GH’s Josh Kelly Reposts Satirical Video on Actors Doling Out Political Advice as Election Day in America Nears
Josh Kelly (Cody, General Hospital) has always had the ability to make us laugh, and now the General Hospital star once again, shared his satirical video as an actor/politician type, as to why it’s best to listen to your favorite celebrity for advice on what and who to vote for come election day.
In the Instagram post, Kelly calls himself an “Actor and a D-List celebrity”. Josh posted the video with the midterm elections just a few days away sharing, “It was time to repost this old chestnut.”
Josh goes on to jest, “I’m here to talk to you about the upcoming election … I understand elections can be confusing for the layperson. That’s why I encourage you to follow the advice of one of your favorite celebrities or sketch comedy shows.”
Kelly adds, “As actors, we have far superior brains than humans. Having to memorize lines and bring characters to life puts us at an upper echelon. For example, I personally, played a politician on an episode of a TV show once. So I probably know more about government than most politics people.”
You can watch the entire satire below.
Now let us know, what did you think of Josh’s video? Are you enjoying him as GH’s Cody? Comment below.

That’s hysterical. Sadly, there are people who do just that.
I love Josh Kelly. He was so good as con man Cutter Wentworth on One Life to Live. I hope GH is putting him to good use.
Since Roe Vs Wade was overturned after fifty years, I think it’s vitally important that everyone stresses the need to vote for reproductive rights. Moreover, Republicans are threatening to take away Social Security benefits. We have over 150 election deniers running for high office who subscribe to the big lie and who promise to throw out ballots that don’t support their guy thereby taking away our right to vote. This is the most important midterms of our lives- Democracy is at stake and the threat of autocracy looms darkly. I’m sorry Josh Kelly doesn’t get the seriousness of the situation and instead wants to ridicule his fellow actors choosing to exercise their first amendment rights. I’d say the actor is about as big of a fool as his character is and there is more than one horse’s ass dwelling in the Quartermaine stable house. I’ve never subscribed to the idea that actors should keep their opinions to themselves- especially right now. Yes, it can happen here.
Harry, I applaud your commentary here, and I agree with you about the seriousness of the situation, including reproductive rights, Social Security, election deniers, and democracy itself. I worry that not enough people (voters) understand the gravity of our circumstances, the importance of this midterm election. Nor do they get that the Republicans, including the massive number of election deniers and those who favor autocracy, are running on the current economic crisis (and outright lies about crime) and have no real plan to improve either situation.
On a much smaller point, I appreciate Josh Kelly’s self-deprecating humor (“D-list celebrity”). I think he is aware of the importance of the issues and simply pointing out that voters shouldn’t take their cues from celebrities. [Although perhaps I am just mesmerized by his star status… 🙂 ] But again, your main points and concerns are well taken. I hope people wake up from their cultist-induced coma before it’s too late. Take care, Friend!
Hi Jamesj75…I can never figure why some feel actors shouldn’t have the right to voice their opinions. Like Josh. That their opinions are less than yours or mine, even if I don’t agree with all of them. Granted they do have a larger recognition platform to work from, but some football players, tv celebrities/reporters/ authors do, too. But I agree…voters wake up. Do your homework. Too much is at stake. And remember those you vote for are supposed to work for you. Have a good day!
Rose, thanks for your great points here. Let’s keep our fingers crossed. Take care, Friend!
Harry & Jamesj75, this is the first mid-term election that has me truly frightened. I just can’t fathom the blindness to evil and oppression that people are willing to, not only tolerate, but to actually vote for. It’s like a form of madness that calls the events of January 6th a “peaceful protest.” How do you reason with that? It’s not just a matter of having a respected opinion; it’s a fundamental difference in facts. Oy vey! Regarding Josh Kelly… no, I’m not enjoying him or his character or his grubby appearance. I don’t know why we need the character.
I understand your feelings, Soaphound. And I agree that this situation is frightening. Reality deniers are a scary bunch. What happened on January 6th was despicable, criminal, and unfathomable. And yet so many turn their heads away, or downplayed the insurrection, or lied about it. It’s disturbing and unforgivable.
Add to all this that a certain ex-president tonight stated that he will be making a special announcement on Tuesday, November 15th. This lying, hateful, criminal, incompetent, amoral, twice-impeached, wretched excuse for a human being has done incredible damage to our country and to civility. And now he wants to be in charge again?!?! Oy vey encore… Make it stop… Take care, Friend!
Jamesj75
Just saw the the event you mentioned last night and also the so- called Pence interview the night before. The man could hardly answer one question with a yes or no answer. Talking about beating around the bush and evading questions. The Clowns preformance last night was a little underplayed, for him, I thought. Not as much theatrics as expected, but kept my barf bag handy. I know Michael doesn’t want us discussing this, so just let me say, God, save us all.
Great to see your comments here, Violet. I wholeheartedly agree with you. I couldn’t bear to watch either event live, although I saw the pertinent snippets in the ensuing coverage. My blood pressure/sanity/outlook are far better served by not seeing the former president or hearing what he has to say, ‘er lie. And while I appreciate Pence’s actions on Jan 6th, I find I also need a barf bag handy when he speaks, in that deliberate, disingenuous, “Christian” tone. Pence certainly has good reason to break from and criticize Trump, but like so many Republicans, he is so deathly afraid of alienating the MAGA base. Despite all of Pence’s holier-than-thou platitudes, he simply doesn’t have the strength of character to fully repudiate Trump and his ilk, book tour or presidential campaign be damned. Your final phrase says it all, Violet. Take care, Friend!
I appreciate your viewpoint, James. You make a good point. I didn’t mean to be so hard on Josh Kelly. It’s just these are very scary times. I will try and hold onto my sense of humor.
Harry…Another main qualifier for my vote is Character. I have found this increasingly lacking in a large group of those in, out, or running for office. And what they say, and what they do.
Dear Rose, James and SATAN! I want you to know I read and greatly appreciated every wise word you all wrote. Eric Braeden, once an arch conservative, has been speaking out on Twitter against the atrocities he feels the right is waging against reproductive rights, same sex marriage, affirmative action, climate change controls and voting rights. He had been redundantly told to stay in his lane and stick to acting. My main point is that just because someone’s profession is acting, doesn’t negate their right to free speech.
Harry, James, Satan…A couple of observations. Coming from the winning tradition of Ohio State University football I can only think those in Georgia who voted for Hershel Walker must have thought they were at a Georgia football game. Or betting for their team to win. The Bulldogs won again last weekend, and are ranked #1 in the SEC. Otherwise no reasonable explanation. Unfortunately can’t figure for those in my home state who settled for a “celebrity” author with no governing or political experience. ??? :)))
It looks like Georgia is headed for a runoff AGAIN. Poor Herschel’s so dumb he probably thinks that actually involves running down the football field. So he’s thinking “Oh Hell yeah, I got this! I can run faster than the preacher man”.
Oh Satan, how can people vote for this tool? Heck, I’m afraid to say his name out loud lest he send me money for an abortion.
Just noticed your recent comments, Harry, Rose, Satan, and Soaphound. Harry, please know I wasn’t being critical of your initial reaction to Josh Kelly’s video. I saw only the humor in his comments. Lord knows, I have assuredly been critical of a certain actor or two; perhaps I allow my animus for a character to transfer to the actor, and that’s not really fair of me. I also appreciate your informing us of Eric Braeden’s recent comments, which show him in a new light. Rose, your discussion of voters’ allegiance to sports stars, despite all transgressions and transparent, tragic traits, makes sense. Satan, I like your joke about Walker and the “runoff.”
To tie it all together, I think it’s safe to say that so much chaos in our country that had its inception during the presidential campaign of 2016 resulted from misguided allegiance to, and fascination with, celebrity. Regarding the pre-politics celebrity of Trump, Walker, Oz, Vance, Lake, and others: As Rose eloquently states, character is so important and should not be overlooked! And as eloquently noted by Soaphound, facts should not be overlooked either. Don’t tell me a violence-fueled insurrection is actually a form of “peaceful protest” or a “tourist visit.” Take care, Friends!
Jamesj75…Thank you for your comments. Made me think we should all take a deep breath, and be thankful …things could have been worse. And to also be mindful about what we ourselves say and do. :)))
The Religious FundaMENTALists usually claim that I’m trying to control the elections. Hell, I wish I had control of THIS one. Actually, I wish I had control of the entire 2016 cycle, so things would have never degraded to this point.
Typically, the Far Left and Far Right only believe in Freedom of Speech for those with whom they agree. As for the “crime report lies” the statistics prove differently. Thousands of men women and children are killed (minority the vast majority) in the crossfire of the gang wars in the inner cities yearly…a fact the Community Activists and Soft on Crime Left is ignoring. I don’t know where you live but in my hometown, New Orleans , as well as almost every other major Democratic controlled city the violent crime rate is escalating yearly. Additionally, calling out the insurrection in Washington D.C. and ignoring the scores of victims shot and killed in the mostly peaceful BLM rallies where there was shooting, looting, rioting, and destruction of public and private property is utter hypocrisy. Roe v Wade was given back to the states where voters will decide the abortion issue by majority, as it should be.I haven’t seen or heard any politicians from either party state that they want any changes in Social Security. Google the facts with an open mind if you don’t believe me. Lastly, I don’t need a celebrity or politician to influence me, I vote for the Candidate who I feel will best represent my state, city and community regardless of affiliation to political party. I have both Demoratic and Republican friends and family whose opinions I respect equally. A CONCEPT that in this Divide and Conquer political climate by BOTH parties is a rarity..which is why I do my research with an open mind and don’t belong to any. In Purple Louisiana we are allowed to vote without affiliation to a political party. I wish there were more voters like me who would research the facts impartially.
Not true. I despise Kid Rock but I support like hell his right to free speech.
@CArbon. Thank you.
Hilarious. Hope his costars watch this.
Funny! Just happy that I am Canadian!!
On a serious note does working in daytime make one a “D” list actor? Too bad there is that kind of a ranking system in Hollywood.
Some people are taking this seriously and lumping him in with the Yikes!! Of Kimberlin Brown,
Ingo and Steve Burton!!! I think the joke is going over some people’s heads.
I’d vote for him! Certainly better than most politicians these days.
Josh… you are #1 on the A list for me. you are most enjoyable to watch and hope GH gives you long lasting big roles.
brian
I agree and I think we are among the few that feel that way. I wasn’t crazy about him when he first showed up, but he’s grown on me. I can’t wait to find out his real story and what hes hiding about his past. I couldn’t see that paternity paper well, but looked to me like it was positive for a match. I also read somewhere that Scott is his real dad.
Hi Violet 🙂 hope life is treating you well-
I do not care for Steve..watching him is the same ol’–
It’s like watching a clothes dryer spin for hours..
He is quite robotic and expressionless.eeehhh Steve/Jason ..
SuOOO
Hi! Nice hearing from you.Life is treating me as well as can be expected seeing as I just celebrated 90 yrs on Sun. Didn’t do much, just a B.D dinner with family and friends.
You mentioned Steve/Jason. I haven’t seen him since he left GH. I quit watching Days, it was just getting too crazy for me, the stories as well as the characters. Iam still enjoying GH but will be a lot happier when they get rid of that damn Uncle that has his nose in everyone’s life. I shouldn’t say this but wish someone would knock him off. Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving .1
Hi Violet 🙂
__ HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
90! How wonderful and blessed to have a 90–
you are awesome and hold a great amount of history
and life good and bad..
aaahhh the stories you can tell of 90 years on earth..
God Bless you on your journey to a 100 !!
SuOOO
God Bless YOU and thank you for the good wishes. You always know the right thing to say. You know, one of my regrets is not ever getting to meet you and others on this thing and yet I think most of us consider ourselves friends.
A lot of people will disagree with my new thing here but I really like Austin with Britt and think they were crazy trying to make a pair of he and Maxie. I really hate that she’s leaving GH with so many possibilities for her and whomever her choice ends up to be. I’ve seen her four times on Station 19 now so don’t know how long she’ll be doing both shows. What a loss to GH viewers as her role on here is so much meatier than what she’s doing on the other show.
Violet…First let me start with a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!!! . As for Austin and Britt, I don’t know. Too many things left out and secrets. For one, I don’t trust him around the necklace. Plus I think Britt needs a stronger, stand-up kind of guy. As much as I don’t miss Jason, I think he was it. If she is really leaving I will miss her, too.
rose
Iam talking about Dr.Austin Gatlin Holt . I think you are speaking of Cody who yes, seems to have a lot of secrets.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI
FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC
Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
