‘AEW WORLDS END’ 2025: MFJ Wins World Championship, Jon Moxley Takes Continental Classic
AEW closed out strong in 2025, with giving perhaps its two biggest stars massive victories and redemption at its Worlds End pay-per-view emanating from the NOW Arena in Chicago on Saturday night.
The overall card showcased what All Elite Wrestling is really about – the greatest wrestling in the world – and that it did indeed with three Continental Classic matches; the semifinals and the finals. However, before we get to that, in the main event, AEW did the right thing and strapped the World Championship on the returning MFJ.
In the fatal four-way at the end of the night, MJF defeated the top babyfaces in the company and former champs, Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland, while getting retribution on Samoa Joe by pinning him exactly two years after Joe beat him for the AEW Men’s World championship at Worlds End back in 2023.

MJF’s BETTER THAN YOU AND YOU KNOW IT
It should be noted that MJF is red-hot right now, and he and AEW are playing him neither heel nor face as being evident from how his dramatic and splashy entrance (the best on the card), had him smack dab in the middle of the entrance ramp. Of note: At just under 30-years old, MJF becomes a two-time world champion at his age, where only a few other men the likes of The Rock, John Cena and Randy Orton have been able to do in their legendary careers.
GOING CONTINENTAL
Now back to the Continental Classic: In the match of the night, The Death Riders, Jon Moxley faced The Don Callis family’s Kyle Fletcher. It was an extraordinary match with the crowd in attenan knowing who would win with multiple reversals, chokeholds, kicks outs galore.
In the end Moxley won it. Setting him up to meet the current ‘Classic’ titleholder, Kazuchika Okada who used Callis’ patented actual screwdriver to defeat stablemate, Konosuke Takeshita. For sure, Takeshita will soon be exiting the “family” either by choice or they are going to be beat him up and throw him out, setting up a Takeshita face turn. It should be noted that apparently Okada was supposed to leave the screwdriver behind in the turnbuckle pads to help Kyle Fletcher in his match vs Mox, but it wasn’t there when he needed it! Fletcher will also have an axe to grind with Okada.

In the “Classic” finals, Moxley defeated Okada. But it was what happened after the match that was most stunning. Moxley, who has been the most feared and hated heel in AEW along with his Death Riders cronies, gets up to celebrate his victory and launches into a full babyface promo complimenting all the stars who participated in the Continental Classic, and how great AEW is, as the rest of the Death Riders just looked on. Clearly, Mox is going full babyface and the Death Riders are going to turn on him ASAP.
GIRLS AND BOYS
The most-entertaining match of the night was the eight-person inter-gender tag affair featuring Toni Storm & The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe, Roderick Strong) against The Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia, Wheeler Yuta, & Marina Shafir). Unlike the WWE, where men never lay a hand or execute a move on their female counterparts, in this battle, Storm was hitting plenty of moves on the guys and they on her and the same for Shafir. In the end, Toni and the Conglomeration s the win.
In other notable wins, in the women’s tag team match up, Willow Nightingale pinned Mercedes Mone and she along with Harley Cameron retained the titles over the CEO and Athena. Afterwards, Mone went into her dressing room and pitched a fit, screaming while she dismembered the place. Next week, Mone goes up against Nightingale with Willow’s shot to win back her TBS Championship at New Year’s Smash on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite. Mone has been on an unprecedented losing streak of late. Will 2026 be the year she loses all of her titles and falls from glory? Stay tuned.

AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander retained her title against Jamie Hayter, and so too did FTR who walked away with the AEW men’s tag team belts once again after besting the Bang Bang Gang team of Juice Robinson and Austin Gunn.
Later, during the AEW Worlds End Post-Show Media Scrum on You Tube, the most entertaining moment came from Harley Cameron who has a new theme song she has written about she and her tag partner, Nightingale who are known as the “Babes of Wrath.” We enjoyed, but it didn’t look like anyone else did who were seated around Cameron, which was kind of an uncomfortable optic.
AEW WORLDS END OVERALL GRADE: B+
Now below, check out some of the key highlights featuring MJF and Jon Moxley’s victories in the final two bouts on the card during AEW Worlds End.
Then let us know, are you glad tha. MJF is back at the World Champ, or would have preferred Page, Strickland or Joe? Do you think the Death Riders will turn on Jon Moxley in short order? Weigh-in via the comment section.

AEW Honors Ted Turner with 10-Bell Salute

Ted Turner, the billionaire businessman, who turned a struggling Atlanta news station into a media empire with first 24-hour news channel, CNN, died on Wednesday, May 6 at the age of 87. Turner died reportedly ‘surrounded by his family.”
However, Turner’s impact is felt far and wide with how he revolutionized cable television as we know. One such way is how Turner believed in professional wrestling, when other network executives didn’t. Turner, who helped launch TNT and TBS, and purchased World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in the late 1980s and gave it a primetime slot.
Through his leadership, the landscape of pro wrestling was changed forever, leading to the infamous Monday Night Wars” between the WWE and WCW with their flagship shows, Monday Night Nitro vs. Monday Night Raw. Since 2019, wrestling has been back on TNT and TBS in a big way with AEW’s Dynamite and AEW Collision.

TED TURNER BELIEVED IN PRO WRESTLING
Last night, All Elite Wrestling opened its broadcast with a tribute to Turner, which led to the 10-bell salute, which is given to someone from the world of professional wrestling had passed on.
AEW commentator Tony Schiavone said at the top of the special three-hour Dynamite and Collision episode. “Ted Turner believed in pro wrestling. He believed in you, the fans, and he believed that pro wrestling belonged on national television.” Schiavone who was also a commentator for WCW noted that it was because of Turner’s vision that pro wrestling found a home on TBS and later in the 90s with TNT, sharing, “Generations of fans around the world knew that we were destination viewing.”
Schavione recalled, “I knew that firsthand. I began in the studio in TBS in 1985. Decades later, because of the foundation that was laid by Ted Turner, we still survive today through the leadership of Tony Khan in AEW, through the leadership of Warner Discovery, wrestling still survives.”
STING RECALLS TED TURNER STANDING UP TO EXECS
Suddenly, in a special appearance, pro wrestling and WCW legend, Sting, came to the ring and addressed the crowd in Charleston, South Carolina and at home. “Can you imagine having an all-in billionaire who absolutely loved pro wrestling? I can’t believe what (Turner) did for us. He was completely committed to us, devoted to us in every conceivable way.”
Sting went on to tell the story of how Turner stood up to the executives at CNN Towers. ‘We don’t know about this whole pro wrestling thing. I think it’s time to cut them off because we’re always in the red, Ted would share. “I’d look at all of them and say, you wrestlers just keep on doing what you’re doing because I got some deep pockets.’”
“There wouldn’t be a TNT title, there wouldn’t be a Sting. There wouldn’t be a Darby Allin. There wouldn’t be a Tony Schiavone here tonight. You wouldn’t be here tonight. So, thank you, once again, Ted,” Sting said as he concluded his comments. Moments later came the emotional ten-bell salute (you can watch it below)
Earlier on Wednesday, AEW president Tony Khan shared his own tribute on X, expressing, “It’s a very sad day in the world of television and certainly in the world of professional wrestling. The man who gave us this platform, the man who created TBS and TNT and so many great television channels and so many great concepts in the field of television, the late great Mr. Ted Turner has passed.”
So, what are your thoughts on the passing of Ted Turner? How without the billionaire’s love of pro wrestling, WCW and now AEW would not have had the platform they have to bring fans around the world the sports entertainment shows that they love? Comment below.
