This morning General Hospital Daytime Emmy winners will be participating in a television exclusive when they appear in segments on the ABC morning show, The View!

After much speculation as to why Daytime Emmy winning ABC talent was not allowed to participate in what has now become a annual post- Emmy tradition on the CBS afternoon series The Talk, where they welcome they welcome last night’s big winners, it all becomes clear now.

The View will welcome direct from the set of the ABC soap opera in Los Angeles newly crowned Daytime Emmy winners: Anthony Geary (Luke), Maura West (Ava), Chad Duell (Michael) and Donna Mills (Madeline)!

If you miss the live airing today at 11AMET/10AMPT, the episode will also be available to watch online daily at 4:00 p.m., ET/1:00 p.m., PT on ABC.com.

What do you think about The View having the GH Daytime Emmy winners on their show live from the set of the daytime drama series and thus not participating on The Talk?  Smart competitive move? Weigh-in below!

somebody at ABC is petty. Why doesn’t abc want everybody celebrating together

You would think that ABC would want as much publicity for the show as they could get, not letting the actors do the TALK does seem petty and really makes no sense.

Geary said on The View that he told Valentini that he wanted to explore Luke’s dark side. But Fluke wasn’t Luke’s dark side when the story started and according to Geary, he was informed of the change when he got back from his surgery. Is Geary trying to do damage control after he let the cat out of the bag that the story was changed, ( makes no sense since you can’t close the barn door after you let the horse out) or did he just misspeak by saying he wanted to explore Luke’s dark side, when he meant he just wanted to play dark?

That is exactly what Geary is trying to do, AJQ. As much as I enjoyed the interview, as Geary did conduct himself with poise, he made a complete turnabout.
I always trust everything you write as being close to the truth as possible. You always point out what many overlook……and, I agree with you.

That is kind of weird, robert.

Didn’t realize Maura had such a sense of humor.
Everyone was great on THE VIEW.
I thought Chad was so cute…he got a little nervous…stumbled a bit when posed a question…how human of him….LOL.

Good question ? Its shows that people at abc are nick pickie and petty. The talk welcome nbc Days winners & why not abc. Very childish

It’s a cross-promotion thing. ABC owns, produces & airs both GH & THE VIEW. Actors from any ABC shows are usually interviewed only on ABC-related talk shows, like Jimmy Kimmel in the evening and THE VIEW in the morning. This is the way it’s been done for a long time because networks do not want to promote a show from a competing network or company. The exceptions are actors from series that air on the FOX or CW networks, which don’t have comparable talk shows in daytime or evening. Their actors & shows are frequently promoted by ABC, NBC & CBS talk shows because they are popular with the younger age group, and bring in higher ratings.

Talk about trying to create controversy out of nothing. ABC has the Emmy winning actors from GH appear on their own network’s daytime talk show, as opposed to the daytime talk show of another network. Nothing petty whatsoever about that. It’s just common sense. Having the GH people on The View was great publicity for the show.

I feel the major networks should be ashamed for not wanting to air the Daytime Emmys. Most of the winners were from one of the three (ABC, CBS, NBC). So many viewers missed the show because of that. The longevity is in daytime, what don’t they get. The View, The Talk, The Chew, next up The Few (fall of the networks).

Lita, if you could see the ratings when the Daytime Emmys were broadcast on prime time, you’d understand. I’ve said it before – TV is NOT a charity. Every single minute of broadcast time is calculated profit for a network. The DE’s aren’t broadcast because the ratings were not good, and advertisers refuse to spend premium dollars for a show that doesn’t hit their most preferred demographic (young adults, ages 18-39). If the advertisers won’t spend the money to support the show, there isn’t a show.

It doesn’t become clear to me. Why are the winners not allowed on the set?

GH is filmed in Los Angeles. I think all the soaps are. But, THE VIEW is filmed in NYC. It’s physically impossible to win the Emmy (the ceremony took place in L.A.) late Sunday night, and show up at THE VIEW’s studio the next morning. To interview all the GH winners, they just did a live telecast from the set of GH because most of the actors (& exec producer, Frank Valentini) were working.

Since, the view airs in New York City and General Hospital airs in Los Angeles, I dont think the winners would have time to fly to LA in time for the interview.

Shameless. Nobody hardly watches the View anymore, so to lure GH fan base to that show in order to see these interviews they ban those honorees from attending CBS celebrations. This isn’t about celebrating GH, this about promoting the View and ABC– not unexpected, but comes across as petty.

Let’s not rush to judgment. None of us knows what goes on behind the scenes…well, I take that back…su0000 knows, right, Su? LOL.

It’s to be expected…The View and The Talk are in competition. What really bothers me is that none of the “big three” networks had anything on their morning shows the day after about the winners. I made it a mission to jump from one to the other, and check their online page. They may mention them later, like The View, but still surprising since they all had winners, including their soaps. They do morning after for every other award show…and there are now a zillion of those now. Just another snub of shows that have been airing for years, their fans, as well as actors and writers who deliver shows 5 days a week, all year, without taking time out for mid-season finales. They can’t even find room in their schedules to air the awards on network TV, even if only for 1 hr, split the costs, or a Saturday afternoon…oops this might cut in on some sporting event.

P.S. And at least The View is on in the morning, unlike The Talk which completes with, and is on when GH airs is on my market.

I love THE VIEW, Rose….I don’t care how much others hate it. So, okay, THE TALK puts on a good show…but, it is a carbon copy, nonetheless. I like the real thing.
What bothers me the most is how people demean the panel’s intelligence on THE VIEW….or demonize Whoopi. She is a wonderful, charitable and very altruistic human being.
Not one of the ladies on THE TALK can hold a candle to the intellect , humanitarianism and expertise shown by the ladies of THE VIEW.

“CeeCee”

“Thank You”

this season… brought me back to “The View”

YES : LOL

Rosie O has moved on again… but… I am just thoroughly enjoying Whoopie’ chutzpa this season… and …. Rosie Perez… hardly stammers at all… she’s progressed

and YES… I have to prompt…People of color … but these two ladies… make the show, for me… I don’t even mind Nicole… I think it works that “she” is given airtime to “prompt” or “aid” the republican agenda… LOL it still doesn’t come across as any thing i’d consider.
Nicole is actually enjoying herself… imagine that…. LOL

I think it’s sad how ABC is acting toward this…………….

Why wouldn’t ABC want their stars to be exclusively on their talk show The View instead of the competition The Talk. Its a business thing nothing to do with being petty.

Right on, Sean. That is exactly the “thing”.

Nbc winners on The talk , hello

Too bad it wasn’t announced in advance, unlike The Talk.

Charday, THE TALK is all about sensationalism, that’s why.

Let them enjoy their awards.

Why make they suffer?

Ok , folks Days stars were on the talk too & there from NBC. So what is y’all answer to that Abc supporters. The view has not been the same since Barbara & Joy left.

As I said, no one knows what goes on behind the scenes. Perhaps NBC had no representation, and since DOOL is filmed in LA, as is Y&R and THE TALK, it was easiest to arrange.
I watch all three soaps, DOOL, Y&R and GH…. I love all three. I do not pick and choose…

Jon Lindstrom and Cady McClain Announce They Have Ended Their Marriage

After much speculation, General Hospital’s Jon Lindstrom (Kevin) and Cady McClain (ex-Jennifer, DAYS, ex-Rosanna, ATWT, ex-Dixie, AMC et al) have officially confirmed and announced they have gone their separate ways and have ended their marriage.

For months on social media, it was clear that the two were seemingly apart, not appearing pictured in any of each others posts.

Now, on a mutually shared Instagram post, Jon and Cady made an official statement on the status of their relationship, beginning with “Cady and Jon here. We are taking this opportunity to make a short statement about our relationship status. It may be obvious to some based on our posts that we’ve taken some time apart. After serious consideration we have decided that our goals have been taking us in different directions and to end our marriage.”

As to the future, Jon and Cady explained, “We remain friends and wish each other every happiness. As people who work in the public eye, it can be difficult to have a private life. Regardless, we ask for your kind consideration in this matter.”

Jon and Cady met when they both appeared on As the World Turns, he as Craig Montgomery, and she as Rosanna Cabot. After four years together, the couple decided to get married in 2014.

Adam Huss Makes Another Return to General Hospital as Nikolas Cassadine

Nikolas Cassadine will be back on your screens next week but now via Pentonville. That means, that actor Adam Huss is back for a visit for all-new episodes of General Hospital.

In story, Ava (Maura West) comes to visit her ex in the slammer. So, just what does Ava want now? She clearly has been working an agenda on Sonny (Maurice Benard). Is she working with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart)? What will she tell Nikiolas? stay tuned.

Meanwhile, once news of Huss’ return broke earlier on Friday via Soap Opera Digest, he also announced his return on his Instagram expressing, “For all those who’ve been asking, cat’s out of the bag;) Thank you to all my #Nikolas #GH fans for your unwavering support. I don’t take it for granted for a second! (Even when I can’t answer 😊) #generalhospital”

Photo: ABC

Huss took over the role of Nikolas back in January of 2023, after Marcus Coloma left the soap opera. Previous to that, Huss filed in for Coloma in September of 2021 and November of 2022. Fast-forward to January of 2024, Nikolas gave Ace to Laura and Kevin to raise, while he eventually turned himself into the police for kidnapping Esme and keeping her hostage while she was pregnant and Wyndemere.

The return of Huss comes on the heels of multiple reports that his on-screen son, Nicholas Chavez is not returning to the show as Spencer Cassadine, while in story Spencer is believed to have drowned int the Seine River after falling off a boat in France, when drugged by Esme.

So, looking forward to seeing Adam Huss back as Nikolas? Do you think GH will eventually have him more full-time? Comment below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Sonny and Jason Trade Threats on Each Other

The love affair that once was mobster Sonny (Maurice Benard) and hit man Jason (Steve Burton), and having each others back, is now apparently over! On the Thursday April 25th episode of General Hospital, an increasingly paranoid Sonny is confronted by Jason.

Jason wants to talk to Sonny about a “family matter”, but Sonny says they aren’t family now because he’s working with the Feds. Sonny goes on to say how he cannot trust Carly (Laura Wright) or Jason and he knows about Jason buying back the Metro Court for Carly from Nina (Cynthia Watros).

When the conversation turns to Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Dex (Evan Hofer), Jason informs Sonny that Kristina (Kate Mansi) knows Sonny ordered a hit. Jason is worried about Dex’s safety. He tells Sonny that if he does something to Dex, Kristina will figure out that he is responsible.

Sonny goes on to say how much he loves his kids and how he will protect them. He then tears into Jason for abandoning his sons, Danny and Jake, for two years and how he has no right to stand there to tell him what to do.

Jason warns Sonny again to leave Dex alone or he’ll personally stop him. Sonny snaps at Jason, countering, “You’ll die trying!” And at that point, Jason walks out and Sonny slams the door behind him.

What do you think about this split in the longstanding relationship of Jason and Sonny? Do you like Jason and Sonny at odds? Will Kristina be the person to ultimately figure out what is happening to Sonny, or it might it be Nina, who knows Ava (Maura West) is up to no good? Share your thoughts in the comment section, but first watch this clip from part of the Sonny/Jason scenes below.
