GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason and Anna Kiss; Lucky Finds Out Lulu Needs Him STAT

On the Thursday, September 26th episode of General Hospital, fearing their lives are over, and held captive in a cell thanks to Sidwell (Carlo Rota), Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) share a kiss at the end of the episode.

Anna is beside herself as she cannot get Jason free of his handcuffs. After they share a desperate embrace, Jason plants a lip-lock on Anna.  Whether it was a done in a moment of two people believing this could be their last moments on earth, or if it was Jason’s way of calming Anna down, the upshot of the kiss may be felt for some time if the two make it out of their predicament alive and back to Port Charles.

Speaking with Soap Opera Digest about the unexpected turn of events, although some GH fans predicated a Jason and Anna relationship may be on the way, Finola Hughes expressed, “It’s motivated by a lot of things,” she related as she was surprised by the moment in the script.

Photo: ABC

“The situation is very dire and it’s really interesting because both Jason and Anna have been in these circumstances before,” says Hughes. “It’s seeming like we (Anna and Jason) were going to die, more so than in other situations.”

Now, that the two have kissed, it will be interesting to see if its just a one-time deal or something more comes of it. Meanwhile, Holly (Emma Samms) and Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) are fighting off Sidwell and attempting to get their freedom and rescue Anna and Jason.

Photo: ABC

Previously, Lucky learned from Jason that Lulu is in need of a liver transplant and he is her best bet to get one, so Jason and Anna came to find him to get him back safely and as quickly as they can to Port Charles. Lucky doesn’t have to much time to process the news, as like his friends and fellow captives, he has to try and manipulate Sidwell for his freedom.

So, what did you think of the Jason and Anna kiss? Did you see it coming? Do you think the show will go anywhere with Jason and Anna as a couple, or is it a one-time thing? Comment below. But first, check out some scenes between Finola Hughes and Emma Samms and company from today’s GH.

Jason kissing Robin’s mom? Who in Hell’s name thought that was a good idea?

Ummm; what’s different about Jason and Anna from Carly and Tony, Kiki and Griffin, Sam and Sonny, Sam and Rick, Kiki and Morgan, Ava and Morgan. Etc, etc. I LOVE IT! I think they have incredible chemistry together. Robin and Jason were kids; over thirty years ago. Why would anyone care??? Way too many of you seem like you never watched a soap before and haven’t noticed all the couples and their intertwined relationships.

That was awful, just awful! That’s Robin’s mom! Besides that, Jason and Anna make each other weaker, not stronger.

When Carly asked Jason to help find and rescue Lucky, I expected something exciting. Unfortunately, it has been a snooze fest caper and rescue so far. I dont think I’ve ever seen Jason look so weak. And Anna has just become a crybaby. Hopefully Brennan will come through and save the day.

Who cares if it’s Robin’s Mom?

Thank you. I can’t even believe some of these reactions. I really hope in this case Valentini ignores the complaints. Anna and Jason is a brilliant pairing!

“Brilliant pairing”? How about desperate pairing? These two have zero chemistry and yes, the optics are glaring. This is as disgusting and as incestuous as the Drew and Willow pairing.

Maybe look up the words incestuous and soap opera. There is nothing “incestuous” about this pairing. How long have you been watching soaps?

Carly with Tony, her mother’s husband.

Sam with Dante and his father Sonny

Ava and Kiki both with Morgan and Griffin

Monica with Ned, her husband’s nephew

Sam and Dante share a sister Kristina and a brother Leo.

But you think Anna and Jason are “incestuous” because he dated her teenage daughter thirty years ago????

What else is “disgusting” to you? Hope it’s not age because in real life they’re only about ten years apart, and in-story maybe 14. Anna had Robin at 17 and Jason was older than Robin.

Boring? I think they could be one of the most compelling couples on the show. Jason has been stuck in a rut for thirty years as Sonny and Carly’s puppet. All he does is live for them and their family. THIS pairing could open up a whole new dynamic and role for Jason…and bring a freshness to his character.

I thought that kiss was one of the most meaningful I’ve seen on GH in ages. A kiss between two people who thought they were about to die; who shared history and familiarity and what they thought were their last moments. I really hope the show pursues this couple.

Oh, and again with age? “Jason” had a much bigger age difference with Britt than he does with Anna. As characters, and in real life between the actors.

Exactly! I didn’t know Robin was Jason’s daughter or even close to it. I hate the pairing, but what’s the relationship everyone is worrying about?

Here’s to GH for giving us the pairing we didn’t know we needed – Ned and James were so fun to watch.

Wait, did you expect me to say Jason and Anna? Thank God I watched well after lunch because that was as stomach turning as the pairings of Sonny and Emily or Luke and Felicia were. Unlike both of those pairings, where I felt bad for the women, this time I feel bad for both performers.

Please, make it stop.

Nicely done, Steve. I haven’t watched GH in 6 weeks but I saw this clip on social media. Suffice to say the collective chorus of yucks speaks volumes about what a bad idea this was. It smacked of desperation on the writers’ part. It’s not about the generational divide but about the fact that Robin, Anna’s daughter, was the love of Jason’s life as he was hers. I feel like this signals the death knell of this once great soap.

Sorry Harry. I loved it! They had more chemistry in that scene than any couple I’ve seen on GH in years. I think it’s a brilliant choice and I hope the writers stick with them. Robin? That was over thirty years ago! Need I remind you of the tiresome question that this “is a soap?” Why care that Robin loved Jason when she was sixteen.

Lol. I still recoil thinking of the Luke and Felicia pairing.

Seeing the scene again at the beginning of Friday’s episode, I realized there was a context there that was missing from the way the scene was shown on Thursday. If you watch carefully you might notice that Jason appears to be listening to something right before he kisses Anna. And then the goons show up at the cell while he’s in the middle of the kiss.

So I believe what we saw here was actually a quick diversion by Jason, so the goons would not question why he and Anna were standing so close together, and that she was actually trying to pick the lock on his handcuffs with a wire at the time. Anna – being an old spy – probably instinctively caught on to what Jason was doing, and played along, so not to look suspicious.

This being the case though, I would say that Jason has better hearing than my dog Cerberus. And he has 6 ears!!

So while the scene did look somewhat repulsive, it served a purpose in helping them escape. And I’m not betting any souls that it goes any further than that.

If that was a fake out or test by the writers, I give them credit for getting the fan base chatting. Friday’s episode was far more interesting than Thursday – with Jack now looking like a hero/good guy, saving the lives of a Spencer, Quartermaine and Scorpio.

Yeah, Brennan seems to be on the same redemption path that Luke & Sonny were back in the day. They were both originally hired as 13 week villains and underwent significant character transformations when they caught on with the audience. This week’s episode of the “Daily Drama” podcast has Steve & Bradford discussing this transformation with Charles Mesure himself.

Mesure was a great find. And, they’re writing the character correctly. Charismatic and intriguing. He has the best chemistry with Wright since her original pairing with Ingo.

I don’t think she good enough for him, but can’t deny their chemestry.

It did not look “repulsive,” Ugh; some of these comments are repulsive.

Oh, please, I can let it go if you were ever wrong before, if you are right this time. Your explanation sounds good to me.

Yes, please, please, please, pretty please! Yuk, Cold Stone and the British Iron Pants.

I like Anna and Jason together WAY better than Willow and Drew.

And what ? Can we add stocker to the list of creepy things to call Drew now ? Total jersey for following Willow to the boathouse.

I hope Michael does find out soon so he and Ned can both kick Drew to the curb.

I am all for getting rid of Cameron to save Kelly.

Can you tell Timmm who I don’t speak to, that Jason “tapping” (disgusting implication) Molly is ridiculous. Jason is around the same age in the show as he is in real life. Probably 50 in the show, Steve is 54 in real life. “Molly” is about 32 in the show, and the actress is 28 in real life. Anna and Jason are much closer in age…

We are all soap fans.. let’s be kind to everyone.. I could recommend a song from one of my favourite singers.. youtube Frank Turner – Be More Kind. It is a wonderful song and will bring thoughtful emotions.

He is very popular in England and go to his shows whenever I can

No thanks; I have history with this guy. He’s been a prick to me for years.

I am sorry to read that. May I ask, do you know him in real life or just as a faceless name that posts on this site?

I too have had a few zingers to my comments and I must admit, I too have given a zinger or two.. but at the end of the day, don’t we all just enjoy the soaps.

Please give that song a listen.. I’d at least like to send it to you, and hope that we all continue to have spirited discussion over the soaps.

It’s too long to get in to GH fan. Suffice to say it’s a long history on this site and I was at the receiving end of his nasty comments and attacks many times. No need to get into it as it will just perpetuate and reignite it. I simply asked that you point out to him (since I read all the comments and normally would reply especially to something that’s factually inaccurate or an insult to women) that the words he used “tap her” (vulgar term to have sex with a female) and that his saying that Anna is too old (another jab at women) is rather hypocritical since, if he wants to refer to age, Molly is way too young for Jason.

But, it was a request; if you don’t feel like pointing that out to him that’s fine. Thank you for your replies. But to let you know, I have no need to listen to your song. Perhaps Timmm should.

I feel certain Timmm is reading… if you ever chooce to listen to that song, I remain optimistic to read your thoughts.

Mr Fairman I have listen to your music and like your new song.

GH fan. You don’t know me. I don’t need a peace/love lecture. I explained that this poster whom I mentioned and I, to put it bluntly, detest each other. Leave it at that.

Rebecca1, whilst I respect how you feel, as an open gay man since 1984, you cannot even begin to comprehend the offensive comments I have had said to my face and behind my back. But that doesn’t mean that I have given up on humanity. When my home province passed sexual rights and protection laws in 1987, I thought the we had finally achieved respect. Especially when a good friend ran for mayor of our city, and won. He was in office 1998 to 2004. But here we are in 2024, with the world how it is.

I, would never speak like that too you.

I don’t see how you can compare one couple to the other. Jason is not doing anything disloyal or dishonest.

Anna is too old for Jason! He needs to tap Molly and have Ric shit a brick! Molly deserves better than TJ!

#Molly&Dex for the win

I hate the idea of Jason and Anna together. And yes, I’ve been watching soaps for a long time, I know how they work. I’m not saying that them being together isn’t a plausible idea, even if it’s totally random like they pulled two names out of a hat, I just think it’s a bad pairing for a variety of reasons.

If they were going to pair Jason with someone random, I liked the scenes Steve Burton and Maura West had a few weeks back. I could have believed Jason and Ava a lot more than Jason and Anna. I personally would have liked to see Anna and Brennan together. Finola Hughes has a lot more chemistry with Charles Mesure than she ever has with Steve Burton.

Ava is a horrible person; she has nothing of value to give to Jason. Jason at heart is good. She was also the catalyst that started the chain reaction to Morgan’s supposed death (let alone the fact that she was Morgan’s lover and she’s Sonny’s daughter’s mother. And, knowing Jason, he’d never be with Carly’s enemy. Ava’s a backstabber, Jason is the epitome of loyal. I agree that it could have been interesting to see an Anna/Brennan pairing, but personally I think Anna and Jason are an unexpected gift! Anna’s good; she’s a decent, empathetic, human being. She’s been trying to get Jason to the side of good for a while now…and their combined experience and skills in the world of crime, from whichever side they’ve come from, could make them a formidable couple. I just love the idea. Unfortunately for me, I think there are too many voices screaming through their screens at Frank so I’m doubtful the show will pursue it. We’ll see….

Let’s hope it was part of a distraction – or a way to calm her down.

Because this is a really bad idea – a massively bad idea. It’s a worse idea than Drew kissing Willow kind of idiot idea.

Robin’s mom kissing Jason is a very bad idea. One of many GH has made lately! I don’t know who is writing this disaster, but they need to wake up !! Even Jason’s return was a flop !!! Can anyone tell me why we need LuLu ? We don’t need Natalia and we ,definitely, don’t need another Sonny baby mama !!!!!

Please, please no Anna and Jason. He is Robin’s high school sweetheart !! Love to see Anna with Brennan !!!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

By

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
