GENERAL HOSPITAL: ‘Spence’ Revealed That the True Esme Is Back; As She Learns Baby Ace Is Gone and with Nikolas

Courtesy/ABC

On Wednesday’s January 17th episode of General Hospital, Esme (Avery Pohl) got a taste of her own medicine after returning to Laura’s following her courthouse appearance. Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) is there and learns Esme pled guilty and the lawyers agreed to a plea deal.

Esme wants to get her son, Ace, but Spencer blocks her way telling her Ace is not here. That’s when he lowers the boom, that Ace is with Nikolas (Adam Huss) and she needs to accept Ace is gone. Esme goes off that that she is his mother and Nikolas has no rights to be able to take him.

Spencer reveals he has been on to Esme and that she is the same cruel and manipulative person who destroyed everyone’s lives. In fact, he gave Ace to Nikolas. Spencer believes Ace will have a happier life with his father.

Next, when Esme call him “Spencer”, he says,”Don’t you mean Spence, like you used to call me when you did your father’s bidding.” Next, Esme flashes back to calling him Spence at the PCPD but claims. so what?

Next, Spencer tells her that he knows she has her memory back and that she remembers: tormenting Trina (Tabyana Ali), taping revenge porn on Cameron (William Lipton) and Josslyn, setting Ava’s (Maura West) car on fire, and all because her twisted father, Ryan Chamberlain, put her up to it.

When Esme says she is going to the cops because Nikolas kidnapped her baby, Spencer counters. He says he’ll have to tell the cops that she’s got her memory back if she makes that move. Can she really risk it? An enraged Esme storms out.

What did you think of the scenes between Spencer and Esme as played by Nicholas Chavez and Avery Pohl? Will Esme get what’s coming to her, or will she now go in for the kill and destroy any lasting happiness for Spencer and Trina? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

I find myself between a rock and a hard place. While I love Avery, the actress, I would not be very happy with the “old” Esme re-emerged.
—-will there be any chance of meanie Esme to stay buried, albeit she has her memory back?
Spence tries so hard to be a man, but he is failing miserably—-he is a weakling who, once again, succumbed to his crooked father’s wiles. Furthermore, he is settling for baby-girl nuTrina —she has no spunk or spark, no matter how hard she tries to be cheeky. It “ain’t “ working!!
Spencer and Esme are electric.

You can bet your soul that Esme is going to drop the pretense of amnesia entirely now, that Spencer has allowed Nikolas to run off with “Ace” (let’s hope he has the sense to give the poor kid an actual name).

Esme might even make another visit to Pentonville to get some advice from her psycho mommy Heather. Is Port Charles about to see another epidemic of LSD-spiked beverages??

I know—Ace is a strange name—Go figure. As I previously said, the word for ace, in Italian, is asso—That’s the first thing that clicked in my head when I heard the name. Poor kid, indeed, being stuck with that name and family.
Nikolas does not love Ace. The kid is a Cassadine—ergo, a possession.
I believe Spence still has the hots for Esme, but is not man enough to admit it. Thus, he settles for a run-of -the-mill unsexy, boring girl.

HI Celia, loved your post. I love the new Esme and her protectivness over her son Ace. I’ve read rumors that Spencer is the bio dad, but don’t know which one is worse. I can’t stand Nikolas and now Spencer who’s willing to run off to Paris with nuTrina makes me sick. I know Nik Chavez has to leave because he’s doing the new Mendez film , shouldn’t hold that against him., but it sure shocked the hell out of me, him handing over Ace to that awful Nikolas.I loved Esme going to Cyrus for help but me being A Sonny fan knows he would help her also, he’s never gotten along with Nikolas and would would go out of his way to get that baby back, we’ll see how much success Cyrus has.

Violet – there’s no way Sonny would help Esme. Spencer is his close nephew and he’ll always consider Joss family. No matter how he feels about Nik, Sonny would respect their wishes more than the woman who manipulated his nephew and revenged porned his former stepdaughter.

Agreed, Violet. Spencer is a backstabbing weakling, who is acting on spite not concern for Ace. He should know better. Maybe it’s the fact that I don’t like Huss? I’m being honest here. Would I have reacted so negatively if it had been Marcus? I don’t know.
I love Esme and Cyrus—always have, albeit they are/were baddies. And, yes, call me nuts. LOL. In contrast. I can’t stand lying hypocrites who turn bad or good on a dime—Sonny, Carly and now nuDrew make me sick with their pretentious righteousness.

Thanks Celia for agreeing with me even if it’s for different reasons. That stinking Spencer just turning on a dime like that , giving his little brother away to that jerk, I don’t like Huss either, I call him Snarly Face, I know a better name for him in Italian besides Bastardo but Michael wouldn’t print it.I also like Esme but I’m not sure about Cyrus, has he really found religion or is it all an act?
What’s with Drew, not that I mind what he did to Nina, but he’s changing and I’m wondering if it has to do with Jason returning.

LOL, Violet—another great name for Nikolas would be, “mascalzone”.
I like Cyrus because I love Jeff Kober—He’s an amazing actor——but, as yourself, I don’t know if he’s truly redeemed or simply playing everyone.
I do not like nuDrew because I do not like Cameron since his AMC days. —. I love Nina… She is being unjustly abused for doing the right thing for the wrong reasons. But, compared to Carly, she’s an angel. Then, there’s Sonny—-suddenly he’s this honest, church-going Saint who beats people up in the House of God —-and who is a criminal with so many sins on his soul; if he even has one.
Glad to hear about Jason’s return. Hope he and Nina become an item. Wouldn’t that just be the twist of all twisters??

It will be interesting to see how they write off Nicholas Chavez to go and do the Menendez miniseries. Will he have regrets and go look for his little brother or will something happen to him? Also the original Trina I really enjoyed watching but this new Trina gets on my nerves and I hope she stays in Paris for good

As of now, it seems like there will be one of two reasons for Spencer to leave town for a while. Either he runs off to Paris with Trina, or he gets a guilty conscience about allowing his deadbeat dad to run off with his baby brother, and takes off on a wild goose chase looking for Nikolas… much like Grandma Laura did when she needed to get off camera for her annual “summer vacation”.

So in other words, the current version of Nikolas is more a recurring convenient plot point, than an actual serious character.

As far as the original Trina goes, you aren’t alone in thinking she was much better. And it’s crossed a Devil’s mind that maybe the whole reason for sending Trina off to Paris is so they can eventually bring the original back. If I recall, she left the show so she could go to college. Don’t remember exactly how long ago that was, but maybe she’s ready to come back? If “real Trina” and Spencer both returned around the same time, they could reboot their entire relationship all at once.

I hope your thoughts are true. Would be very happy for “real” Trina to return.

This Trina is way better than the first one.She definitely will be back.Off the chain chemistry with Spencer

Y E S—we need the real Trina with that genuine, naturally-built-in -spicy-self!!

Very good , pertinent questions, Monica.

I’m excited that Nicholas took Ace. It really moves story in a new direction. Even with Esme and Cyrus teaming up is an interesting turn.

Spencer needs to go to jail for being an accomplice in the kidnapping of his little brother, Nikolas might be his father but he’s also a wanted man. Neither Nikolas or Spencer get to decide who has custody of baby ace.

You are right here. These mem are both jerks and am so sorry that poor little Ace is related to either one of theml Esme has been a better mother than these two A.Hs

I really feel for Esme right now. She’s so afraid to trust the people that want to help with finding Ace and wants and needs her mom’s help and advice, feeling she’s the only one ho understands her plight, though she knows she’s a nut-case. Today, wacking Kevin over the head just put another nail in her coffin, he may understand why she did it but can’t just take it lying down, no pun intended.

I am really happy that Spencer gave Ace to Nikolas instead of Esme having him. I would have done the same thing.
I really love Spence and nuTina. They are adorable together and such a cute couple. Can’t wait till they get back after the Menedez miniseries.

Lane Davies Joins the Cast of General Hospital Setting up a ‘Santa Barbara’ Reunion with Nancy Lee Grahn

Some very intriguing casting news out of General Hospital. The ABC daytime drama has cast former Santa Barbara favorite, Lane Davies (ex-Mason Capwell), in the role of Fergus Byrne, an attorney who crosses paths with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).

According to TV Insider, Davies will make debut the week of May 22nd.  As soap fans know, together with the aforementioned Grahn, they created the Santa Barbara supercouple of Mason and Julia Wainwright. Davies portrayed Mason Capwell family from 1984 through 1989.

Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time in Port Charles for Lane. From 2002-2004 he played Dr. Cameron Lewis and also shared on-screen story with Grahn.  At that time Davies, played Xander Smith’s father.

GH fans are wondering about the last name of Davies new character, “Byrne”. If you recall, Alexis got herself involved with therapist Dr. Neil Byrne, who died when Harmony broke into Alexis‘ house and killed Neil by injecting him with opioids.

Taking to her Instagram, Grahn shared her excitement at the upcoming on-screen reunion with Davies, “It never gets old. We do 😂…. but it doesn’t 😍. Lookin’ forward to another romp.”

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nikolas Gets an Earful from Ava About Sonny and His Meds; Nina and Drew Can’t Seem to Resist Each Other

Ava (Maura West) seems to feel she has a confidante in a jailed Nikolas (Adam Huss) on the Monday, April 29th episode of General Hospital. In story, Ava heads to Pentonville to visit her ex-husband before he is set to get transferred out of state.

When discussing her living relationship with Sonny (Maurice Benard), which Nikolas already knew about, Ava says she is happy about how her relationship with Sonny has been evolving, Nikolas ask if she’s in love with Sonny. Ava denies it, but goes on to say how great it is for her daughter, Avery to be living with both her parents, who are on the same side and not at odds.

Nikolas believes that Ava loves being in Sonny’s inner sanctum and the power that comes with it. Ava fires back that she spent years looking in from the outside and that everyone despised her. When Nikolas brings up Nina (Cynthia Watros), she says Nina never really could understand the true type of man that Sonny is.

Then, Ava launches in on Carly (Laura Wright), and how she would love to stick it to her, for all the times she blocked Ava from seeing her child and Carly’s attitude towards her. Then, Ava admits to Nikolas that she knows that Sonny has a watered-down version of his bipolar medication, which is making him more vulnerable and she’s capitalizing on it for her own gain. She says she needs to figure out who is responsible, but Nikolas voices concern for Ava’s plan and that if Sonny ever found out she knew about it and did nothing, he would be on the warpath against her. Ava promises she knows what she’s doing. When she says goodbye to Nikolas, he looks upset and sad, as he still seemingly cares for Ava.

Meanwhile in Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) office, Nina walks in complaining about Carly giving her a hard time about maintenance in her office. Nina wants payback for Jason (Steve Burton) buying Carly the hotel, but Drew is not up for playing games with her.  She says they both want revenge on Jason and Carly, which Drew denies. Next thing you know, Nina grabs Drew and kisses him. Although, it seems he might walk out the door and away from her, he locks it, and the two proceed to have round 2 of their hate-sex.

Elsewhere, Anna tells Jason about her shooting Charlotte and her concern about Valentin’s (James Patrick Stuart) involvement with Pikeman. Meanwhile, Valentin visits Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) in Pentonville, where threats are laid out to make Sonny look like the guilty party in eliminating Jason, while Anna is the line of fire, if she doesn’t keep her nose out of Pikeman business, which worries Valentin, who doesn’t want Anna getting hurt in any of this.

So, what do you think about Ava’s plans? Did you like seeing Nikolas back on the canvas? Are you all for a Drew/Nina continued affair? Will Anna get caught in the crossfire only to be saved by Valentin? Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section below.
