Saddened on several levels about Prince leaving us. So sorry a man who brought us so much had to be found alone in an elevator.

Can’t remember ever shedding tears for the passing of any entertainer. Tonight thinking he’ll never be on TV again and remembering how it was so exciting to see Prince performing, ended up sobbing for the loss and the unfairness of the ending of his creativity. He had so much more to give us. I do hope his spirit is peaceful tonight knowing the global love shared on social media, like Twitter, and among strangers today for hours expressing the same thing: We did love Prince more than we even knew. We were blessed to live during the years he gave us so much of his genius. Thank you, Prince.

I really appreciate the honest

your post is my exact sentiment for Natalie Cole… heart wrung out

when we learned that … Maurice White… from Earth Wind and Fire.. passed

Prince Rogers Nelson… magic artistry… played all instruments.. and had full creative control…

serious tears.. that a mindset is passed

I liken musical artists

#1
sports figures #2
Film Stars #3
notwithstanding… telee performers.. #4

I have two of his songs on my mp3 player

Controversy and Baby i’m a star

though not a conscious fan of: I laud his person.. beyond his music.. as was stated on CNN

staying true to his religion… he contributed privately to so many.. for this… i’m struck

it hurts

Kristoff St. John’s comment reminds me of another Prince connection to daytime: Vanessa Marcil was featured in the video for “The Most Beautiful Girl In The World.”

Was trying very hard not to cry at work yesterday. His music is part of the soundtrack of my life. My favorite commercial success song is “Let’s Go Crazy” and my favorite spiritual song is Under a The Cherry Moon.

Wow—there were alot of prince songs that hit the right chord in me including the song that starts off his “Hit And Run Phase 2” album which is titled “Baltimore”. If I had to pick one, it would be “Little Red Corvette”. The guitar in that song speaks to me in volumes. I will miss you Prince. Your music has always meant so much to me.

I remember hearing that Prince was a “General Hospital” fan and had a crush on Vanessa Marcil. He picked her specifically to play an actress in the video for “Most Beautiful Girl in the World.”

Yes Vanessa was the star of gh and she needs to come back and bring her star power back to a show that is sadly lacking it.

They met at a bar she frequented and he asked her why she was wasting her life away partying every night, sleeping until noon and then waking up and doing it all over again. She said (in her Intimate Portrait on Lifetime) that after that conversation she pretty much quit drinking cold turkey. That was shortly before she auditioned for GH.i

He lived his life the same way. That’s this is so shocking – there is more to the story.

And if I had to pick one “favorite” from him – difficult as it is – I would say Condition of the Heart.

“Get Off”, one of my favorite songs. Hard to pick ONE favorite. It would be like trying to pick a favorite Quartermaine! But anyway, Prince was part of my youth. I respected him for being a musician, song writer and singer. In other words, he had it all. He was an entertainer. Every passing icon or icon that time had passed, you wander, who will fill their shoes? Before Prince there was Chuck Berry, Little Richard, James Brown and Stevie Wonder. You wandered, who could be better or hold a candle to these icons? Prince Rogers Nelson!

I cried when I heard the news. I listened to his music “When doves cry” & “Purple Rain”. The earth lost a Prince but the Heavens gained a star.

“Darling Nikki!”

Nikki…I echo your sentiment about Prince. They go along with those I have for Leonard Nimoy/Spock and David Bowie. Coincidentally, or not, Prince’s last song at the Atlanta concert was a cover of a David Bowie’s ‘Heroes.’

Thanks for posting this great talent now can the media focus on that instead of digging up dirt let the man die in peace . And if one more person tells me that is called being in the limelight I will strangle them he always kept a low profile.

Whatever dirt they dig up doesnt matter, he was a musical genius that had a positive effect on so many lives. I loved Elvis and people used to ONLY refer to his weight or his drug problem when he died BUT none of us know what it is like to walk in THEIR shoes so we should keep or mouths shut and respect their gifts and pray for their weaknesses!

Lol I’m with you but cnn is trying desperately to come up with dirt and is so sickening

N-O!!!!! It can’t be!!!!! Prince is gone!!!!! I have been a big fan of Prince’s music ever since 1981. We have lost a musical GENIUS!!!!! Prince…don’t forget to ROCK AND ROLL in Heaven!!!!! You will be missed.

Rest In Peace.

Amen.

I was in absolute shock. The essence of funk, ceativity, energy, sexuality, dance, rhythm, musicianship…from amazing guitarist, jammin’ keyboards singer, writer…just a music master! You can’t help but feel the music inside of you when you listen to or watch him perform. Truly an amazing artist, one of my favorites. Truly mesmerizing. His music lives on…just watched an MTV Prince concert and his power knew no bounds. A great loss…

your post makes me smile

“essence”

the intrinsic nature or indispensable quality of something, especially something abstract, that determines its character.

operative word.. being … “Indispensable”

let’s put it out their… the world being… “run” corporate greed… the house and senate being roughshod and turned by “lobbyists”

Prince person shared words through music from which to expand… wield nurture and strengthen

he bonded diversity

its a real plight… to know that Obama is on his way “out”

will Hillary Rodham Clinton renew

there are remnants left to cast your lot… (vote)

His music evokes memories of college for me. Dancing to 1999 at weekend parties, buying his albums, seeing Purple Rain with a date at the theatre. Gone too soon.

Prince’s music was such an integral party of my life for most of it. Although I think When Doves Cry is one of the best rock songs ever, my personal favorite is Sometimes It Snows In April.

My musical tastes are jazz and classical, so I surprised myself by getting emotional about his death. Being in Minneapolis brings it close to home, as well. Even if I was not a great fan of his music, there is no doubt Prince was a genius who gave a lot of joy to the world. This is a real loss.

The world lost Prince, but those of us from the southside lost Roger……………. I can still remember him running and playing on 5th Ave.

Olivia, my younger sisters knew him very well and hung out with him a lot in the years before “Purple Rain.” I was always hearing about how brilliant he was and how he was going to be a big star. I scoffed. When Prince hit big, I asked if this was the guy they had been talking about. Yep, it was. He even invited them to be in one of his music videos, but both being shy, they declined. My cousin was just remembering how my sisters introduced her to Prince at Dayton’s. They were with Prince and his girlfriend of the time, and they ran into my cousin.

Dayton’s, does that bring back memories. My brother knew him very well, grew up with him, grade school, Jr. High and high school. We never called him Prince, in the neighborhood he was Roger.

We lost another great singer probably to an overdose of drugs, when will these artists so talented and all WAKE UP! Enough is enough first Michael, then Whitney and the list goes on and on ……………..

Drugs kill folks!

My favorite 1999

Prince RIP

A musical genius who will be extremely missed. His music was the soundtrack for my generation . still can’t believe it – Such a talented dude.

I expect that when the full story comes out of this incredible man’s demise, there will be much more to it than some lame drug overdose. For one thing, it is widely known that Prince neither drinks nor takes drugs recreationally. He is also a long time vegan.

One thing is for sure, the man was amazingly talented. His loss is giant.

I agree with you totally Elizabeth. I am so sick of all the mud slinging. The man was an artist. He’s gone. Can we remember his beautiful music, talent and showmanship and stop looking under the rug for mud. You already know the pap’s as well as all the magazine’s are going to try to find dirt and if they can’t they’ll make it up. So lets not buy into the rubbish. RIP dear Prince

When Doves Cry. It was the first of his I ever heard. After that it was 1999 because in 1999 I was with my future (now) husband and we did just that. 🙂

And of course I will always remember Julia Robert’s in PRETTY WOMAN singing to Prince and saying “Don’t you just love Prince?” and Richard Gere responds “More than life itself.” Great movie, great scene, great reference.

Too many entertainers lost already this year and it is only April. 🙁

Rest In Peace Prince you were an icon ledend love you and your music. You will forever missed But never ever forgotten. Love you Prince!!!

I 1st heard Prince when I was 12 y/o (My best friend’s sister had a copy of Dirty Mind) & was listening 2 him long B4 NE1 else I knew. Back then U weren’t s’posed 2 B listening 2 Prince if U were a boy (kinda like U weren’t s’posed to be watching soaps). That same friend had a copy of Horses by Patti Smith & Bowie’s Young Americans. So Bowie & Prince have always fused 2gether in my mind. Not that I didn’t love the more commercial stuff like When Doves Cry, but the stuff that really spoke to my soul was the edgier early stuff. I saved my lunch money 4 2 weeks 2 buy my 1st copy of 1999. It costs $15 & in 1982 that was a lot of $$ 2 spend on an album. My uncle threw it in the trash when he heard Let’s Pretend We’re Married & we hadn’t even gotten 2 the good part yet (“I’m not saying this just 2 B nasty…”).Actually, some of my favorites R songs he wrote 4 other people. I’m tempted 2 say it’s “Eternity,” by Chaka Kahn, but then I think of “I Feel 4 U,” & think again. A song by Prince recorded by Prince? “It’s Gonna B a Beautiful Night.”

Wow Tristan! That’s very cool, interesting. Really brings home how we’re all the same…just “jenny from the block,” or, Prince from the block. He was destined for musical genius and fame…

Rebecca, Yep. I heard about him all the time from my sisters and just scoffed, because I was a jazz and classical snob. They knew him as a friend, and as a musician destined for greatness (as they always said!). I was just in email contact with one of my sisters and she is just beside herself with grief.

Tristan, I can imagine how upset she’d be having known him. As I mentioned in a few comments above I was a huge fan; he was just so multi-talented! From his powerful ballads ala Purple Rain ((which I’m listening to now…the film’s on MTV and he’s doing that song as I type). Moments before he was gettin’ diwn and funky and so was I (dancing around the TV, lol). Dancing is a passion of mine and his music is like a magnet pulling my body in all rhythmic directions! 😉

Marla Adams, The Young and the Restless’ Dina Mergeron, Dies at 85

Marla Adams, best known for portraying matriarch, Dina Abbott Mergeron on CBS’ The Young and the Restless for 37 years, died on April 25, 2024, in Los Angeles. The news came from Y&R’s Director of Media and Talent, Matt Kane.

Throughout her veteran soap opera career, Marla appeared had appeared on Secret Storm (in her other longest running soap role as Bell Clemens from 1988-1974), The Bold and the Beautiful (ex-Beth Logan), Days of our Lives (ex-Dr. Claire McIntyre), Generations (ex- Helen Mullin), General Hospital (ex-Mildred Deal) and Capitol (ex-Myrna Clegg).

However, it was her role as Y&R’s upper crust Dina, who abandoned her children and her marriage to John Abbott (the late Jerry Douglas) that was her most memorable role. Throughout the years, Dina would have several romantic reunions with John, but in 2017, the character returned to Genoa City to reunite with her estranged family. Dina was the on-screen mother to Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).

As for Adams, she joined Y&R in 1982, but left the soap three years later her contract expired. She returned to Genoa City for stints in 1991, 1996 and 2008 before being asked by then Y&R head writer-producer Sally Sussman to return in 2017, which would begin the top-rated daytime drama telling the story of Alzheimer’s disease. Speaking with Michael Fairman TV, Marla shared on her final scenes on Y&R when Dina passed away and was reunited with John Abbott, “It was heart-wrenching for me.  In the story, Dina died when she went outside and to the front door of the Abbott home.  They did not tell me before-hand, and that’s why it was so wonderful.  I hope they came in for a closeup of that because I had no makeup on, it was beautiful, and then, Dina said, “Oh, John.”  I’ve done everything from movies, to daytime, to nighttime, to Broadway, but that was the iconic moment for me, to do this gig with wonderful, wonderful actors and friends, and to do this particular storyline.

Born in Ocean City, New Jersey, on August 28, 1938, Adams’ love for the stage was ignited after winning the Miss Ocean City and Miss Cape May pageants and finishing as a runner-up in the Miss New Jersey pageant. She also fondly remembered being the Miss Diamond Jubilee Queen during the 1954 celebration of the 75th anniversary of Ocean City’s founding.  A student at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Adams appeared on Broadway in the 1958 production of The Visit at the Morosco Theatre with Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne and starred as June in the 1961 feature film, Splendor in the Grass

Over the span of her decades long career, Adams starred in more than 40 productions including television’s: The Golden Girls, Hart to Hart, The Love Boat, The New Dick Van Dyke ShowHarry OAdam-12Starsky and HutchMarcus Welby, M.D.Barnaby Jones, and the feature film, Beneath the Leaves.

In a statement, Y&R’s current head writer and executive producer, Josh Griffith expressed, “On behalf of the entire company of The Young and the Restless, we send our deepest sympathies to Marla’s family. Arianne Zucker Reveals Her Last Days of our Lives Airdate

Arianne Zucker, who is no longer on contract with Days of our Lives, and involved in a lawsuit against the show, took to her You Tube channel and in her latest episode, and offered up what she believes is her final airdate as Nicole Walker DiMera.

The actress expressed: “I was really appreciative of the amount of support that I have had since leaving Days of our Lives.” She then added,  “My last airdate, I think, it’s July 29th and we’ll see how things go after that.”

Zucker went on to say how she has continued to receive overwhelming support since suing her former employer, Corday Productions, with the allegations that former Co-EP Albert Alarr sexually harassed her and other females at the show, and that the production company entity did not respond sufficiently and adequately.

Photo: JPI

After lodging her complaints, Zucker said her agents received two notices that Corday Productions were reducing her pay before her character was ultimately written off.  Zucker’s contract expired in January and since DAYS tapes over six months ahead it brings her final airdate, which as of now, to the end of July. Zucker is suing for harassment, discrimination, retaliation, negligent hiring and supervision, and wrongful termination among other claims.

Previously, Corday Productions issued this statement on Zucker’s claims: “The allegations in Ms. Zucker’s lawsuit are without merit. Corday Productions, offered to renew Ms. Zucker’s contract including offering her a pay increase. Rejecting Ms. Zucker’s counteroffer does not constitute retaliation. Complaints about Mr. Alarr’s on-set behavior were promptly investigated. Corday Productions fully cooperated with the impartial investigation and subsequently terminated Mr. Alarr.”

On her You Tube channel, Arianne went on to thank everyone who came out to the east coast fan event last weekend that featured several DAYS stars. She expressed, “My whole goal is to really help people stand up for themselves.” Arianne also shared she thinks it’s important for people who have gone through trauma to help each other through it.

Photo: JPI

On DAYS, Nicole is still in the dark that Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) is raising her child, Jude, with Eric (Greg Vaughan), and Eric also doesn’t know that he is raising his biological son. Will Eric and Nicole reunite and will Nicole find out what Sloan, Melinda and Leo (Greg Rikaart) have been hiding for months, before she exits the show? Stay tuned. There has been on official confirmation from DAYS that July 29th is Zucker’s final airdate.

You can check out Ari’s latest episode from her You Tube Channel below.
