Kim Delaney Joins the Cast of General Hospital
All My Children fan favorite, Kim Delaney is coming to Port Charles and ABC’s General Hospital!
News today from Deadline indicates the former soap star from her days as Pine Valley’s Jenny Gardner will be arriving on the scene in a role being kept under wraps. No word if Kim will be a new character or perhaps a very much alive, Jenny.
Delaney starts taping her role on GH tomorrow with her first episodes to air in late September or early October.
Previously, the actress nabbed three Emmy nominations and a supporting actress win in 1997 for NYPD Blue. She most recently has been appearing on Chicago Fire and The Oath. Soap fans also remember her from the series, Army Wives.
Kim’s upcoming arrival to GH reunites her with her former on-screen brother, Michael E. Knight (Martin) who played Tad Gardner on AMC. Could they be related on GH as well?
So, what do you think of Kim joining GH? Who would you like to see her play? Comment below.
Well that’s certainly unexpected.
she would be great as Elisabeth mom, they kind of have a resemblance I think.
Nope,they don’t sorry
Cast list is totally full… but will she be Lois recast? Brooklyn’s mom.
I was thinking the same…
Likely, she’ll play Chase’s mom. Long shot that she’s a recast Lois.
Whomever she plays, there’s bound to be a scene at the MetroCourt where her character runs into Martin. Some clever quip from MEK is in order.
Sounds great! I wish she was joining All My Children along with Michael Knight but I’m still thrilled and looking forward to it!
I am so excited!
I love Kim–it’s about time!! There are so many possibilities—-Alex Devane with a new face? Holly? A completely new character? —how about Martin’s sister? LOL–his wife? Robert’s new love interest?
The best would be for her to snatch Finn from Anna—-such a mismatched couple—no sex appeal; no oomph; just a tiring woman.
Hi Celia- 🙂
ahha! she will be Scorpios supposedly dead love, alive.
A Holly recast would be an incredibly stupid thing to do. Especially with somebody who is not even British. They should probably hold off on any Holly storylines until Emma Samms is available & healthy to do the job.
I’m going to pull an idea totally out of left field here and say that Kim Delaney might be Elizabeth Webber’s mother. Somebody who has never actually been seen. In fact, I don’t think she’s ever been given a name. Of course that also means that Jeff Webber might be coming back to Port Charles for the first time since 1981 or so. Hopefully NOT a recast, since Richard Dean Anderson probably hasn’t been all that busy since the Stargate franchise went off the air.
GH really doesn’t need any more new characters right now, but at least if it were somebody from an OG Port Charles family (and not a ridiculous forced fictional family tie like Frodd “Baldwin”) that wouldn’t be so bad. Hell knows Elizabeth could use some actual family members.
The role of Holly IS NOT the exclusive property of Emma Samms.
You keep repeating that same talking point, but the fact is that some roles simply cannot be recast, and in other cases, there would be no valid reason to even attempt such a thing.
The character of Holly isn’t really essential in any of the current storylines, so if they had something in mind for her, there’s no reason why it couldn’t wait until Emma is healthy enough to do it. I would certainly prefer Holly Sutton Scorpio over the likes of Ava, Nelle, or Frodd any day.
Thank,you! Well said!
Yes,Liz’s mom was named Carolyn Webber.. no maiden name
What’s your source for that? I don’t remember Liz or anybody else ever mentioning her mother’s name.
We good with the liz stuff.besides her parents are doctors.the cast is way to bloated.and has anyone realize that frank is turning GH into OLTL AMC cross over.
Yeah, right?? It could be Holly, after plastic surgery. I wasn’t even born when she left, but I am pretty acquainted with the character—-supposedly, Holly Scorpio died in a plane crash. What if she survived? Good plot!!
Wouldn’t be the first time. She supposedly died in a plane crash in 1987…. she was also pregnant with Robert’s child at the time. Which should logically have been Ethan. But instead we got this ridiculous rewrite as part of the “FLuke” storyline which made Luke his father (even though Luke was living in Canada with his family at the time, hiding from Frank Smith)
Evidently, Luke had a long reach so to speak. I thought that Anna was the love of Scorpion’s life, but he acts like it was Holly.I did not see them together,so can’t really have an opinion.
I LOVE the idea of a LOVE Interest w/Robert. that way… NO ONE LOSES. and it’s a sizzling pair with excitement !!!! you just sit and anticipate. Drive Robert
it would ALL take care of itself. STEAM ROLL PLEASE
your last sentence. it’s a wonder how – VOID – just put a stamp on it. Anna and Finn. ???? People, really ? Frank VAlentini MUST NIX this tired Pairing
I hope Robert and Liv end up together. Therefore, I am hoping Kim with play Lois. That would give Ned the opportunity to rekindle his love for Lois.
Hey, Timmmy—-how are you??
Funny thing—The thought of Robert and Liv together did cross my mind lately. There is a tangibly vivid connection there—I felt it; more so than with the other guy, her husband (in my head he’s Justin–HaHa)—- getting old, as his name constantly escaoes me.
I did familiarize myself with Lois—and, yes—-I would love to see the rekindled love. It must have been a great one!!
So, I agree with you, my friend—-
I am great C! And you are here so you must we well? I was all for Ned and Olivia but the magic has worn off. He and Kim Delaney would work well together. Robert has a light that hasnt been seen in his eyes for some time. Liv does that to him and it could be fun to see them mix with Anna and the “Insect!” [Finn] BTW, I like the replacement Brook Lynn but I hope the other actress is back soon! Luv ya!
The previous Lois recast was so horrible, I figured they probably gave up that idea. It’s hard to imagine anybody other than Rena Sofer pulling off that role, at least properly. The look, the attitude, the Bensonhurst accent, the ridiculous fingernails, all of it. Otherwise, it ain’t Lois. Hell, she even had me convinced she was Italian (even though she’s not)
Satan…So agree about Rena as the original Lois. This was a great and fun time that included Jax and Alexis. Do I remember her popping up out of a big cake at some celebration? Don’t like her role on B&B but to give her credit she plays it well. Wish they would give her a timeout to come over to GH and reprise her role as Lois. Have been seeing her as a lawyer on reruns of NCIS. Again she’s great.
Yeah, she popped out of the cake at Katherine Bell’s birthday party. Both were married to Ned at the time, but Lois initially had no idea he had another wife, or even who his family was, as she only knew him by his rock star alias “Eddie Maine”.
Obviously the dragonshit hit the fan when this truth all came out.
Always happy to see Kim Delaney in any role but please do not bring her back as Jenny Gardner. That character was one of the most beloved heroines in AMC’s history and if the legendary Agnes Nixon chose not to bring her back before the series finale then there’s no way the GH scribes should.
I’d have rather seen her go to Y&R…M. Knight too!
Agreed!
M Knight was at Y&R as Simon, and they attempted to pair him with Ashley, but unfortunately that ended quickly, though it had major potential.
Only know Kim from primetime, so should be interesting. She could have been scooped up as a love interest for Jack on Y&R. What they are doing with Jack is beyond me…
” I do not know ” where’s the BUZZ on Micheal E. Knight… thankfully, he’s good in scenes w/Valentin.
When JASON had that biking accident… FB was ALL Abuzz… it was the 2nd coming resurge of MONICA son… REAL’ly
to no avail… as the majority of POSTS : WE HAVE NO FAITH in the writer(s)
when IS Mike going to die ! ENOUGH ! Frank Valentini !
DAG ! the one true thing @GH rebound. BRINGING BACK BRITA ! w/BFF Brad… could their be a connection between Britta AND Kim Delaney? you have to surround her with all around presence… A FORMER LOVER OF JULIAN ? come on! FRANK.. DREAM BIG WITH ADULT . SHE is the lover of Neil twin ???? LOL DREAM FRANK.
i truly don’t get how so many post @GH has one of the best cast… I don’t see it, rising up anywhere past the dullard script, to make any thing worth note
to no avail:
Sam has new lips and even tighter faux pas
Carly is one foot on the wrong track of Ferncliff Asylum
Sonny and Jason super sleuth STILL ?
Finn / Franco / Peter ? Jeezus.. how I want Frank Valentini to know he’s killed the genre
WHY NOT pair her up as someone from Valentin past? Jason Patrick Stuart has that embodiment of refined, comedic, dramatic flair… he’d meld with Ms. Delaney… let’s see a new dance pair… along with Britta AND Julian. Neil has a twin !?!? you ruined a potential pairing… I don’t give a rats ass if NLG is the performer of the week… for who? Sam ? Christ
So glad you see the comedic side of Valentin, Patrick—-we are of like-mind in this—-to moi, Valentin always has this sort of subdued, little smirk on his face—-as if he knows something about everything and everyone which no one else does. I think he’s hilarious—as dastardly as he is; I enjoy all his scenes….. unlike his partner in crime, Peter—-most boring, unattractive, bland actor as I’ve ever seen—-right up there with Justin, Michael and Cyrus; just to name a couple….
because I can pick =one= two, better
the savor smells bet..
it should be a treat to read that 4 shows. came back @the same time
new material
new change new material “all at once” WOW i’d REEL
I’m all for new material/change. Let’s start with giving Peter the boot. Such a useless character. But, if Alex comes back claiming Peter as her son, his face will continue to mar my screen. By the same token, he will leave with his new Mommy, Alex.
Nathan Parsons is returning to General Hospital as Ethan Lovett.
(he’s Holly’s brother??)
So— Holly will be back played by Kim Delaney..
giving Robert/Scorpion a great drama story..
It’s ridiculously obvious.. lol
Ethan is Holly’s son. Luke was supposedly his father, though the timeline making that possible was a ridiculous distortion that even ReRon’s idiotic FLuke storyline didn’t make a likely story.
The more logical course of action would have been for Robert to be his father, as Holly was actually pregnant with Robert’s baby when she supposedly died in a plane crash somewhere in Australia in 1987 or so.
I’m having a little problem with everyone thinking that Ethan came around in the Fluke story…Ethan came on GH 2009. Luke nicknamed him Dodger..Ethan wasn’t around during the Fluke days. He came back after that to rescue both his sons from Frank Smith.. This was during the time they rescued Jake..The last we heard of Ethan was when Holly took Ethan to the hospital cause Frank’s men shot him..
Ethan was around before the Fluke story, but they never bothered to explain exactly HOW Luke could have been his father until then. And ReRon wrote it as some dumb scenario where Luke went into one of his Fluke episodes and abandoned Laura & Lucky from where ever they were hiding out from Frank Smith’s mob at the time, so he could hook up with Holly… even though everybody in Port Charles believed her to be dead at the time.
Like most elements of the ClusterFluke story, it made zero sense. It would have fit the existing original storyline of the 80s much better to have the pregnant Holly survive the plane crash in the 80s, but be in a coma, so she would have no memories of Ethan’s birth when she eventually woke up. Ethan should have been a Scorpio… even if he took after his mother when it came to his “con man” instincts.
Holly miscarried Luke’s baby while he was missing in the mountains. She married Robert prior to losing the baby.
A major part of that storyline was Holly being told she couldn’t bear children, as was thus not pregnant at the time of the plane crash (otherwise referred to as the Dynasty years).
Flash forward to the creation of the Ethan character. Tony Geary did not have the bond with Greg Vaughn that he did with Jonathan Jackson. JFP and Guza created Ethan and shoe-horned him into the Luke/Holly background.
I think you’re right, Su000. Given how much I do NOT want her to be playing Holly, that’s probably exactly what they’re going to do.
I will say this much: if they really feel they need Holly and Emma Samms can’t come back for health reasons, then I agree that they need an actress of Delaney’s caliber (and star power) to have a chance in hell of making it work.
(But it won’t, because they will screw it up.)
Neil
I think Valentin played out Julian has to tbh but they are comical I think they both could be good friends with Lucy she’s funny as well as Scott they can all just hang out and dwell on their no love life.if they’re not gonna get rid of them.& i never thought or wanted Britt with Julian imo that matchup was just as bad as Ava & nikolas Michael & Sasha Dustin & lulu Anna & Finn Hayden & Finn Olivia & Justin Nina & Jax,’I’m a diehard JaSam fan that’s it..but I do like Michael & willow sorry chase..
Good, someone new!
They are not interested in writing for Becky one legacy character and has chemistry with a phone book. Not watched since March see I have not missed a dam thing!
Why are you wasting your time on this site?
Bring larry lau on with her!
So will she take the head nurse job or will she be a thorn in Cyrus’ side? Congrats “Jenny” for coming to General Hospital.
I loved Kim in Army Wives. She’s either the new head nurse or Ned’s exwife
Maybe she will be the new year nurse, probably a Nurse Ratchet if she was hired by Cyrus and the Britch.
Nurse Ratchet can’t come back! Ryan cut her head off and put it in the apple barrel a couple Helloweens ago!!
(She’s currently the triage nurse at St. Lucifer Hospital here in Hell)
I think she’s the new Head Nurse or Martin’s ex or both!!!
Well… word here in Hell is that Kim is going to be a recast of the long lost Jackie Templeton. Last seen around 1982 or so, if a Devil remembers correctly.
For those of you who weren’t around in those days, the original actress in that role was none other than Demi Moore. Presumably she turned down any invitations to come back, even though she’s been doing various TV appearances in recent years.
Not sure why this character’s coming out of the virtual storage locker after damn near 40 years, but apparently it’s going to have something to do with Lulu seeking out some help from “seasoned journalists” in her pursuit of a story on Cyrus the Virus. So why not call up one of her dad’s old friends (who she’s presumably never met)
Recast or not, there probably aren’t many people left in Port Charles that would remember Jackie. Aside from Robert Scorpio, of course. They were a “thing” for a while, before Robert’s “green card” marriage to Holly turned into the real thing.

Rosie O’Donnell Says She Will Return to ‘The View’ During its Season 30

Rosie O’Donnell revealed that she plans to head back to a seat at the table of ABC’s morning talk show The View.
The announcement came during Monday’s episode of The Tangle Podcast where she shared she will participate in “in whatever way they want” her or “just as a guest” for its upcoming 30th season.
The View’s season 30 will kick-off this fall in September. O’Donnell explained, “They’re bringing back all the hosts, I think. And, you know, I’m pretty proud of that show, what it’s become and how it really speaks to the people and to politics.”

ROSIE ON HER PREVIOUS GO-ROUNDS ON THE VIEW
As fans of The View know, O’Donnell famously had two different one-year stints on the talk show in 2007 and again in 2014- 2015. She often feuded with then co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck.
However, during her discussion with host, Kyle Ridley on The Tangle Podcast, O’Donnell also noted she often had tense moments with longtime moderator and anchor, Whoopi Goldberg.
O’Donnell also expressed, “Many, many people got the short end of the stick there. It was, you know, it was a factory where people were being churned in and out and their tenuous security, nobody got to be calm. It also was a show at the time that was run by a man. A show created by a woman, for women, about women, and the man was deciding what we should talk about. And that didn’t sit right with me, you know.”
Back in 2023, Brooke Shields had asked Rosie on her podcast, Now What? with Brooke Shields, about how she felt on her two stints at The View and all the controversy that surrounded it. Rosie at that time, stated, “I know this, it’s not the best use of my talent to get in a show where I have to argue and defend basic principles of humanity and kindness. It was not something I’d ever do again.”
You can check out the clip with Rosie and Kyle Ridley discussing her return to The View in some form for its upcoming 30th season below.
Then weigh-in: Would you be excited to see Rosie, even for a one-day or a week guest stint on the upcoming celebratory season of The View, or not so much? Let us know via the comment section.

Television Academy and NATAS Open Reunification Talks After Split Almost 50 Years Ago

In what could prove to be a massive shake-up ahead, both the TV Academy (ATAS), who presides over the Primetime Emmys, and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), who preside over the Daytime Emmys, are in exploratory reunification discussions to merge the two organizations into one.
Both sides received an overwhelming vote and support from their boards to evaluate what a unified Academy could look like. However there is no formal calendar at this juncture for the discussions. In addition, because of the ongoing unification talks that should occur, the TV Academy board has voted to extend all current sitting Governors’ terms by one year so they can see the process through.
Boards at both organizations voted overwhelmingly to evaluate what a unified Academy could make possible: a strong vision for the Academy’s future, more effective thought leadership for the industry, broader service and support for members coast-to-coast, and new momentum and opportunities across the full complement of national Emmy competitions.

AFTER NEARLY 50 YEARS, CAN THE EMMYS BE UNDER ONE BANNER?
In a joint statement, ATAS and NATAS shared, “Television remains the most powerful medium we have to shape culture and prompt conversations that define us—no matter the size of the screen, With the business of television undergoing such a monumental transformation, this is the right moment to explore a reunification of our Academies, providing our members and our industry with a bolder voice advocating for them and a stronger partner to navigate the future with them.”
If the reunification talks continue, this would be the first time since the two Emmy organizations split back on June 30, 1977 that they have tried to come together, all of this after almost three decades of often uneasy and strained tension between the two.
The most recent joint change came in 2022 when a move of the game show categories went from NATAS to ATAS’ and now are in the Primetime Emmys.
Deadline notes that a unification of the two television academies who overall preside over nighttime and daytime programming would be similar how SAG and AFTRA used to represent performers from completely different dayparts of work.
Could the Daytime Emmys finally see some love in primetime and have their major categories televised as part of the annual kudofest every September? Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will take place live on Monday, September 14th starting at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT and air on NBC and stream on Peacock emanating from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. While, the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards will take place on Friday, October 30, time to be announced, live from the Hollywood Palladium and will be streamed on watchtheemmys.tv
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) is a service organization dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry. It recognizes excellence in television with the coveted Emmy Awards for News & Documentary, Sports, Daytime and Children’s & Family programming, as well as achievements in television Technology & Engineering.
The Television Academy (ATAS) strives to shape and advance the dynamic television landscape; cultivate a diverse, inclusive and accessible professional community; and advocate for the television industry while capturing the spirit of a new generation of content creators and industry professionals. Through innovative programs, publications and events, the Academy and its Foundation foster and empower storytellers. The Academy also celebrates those who excel in the industry recognizing their achievements through awards and accolades, including the renowned Emmy Award. Membership in the Academy is open to working professionals in the television industry.
So, would you like to see the Primetime Emmy and the Daytime Emmys fold into one show if the two unions reached a unification arrangement? Do you hope that after almost 50 years, the two organizations can finally make some serious headway? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
