Julie Chen Makes A Visit To The Young and the Restless!

Looks like Genoa City is going a bit Hollywood. According to Entertainment Weekly, Big Brother and The Talk host, Julie Chen will be seen in an upcoming episode of the CBS Daytime sudser, The Young and the Restless. Julie is taping her scenes today.
Chen, who is part of a series already on the network’s afternoon programming block, is taking a page from her ‘Talk’ co-host Sheryl Underwood and appearing on the soaps.
In story, when Hilary (Mishael Morgan) goes to Hollywood for her GC Buzz news magazine show she wants to get her ‘idol’ Julie Chen on her show. Apparently, Hilary will stop at nothing to have this happen!
Be on the lookout for Y&R characters to appear in these upcoming Hollywood-based episodes starting on Monday, May 15th with Chen making her appearance on May 17th.

Not a big fan of the whole GC BUZZ storyline but Julie Chen is awesome.
I just don’t get Y&R. This is 2017 and this story is definitely from 2001!!
If anything, Hilary should have always been arguing that the show should have been on the internet! What local tv gossip show could get enough ratings that some stupid lying gold digger would give up $250,000,000.00 divorce settlement for it?!
This is why I’m so tired of the show. No real imagination.
Victors next story is his biography written by the new town gossip, Scotty, fresh from his desert cage?! If the show truly wants to rewrite Victor’s story (we all know that so much of Victor’s “bad” will be rewritten with a focus on “Jack deserved it”.
What better way to introduce an old character that would beautifully fit into GC today then Leanna Love! She wrote the first biography which actually covered Victors early story. The rest we all know. Leanna could have come back as a book publisher who secretly buys the rights to the book from Scotty.
She would add dimension to Nikki. Add a spark to Victor. A nemesis to both Phyllis and to Gloria. Bug Ashley. It would be perfect! Then at the launch of Victors book, have it revealed that she had a love child with Victor and then introduce yet another Newman but this one as vindictive as Adam and ruthless as Adam.
Leanna could be a super successful and wealthy woman so we could see her stand ground against anyone on the show as well as give her son $$$$ to not need daddy’s!
Alas, Sally and the crew aren’t thinking big. They are just thinking about tomorrow.
I agree, GC Buzz is horrible! Get Mariah away from that whole scene! Give Sally time with the book. Scott will find himself tangled in Victor’s web and then Leanna will arrive, you’ll see!
I shall stay mum about the guest appearance from The Talk, but I AGREE with you about having Leanna Love back on the show! She was such a complex character and would b a nemesis to so many others. Love to see her written back in. Same goes for Tricia (Ryan’s ex.) Would love to see her waltz back into town. Time for someone to give Victoria some maddening grief. I know there’s been a slew of crazies, but, heck, why not bring them all back at once? There’s a thought.
I agree with all of you. Yes, Timm, Mariah is too cool for the GC Buzz. The Mariah I know and love would want nothing to do with that show.

I guess when your spouse is a high ranking person @ CBS you can get on any show on the network. Her voice is so monotone that it sounds like chalk on a blackboard.
The Talk regularly have CBS Daytime stars as guests so it makes sense for Y&R to do the same to her and any of her co-hosts.
NIK…the second sentence in your post is so funny…LOL!!!!! AND SO TRUE!!!!! Oh…and BTW, to me, that Julie Chen woman is not as innocent-looking as she looks. Bottom Line Here: I wouldn’t trust her (or whatever). Nope.

Ugh. I’ve never cared for Chen. I’ve spent over five years avoiding “The Talk” on principle: I won’t watch the show that is “partially” responsible for the demise of “As the World Turns”. (Partial as I want to make sure that ATWT producer Chris Goutman and head writer Jean Passanante get their equitable share of the credit for pushing ATWT into a grave). Now, Chen is surfacing on “The Young and the Restless”??? I may skip those episodes.
Oh gawd, another awful stunt casting. Does Julie just whisper in hubby’s ear that she wants a show (The Talk) or guest star on a show (Y&R) and he grants her wish? Must be nice!
Hey, I simply love Cheryl Underwood!! She is so real in all issues. She gave $Bill a wonderful way to go. She is quick witted and so funny……again, I would miss her on the Talk and would like to see her more often on Bold and Beautiful.
I love the talk, all the ladies & will love to see them all on Y&R OR B&B. Love both shows. .. you ladies get on what ever you can it’s magnificent to see you on daytime.

This is shameless cross promotion during sweeps month, which CBS does all the time. Y&R audiences will hear all about the Talk, and on the Talk they will promote Chen’s appearance on Y&R– win, win in CBS ‘s eye (s) — I can’t imagine her appearance will be for more than a scene or two at most, so it is what it is– story wise it makes more sense than some stunt casting-in the past- I can totally understand why Hilary would like to meet Julie Chen– they have a lot in common– both got their talk show gig from super rich husbands – ouch–

Chen on Y R. Would just make SURE I never watch. Julie chen and her sap husband, they made sure I wouldn’t watch the Talk no matter what. Never have never will. They out this garbage on in place of my favorite show ever. As the world turns. See her face the remote comes out and that’s the end of it. No soaps on that channel even when they have TR on.

Lane Davies Joins the Cast of General Hospital Setting up a ‘Santa Barbara’ Reunion with Nancy Lee Grahn
Some very intriguing casting news out of General Hospital. The ABC daytime drama has cast former Santa Barbara favorite, Lane Davies (ex-Mason Capwell), in the role of Fergus Byrne, an attorney who crosses paths with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).
According to TV Insider, Davies will make debut the week of May 22nd. As soap fans know, together with the aforementioned Grahn, they created the Santa Barbara supercouple of Mason and Julia Wainwright. Davies portrayed Mason Capwell family from 1984 through 1989.
Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time in Port Charles for Lane. From 2002-2004 he played Dr. Cameron Lewis and also shared on-screen story with Grahn. At that time Davies, played Xander Smith’s father.

GH fans are wondering about the last name of Davies new character, “Bryne”. If you recall, Alexis got herself involved with therapist Dr. Neil Bryne, who died when Harmony broke into Alexis‘ house and killed Neil by injecting him with opioids.

Taking to her Instagram, Grahn shared her excitement at the upcoming on-screen reunion with Davies, “It never gets old. We do 😂…. but it doesn’t 😍. Lookin’ forward to another romp.”

One Life to Live Alum Jonathan Groff Receives 2024 Tony Award Nomination for Leading Actor in a Musical
Nominations were announced on Tuesday for the 77th annual Tony Awards by previous winners, Renée Elise Goldsberry (ex-Evangeline Williamson, One Life to Live) and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
When the dust settled it was Stereophonic (which is loosely based on the story of Fleetwood Mac) and Hell’s Kitchen (Alicia Keys musical) that both scored 13 Tony nominations to lead the pack.
However, Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along made quite the comeback and is nominated for several awards including Best Revival of a Musical and for one of its stars, Jonathan Groff (ex-Henry Mackler, One Life to Live).

Groff is nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical and will go up against Brody Grant — The Outsiders, Dorian Harewood —The Notebook, Brian d’Arcy James — Days of Wine and Roses and Eddie Redmayne — Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club.
In addition to his previous Tony nod for his role in Hamilton, Jonathan was nominated for a Lead Actor in a Musical for his role as Melchior Gabor in the original production of Spring Awakening.
Jonathan co-stars in the revival of Merrily We Roll Along “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe and previous Tony winner Lindsay Mendez.
Back in 2019, Groff visited Live with Kelly and Ryan and discussed his debut on One Life while working at night on Broadway in Spring Awakening.
He shared on his experience on the soap, “I do remember my first day because I was doing Spring Awakening on Broadway at the time, and One Life to Live was my first time ever being on TV. So I got this offer, and I was like, ‘Yes, I would love to be in a soap opera,’ and we finished Spring Awakening at 11:00 p.m. and I woke up the next morning at 4:0 a.m. to walk uptown to go to do One Life to Live, and I called my agent and left a message, and I said ‘You have to get me out of this, I can’t wake up at 4 o’clock in the morning!'” You can watch the clip below.
The 77th annual Tony Awards will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on Sunday, June 16, with Tony and Oscar winner Ariana DeBose returning to host for the third time.

Days Of Our Lives
Peacock Raising Subscription Prices $2 Dollars a Month This Summer; Includes Days of our Lives
As the Paris Summer Olympics are a few months away, the Peacock streaming service has revealed its plan for a two dollar summer price hike on its subscription plans, beginning in July for its content which will include Days of our Lives.
According to Deadline, in July, look for the monthly price for Peacock Premium to increase to $7.99. Premium Plus, which offers limited advertising, download capability and live local programming, will now be $13.99, while Annual plans will go up to $79.99 for Premium and $139.99 for Premium Plus.
This price hike will effect new customers starting on July 18th, while existing subscribers will notice the price change on their next billing date on or before August 17th.

This marks the second price change in two years for the streaming service, the previous one being in 2023, which was the first since the service launched back in 2020. The Summer Olympics in Paris which will be on NBC and Peacock run from July 26 to August 11.
The bright spot for Days of our Lives fans, is that unlike if the show was still on network television and NBC, the show would be preempted for two weeks, but with it being on Peacock it will continue with all-new episodes without interruption.

At the recent Days of our Lives 15K episode celebration, Michael Sluchan the EVP, Current Scripted Programming & Limited Series for NBC/Peacock shared that the soap opera is doing extremely well for the streaming service, and they were very happy with its performance.
