Patrick asks Robin about her “patient,” but Robin diverts attention.  Later when Matt gets frustrated about his work, talk turns to Lisa Niles: is Matt making a confession?  Michael tries to comfort Sam, shedding light on his past struggle with rape.  Matt interferes with a potential Christmas family celebration for Liz and Lucky, as Ewen looks on.  Kate gives Sonny a Christmas surprise.  The Corinthos mob office gets a surprise, too, meant for Jason.

Maxie realizes Matt has Liz on his mind a little too much – and decides to take matters into her own hands.   Jason tries to comfort Sam, but we realize his anger has too much control.  Liz and Lucky start to share Christmas together – but Maxie rushes in and exposes Liz’s true intentions.  Sonny and Kate engage with some happy moments… but is interrupted with news.

Ridiculously happy, Dante and Lulu decide to take a sobering trip to special place in Manhattan giving Lulu food for thought as a cop’s wife.  Dante has an important moment.  Matt makes nice with Maxie after the drama, promising a loving Christmas.  Sonny takes a new role.  Liz slaps Maxie, and then both ladies get an earful from Matt, and vice versa.  Meanwhile, Lucky decides to take another trip to Ireland despite Cameron’s hopes that his parents reunite.  Ethan gets advice from Lucky about his Wyndemere woman.

Lulu makes Dante happy.  Dante calls up an old Bensonhurst friend. When Monica offers Robin back her Chief of Staff position, Robin makes an interesting decision.  Later, Robin calls Brenda for help.  Spinelli invites Maxie to spend the holidays together.  Sam realizes Jason has seen Franco’s DVD, and they discuss their future.  Both Carly and Sonny try to comfort Michael.  Carly arrives home to Shawn having decorated festively.

Olivia gleefully gathers Bensonhurst family to attend this Christmas Eve wedding – only for Dante and Lulu to put the brakes on expanding the guest list.  Dante and Lulu are married!  Robin bursts into tears and into Patrick’s arms as she wraps Christmas presents and after he gives her a very special present – a deed to land for their new home! Robin gets an important call.  Jason and Sam renew their love Christmas Eve. Meanwhile, the Quartermaines worry about Jason’s anger issues.  Someone drops important and significant memento/gifts to the Q’s for Christmas.  Cameron gets angry at Liz just as Ewen arrives to hear.  Meanwhile, Lucky approaches a notable location.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Alexis’ Life Further Implodes, Olivia Vows Revenge, Nina’s About to Get the Truth

Friday’s episode of General Hospital brought with it excellent performances, and continues to be the show in recent months that has given us the best cliffhangers week after week.

In story, Alexis, who has now been taken into police custody for attacking Franco, (but instead ends up injecting Dante with a syringe filled with an overdose of lidocaine), is with Mac who tries to make her see how her drinking has completely trashed her life, and on her birthday no less!  Mac says she’ll be charged with murder if Dante dies; even though Alexis says she was only trying to protect Sam from Franco.

Olivia, who is beside herself heads to General Hospital, where she learns Dante is in critical condition and that Alexis is the one who gave him the injection which put him in this state.  When she finds out more details of what happened to her son, she is even more confused as to why Dante would run-in to save Franco.

Now in the chapel, Robert joins her and tries to console her.  Ned shows up and Robert tells him to leave after figuring out from Olivia that Alexis and Ned slept together.  After praying for Dante, Olivia leaves the chapel and outside of it, swears she will get revenge on Alexis and make her pay for having an affair with her husband and now almost killing her son!

Back at the police station, Mac believes Alexis’ life crumbled to pieces because of Julian Jerome, and she is now throwing her life away, again.  Mac gets a call from the hospital where he learns that Dante will survive, but he tells Alexis she is being charged with aggravated assault and attempted murder.

Monica learns from Ned and Tracy what happened while she was at a medical conference and how Tracy framed Alexis.  Monica urges Tracy to hightail it out of the country.  It’s the only way Ned will forgive her for what she did.  Later, a police officer shows up with a warrant for Tracy, but Monica says Tracy is not at the Q’s and has left the country.

At the Metro Court following the Sasha/Jackie interview, Nina, who is reeling that Sasha had the other half of the necklace she believes was with her true bio-daughter, puts the two pieces together and Carly’s cover-up begins to become exposed.  Michael tells Nina that Avery found the necklace in the woods near the family cabin. He then shares that the last person to stay at the cabin, as far as he knows, was Nelle when she kidnapped Wiley.   Then, Valentin reminds everyone that Phyllis took Nina’s baby to Florida; which prompts Michael to share that Nelle was from Florida. Carly is really squirming now.   Nina wonders if Nelle is her daughter then.  Jax says he cannot lie to her anymore and needs to tell her the truth! Carly is busted, unless Jax says something else?  We won’t know till Monday’s episode!

Elsewhere, Phyllis takes Sonny (aka Mike) to get checked out at the clinic for his mental state.  Sonny is very manic and feels there is nothing wrong with him and he is on top of the world.  The doctor checks the blood work Sonny had previously and reveals there was a trace of lithium in it, leading to the conclusion that “Mike” has bipolar disorder.  Phyllis, who shares that she did a bad thing in her lifetime (the Nina baby ordeal) that she regrets, wants “Mike” to take the pill.  He apparently does, but with a smile. Did he swallow the pill?

Throughout the show, Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis), Lisa LoCicero, (Olivia) Jane Elliot (Tracy), Cynthia Watros (Nina) and Maurice Benard (Sonny) all had moments that kept us riveted to the episode.

So, what do you think Olivia will do to Alexis?  Will Nina learn the whole truth and nothing but the truth from Jax?  Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

When Martin Met Jackie (AKA All My Children’s Tad and Jenny) on General Hospital

If you caught Monday’s episode of General Hospital, the ABC daytime drama snuck in a ‘wink-wink nudge-nudge’ to viewers of the once dominant ABC daytime soap opera line-up.

Since Kim Delaney was announced as coming to GH to take on the role of ace investigative journalist, Jackie Templeton, longtime All My Children viewers noted that she at some point could be reunited with her former All My Children TV brother, Michael E. Knight, because they are both now in Port Charles.

The one time Tad and Jenny Gardner of Pine Valley got re-acquainted on yesterday’s episode when Martin interrupted a conversation between Jackie and her son, Chase (Josh Swickard).  When he did, Jackie looks at Martin and says, “Do I know you?”   She looks as though she is trying to place exactly where she knows that face from, and from there the two eventually share their first one-on-one scenes as their new soap alter-egos.

In the moment, Martin wants Jackie to investigate what happened to his mother, Florence, and reveals to Jackie that his bio-brother is Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), which perks up Jackie to probably do some digging.

For many, it was great to see Michael and Kim together again, and here’s hoping GH can capitalize on it in future scenes.

So did you enjoy the nod to All My Children history on yesterday’s GH between Jackie and Martin aka Jenny and Tad? Comment below.

GH’s Lisa LoCicero Delivers The ‘Power Performance of the Week’

This week on General Hospital the truth came out on all fronts; as Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) put two and two together and realized Ned (Wally Kurth) cheated on her with Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn).  Meanwhile, Alexis figured out Tracy (Jane Elliot) framed her to make it look like she passed out drunk behind the wheel.

Throughout, there were great performances from Wally Kurth, Jane Elliot and Nancy Lee Grahn, but it was soap vet, Lisa LoCicero, who for us was given the material and stole the show with her heartbreaking performances as a woman scorned.

LoCicero plays Olivia Falconeri from Bensonhurst, so believably, that viewers understand her every woman, who married into the well-to-do Quatermaines, and who has a much higher moral and ethical standard then the Q’s.

In key scenes at the Quartermaine mansion, Olivia confronts Ned about the night he never came home, and she wants the truth.  She also rightly accuses Tracy on being part of the cover-up.  A caught Ned confesses.  He tells Olivia he was in a terrible place, and jumped to the wrong conclusion about her and Robert (Tristan Rogers), and began drinking, which Sam (Kelly Monaco) overhears and can’t believe he was drinking with an alcoholic. Olivia says that Ned is incapable of being trustworthy after spending his entire life amongst a house full of liars and cheats.  Meanwhile, Alexis shows up in the middle of all this to confront Tracy on her machinations setting the stage for a showdown between Olivia and Alexis.

When Alexis and Olivia talk in private, the former legal eagle apologizes to her friend for sleeping with her husband; saying they both knew it was wrong right after it happened, but Olivia quickly points out that they didn’t seem to stop themselves or think it was wrong, while he was unbuttoning his pants or she was taking off her blouse!

Olivia stands her ground through her devastation and is appalled that Alexis calls her a “friend” and how she is only showing remorse because she has been caught!

When Ned tries to talk to Olivia and professes how much he loves her and how sorry he is for having sex in a drunken stupor with Alexis, Olivia is gut-punched.  Ned continually says he thought Olivia and Robert hooked-up thanks to Brook Lynn deleting messages meant for Ned.  The fact that he would assume the worst of her, only made things worse for Ned, and then to go as far as having revenge sex with Alexis, made Olivia feel her husband had sunk to new lows.

It is then Olivia has a moment of reckoning; wondering what is her role in the Quartermaine family anyway, and how she doesn’t really fit in.  Ned promises to wait for her and begs her not to give up on them.  When he leaves, Liv breaks down … her marriage in pieces and betrayed by all those she thought she could trust.

Each of the aforementioned moments were played to perfection by LoCicero, leaving the audience wondering just what will Olivia do next and how will she bounce back from this betrayal.  That is why Michael Fairman TV names Lisa our pick for The Power Performance of the Week.  And, if it’s one thing we know about Olivia, she is a scrappy fighter, a survivor, and in the capable hands of this actress, we will be rooting for her all along the way.

So, what did you think of the performance of Lisa LoCicero?  Do you hope Olivia and Ned work things out and they stay together, or do you want to see if she and Robert Scorpio might have a new romance? Comment below.
