Cam and Jos for sure!!

Chase

Joss then Cameron both were awesome

Franco and Dr. O

DR O and Franco were awesome.I was so happy watching them

Susan
I loved this one too.

Cam and Josslyn.

Joss was perfect,love her

They were all so good this year that it was difficult to pick just one. I went with Cameron’s song, but the Nurses did a really wonderful job and I failed to mention that before. Great job!

Joss all the way

Without doubt, Cam’s “north star”! That young man is a natural, so comfortable on stage.
Next, Ned and Olivia–though I think they could have made a better choice in song.
Ava? I squirmed a bit, I must admit. (Ahem!)
Chase’s was a bit of a disappointment. He’s a good singer, but, again, the song choice was not the best.
Valentin–not scintillating. His piano playing is proficient–and, I suppose, his singing.
Meh!

Hi Nancy! 🙂
Ava performed-
Film noir sultry female singers were mostly poised on a piano, it was the sexy thing back in that era. lol
Ava was Vamping according to those days/song..
She did well..

But I gotta say;
the choice of songs were all lowkey sleepers and weepers..
Not one toe-tapper so to say..

Now– the Boomers (the huge percent of soap fans) were from the era of Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard etc.
or=
The Rolling Stones, Beatles, Led Zeppelin (still a fav to All gens) The Doors (forever great) Velvet Underground, The Who, Van Morrison.
((I heard them many times, My mom, Grandparents still get down to them, I checked out and have played their tunes))
But- the songs of the Ball= 2 thumbs down.

Heey Boomers!!
— Rock ‘n’ Roll Will Never Die — !!

Those were the days huh.
And betcha when driving you are tuned into Your Golden Oldies! Singing along reminiscing of the day.
And– the Nurses Ball music choice Stunk!

So- which of them were the best… I gotta say none because of the songs they performed.

Hey again, su!
I do like a range of music–and I’m an alt country fan forever. Am liking the sisters Shelby Lynne and Allison Moorer’s new album. And give me some Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings anytime! Emmylou Harris is a perennial favorite.
And, of course, I can still sing all the words to the songs I used to hear on the radio back in the day. You wouldn’t remember “Your Hit Parade”; I used to sneak in the house as my sister and I were using the old wooden (yes!) push mower and put my hand on the back of the old radio (for better reception) and listen to Patti Page, Kay Starr (“Cross over the Bridge”–can still remember all the words to that one), etc.) And, of course, I’ve been playing Bob Dylan’s winner “Time out of Mind” this week. And I have to play Jerry Jeff Walker’s classic “Ridin’ High” ever now and then. I do love music; I’m all over the map, as you can tell.

You can clearly tell that Mike has run it’s course.. to prop, Sonny… mentions at this year Nurse’ Ball… that they performed

mentions Summertime

OKAY Mike “did” engage

I agree with you. The songs were yawners, and even Ava did not top her performance from last tear, which I loved. I can still see the look on Sonny’s face! The performances were also lackluster.

My vote is for Kathleen Gati-minus Franco. I don’t think singing is his strong suit, maybe alone, never heard him sing, but him chiming in with her, spoiled it for me. Her voice is beautiful alone. The year she sang You Were Always On My Mind to Nathan and daughter Britt, just tore me up.
The rest of the performers were good, and did their best. I did miss Magic Milo, who is always a winner. I would have enjoyed a surprise performer, someone totally unexpected, and never heard from before. I loved Epiphany and the other nurses. They are good singers.

Exactly, Violet!!!! Dr. O can always stand alone on her own talent….no co-star required! Franco’s stilted addition to the song simply interrupted KG’s incredible mojo as Port Charles’ resident NB diva…..but she was still magnificent! The GH showrunners should definitely have Liesl purchase her own nightclub in order for her to incorporate a regular cabaret act into the show! She totally has both the voice and versatility to perform a wide range of musical offerings! More Dr. O please!

Right? I mean, when did Franco become the little joiner? I was so enjoying the purity of Kathleen’s pitch-perfect voice before Kermit the Frog decided to join in.

Tell me about it, Harry! Are Franco and his lovely Liz destined to be the “Ozzie and Harriet” of Port Charles? Next thing you know, he’ll be wanting to lead a pack of Cub Scouts on their summer camping trip! All of this sweetly domesticated, pillar of the community-style reformation really doesn’t suit Franco’s once-mirthful madman of murderous misdeeds persona. The change is simply too great to be plausible.

Shay
OMG, what a wonderful idea. I would love to see something like that come to fruition..They might call it the Wizard of O’s. The possibilities are endless.

Yes, Violet! The possibilities are indeed endless! Given her mysterious Dr. O moniker, there are so many clever names for a club that could be drawn upon by Liesl! Simply “O!” would say it all, or how about “O My!” Or “O No!” The there’s “Liesl O’s”—-sort of a play on the famous “Jackie O,” or the slightly naughty “Big O’s!” Whatever its title, I envisage some decadent, atmospheric, slightly shady den of iniquity circa the late ‘20’s Weimar Republic…we could expect no less from this glorious bad gal goddess! Lol….Quite frankly, I don’t care what her nightspot would be called….I just like the idea of Kathleen Gati having a place to showcase Obrecht’s amazing talent 24/7, 352 days a year, because she really is that awesome, no matter the genre of music she performs. It’s all topnotch with this superb songstress in the equation!

Shay, it was nice chatting with you on the 56th (anniversary thread). Still wading through to see what I missed during my sabbatical. Brilliant idea about the nightclub, PC needs one again! The talent should be allowed to shine more than once a year—or during the occasional karaoke at The Rib. I’m not a song and dance guy by any means but dare I say that some of those performances (especially over the years) were rousing? In complete agreement on the supremely talented Kathleen Gati.

I hope you’ll be able to find time once again for GH amid the British invasion that is your viewing habits. The Cliff Notes version just isn’t the same!

Franco was horrible.

young Cameron was great, and then chase, jossylyn, Franco w/ lies.

Cam

Cameron Performs “North Star”

Cam

Chase was the best

I wanted to vote for more than one perforrmer. Cameron, josh, chase, valentin

Chase

Cameron hands-down! Vocal performance, guitar-playing, songwriting, emotion!

Also, nice to see much love given to songs from the 1970s:
Get Closer (Seals & Crofts)
Guilty (Barbra Streisand/Barry Gibb)
Best of My Love (Emotions)

Franco and Dr. O

I think FRANCO WAS GREAT!!! Watch out, John Travolta!!!! He and Dr. OBRECHT were ABSOLUTELY the best!!!

Chase

Sonny and Mike singing The Summer Wind

I’m a fan of Emma and Ned singing Don’t go breaking my heart.

Adam Huss Makes Another Return to General Hospital as Nikolas Cassadine

Nikolas Cassadine will be back on your screens next week but now via Pentonville. That means, that actor Adam Huss is back for a visit for all-new episodes of General Hospital.

In story, Ava (Maura West) comes to visit her ex in the slammer. So, just what does Ava want now? She clearly has been working an agenda on Sonny (Maurice Benard). Is she working with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart)? What will she tell Nikiolas? stay tuned.

Meanwhile, once news of Huss’ return broke earlier on Friday via Soap Opera Digest, he also announced his return on his Instagram expressing, “For all those who’ve been asking, cat’s out of the bag;) Thank you to all my #Nikolas #GH fans for your unwavering support. I don’t take it for granted for a second! (Even when I can’t answer 😊) #generalhospital”

Huss took over the role of Nikolas back in January of 2023, after Marcus Coloma left the soap opera. Previous to that, Huss filed in for Coloma in September of 2021 and November of 2022. Fast-forward to January of 2024, Nikolas gave Ace to Laura and Kevin to raise, while he eventually turned himself into the police for kidnapping Esme and keeping her hostage while she was pregnant and Wyndemere.

The return of Huss comes on the heels of multiple reports that his on-screen son, Nicholas Chavez is not returning to the show as Spencer Cassadine, while in story Spencer is believed to have drowned int the Seine River after falling off a boat in France, when drugged by Esme.

So, looking forward to seeing Adam Huss back as Nikolas? Do you think GH will eventually have him more full-time? Comment below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Sonny and Jason Trade Threats on Each Other

The love affair that once was mobster Sonny (Maurice Benard) and hit man Jason (Steve Burton), and having each others back, is now apparently over! On the Thursday April 25th episode of General Hospital, an increasingly paranoid Sonny is confronted by Jason.

Jason wants to talk to Sonny about a “family matter”, but Sonny says they aren’t family now because he’s working with the Feds. Sonny goes on to say how he cannot trust Carly (Laura Wright) or Jason and he knows about Jason buying back the Metro Court for Carly from Nina (Cynthia Watros).

When the conversation turns to Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Dex (Evan Hofer), Jason informs Sonny that Kristina (Kate Mansi) knows Sonny ordered a hit. Jason is worried about Dex’s safety. He tells Sonny that if he does something to Dex, Kristina will figure out that he is responsible.

Sonny goes on to say how much he loves his kids and how he will protect them. He then tears into Jason for abandoning his sons, Danny and Jake, for two years and how he has no right to stand there to tell him what to do.

Jason warns Sonny again to leave Dex alone or he’ll personally stop him. Sonny snaps at Jason, countering, “You’ll die trying!” And at that point, Jason walks out and Sonny slams the door behind him.

What do you think about this split in the longstanding relationship of Jason and Sonny? Do you like Jason and Sonny at odds? Will Kristina be the person to ultimately figure out what is happening to Sonny, or it might it be Nina, who knows Ava (Maura West) is up to no good? Share your thoughts in the comment section, but first watch this clip from part of the Sonny/Jason scenes below.

Breaking News

REPORT: Nicholas Chavez Not Returning to General Hospital

For those who were holding out hope that Daytime Emmy winner and fan favorite, Nicholas Chavez would be returning to General Hospital after filming his leading role in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters anthology, it looks like those hopes have been dashed.

According to a report from TV Line, although unconfirmed from General Hospital or a representative for Chavez, the actor will not reprise his role as Spencer Cassadine on the long-running ABC soap opera and continue the love story of Sprina opposite Tabyana Ali (Trina, GH).

Chavez was cast as Lyle Menendez over the the summer of 2023 for the second season of Murphy’s limited Monsters series on Netflix. In the upcoming season, the series will focus on the the case of Lyle and Erik Menendez, the two well-to-do Beverly Hills brothers accused of murdering their parents in 1989.

Photo: ABC

After word from Chavez casting was revealed, GH fans were concerned over the fate of the Sprina story, a spokesperson for GH shared,  “We support Nicholas’ endeavors and look forward to having him return to General Hospital once this project is wrapped.”

In story, the series “killed off” Spencer when he went overboard with Esme to the steely waters below after being injected with a drug, thanks to Esme and falling into the Seine River in France. However, his body was never recovered, and believed to have drowned or washed away. Thus, leaving an opening for Spencer to return in the form of Chavez or be recast down the line.

TV Line shared that ‘multiple sources’ are confirming that Chavez is not returning to the ABC soap opera, which is what many had suspected might be the case once he left for this major starring role in a Ryan Murphy project. Chavez has been relatively quiet on social media for months.

The Michael Fairman Channel spoke with Nicholas Chavez for a virtual interview when he first joined the show in 2021, and spoke to him right after when he won the Daytime Emmy in 2022 – you can see those below.

No word yet on when Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story will debut on Netflix, but it is assumed later this year.

So, what do you think about the news of Nicholas Chavez not returning to his role as Spencer Cassadine on General Hospital? Comment below.
