Looks like another sexy heartthrob is on his way to Port Charles in 2015 with casting news today out of ABC’s General Hospital.

The soap opera is looking to cast the contract role of a “Caucasian, late 20’s. Handsome, dynamic, sexy.  A charming bad boy who gets in and out of trouble.”

So, who could be the next bad boy on GH for someone on the canvas to be smitten with? Who could this guy be related to on the current canvas when he arrives on the scene?

Put on your casting director hats again today, and let us know is there anyone who had a role on the soaps in the past, you think could fit the bill? Or, is there someone from primetime TV that you would love to see nab a part on GH?  Or, perhaps an intriguing newcomer you know about it?  Share your casting considerations in the comment section below!

What was the point o “trimming” the cast recently, if all they’re going to do is stuff it back up again? I don’t even watch anymore, and even I think it’s criminal casting John York to the side. How insulting to this longtime, loyal actor. Guza/Phelps never downgraded him, but oh look! Ron and rank have no problem with it.

But then again, “Caucasian, late 20′s. Handsome, dynamic, sexy”? I guess those characteristic are too hard to find on soaps these days. What out of the box kind of thinking will they come up with next????

I do not see the cast being ”trimmed”
I do see some cast members doing other projects and all are still of the GH cast..
GH has short stint/guest appearances that can be in story for any length of time, it varies..
the think vets like to come in and out but not stay..
I’d bet RC and FV would give much to have the character Johnny Z/Brandon back, yahbetcha ..!
It is not always what RC or anyone else would like it is if the person/actor wants to be back and how much time he/she wants to be back..

I see RC, FV and team trying to build up the Q’s..
I would guess the young guy might me a Q ..
maybe Ned’s love child or some such thing..

It was dubbed by media outlets that the 3 recent downgrades were for that purpose. Most began their coverage saying that it was “a long time coming” because of how much bigger and bigger the cast was becoming. But to be fair, I didn’t see it as a trim either. 3 in a lineup of 40+ is not a trim…it’s one of those haircuts you have to flaunt in people’s faces before they say, “Hey, is that a new shirt?”.

However, I don’t think you can make blanket statements like ones you make. I think you are projecting your own feelings quite a bit.

su0000, I like your idea of Ned having a child out there to shake things up. Why not just recast Dylan?

York’s contract didn’t guarantee him many episodes anyway. My guess is he will be seen just as with the same frequency now that he is recurring. The upside for the actor is he can audition for different roles without being tied down. If recurring is good enough for Felicia, Lucy, and Duke I’m sure it will work just fine for Mac.

I’d rather see more of Mac, Lucy, Duke and Scott. They ARE GH…or at least part of the original crew. While I welcome new characters…I have no problem with that…I don’t like to see familiar, loved characters pushed to the side to make way for them.

As for a hot, young actor? Love John-Paul Lavoisier, Mark Lawson or David Gregory…all from OLTL and all good actors/stunning guys. Not sure if Ron and Frank would use any of them for fear of the backlash by anti OTL people who complain GH is being overrun by OLTL people. Even with that, hope one of them is in the running…

How about the guy who used to play Rex on OLTL. I think his name is John Paul Lavosier?

That was my suggestion, too! I wonder if the character is Tracy’s son Dillon? If so, Lavoisier would be perfect to trade barbs with La Quartermaine.

how about a family member of Olivias frôm bensonhurst… A wise guy Italian looker.

Yeah, Nancy, great suggestion. How about Marco Dapper? Gorgeous, sexy and a baaaad boy !!!!!

CeeCee…HELL YEAH!!!!! Marco Dapper is a P-E-R-F-E-C-T CHOICE!!!!! GH can scoop him up LIKE THAT!!!!!

Happy Holidays, CeeCee. Peace.

It would be nice if she finally had more family or a boyfriend

…and why does GH need this character??? Lenny Platt ex Nate OLTL if this newbie has to be!!! and let him run off with Kiki two days later…lol

LOL

YES !

“… let him run off with Kiki two days later ”

Chad Duell’ Michael… who changed his name to Quartermaine… does not make him a main draw OR pull. still snore

Carly : hope she rots waiting for Sonny

oye! for the great tenure of RC/FV… doing away with Connie was the biggest

attempting to write “any thing” for Sonny, Carly, Michael, and Kiki is too dull

now…. : if GH really needs a “Q” … bring back Robin Christopher as Skye with her real daughter to play “lyla Rae” it was ?

just buku bucks to further stronghold the REAL women

Carly, Ava, and Skye

rehire JOhnny Z full time… and you’d have all the menfolk needed

could this “thread” be a hint that this guy is in his 30’s and is really Michael Muhney

dang it DAYS : hire , hire, HIRE him…. pronto…. he has DiMera written all over him

“OH i’m so dim”

that should read : “The Women”

Ava, NINA, and Skye

I want Colin Egglesfield or Steve Burton.

Steve Burton won’t come back to GH, not when Y&R gives him exactly what he wants.

Nicholas…dude…Colin Egglesfield=YES!!!!! But…Steve Burton=NO WAY JOSE!!!!! Let SB stay at Y&R.

I’m with you, jaybird. Steve Burton? No, thanks. Egglesfield? Sure, I like him, but this role has Marco written all over it.

Steve just resigned for another year at Y&R.

Steve B signed another year with Y&R but he was a yawn anyway as Jason was written…he is still a BIGGER yawn as Dylan.

Another character? Oh brother!

Another character who will probably drool all over Kiki. Blech.

If anything, that age group needs some girls. Why is Kiki the only leading lady in that age group?

I think Morgan needs a girl for sure. Rosalie isn’t even in their age group and looks too old for Morgan and Michael – plus she already gave Michael the goods so she’s pretty useless now.

If sleeping with a brother or sister of a character makes one useless, there are a whole lot of “useless” characters active in soaps.Lol

I know, C. Kiki is going to get a big head. I mean that figuratively, of course, as she is already there literally.

Can we not get Steve Webber, Jax, or Ethan back. Maybe this IS an Ethan recast!! I think I say this every time there is a casting call but can we please 1) have the character tied to on canvas, legacy families (like the Q’s or perhaps a long lost son of Mac’s, or a Hardy character) and 2) can we get someone we miss seeing from another soap, especially a cancelled one.

Having said that, there are not a lot of past soap-ers in that age range compared to all those in the late 30s, 40s & up. Here are the ones in that age range that come to mind:
1. EX chad form Days (can’t remember his name)
2. David Gregory from OLTL (or one of the other Ford brothers)
3. Blake Hood (ex Kyle on YR that should not have been recast to begin with)
4. Eric Nelson from the AMC reboot– while he is the right age range he might be too young looking

What ex AMC, OLTL, ATWT, GL guy in that age range am I missing?

I totally agree about Blake Hood! He was really good as Kyle, he looked exactly like a younger version of Jack – even his personality was similar. Hartley Sawyer on the other hand, was terrible in the role. Seriously, one of the worst recasts in recent Y&R history. I didn’t see the point of the recast, especially for someone who didn’t fit the part at all.

I like the idea of Casey Diedrick! He’s very talented and would fit the bad boy role well.

Blake and Peter were great. Hartley was horrible!

LUCKY or ETHAN please!

How about both? It’d be great for Nathan Parsons and Jonathan Jackson to come back, but it seems like they’re both happy in primetime. I still really think Lucky, Ethan and especially LAURA should have been here for the whole Fluke story.

Thats a huge hole. Luke/Fluke and no Genie or Julie. Jonathan would probably only return if they killed off Luke and Anthony retires because the two actors were close and have a great deal of respect for each other.

This sounds like Dillon Quatermaine, Tracy’s son and Ned’s brother. FV and RC love casting young, hot men. Geez, guess Ryan Paevey is old news LOL. But love beefing up the Quartermaines!!!!!

I really hope it’s Dillon too. If it is, I suggest David Tom for the role. If the casting call is for a different role, then maybe Casey Deidrick?

Yeah I like David Thom. He is a good actor. He didnt cut it this time as Billy because the character grew too much.

David Tom would be an AWESOME Dillon Quartermaine!!!

Thats who i said would make a great Dillon when David Tom was foolishly let go from y&r…glad others think he’d be perfect for the role!!!

David Tom is awesome. He would be great as DQ or any role.

If they are to make something out of Rosalie, then maybe it is a relative of hers. I mean they have to reveal this big, bad secret of hers one of these days and I am sure there is someone we have not been introduced to yet that is involved.

Josh Duhon! Bring him back as Logan’s twin. Scotty needs more kids!

Scotty isnt on enough for him to have another kid on screen. Him and Franco dont even do enough together and those two are great together!

He was SO hot. Such a waste when they killed him!

I really hope this casting call is for a recast of Ethan, Lucky or Dillon and not a brand new role, unless they plan to tie him to the canvas somehow. And to be honest, if they are planning to add another 20-something character to the canvas, it should be a recast Serena Baldwin. Scott is in town and she’s a legacy character that could potentially shake it up with Micheal, Morgan and Kiki. Seeing as Kiki is the only girl in town in that age range, the last thing we need is a new character drooling all over her.

As for actors, I really like the idea of Casey Deidrick (ex-Chad, DAYS) or John-Paul Lavoisier (ex-Rex, OLTL). They could definitely pull off the bad boy type. I just don’t see what necessity this character will have when there are so many characters without much to do these days, and actors that are underused. Plus, there are many characters that are expendable and need to go before new characters are brought on, like Sabrina, Britt, Jordan, Shawn, etc. I just hope they know what they are doing and this character doesn’t become an aimless snooze fest with no purpose.

Serena would be good if Scotty isnt on the back burner.

Yeah, why don’t they cast Serena Baldwin?? She’s long over due to be in PC! Kim Matula would be perfect to play Serena!!!!

Good idea

i like the way there building up the Q’s and Ned being the head of the Family 🙂 Maybe Brenda’s son coming to town ?

Please hire the FABULOUSLY TALENTED MICHAEL MUHNEY for any role new or old!

Amen Cheri!

Yes, Michael Muhney sure gets my vote. The only problem is he is busy making movies. He will start filming his 4th movie in January. I sure do miss his gorgeous face on my TV Screen. But his Christmas movie is coming up Dec. 20th. Cannot wait to see it. He was the most talented daytime t.v. actor in forever. Love his talent. I am a Muhney fan for life.

Eric Nelsen, Casey Deidrick, Brandon Buddy, Blair Redford, James Stephenson from Passions

I hope this is a Dylan Q recast, but I think Dylan is possibly a few years older. If it is DQ, I always thought JPL or Josh Kelly would be great in the role. If not, I could see Casey Diederick in the role described.

When Scott Clifton and JPL were both on OLTL you could hardly tell them apart. lol.

No new characters are needed, there are so many characters on GH that are not used enough. But if I had to choose it would be Dillon!! We need our Quartermaines back on the show 🙂

Let’s just bring Michael Muhney on and get it over with. His name comes up a lot.
As far as SB goes, leave him where he is. He seems to be happy there.
I don’t miss him at all. Just my opinion.

I am at such a loss as to what Michael did that was so fascinating. He played every scene with the same.expreasion…whether he was sayig Hi or I Am Going To Kill You. I much prefer Justin H as Adam.

No, you have MM mixed up with Steve Burton. Steve is the one who plays every scene with the same expression. Michael Muhney was the best thing that ever happened to Y&R. Jill Farren Phelps destroyed Y&R and Bill Bells legacy.

Um…no…I said MM and I meant MM.

Casting is for Celia and Jimmy Lee Holt’s lovechild.

That would be beyond awesome. But that would mean RC would have to dig into the glorious past of the show and the Quartermaine’s, and introduce a character with believable family ties that viewers could immediately root for and love. And well..he doesn’t do that.

I loved John-Paul Lavoisier as Rex and he would be good but if it is Dillon why don’t they try for Scott Clifton. Hope his love interest on Bold and Beautiful, Kimberly Matula is leaving B&B. Maybe Scott would be interested in coming back as Dillon.

When will Michael Muhney appear as A.J.? He didn’t die but was given a drug (like Juliet) to make him appear dead. Then he was smuggled to a long term care facility to recoup. Monica was behind it in order to protect him from Sonny.

Chandler Massey or Billy Unger

Oh gee…another bad boy. Like the show doesnt have enough of those already??

Except for the age specification, that description fits Justin Hartley to a “t!” How I wish GH had landed him instead of Y&R! He would have made an excellent recast AJ or some other aristohunk!!!!

New in acting kyndal Hairston would be excellent in the role. He is his 20’s and yes very handsome and smart. He is a graduate from Old Dominion University. He lives in Hollywood. His number is

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

on

By

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
