After meeting with Gus, Vivian tells Victor that Carly delivered a baby, years ago, in a Swiss hospital. They contemplate who the father is, and where the child is now. Hope tells Justin she’s ready to move on from Bo. She needs Justin to help her do it. Justin misunderstands and believes she shares his same feelings. Hope, however, asks him to be her lawyer, and serve Bo with separation papers. Justin refuses, but Hope pushes him to tell her why. Justin finally admits that it’s because he’s in love with her. Stunned, Hope doesn’t know how to respond, and Justin tells her that if she’s still in love with Bo, she must fight for her marriage. Bo confronts Carly about avoiding him. She’s angry with herself because she professed her love to Bo knowing that he doesn’t feel the same. Suddenly, Bo receives a call and becomes alarmed. He reveals to Carly that one of his sources found out someone was asking questions at the Swiss hospital where she had her daughter. Panicked, Carly is sure it’s Vivian, and becomes worried that she will try to finish what Lawrence sought out to do – kill her daughter. Caught up in the emotion, Bo and Carly kiss just as Hope arrives to witness. Philip breaks the news to Stephanie that he’s marrying Melanie. Thinking about her relationship with Nathan, Stephanie couldn’t be happier for him. Meanwhile, Kate and Vivian descend on Melanie to make extravagant wedding plans, but it doesn’t go well. Gus calls Vivian with important news about Carly. Vivian quickly leaves. Nathan shows up at Maggie’s house, and Kate sees the sparks between him Melanie and later tells Philip, who accuses her of trying to stir up trouble. At the same time, Nathan asks Melanie if she’s rushing into things with Philip and a torn Melanie snaps at him to mind his own business. Sami discovers the note sent by the kidnapper. After yelling at EJ for not telling her sooner, Sami wants to tell Rafe. EJ argues that no one is supposed to know, especially not Rafe. At the same time, Rafe tells Arianna that he’s going crazy trying to find leads on Sydney’s whereabouts. He goes to the DiMera mansion to find EJ and Sami arguing. Sami almost tells him about the ransom note, but Rafe receives a call about a lead. While Rafe takes the call in another room, EJ advises Sami not to tell Rafe, but she can do what she wants. Chloe confronts Brady about hearing from Daniel that Arianna is a drug dealer. Brady convinces her that what Daniel heard about Arianna is only a false rumor, Brady confronts Victor for spreading Arianna’s secret. Victor rebuffs Brady and predicts a hard end for Arianna. Troy meets with EJ and realizes that his phone is gone, just as Arianna finds it. Hope sees Bo and Carly kissing. Deeply hurt, she decides to interrupt them and confronts Bo. Bo and Hope have it out about their marriage and Carly. Hope makes it clear that she thinks that Bo, Carly and her secret can go to hell. Hope returns to the Kiriakis mansion and overhears Vivian talking to Victor about Carly’s secret while a shaken Carly returns to Bo.
Just after Melanie rebuked Nathan for suggesting that things are going too fast with her and Philip, Philip comes upon their tense interaction. Nathan leaves and Philip follows him to makes things clear. Nathan is strong, but Philip’s words seem to truly end thoughts of Nathan and Melanie being together. Meanwhile, Melanie insists to Maggie that she knows what she is doing regarding being with Philip, but has a hard time convincing even herself. Later, Lexie urges Nathan to make his feelings clear to Melanie while Philip proposes to Melanie that they elope. Troy meets with Arianna and is pleasant with her, but, he privately plans on taking her out. Carly can’t deal with her feelings for him. Given that Vivian might have found out she has a secret child, Carly decides that she will stay away from her daughter until Vivian is neutralized. Bo reminds Carly she’s not alone. Hope overhears Vivian tell Victor that she knows part of Carly’s secret. Justin’s arrival prevents Vivian from saying more. Vivian invites Hope and Justin to join her and Victor on their trip to celebrate New Year’s Eve, but both turn her down. Alone, Hope tells Justin about what she overheard and about seeing Bo and Carly kissing. However, she decides to protect Carly from Vivian. Justin gives her an idea on how to do that. In the meantime, Vivian tells Victor that once she discovers the identity of Carly’s child, she plans to take that child away from Carly… permanently. Sami is about to tell Rafe about the note from Sydney’s kidnapper when he receives a call from his FBI contact. This leads him to explain to her what the Feds would do if they received a ransom note. Sami believes that FBI involvement would not necessarily protect Sydney and she decides not to tell him about the note. She explains this to EJ, who’s relieved, although Sami herself is still torn about her decision. Meanwhile, Anna is keeping tabs on Sami, and makes sure that neither the Feds, nor the cops, will be called.
Hope and Justin implement their plan to search Vivian’s room while she and Victor are away in Chicago. Meanwhile, Carly briefly tells Daniel the truth about Lawrence. While Daniel tries to get the whole story out of her at the Java Café, Vivian and Victor stop by. After Carly leaves, Daniel tells Victor to lay off of her. After they exit, Vivian and Victor go over her plan to find Carly’s illegitimate child. Victor, feeling bad about his encounter with Daniel, decides to call off the trip to Chicago. At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope and Justin find a Chinese puzzle box in which Vivian hid the incriminating papers. They try to open it, but they hear Vivian and Victor’s voices at the door. After they enter, Vivian and Victor are shocked to find Hope and Justin locked in a passionate kiss. Philip convinces Melanie to elope with him to Las Vegas – that night! In the meantime, Daniel encourages Nathan to tell Melanie how he feels. Nathan decides to go to Melanie, but runs into Philip on his way. He learns that Philip and Melanie are eloping to Vegas. Nathan says he won’t allow Melanie to marry Philip and they get into a fist fight. At the same time, Stephanie drops something off to Maggie and learns about the elopement from Melanie. Stephanie says she’s happy for Melanie. She warns Melanie better be faithful to Philip and not come in between her and Nathan. Melanie and Stephanie then wonder where the guys are and get a call. Philip and Nathan are locked in a holding cell…together. Daniel and Chloe share a romantic New Year’s Eve.

DAYS Alum Jensen Ackles on ‘The Winchesters’ Inability to Find New Home is a Case of ‘Unfortunate Timing’
June 3, 2023
Former Supernatural, Big Sky, and Days of our Lives star, Jensen Ackles (ex-Dean, ex-Beau, ex-Eric) took to social media on Saturday when the news broke that his series, The Winchesters, in which he executive produced, has run out of options to find a new home.
The show which aired for one season on the CW was a prequel to Supernatural. In an update, The Winchesters producing studio, Warner Bros, attempted to find another network or streaming partner to move forward with the series after its cancellation.
Now comes word that all avenues have been exhausted. All this, even though a #SavetheWinchesters campaign led by Ackles, himself, was attempted to bring some attention and heat on the show.

Jensen expressed his ‘thanks’ to the viewers and cited the current WGA writer’s strike as one of the main contributing factors to making the search for a new home for the series extremely daunting.
Ackles shared: “To all of you who watched, followed, and supported this story, THANK YOU. And to all those who brought this show to life…I couldn’t be more proud of what we all did together. But as they say…timing is everything. With a massive Network shift coupled with an industry strike…welp…that’s some unfortunate timing. Sleep well dear @WinchestersOnCW…until we meet again. Somewhere down the road.”

Pride Month Celebrating LGBTQ+ Soap Supercouples: Nuke, Kish, Otalia & WilSon … Which Stands the Test of Time?
June 2, 2023
June is Pride Month, the time when across the U.S and the world there are celebrations and commemorations to recognize all who identify as LGBTQ and their allies.
Daytime soap operas have had a rocky road when it comes to the representation of same-sex couples. The soaps have been at one time leaders in portraying key social issues of our time, as well as treading lightly on other subjects, as to its concerns to ‘turn-off’ its core audiences.
When you look back at the groundbreaking first same-sex weddings, and the first gay kiss, the soaps have come far in some ways in their representations of gay characters, but there is always work to be done to serve and to shed light on the under-represented.
As we reflect back to the then and the now, which LGBTQ soap supercouple remains your favorite and had made a lasting impact? Let’s take a look at four duos who captivated many viewers.
Nuke – Luke Snyder and Noah Mayer – As the World Turns
Van Hansis (Luke) and Jake Silbermann (Noah) were a key part of the evolution of, and representation of LGBTQ character on the soaps. ‘Nuke’, as they were known as, became the first gay male soap couple to share an on-screen kiss back in 2007. ATWT also became known as the first soap to depict a fully realized romantic male couple as an integral part of the show. There was plenty of backlash along the way for the long-awaited kiss to happen, but when it did, the show moved forward to tell their love story.
When Crystal Chappell (Olivia) and Jessica Leccia (Natalia) began to play the love story of Otalia, they had to show their affection by a kiss on the head, or holding hands. It took quite some time for GL to move forward to have two women, two moms, no less, share a lip lock. The complicated love story featured Natalia being conflicted to face her true romantic feelings for Olivia, because of her value system and religions upbringing, and that made this all the more riveting and frustrating at the same time. In the end, the rabid fan base for this duo was so great that Chappell wound up creating her own series, Venice, to honor and serve them, remaining one of the LGBTQ communities greatest allies.
Kish – Kyle Lewis and Oliver Fish – One Life to Live
In 2009, One Life to Live’s Kyle Lewis (Brett Claywell) was an out lab tech in Llanview, who back in college had a relationship with Officer Oliver Fish (Scott Evans). It imploded when Oliver denied he was gay. For years, Oliver remained in the closet, before finally coming out to himself and Kyle.
Kish had been a big success with the media and One Life’s gay audience. LGBTQ-advocacy groups honored the couple and the story. However, Kish was cut short when the network felt that the data showed that the storyline was not resonating with the show’s core audience.
WilSon – Will Horton and Sonny Kiriakis – Days of our Lives
Days of our Lives delivered daytime’s first-ever gay male wedding in 2014, between Will (then played by Guy Wilson) and Sonny (then played by Freddie Smith).
In an interview with EW, Days of our Lives executive producer, Ken Corday shared on the union, “Will and Sonny have been together for a while and it was the natural progression of their love story. We didn’t feel like there was anything we could or couldn’t do, we treated them like any other couple on the canvas and continued to grow their romance as such.”
In addition, the coming out story of Will Horton was critically praised and noteworthy for the performances of Chandler Massey, who won three Daytime Emmys for his work in the Outstanding Younger Actor category 2012, 2013 and 2014. Freddie Smith also won in the same category in 2015. Will has been played over the years by Chandler Massey and Guy Wilson, while Sonny has been portrayed by Freddie Smith and Zach Tinker.
There have been several other key LGBTQ couples throughout the course of daytime history including All My Children’s Bianca (Eden Riegel) and Reese (Tamara Braun). These two characters were involved in the first same-sex lesbian wedding on daytime. Problem was … Reese kissed Zach (Thorsten Kaye) before the wedding, making this infuriating for viewers at home.
Other notable LGBTQ couples through the years have included: Bianca and Maggie on All My Children, Mariah and Tessa of The Young and the Restless played bv Camryn Grimes and Cait Fairbanks, Maya and Rick on The Bold and the Beautiful, Lucas and Brad on General Hospital and others.
Which couple do you think has had the most lasting impact on the history of LGBTQ representation on daytime soap operas? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
