Here is some news that will come to the delight of many General Hospital fans! The beautiful Kodi Kitchen has been pink-slipped from General Hospital taking her character, Dr. Maggie with her!
Soap Opera Digest’s columnist, Carolyn Hinsey was first to report the news by tweeting, ” Kodi Kitchen (Maggie) has been let go from GH. Guess the big “Secret in Memphis” is that A-list characters rule on the new GH. #waytogoFrank!”
Now that Maggie won’t be around to cause trouble for Steven Webber or potentially even be a love-match with grieving Dr. Patrick Drake, her ill-conceived character can’t do much damage to the canvas, or at least, we hope not! With Maggie, and also the Woman In White’s departure this week, that should give hope to those not digging their stories that the new head writer, Ron Carlivati and executive producer, Frank Valentine are looking to perk up the show, not drag it down!

Sonny neede to be shown the door a decade ago! And he can take anyone from Bensonhurst with him, especially his wishy washy son Dante.

I’m a BIG GH fan, but never had a favorite abc soap. All of them, depending on storyline have been my favorite at one time or another. But I’m starting to agree with the bashes of GH on the site, GH needs a complete over-haul.

Yes Gh needs a tune-up with their storyline!!!!!!!!! Tired of Sonny’s mob conections & getting shot , so many times I lost count… GH should get back to the stories of the good old days..When Anna ,Robert, Luke were working together as a team…And Holly.. There was back tha Shawn Doneely but he was shipped out to a hospital in some foreign country.. He neede special care..He never came back.. I miss the Webber’s…Luke & Laura…Remember Dr. Hardy, Jessie & her sister Luiclle….Scotty & his father Lee Baldwin… That’s when GH was SMOKIN!!!!!!!!!!!! They need to get back to those kind of stories….Blast from the past!!!!!!!!!Put on more pleasant stories.. Cut down on these mob stuff & revenge, shootem-up stories…Then the ratings would sky rocket !!!!!!!!!!!
You know what abc, you are correct. There were times in my 35 years of watching soaps that I stopped watching a soap for awhile due to their storylines. I didn’t watch OLTL straight thru. I came back and forth with them until the last 7 years.
So I will agree with you. Which ever soap is the most interesting!

and you cannot go back to the old days of gh, fans need to except maurice benard is the main one people tune into to see everyday he must be doing something right
and you need to except that Sonny isn’t all that. Less than 3 million viewers tune in “to see Sonny everyday” compared to 10 million viewers that tuned in during GH’s hayday long before Stumpy’s name was ever even mentioned.
I love Maurice, love love him. I agree with the fans on here, the mob stuff is over kill, and not just that- the writer’s over kill Bernard with learning so many lines EVEN stuff that’s not mob related. They could be doing more with the mystic of the character of Sonny, and Maurice has the charisma to pull anything off. With eyes like Maurice, we the fans should almost be begging to see more of him. Keep some of the mystery of the character and the man, Maurice Benard.

as much as I am mad at sonny all the time ,HE STAYS,there is no way he should go ,non of the cast you said should go ,also I love anthony ,he has a way with words ,the mob stories should be toned down a bit ,alot and the quartermaines should be brought back ,along with anna, lauria,and a few more ,because all these bad guys will be a big part of the reason my john mcbain is staying in port charles,the pcpd is wishy washy and john mcbain will change that.hey,danti is fair at least he tries to be.all the mob guys have to stay ,they just all need new jobs now.

megan ward, thats her name ,I liked her, she left and never came back ,why did she leave?nicki,,I know I keep saying this ,Am I the only one here that likes anthony?hes funny ,keeps beautiful flowers ,he has a way with words ,every time he is on i enjoy his acting ,he acts good with everyone and always has something of interest to say ,anthony has to stay,so he can continue to make me laugh.anthony,tracy ,and luke are funny,general hospital needs alot of comedy to mix up with the drama ,thats what made one life to live a pleasure to watch,there was always a smile between the heartache.
Kate and Maxie both need to go. Kelly Sullivan is doing a horrible job with this story. They need to bring Vanessa back for Maurice. This show ending without Sonny and Brenda and fixing what they did to them would be absolutely outrageous. They are the history couple, the super couple. Sonny and Kate don’t even come close. By far, Sonny’s worst pairing.

Got to tell you Christi, you are SPOT on in this post. Carly the character has NO BUSINESS with Johnny, because she has divorced her children from Sonny to keep them safe too many times. Therefore, why is she around Johnny who is dangerous, what about her daughter? BAD idea for the writer’s to put them together.
I HATE Kate. They have to POUR MAKE-UP on her face for her to be pretty. She and the new Maxie both have big eyes, but the new Maxie is pretty.

That’s 8 altogether, dead beat character’s. I didn’t include Maxi because the actress isn’t coming right now, and so that character is PIVITOL in Port Charles and the Scorpio family. And until the old Maxi comes back, let’s face it, we are not going to be HAPPY with anyone they use as a FILL in. * But this Maxi has been giving it ALL she’s got, playing Maxi with the same energy and zest, and ” almost ” sound. Therefore, she doesn’t make my 9TH person on your CHOPPED LIST.

I never like to see anyone canned, however I am over Kate. That character did nothing for me from Kate 1.0 to Kate 2.0. History should have never been rewritten. Kelly Sullivan, and Laura Wright are my two preference to go next..

Re-writing Sonny’s history, erasing Brenda who is the love of his life, is reprehensible to this 20 year viewer. Kate’s fake history and supposed connection to Sonny is based in nothing. They need to bring back Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo as Brenda!!

Brenda when she first came on, her beauty alone was breath taking.
However, everyone grows over time. On her last visit, she lost her looks, and she behaved like a 14 year old. No wonder Sonny didn’t get on the plane with her.

She was breath taking…. what happened? Do you remember before she actually aired, and was just taping, and they showed it on abc.com, her face was like simeze. Then it got better (guess she had work and swelling was promiment). But she did act like a 14 year old and didn’t stop until maybe 3 months before she left. And we talking about HER ACTING which was HER DECISION to play it like that. She wouldn’t dress and look sexy, and if she did dress somewhat, it was with the same pattern of clothes she had been wearing: black paints, white shirt. The only difference is, she would put on heals. She didn’t down play that she had lost some of her beauty. She could of made up more…. It was horrendous! I stated last week, that Brenda needs to come back and do that role justice, even if that means 2 days a week, (while doing her other projects-she’s not that busy). And should she get a long term job elsewhere…., she can shoot scenes in advance, OR they can use Hannah (Johnathan Jackson’s wife) who use to play opposite Sonny, and was a Brenda lookalike. They could use Hannah /Lisa Vultaggio in scenes shot FAR DISTANCE-showing Sonny meeting Brenda in a restaurant for dinner, or having the actress waiting in bed for him, or shower scenes, and she talking to him, but no close up shot. That way Venesa Marcil get’s the time she needs to do whatever….., and the fans get a well written, REALISTIC, storyline with Sonny and Brenda… That’s if Lisa Vultaggio would be willing to do this, if not there are other look alikes out her. I’m a damn lookalike.. LOL

Yes granted Brenda was written terribly the last time around. I think any one can see that. But just cuz you maynot like the character don’t make Kelly Sullivan’s acting any less bad! Her acting stinks! Now I’m sure the woman is a nice person but ratings don’t lie and they dipped even more since she was brought on. I don’t blame it completely on her but she is indeed a fraction of what’s wrong.
And VMG is just as beautiful as she ever was. Inside as well as out . Know This, she will be back on the show – Brenda ALWAYS comes back and if you knew your history you will know that. She’ll probably be back sooner than ppl know. :))

As for her and Sonny, really was their chemistry? They hardly ever showed love scenes and when they did, it was usually AFTER they did it.

Paris…Congrats on you watching GH for 20 years. I have watched it for 35 years. I know history. Where did I state I didn’t like the character of Brenda? I HATED the character of Dorian Lord. YET she is one of the best daytime actors there was. I know the difference!
I simply pointed out some truths. One, she is NOT as gorgeous as she once was. Her stringy high school hair, her ‘forever 21’ wardrobe, the snorting while laughing, her maturity level – All strikes against her.
She is in her 40’s, yet they portrayed her with the mentality of a 14 year old.
Comparing Brenda to NuKate, imo is hilarious. Though YOU may not like the character of Kate, I do. I think she is a great actress. Talented is the word I will choose.
I watch TV for entertainment. So I appreciate good acting when I see it.
Brenda had looks and some acting ability back in the day. This time around she did not. And yes, she had too much work done on her face. It looks terrible.

Sorry to say this because I don’t wish anyone to be unemployed… but I am not liking this Kate/Connie possible DID storyline at all. I know that RC knows how to write it…but it is just not happening for me and while Kelly is probably very talented I am not believing or caring about it and would not mind seeing Kate go away and if she comes back have her come back as Megan Ward and do the Devil Wears Prada thing more with Maxie and LuLu. Plus I would like to see Sonny and Olivia get together.
Maybe Dr. Keenan could take Kate away to a clinic around the world.
I also would really like to see TJ go back where he came from. There are so many other wonderful ways to write for Molly without trashing her with TJ.
Anthony Z would be very nice to have slip away for an extended leave of absence.
Delores could track a lead on her sisters case in NYC and exit.

I totally agree with you. I love Kelly Sullivan, she is a powerhouse actress, but I dont care for the Kate storyline. I also think that the Ewan, Delores, Shawn and TJ characters are not necessary. I would love to see Olivia with Sonny (eventually) and I think that Steve Webber’s time is just about up too unless they come up with some interesting storyline that includes his sister Liz and his Mom Heather. I would also like to see Matt get a storyline outside of Maxi as well. I also think that Johnny should be with someone closer to his age, like lets say Kristina or Brooklyn. I personally think we need to see more core family characters return like Ned, Dillon or Brooklyn Quartermaine or Kristina Corinthos, Morgan Corinthos or Rick Lansing. I think the key to success is using the vets and investing in the core families, Quartermaines, Webbers, Spencers & yes even the Corinthos.

I agree with Lisa. Sullivan hadn’t even worked in soaps before GH, and I will never understand how she got this role, other than perhaps she was cheaper to hire than Ward was to keep. Calling her “a powerhouse” is like calling cubic zirconia the Hope Diamond, and yes, it certainly is insulting to those in the genre who can actually act.

I was anticipating a hook up down the road between her and Patrick. I personally didn’t dislike her or her character like some new characters on soaps. But if it comes down to having a new character or favorites back, the answer gets simple. Just wish soaps weren’t in a time where it has to be one or the other. Wish the genre could still bring new faces in from time to time while giving us the dose we want of the favorites– but those days are gone.

I do not like the new Kate, and whatever stupid “secret” she is hiding. The new Maxie is growing on me. I would love to see Frisco come back and also Ned. (Get him back with Alexis). Hope GH survives. I refuse to watch The Chew or The Revolution, and DEFINITELY will not watch Katie Couric.

Okay, first they need to bring back Kristina and the actress who was last playing her. They need to work on keeping Ethan, because dammit he’s freaking hot. Maxie needs to go away for a while till Kirsten can play her again, I like Matt, but not w/ Elizabeth, she needs to be w/ Jason even if its in a Triangle storyline. hello, thats what soaps are all about. They need to put Finola on contract and have her kick some ass, don’t mind the current oltl transplant but for now lets keep it minimum, and more GH vets guest starting, cause I know not everyone who comes back can be put on contract. Oh and also, please update to opening credits, and just a suggestion, but I think it would be awesome if GH showed vets like Emma Samms, Finola Hughes and Tristan Rogers( all who are consider superstars in this medium )the kind of respect they gave a non soap superstar i.e James Franco , the Special Guest Star credit, I personally think they’ve earn that status, and Soaps need to show respect to their own stars.
I just started watching GH again because of the OLTL additions. I don’t buy the new Maxie or this Kate…..but I am not familiar with the old one either. I am bored to tears by Jason and Sam. To me they are the worst part of this show. I am loving that Luke, Robert, and Anna, Tracy, Edward, and even Holly have all been on . This feels like classic GH to me. I have been impressed by the characters of Patrick, Johnny, Carly, Epiphany, and Michael. I am not a Sonny either, never liked the constant focus on mob violence, but am looking forward to seeing his scenes with Todd and Blair. Kristen Alderson rocked as Starr……I am so looking forward to her story and how Michael is tied into it. the show needs more comedy….the only character that can make me laugh and has the comedic talents seems to be Tracy. I hope to see more Qs every day so there can be some light with all this dark.
How is Maggie leaving? Is she to be AXED as the next murder victim? The character was never developed beyond sharing a secret with Steven so nobody will miss her (the actress who played her was fine). I am curious if any character can leave GH without being killed.

Did’nt like the new Kate at all! I like Elizabeht they need to give her a better storyline. Getting a little tired of the whole mob storyline..need to change it. Can’t wait for The storyline with the Mannings and John to start to develop. Longtime fan of all three soaps and we need to support GH along with the crossovers!

On my list with someone’s else’s list above, I reconsidered getting rid of Shawn because I said, Jason needed a partner in crime. You make allot of sense where Shawn is concerned, bc he is interesting, but when U see him chasing behind Carly with no real storyline, then he finds himself on everyone’s Chopped list. Because you pointed out ( finding it degrading of him to be begging ) I’m going to be paying closer attention to him in the storyline.

Hoping that Ron and Frank will use this exits creatively as they did with Cassandra/Irina to bring back Luke and Holly. Maybe Maggie’s secret in Memphis is that she’s taking care of Steven’s mother Heather?
I am ready for Delores to be gone also. Just too many newbies being rammed down our throats when the core cast was being pushed to the background. There are plenty of cast that could be used for storyline purposes. And the new Kate?! Never liked the original, but if Kate was brought on to bring in the Falconeris, then her purpose has been served and Kate can go. If Ewen is around to be a Lucky replacement so be it, but I feel there are plenty of single men on GH that could be used for the same situation. Do you see a pattern? You bring in new characters for an easy fix, than using the core characters and keeping them happy with storylines. That is where the writing staff went wrong with GH. Let’s hope the new regime ‘gets it’ – get rid of the newbies and let the core cast have a storyline! (I am asking for a Dante and Lulu storyline – they get married, then we never see them! Are you kidding me?! They are legacy characters who have plenty to tell!)

Im a new viewer, I actually like the character and the actresses that play Kate and Maxie but they do look very similar and at first I was getting confused.

Laura Wright won a frickin Emmy and is also an outstanding actress. I also like the temp Maxie just as much as I like Kirsten. I do think they need to get rid of Anthony though and give Johnny something other to do that the mob stuff.

I’m new to GH, though I kinda know what’s happening through web sites and SOD/SOW. Naturally, I am delighted with and wait with great anticipation for the OLTL characters to come on. I was impressed by the way Starr will be incorporated. Bold move. The actor who plays Michael does a wonderful job. I fast forward through Sonny and Kate ~ anything Kate. Don’t like Maxie and wasn’t impressed by Patrick in the scenes leading up to Robin’s death. We’ll see how he does in the aftermath. However, I am rivieted by anyting with Luke, “the Doger”, Dante, Michael, Tracy, Epiphany, Anna, Mac, Robert, Holly, and Helena. Spenelli is different, but haven’t seen enough of him, Matt, Johnny, Monica or Olivia to form an opinion. With such a huge cast, I guess that’s true with a number of actors on GH. We’ll see. I like Carly, though I may be a little bias since I watched her on GL. Sam and Jason…don’t really care one way or the other. However, Sams’ tiff with Carly was brilliant, so I’d like to see more of that. That’s just this new-comer’s opinion.
Should GH continue Rodd, whether its Kate or someone else, Ron likes writing duo personalities. For some reason, they were popular for OLTL. I never liked them. Going back years I would tune out while some storylines played out about all the personalities.

As I said above, you’re certainly entitled to your opinion, and there’s no accounting for taste, but VMG indicated long ago that she WILL be back. People are inclined to take her word over yours, so perhaps you should “get over it.” Furthermore, Sullivan’s portrayal of Kate has done zilch to raise ratings, even with her acting opposite Benard, while Sonny and Brenda’s wedding sent ratings through the roof. That speaks volumes to me about which couple has more chemistry and which acting duo is better.
I don’t think Sonny & Kate are the ‘IT’ couple. That far I won’t go.
What I am saying is I like Kates acting. IMO she is gorgeous as well.
As for Sonny, the only love of his life (for those of you who have watched GH for many years) is himself.

every time I come here I read all the different people who want alot of the characters to go ,I hear carly ,liz .sonny,jason,sam danti kate ,maxi,even spinellie ,I dont get it,why,there all a part of port charles if your going to do that you might as well forget about general hospital,I have a problem with the newbees I can understand them being shown the way out the door ,but not the characters that have been on forever,if you do that ,general hospital is done with ,I hate sonny ,dont like jason,but I dont want them gone.lets get rid of the newbes but you cant wipe out the whole cast,doesnt make sense there are always a few you dont like ,but thats what makes the stories interesting,at least for me.

Let me hope I can explain this. The man I LOVED so hard at one time, long time ago, is no longer the same man. Nor am I the same women. Unless 2 people work and grow together, things change.
When Brenda came back this past time, I saw a child. A women who regressed into a child. Not a grown women. The giggling, snorting, long sleeves, skipping was juvenille.
I LOVED Brenda back in the day. But that day is over.

I would love to see Roxy (Ilene Kristen) work at Kelly’s. Sonny’s dad Michael Sr (Ron Hale). use to work there and they both use to be on “Ryan’s Hope”. So it would be a cool nod. Also, Roxy is like “Aunt Ruby” back in the day, fiesty, a tell it like it is kinda broad. Luke would like Roxy and her Roxy-isms. Roxy could have a romance too. Good comedic injections.

Starr can go, she is not needed. You can find ” that type of character ” on any soap opera. Starr is not a Roxy, Vicky, Opal, a Spenelli…. character’s that are irreplaceable bc of the type of content they put out.

Nomatter how she ages, or has aged or anything she may or may not have done to her face, I will always love her because I remember her HUGE contribution she bought to the table as BRENDA. I dont care how she protrayed Brenda this time around, but that DOESN’T negate her contributions in the past and her legacy to the character and the show. PERIOD.
I dont know what happened this time with her dressing, that laugh, or any of the rest. (I’m not sure about snorkling). It seemed odd bc when you listened to her in REAL LIFE interviews she has MATURED into a certified adult, speaks with vision and pursue’s interest of humanity, and helping people with her own charity. So I don’t know what the Spin on her protrayal was this time. Maurice Benard said in an interview they were so in sync, they could finish one another’s sentences in rehearsal’s, and knew the other’s thoughts. So, that’s a mystery, none of us can come up with the answer for, as to why she was protrayed this way. But again, as I have said this about Oprah, ‘ just because something is happening now that we “don’t agree” with OR like, that doesn’t NEGATE what the person has done over’all…’ Ok, her protrayal wasn’t the finest this time; the writer’s bare part of the responsibiltiy. But Venesa Marcil is an award winning actress in daytime, proven herself in primetime and movies, and NEVER ever… plays the same “adoring ” part, patronizing her beauty. That woman is STILL stunning dispite whatever…. and is more attractive than most on daytime. If Venesa lost her beauty as Debi stated, then Blair certainly lost her’s. People aren’t bashing Kassie, and it in NO WAY EVER compared to Venesa’s beauty. If they wanted him off the show, Sonny WOULD have gone with her. Noone can compare Kate to Brenda in terms of love with Sonny OR beauty. And I’m not being bias, becaue I didn’t like the other Kate for Sonny either. Any (type) actress opposite Maurice Benard does not compliment him. It takes a special type-she doesn’t have to be the most beautiul like Venesa, Laura Wright, or the Hannah character, but she has do have something RARE about her ( IF ) she isn’t. Sarah Brown I hated opposite Maurice, but one couldn’t deny she” brought it ” and was a “power house” opposite him, and “same ” with 2nd Carly, Tamara Braun. Venesa and Laura Wright have the best of BOTH, opposite Maurice Benard. U have to have one, the other or both, opposite him. This Kate and the previous Kate brings nothing extra-ordinar, OPPOSITE this complex character and actor. They, nor some of the (others) didn’t compliment him as a couple. I’m buying no magazine with them on the Cover, that’s for sure. Bring on Olivia, or Claire (loved her flirtatious scenes with him, plus she could hold her own in battle) or reunite Sonny with Carly, until Brenda returns for her man.

I watched her on a talk show shorty after she left GH, and she looked healthier and behaved her age. What a difference that made.
Anyway, for me Sonny & Carly are NO longer the supercouple they were back in the day.
Should she come back to GH I am sure it will be very temporary. Who knows, maybe she would come to her bff’s funeral??? Wouldn’t you all be excited then.

Adam Huss Makes Another Return to General Hospital as Nikolas Cassadine
Nikolas Cassadine will be back on your screens next week but now via Pentonville. That means, that actor Adam Huss is back for a visit for all-new episodes of General Hospital.
In story, Ava (Maura West) comes to visit her ex in the slammer. So, just what does Ava want now? She clearly has been working an agenda on Sonny (Maurice Benard). Is she working with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart)? What will she tell Nikiolas? stay tuned.
Meanwhile, once news of Huss’ return broke earlier on Friday via Soap Opera Digest, he also announced his return on his Instagram expressing, “For all those who’ve been asking, cat’s out of the bag;) Thank you to all my #Nikolas #GH fans for your unwavering support. I don’t take it for granted for a second! (Even when I can’t answer 😊) #generalhospital”

Huss took over the role of Nikolas back in January of 2023, after Marcus Coloma left the soap opera. Previous to that, Huss filed in for Coloma in September of 2021 and November of 2022. Fast-forward to January of 2024, Nikolas gave Ace to Laura and Kevin to raise, while he eventually turned himself into the police for kidnapping Esme and keeping her hostage while she was pregnant and Wyndemere.

The return of Huss comes on the heels of multiple reports that his on-screen son, Nicholas Chavez is not returning to the show as Spencer Cassadine, while in story Spencer is believed to have drowned int the Seine River after falling off a boat in France, when drugged by Esme.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Sonny and Jason Trade Threats on Each Other
The love affair that once was mobster Sonny (Maurice Benard) and hit man Jason (Steve Burton), and having each others back, is now apparently over! On the Thursday April 25th episode of General Hospital, an increasingly paranoid Sonny is confronted by Jason.
Jason wants to talk to Sonny about a “family matter”, but Sonny says they aren’t family now because he’s working with the Feds. Sonny goes on to say how he cannot trust Carly (Laura Wright) or Jason and he knows about Jason buying back the Metro Court for Carly from Nina (Cynthia Watros).
When the conversation turns to Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Dex (Evan Hofer), Jason informs Sonny that Kristina (Kate Mansi) knows Sonny ordered a hit. Jason is worried about Dex’s safety. He tells Sonny that if he does something to Dex, Kristina will figure out that he is responsible.

Sonny goes on to say how much he loves his kids and how he will protect them. He then tears into Jason for abandoning his sons, Danny and Jake, for two years and how he has no right to stand there to tell him what to do.
Jason warns Sonny again to leave Dex alone or he’ll personally stop him. Sonny snaps at Jason, countering, “You’ll die trying!” And at that point, Jason walks out and Sonny slams the door behind him.

REPORT: Nicholas Chavez Not Returning to General Hospital
For those who were holding out hope that Daytime Emmy winner and fan favorite, Nicholas Chavez would be returning to General Hospital after filming his leading role in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters anthology, it looks like those hopes have been dashed.
According to a report from TV Line, although unconfirmed from General Hospital or a representative for Chavez, the actor will not reprise his role as Spencer Cassadine on the long-running ABC soap opera and continue the love story of Sprina opposite Tabyana Ali (Trina, GH).
Chavez was cast as Lyle Menendez over the the summer of 2023 for the second season of Murphy’s limited Monsters series on Netflix. In the upcoming season, the series will focus on the the case of Lyle and Erik Menendez, the two well-to-do Beverly Hills brothers accused of murdering their parents in 1989.

After word from Chavez casting was revealed, GH fans were concerned over the fate of the Sprina story, a spokesperson for GH shared, “We support Nicholas’ endeavors and look forward to having him return to General Hospital once this project is wrapped.”
In story, the series “killed off” Spencer when he went overboard with Esme to the steely waters below after being injected with a drug, thanks to Esme and falling into the Seine River in France. However, his body was never recovered, and believed to have drowned or washed away. Thus, leaving an opening for Spencer to return in the form of Chavez or be recast down the line.

TV Line shared that ‘multiple sources’ are confirming that Chavez is not returning to the ABC soap opera, which is what many had suspected might be the case once he left for this major starring role in a Ryan Murphy project. Chavez has been relatively quiet on social media for months.

No word yet on when Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story will debut on Netflix, but it is assumed later this year.
