘Watcher” in Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, and Bruce Willis’ wife in the film, Hostages among others.

Serena is the younger sister of Kristen Scott Thomas, best known for her Oscar-nominated role in The English Patient. Several DAYS fans are already weighing in that Serena will play Konstantine’s (John Kaeplos) wife.

However, NannyKat 63 may have it all figured out the best, when she posted, that not only will “Serena play Kostantine’s wife,” but the character “had an affair with Victor Kiriakis and got pregnant.” Thus, making Xander (Paul Telfer) her son. She went on to theorize, “Perhaps, And John and Steve will find her in the nick of time… and she’ll enter in time to stop the wedding of Maggie to him. Xander will find out his true identity then. The baby was given to Victor’s brother to be raised in Scotland.”

Sounds plausible to us! Another guess came from donnamoore_23 who said, “Ya’ll think he could be Bobberette ‘s mom or sister or .. SOMETHING to do with his story .. someone who can back up what trauma he went through to be so sick? 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I think y’all are right could be Katerina.”

Two DAYS stars, Tamara Braun (Ava) and Linsey Godfrey (Sarah) also shared comments on Serena Scott Thomas’ upcoming appearance on DAYS. Godfrey simply said, “YES!!!! while Braun add her guess, expressing, “Ava’s mum. Oh wait, her mom was killed by her dad. Or was she? 🤔”

So, what do you think? What role will Serena Scott Thomas play on Days of our Lives? Share your theories in the comment section below.
