Looks like new Y&R head writer, Sally Sussman is making some choices to return some familiar faces to the number one daytime drama series.

TV Insider is reporting that fan favorite Judith Chapman is on her way back in December as Gloria Bardwell, the mother of Kevin (Greg Rikaart) and Michael (Christian LeBlanc)! According to a Y&R rep, Gloria returns to Genoa City without warning on Christmas Eve in an episode airing Wednesday, December 21st.

In her interview on her upcoming arrival, Chapman related: “I can tell you that Gloria wants to be reunited with her sons. She has always been led by her heart. That’s why she followed Jeffrey to the ends of the Earth, but it’s time to be with her boys, especially because it’s Christmas. And, of course, Gloria will have the perfect dramatic entrance. She just shows up. Unannounced. Uninvited. Maybe unwelcome.”

So, are you excited to see Gloria after a 21-month absence from Genoa City?  What do you think Gloria is really coming back for her?  Is it just a Christmastime visit, or could there be anything more to it?  Comment below!

I totally agree!!!!

GLORIA! HALLELUJAH!…lol

one of the best Laughing out loud… roar I’ve had in a long time

can’t help but smile

Gloria is coming home

Excellent. A true soap diva.

Am stoked. Ms. Chapman is a daytime drama powerhouse. I cannot say I have enjoyed all the plot points surrounding this family but Gloria does need to be with her sons, especially when they are played by Mr. LeBlanc and Mr. Rikaart. This is a family thread to repair and develop as you can connect Lauren, Jill, Marisa and more.

Thank you for this news today! I sense we will be hearing more positive dispatches that make Y&R legacy viewers very happy indeed.

FAN’tastic post

RIGHT ON … to the Bardwell

NICE

Yeeees!!!! C’mon, Gloria….start kicking some arse!!!! Protect your sons: krvin from Chloe and Zmuchsel from Victor.
Show us what you are made of!!
Oh, yeah, WELCOME back. You have been missed.

Oh, my gosh….should read; Kevin and Michael.
I hope Gloria is back for good. I never tire of her fashion-sense and antics. She will bring some fun to an otherwise glum atmosphere.
Perhaps she will see right through Chloe, as she slips up where Adam’s desth is concerned.

THIS is the biggie !

“…She will bring some fun to an otherwise glum atmosphere. ”

Yes, indeed

“…start kicking some arse!!!! ”

NOW

Thank you, Patrick.

let the festivities begin

Judith Chapman is a whole – new – show

the allure, decadent, partay … well.. she’s dynasty

Gloria Baldwell and – HER – sons

hell hath no fury

Right on, Patrick. Just look at that pose. Hand on hip. Chin up in defiance….” Go ahead; make my day”! ……love it! Can’t mess with Gloria.

good to hear sally will be respecting y n r history and bring back fan faves…hope to see soon some more:
Olivia
Malcolm
Nina
Avery
Tracy
JT
..

I liked Avery but she and JT are not legacy characters.

True! Neither is Gloria. She is good fun in limited doses.

Avery is most indeed a legacy character. The actress has been around since forever and is now playing her dead sister’s twin.

Ooops, my bad. I blanked out and was thinking of Mariah, not Avery.
My apologies.

ALREADY the new writers are shinning a light on a dark period! YES, bring back Gloria and Jeff. They both have family in town. I would try and have Jeff bond [Scheme] with Kevin. Those two are great together! Have them open a new restaurant and hire Miriah! Gloria would either lover her or hate her! Budget problems? Drop Stitch, Patty is done and Dylan is leaving.

Have Kevin re-open Gina’s place (the one he burned down!) Would love to see Gina back! The show needs a diva lounge singer!

Yes. We need a place where Kevin, Michael, Gloria, Jeff and Lauren can hang out.

I so agree with you Ron…I missed Patty Weaver as Gina, she is a fantastic singer.

YAY! Great news. Gloria is who got me hooked on the show.

Welcome back diva…hopefully you’ll target Jill in a fun story. Missing two catty old things going at it

I agree. Jill and Gloria going at it was always terrific.

Very exciting news. Love Gloria!

This is terrific news,. I said this many times on this site. Please bring back Judith. She is a wonderful actress and please sign her to a contract. I love Gloria. Now bring back kimberlin Brown as Sheila Carter. I miss Sheila Carter so much.

Yes! Yes! Yes! About time!

Wow this is wonderful news. I am so Happy Judith Chapman is coming back to Y&R, also Beth Maitland is coming back to Y&R as Traci in late November. Judith and Beth can act and are both lovely classy ladies.

I didn’t hear about Beth Maitland. I was happy about Judith Chapman, now I’m doubly happy. Two of my favorites. I hope they are here long term and not just for the holidays. But I’ll take whatever I can get. Maybe we’ll get to see more of Lauren as well. Bring Michael and his family front and center for a bit. WONDERFUL WONDERFUL

quote, taken, from soapcentral.com

“Traci has her bucket, her mop and her disinfectant and she’s ready to clean up the mess created by her rich, entitled, ridiculously emotional siblings who overreact to everything,” the actress told TV Insider of her return, which will take place on Thursday, November 17. “These people need to sort things out and love each other, and Traci is the person to make it happen.”

yes… it’s a very good cry… It’s the Abbotts

i’m going to cry… Beth Maitland returns

I opecthar is a happy cry Patrick. Either way I would still give you some tissues if I could. Happy viewing

Sally Sussman called Judith Chapman, to come back to Y&R. Bravo to you Sally. I love love Judith so much. Judith is a very talented actress. Welcome back Gloria. Now it’s time to bring back Dina Abbott, cast Elizabeth Hubbard ex Lucinda Walsh ATWT. That would make my day.

i once said Liz as Dina too..another choice would be Judith McConnell

Victoria Wyndham

What about Linda Dano?

Elizabeth Hubbard would be a wonderful Dina. Classic soap opera diva at her best

Yikes! Guys…most of those women are Peter Bergman’s contemporaries! Remember…he was playing a doctor in tbe 70’s!. Liz Hubbard probably closest to age range. I have been watching vintage Santa Barbara lately……and I love love love Judith McConnell. But…is Dina really important to the plot??

I would love to see Dina Abbott return, even if only recurring. I think there is unfinished business between her and Ashley, yes? I want to see the Abbott family recover and renew from all that has been done to them. This is all too good to be true! I have not enjoyed speculation and anticipation is such a long time!

And yes to Judith Chapman. She and Jill could be wonderful frenemies!

I would love Dina back– maybe it would give Ashley MORE story.

YES to more of Ashley. Here is a prime example of a legacy who is right before our eyes and is not being used to her full potential. She deserves more story than talking to Abby and Stitch about their failed (thank god) marriage. The same goes for Lauren, who has been doing nothing more lately than listening to her husband cry over his job. Don’t get me wrong I have forever loved Michael and Lauren, but I say get rid of the GCB crap and give Lauren and Michael, not to mention Ashley some nice juicy stories they can sink their wonderful acting chops in

It’s about time.

Indeed. Hello Dolly!

Yay!!:))))))))

Very happy to hear this news, Gloria needs a juicy storyline. Gloria can have an affair with Jack Abbott. That would ruffle the feathers of Phyllis. Lol.

Yes, Billy. Gloria and Jack. Very age comparable. (Same age).
No dilettante here. What a great idea, Billy!
Now she can be the dowager ‘queen’ at Maison Abbott again. Let’s go full circle. From father to son. LOL. This is so typical for Y&R….why not?

Wonderful news!! Keep these fantastic characters we haven’t seen in a while BACK to GC!! Gloria may be many things but she is never boring!
Can we have a soap draft and trade some of the classic, engaging characters like Gloria for the wooden lame ones?!?! (no names mentioned, but really…)

“… Gloria may be many things but she is never boring! ”

class act, right

Hi Patrick I also read that Traci Abbott is on her way back to Y&R. Maybe we’ll get lucky and she’ll stay this time. We may even find out what really happened to her & Steven.

It’s about time!!!!! Love Gloria! Please give her a storyline and let her stay!

This is really great news !!!

WONDERFUL!!!

I am so happy to hear this news! It’s about time! I agree with Timmm. Drop Stitch, a Patty is done and Dylan is leaving. Keep Ms. Chapman. I miss her character and the interaction with her sons.

Wonderful.hope is on to stay

‘Bout time. Love her.

oh my 1rst beth maitland now judith next u will be telling us micheal muhney is back as adam,,ooooooooohhhhh somebody pinch me,,

I get, high, too

??? my disclaimer… I enjoyed the WORLD SERIES – last night

Chardonnay.

Peace

Great news!!!

Judith Chapman is one of the best actors on daytime and even nighttime. If Jill is going to play matchmaker than we need Gloria back to add “Bitchy catty sarcastic” comments where ever she passes.

I hope this is not just a Xmas visit but a return to the soap.lets have her run one of the two always empty restaurants in town.

WELCOME BACK TO THE AMAZINGLY TALENTED AND BEAUTIFULLY WONDERFUL Judith to our show! So excited!

“…comments where ever she passes. ”

she stinks, right on you

pass

Gloria Bardwell is thee amazing treat

This is FANTASTIC news. I pray that it is for an on-going basis, not just a measly 1 or 2 day appearance!

For the first time in a DECADE, I’m actually looking forward to the show again. It has been a LONG time.

Question asked—–
”’So, are you excited to see Gloria after a 21-month absence from Genoa City? ”

Answer—-
No

Don’t throw shoes at me but that character is far from my liking..

happy for all that can like the character, enjoy .

Oh just when I was starting to like you.

hi Addison ..
It’s ok. Your’er still my BFF … lol

Judith is another of those women on soaps who is a class act and in a category all her own. Her acting chops always leave me wanting more because she is just so powerful with anything she’s given to play and I’m not just talking about her work on Y&R either. I am very happy she ill be back on my screen!!!

she’s amazing…

I remember watching her on General Hospital

I kept thinking… how is it that she’s married to Rick Webber , after Leslie

yet.. she directed… melded and fine tuned her

what a powerhouse.. as you put it

long live Gloria… she’s back where she belongs

The Bardwell Family is simmering… frothing.. lusting.. belonging

I loved he from her GH days as well. A classic soap actress returns to the fold

From one James to another:

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Judith was on ATWT and mesmerizing fans even back then!

I knew about that and I think she was on Ryan’s Hope as well. I didn’t know her until she played Ginny on GH. I wonder if Ted Shackelford will follow her back as Jeffrey?

Thanks for your reply, James! Yes, we’ll see if Shackelford follows Chapman back to the show. You are absolutely correct about Chapman being “in a category all her own.”

Yay! So happy to hear this! Have missed her and hoped she would
return. Will be great to have her finally back in GC.

Yes Paul. I loved when she was running Gloworm. She was such in her element during that time. If I am remembering correctly, in the beginning when Chole and Chelsea first started the business I think Gloria was working with them for a brief moment. Remember she is Chelsea’s stepmother, provided if she is still married to Jeffrey Bardwell. And if they are stiil married I am hoping they bring back Ted Shackelford. I think he and Greg Rikaart 2ould terrifice together

Happy to welcome Gloria back, but sure hope she leaves her husband behind. He us such a sleeze, as bad as Jill’s husband. Two of these moochers is too much.

YES!!!! Awesome news

Hopefully John Abbott will wake up from a coma and the last 10 years will have been a bad dream.

This is such good news! I’ve missed Glo and Judith Chapman is daytime royalty to me. It’ll be good to have her back on Y&R.

It all depends what they do with the character– having her back for a few episodes is not exactly a major story line– nor is having her as recurring and trotting her out whenever they need her to meddle in her boys lives– I like the actress but I am more interested in what they are going to do with the character before I start jumping up and down with glee– same with Tracy— it is the story and how they use the character that is important– and although I am hopeful Sally will bring the goods– soaps are produced differently than they were in her hey day and even with here at the helm of the story telling doesn’t mean the network’s old bait and switch move won’t apply– Bringing in old favorites more like guest stars than making them a part of the fabric is a standard ploy to try to lure in ex viewers– get them hook on the new story and then magically the fan favorite is gone– call me a cynic but I take all these “news” item with a grain of salt until I see the story that backs them up or not.

Wonderful news! Gloria is an interesting, fun character. Judith Chapman is an excellent actress. She deserves frontburner status!

She is a wonderful actor, but I agree with it depends upon the role. Hope the writers don’t do too much too fast.

Must have missed some episodes because it never was clear to me why Victor knew about Christian’s paternity. As viewers, we knew the potential. Where did Victor step into such information?

Please stop making Jack so stupid!

Please don’t destroy Mariah. She is surprisingly solid.

I feel in neutral about things and am awaiting the new writing. Now the show feels like a salad just beginning to be tossed. Hope it comes together!

Lifetime’s ‘Ladies of the ’80s: A Divas Christmas’ Brings Epic Food Fight and “Slapfest Coup de Grâce”

Get ready for the feuding soap opera divas, when five actresses known for their signature primetime and daytime roles are brought together in Lifetime’s new holiday film, Ladies of the ’80s: A Divas Christmas.

Saturday night, December 2nd on Lifetime (8pm ET/7PM CT) marks the highly-anticipated holiday movie premiere featuring: Donna Mills (ex-Knots Landing), Nicolette Sheridan (ex-Knots Landing), Morgan Fairchild (ex-Falcon Crest et al), Linda Gray (ex-Dallas) and Loni Anderson (ex-WKRP in Cincinnati).

Here’s what we do know! In story, five alums from the long-running soap, The Great Lakes reunite for a live Christmas finale. Uh-oh!  Now take a look at the backstory of the colorful cast of characters (pay special attention to the clever twists on the actresses names!)

Photo: Lifetime

LAUREN EWING (Linda Gray) “Everyone thinks I’m so damn good all the time,” confesses the junk food-loving Lauren of her second act as a lifestyle guru. “I don’t know how Gwenyth Paltrow does it!”

DANA CUNNINGHAM (Donna Mills) Now a sitcom mom, she’s yet to make amends to ex-bestie Juliette after abruptly leaving the soap back in the day. Not that she hasn’t tried: “When I thought the world was going to end in Y2K,” Dana says, “I reached out to her, and she never called me back.”

LILY MARLOWE (Loni Anderson) After replacing Dana on ‘Great Lakes’, Lily never again found a role to win her acclaim. “What do I have to show for (my career)? An arc on  For the People – Shonda Rhimes’ only flop!”

JULIETTE MATHESON (Nicollette Sheridan) “She left me for L.A.,” the party girl turned fashion mogul recalls of Dana’s betrayal. Will their feud derail the entire event?

MARGEAUX ROBERTS (Morgan Fairchild) “Fasten your face-lifts, ladies, it’s gonna be a bumpy weekend!” The sassy grande dame of ‘Great Lakes’ sees the Juliette-Dana beef as the perfect escape from her own domestic drama.

Photo: Lifetime

Now, making this all the more hysterical is the director of The Great Lakes reunion special, which makes the five women live under the same roof, is its former child star Alex, who has gotten his ex-girlfriend, Nell to direct the finale. Meanwhile, in the subplot. the ‘Ladies of the ’80s’ come up with a plan to get Alex and Nell back together.

As with any good soap opera, there is a major food fight. Linda Gray shared with USA Today ,”The food fight was one take. And it was fabulous.” And of course, their is a bitch-fest slap-fest. Morgan Fairchild revealed, “Oh honey, we all got ours in. Mine was a simple, ‘How dare you?’ with a slap. But I was hoping for a punch.”

Photo: Lauren Dukoff/Lifetime

The movie’s EP, Larry Thompson, who is a Hollywood manager and has Donna Mills as a client, said that the entire scene peaks with the”slapfest coup de grâce.” What is that exactly? That is when Donna Mills pushes Nicollette Sheridan into a pool in a nod to Dynasty’s Lily bond battle between Dynasty’s Alexis (Joan Collins) and Krystle (Linda Evans).

In case you missed it previously, check out the trailer for Ladies of the ’80s: A Divas Christmas below, also starring Patrika Darbo, Alec Mapa, Mills real-life daughter, Chloe Mills, and Christopher Atkins with theme song by Tiffany.

RATINGS: The Young and the Restless Hits Five-Month High in Total Viewers

B&B had a net gain of +66,000 viewers compared to the week prior.  The series continues to play up the story that has Eric Forrester (John McCook) trying to cope with the fact he has been told he only has a short time left to live.

Mishael Morgan Stars in Hallmark’s ‘Christmas with a Kiss’

The Young and the Restless fan favorite, Mishael Morgan (Amanda Sinclair) is back with yet another holiday film, in which she stars. This Sunday, December 3rd, look for Morgan in Hallmark Channel’s, Christmas With a Kiss (8pm ET/7pm PT).

In the romantic holiday film, Morgan stars a Mona, a New York City social media ambassador who has been rather unlucky in love as of late. Before Christmas, Mona takes a trip to Manhattan and returns to her family’s farm upstate to help her parents prepare for the annual Christmas carnival, founded by her great-grandfather.

According to Sinclair family lore (interesting the last name is “Sinclair” … right, Y&R fans?). one will find everlasting love if they kiss their date under the mistletoe during the carnival’s closing-night dance.

Photo: Hallmark Channel

Like clockwork, Mona runs into her ex, Fletcher (Ronnie Rowe Jr.), and old sparks reignite. But wait! Mona has another suitor in Dez (Jamie Callica), a reporter doing a story on the Sinclair family.  Who will Mona ultimately kiss under the mistletoe?

Mishael who resides in both Toronto and Los Angeles, was able to be part of this latest holiday movie near her Canadian backyard as it was shot in Milton, Ontario back in October.

Photo: JPI

In a recent Instagram post, Morgan shared: “What a fun shoot this was. In the name of Christmas, Don’t miss this one 😆🎄” The actress also just starred in BET’s: Sworn Justice: Taken Before Christmas. One thing is certain, since departing Y&R, Mishael has been in-demand.

Check out a sneak peek of Christmas with a Kiss below. Then let us know, if you hope an Amanda Sinclair visit to Genoa City might be in store next year in 2024, via the comment section.
