New General Hospital Promo: Jake Says To Sam: "Can You Help Me Find Out Who I Really Am?"

ABC has released its latest promo for the action this week in Port Charles.
Top among the storyline themes finds Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) trying on her wedding headdress in her mirror and saying, “This is really happening!” As Liz is psyched for her upcoming wedding to Jake (Billy Miller), it looks like it may set up a race against time. That’s because from the the looks of the promo Jake had now asked Sam (Kelly Monaco) to help him figure out who he truly is! In it, he phones Sam and asks for her help.
Will Sam ultimately be the person to out Elizabeth and Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) for keeping the secret of his Jake’s true identity? We know that it seems that Sam will enlist Spinelli to help her crack this mystery with the return of Bradford Anderson.
Meanwhile, Laura (Genie Francis) knows the truth about Jake, and Hayden (Rebecca Budig) is trying to piece together what happened before she was shot. Sonny (Maurice Benard) is also featured in the promo yelling at his sons: Michael (Chad Duell) and Morgan (Bryan Craig) for getting involved in mob business with the five families.

RATINGS: ‘General Hospital’ Shows Most Gains in Total Viewers Week-Over-Week and Up in Key Demo
The ratings are out for the week of August 24-28 for your favorite broadcast television soaps, and it was ABC’s General Hospital which added the most total viewers and planted itself firmly in third place in its battle with Beyond the Gates in the key demos of women 18-49 and 25-54.
According to Soap Opera Network, all daytime dramas were up year-over-year, and General Hospital was joined by The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful with gains in their total audience viewership, while Beyond the Gates was only slightly off pace for the ratings week.
Let’s take a look at what had viewers tuning-in, starting with General Hospital, who added +79,000 viewers. While still under the 2 million viewers mark (which they can hopefully return in the coming weeks) their overall tally was an average of 1, 935,000 tuning-in, while still up year-to-year +136,000.
GENERAL HOSPITAL
In addition, GH while actually down from the previous week in the 18-49 ratings share, they still out performed Beyond the Gates for third place. However, GH was firmly in third place for the 25-54 ratings share.
The stories that were featured for the week included: Anna’s (Finola Hughes) PTSD and struggle with painful memories tied to Cesar Faison, and her concocting a plan to get rid of Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) recording Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) threatening her, and later running into a severe threat from Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) regarding Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) and Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) shooting, and Drew enlisting Ava (Maura West) to gain leverage over Jack, which resulted in Ava drugging him, while Drew went snooping for the evidence Brennan had against him.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS
Y&R remained in the top spot amongst all the soaps once again with 3,062,000 tuning in, and up +35,000 for the week, while year-to-year still showing strong gains at +231,000 viewers. However, while Y&R remained #1 for the 25-54 ratings share, it fell to #2 in the 18-49 ratings share behind The Bold and the Beautiful.
In story for the week, Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) sobriety in rehab was a focus, as was Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) hitting the Jabot office couch and having sex for the first time, and Lily (Christel Khalil) and Billy (Jason Thompson) battling over control and ownership of Chancellor Industries.

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL
B&B is continuing to be inch closer to Y&R for the top spot, separated by a little more than 300,000 viewers. For the ratings week, the series posted a total audience of 2,719,000 adding +31,000 eyeballs overall, and like Y&R, is up year-to-year in its performance.
The CBS soap now , now in its 40th season is +217,000 from the same time last year. In the key demos, The Bold and the Beautiful was in the top spot for the women 18-49 ratings share and number two for women 25-54.
In story, the major threat to Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Finn (Tanner Novlan) and Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) and Daphne’s (Murielle Hilaire) marriages continued as Steffy and Carter swore they would not tell their spouses that the two had a drunken hook-up. But as viewers know now, Steffy is pregnant!

BEYOND THE GATES
Beyond the Gates tallied an average of 1,611,000 total viewers for the week, up +72.000 year-over-year and down slightly in tune-in for the week losing just -36,000 viewers. The CBS soap came in fourth place in the key demos for the week behind General Hospital, with whom they are often trading places for the third spot.
In story, after Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) was released from the hospital, Hayley (Marquita Goings) stuck to her plan, doubling down on poisoning him and even getting caught in a major lie or meeting with Randy (Maurice P. Kerry), as Vernon (Clifton Davis) may be on to her machinations.

Kelly Sullivan Gives High Praise to ‘General Hospital’s’ Maura West Recalling When Ava Shot Connie (Exclusive)
It was just over 13 years ago on General Hospital when Ava Jerome (Maura West) shot and killed Kate Howard/Connie Falconeri (Kelly Sullivan) in an effort to keep her quiet from revealing that Derek Wells was actually Ava’s back-from-the-dead brother, Julian Jerome (William deVry). It’s a crime that somehow Ava never has quite paid for either.
The episode back aired on August 13, 2013 and viewers had to say goodbye to Kelly Sullivan who played Kate and her alter, Connie. In the story, just before she died, Kate/Connie scrawled the letters AJ in her own blood, initially making the PCPD and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) think that it was AJ Quatermaine (Sean Kanan) who did the deed.
Now, Sullivan recalled sharing scenes with the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning West, during a live conversation on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel. Kelly was the special guest talking about her recent return to the soaps in her new role as The Bold and the Beautiful’s Darcy Dylan.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF MAURA WEST
Speaking of her final GH scenes and working with Maura West, Sullivan gave her then GH co-star major props. “If you’re going to be shot by somebody (on the soaps), you want to be shot by Maura West, c’mon!”
Maura West debuted back in May 2013 as Ava, and Sullivan remembered when the As the World Turns favorite began on GH. “I remember when Maura West first arrived at GH. She walked in with this cute little bob (hairdo) and she’s just delicious,” shared Sullivan.
A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE
Kelly revealed more about Maura, adding “I think she’s amazing! I remember right before I left the show, someone suggested, and I would still love to do this with her, if she ever want to, but someone suggested that they wanted to direct the stage play A Streetcar Named Desire with Maura and I, where I would play Stella and she would play Blanche! Wouldn’t that be great?”
Speaking of the Ava/Connie showdown scenes, Sullivan expressed, “On television and on General Hospital specifically, Maura West is able to play a character who does the most horrendous things and you still care about her and that’s the mark of a really great actor. In other words, you’re able to be liked in the midst of the most horrendous things, and as a performer not shying away from that, and to just have the courage to do what’s on the page (in the script).”

Kelly also shared her sentiments when she walked off the set of General Hospital after her run back in August of 2013. “I really was honored. Every day I would go to work and I would say a little prayer, which is I want to do justice for my character, explained Kelly. “It’s between me and my character. I get to walk this path with her and to leave the show on that note, which is, I left every out there. I just gave it my all and again what an honor it was to play Kate/Connie.”

The question of will Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) stay awhile at General Hospital after his recent extended hiatus from the show earlier this year, has reportedly been answered.
TMZ via court documents obtained in Burton’s ongoing legal battle with his ex-wife Sheree Gustin, shared that Steve actually inked a new three year deal with the ABC soap opera back in June.
That is significant because it was June when Burton returned back to work as Jason. In addition, the court filing confirmed that Burton had already moved back to California from Tennessee.

STEVE’S HIATUS AND HIS RETURN TO PORT CHARLES
GH fans will recall, it was back in February of 2026, that Burton announced via his Instagram that he was stepping away from his role of Jason Morgan for short break and pointed to wanting to spend quality time with his new wife, Michelle Lundstrom Burton with whom he tied the knot back on May 17, 2025.
Steve expressed at that time, “I’m newly married and looking forward to spending some quality time with my family.” It was back on March 25 that viewers saw Jason carted away by the WSB after taking the fall for Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) who shot then WSB Director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).
Burton returned to work on June 1, and due to General Hospital taping roughly six weeks ahead of air, made his on-screen comeback on the July 13 episode.
GOING FOR GOLD AT THE UPCOMING DAYTIME EMMYS
Then, Steve and his enduring fans got an extra special treat on the same day, when it was revealed on Extra that he was nominated for the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Daytime Drama Series category.
Steve previously won in the Supporting Actor category for his work as General Hospital’s Jason in 1998 and as The Young and the Restless’ Dylan McAvoy in 2018.
Now with Jason and Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) relationship seemingly hitting the skids, plus Jason’s commitment to staying out of mob life to focus on being present for his son Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn), what does the future hold for the fan favorite character? Stay tuned.

Have always thought that Spinelli would have a hand in finding out, would really love for Sam , Spinelli and Jake to find out together.
I think Sam will find out who Jake really is just before his wedding with Liz . Or it could be right after the vows are spoken & than the wedding would be nulled because he is already married !!
now we really know jake is jason with brain damage, i mean asking sam to help him solve or figure out who he is, Sam hasn’t ever solved any case, these two might just really belong together after all, liz deserves better. Lucky is worthless, Jason is well not so bright and nicolas, has been turned into his father, liz needs a completely new men.
Jason has had so many brain surgeries and brain injuries I’m surprised he isn’t played by Gary Busey, who’s career never recovered from the head trauma he sustained from a motor cycle accident.
For everyone’s sake I hope he doesn’t get another brain injury.
How many surgeons have stuck their hands under his skull. One more and he fills his punch card for a free surgery?

It’s strange how Jake suddenly cares who he is. We’ve been told over and over again as the audience he doesn’t want to know lending me to believe it’s ok Liz kept the secret. Regardless, the reveal will happen and I’m hoping for well written chacter driven material over plot points.
I hope so, too. Maybe the perceived Jake turnaround is a quick new direction by the new writers to restore Jason to being Jason? I just hope Jason makes the most of this incredible new lease on life. To have him settle into the mob life again would be just plain stupid.
I think the reason Jake is anxious about finding out his true identity is because Laura put the thought in his head. Her words about not knowing if he has a family out there probably waiting for him, sitting in limbo, gave him pause. So, of course, Sam will be front and center helping him. This is as much about har as it is him. Did you doubt it for a minute that the writers would turn the focus on these two, Crystal? LOL…..at this point, I’ll take anything which could potentially speed the process of ‘finding’ Jason. And, it will take air time away from Sonny and company…two birds with one stone. Well, except for Michael…there is the prospect of him becoming a daddy.
I just wish Shay would check in, especially now….Sabrina is expecting. I want your take on this, Shay. Is it Michael’s? He’s the only one with whom she’s sleeping, right? Where are you, Shay? I miss you!

For example, I actually replied to your last post here immediately after my remarks to Timmm….that’s gone, and all I discussed were the topics you broached! (Oh, I did attempt a resend on that other thread as you’ve requested…fingers crossed!) Having said that, of course, I agree with your assessment of Alexis and Julian….they look like ridiculous, sex-crazed adolescents….their behavior is way past stale! We are not the only ones who have repeatedly made this pronouncement, yet, these two continue to be presented as such. How ludicrous! Ditto for the characters oft-named not just by me, but many different contributors here, that we wish to see less of, if not at all….again, no change in that situation either!!! I thought that in addition to sharing thoughts and having lighthearted fun with other daytime fans here at MFSoaps, the idea was to provide feedback to whomever from the prospective shows cares to take a looky-loo at our unvarnished, true reactions to the product(s) they are pushing. If we are not satisfied, and that would certainly appear to be the case for GH given the dismal ratings, then why wouldn’t our honestly-expressed reviews be taken for what they are? They are just opinions, after all, and many are absolutely fascinating to behold….why some of ours are seemingly considered so controversial as to be deemed unsuitable for inclusion online is beyond me. SHAY! How utterly frustrating for you as well as for those of us who enjoy your snappy writing which makes some of us roar with ribald laughter. The very idea that your pearls of wisdom, gems of narrative prose and treasures of witticisms, disappeared is quite vexing to me.
I do not understand the filtering/moderation process of various sites.
For instance, I recently wrote a Yelp review which was put in the filter bin which Yelp calls “Reviews not Recommended.” It’s the pile of shame for Yelp reviewers. Allow me to brag–I write really good and somewhat funny reviews and they are predicated upon my real life experience with a business establishments. This review in particular was about a vacuum cleaner store and their repair service. I wrote that the vacuum which I purchased from this establishment ,and which they subsequently serviced, sucked big time. Now see? I explained that sucking in this case was a good thing and went on to say my vacuum sucked with amazing horsepower. But the word ‘suck’ just automatically kicked my review into the pile of Yelp shame. Perhaps something similar is being employed here.
Perhaps the following phrases and arrangement of words will automatically make comments go POOF! Consider the following: Sappy, Sparkle Pony, Val Chops, Princess Collection, cleavage as big as the Ritz, and finally, huffing and puffing like a couple of adolescent horn dogs in heat.
Let us see if this post even comes through. In any case, I think I may be on to something. And Shay? Unlike my vacuum, you do not SUCK!
Oh, I hear you, ShayGirl. I will never understand why this couple has been targeted to act as High Schoolers playing hooky, and ending up, unfailingly, in bed. And, once again, I had to suffer a frontal view of Julian in his drawers. I find that particular picture offensive. One’s eyes can’t help going there. And if the moderators can’t see it’s not our words that are improper, but ‘that’ image, then, something’s rotten in Denmark. However, I do have confidence in the moderators who tediously ‘sift’ through our labor of ‘love’…lol. Perhaps it would not bother me so much had they been boxers, instead of extra-short jockeys. I don’t want to even see a hint of IT? Disgusto……and, their childish banter…..don’t get me started on that!
I think that the reason some of our posts don’t make it is because there are a few chosen words that make bells go off. Perhaps, it isn’t the moderators at all, but a machine set to smell and weed out certain words, such as Harry’s mot du jour; SUCK. LOL.
Nontheless, it’s baffling how some posters can attack fellow-posters by getting a free pass.meanwhile, we cannot express our feelings of certain characters. I ask; is that fair?
I do like Nancy, but, I must admit, Alexis gets on my nerves, albeit that’s not my fault. That moue meant to be cute and charming looks ridiculous on her. The lisp affectation, even worse. So, the character/actress would get a lot more respect if the writers would write the role in a more mature way…..in plain English. HAVE HER ACT HER AGE!! Her daughter Molly exudes more sofistication and maturity than she does. How did she manage to rear such a well-rounded young lady? Did she go to finishing school? I did. LOL.
It feels great doing this with you, again. But, I have not heard a peep out of you about Sam, Liz, Ava, Val, Sabrina…well, all the ladies, gracing the sinful ‘ Naked City’ (lol) of Port Charles, ShayShay. What say you? Buonanotte, cara.

I am also curious to know what you think of Baby Boy Doll, Michael ( as Timmm describes him) suddenly becoming a turncoat by joining Sonny’s tainted camp. Michael’s ‘malvitoso’, seemingly tough exterior, just doesn’t cut it….not with those dufusy eyes and soft skin. Ridiculous. Here he is !!!! What are TPTB trying to make him do? Pick up the reins where Sonny, the fake ‘contrabbandiere’ left them?
Also, do you remember a while back when doe-eyed Dante and Lulu started talking about a second baby? I had said that I believed Emme to be pregnant, ergo the renewed talk about trying again. I also think that Valerie will be pregnant. That mix-up with the little white bags to either stir/start trouble or to deflect a true Valerie-pregnancy was stupid. So obvious!!!! I think she is pregnant with Dante’s baby. What a mess. There will be hell to pay..a mayhem of switching babies, dying babies, incubated babies…not looking forward to that!! …..who is the father, whose baby belongs to whom?? Three pregnancies, Shay. I cannot tell you the number of occasions when I have so enjoyed one of your quick quips and have responded in kind, only to have my replies refused. Jake has all these flashbacks about Sam, Danny runs to him, Spin calls him Stone Cold, Sonny calls him Jason, and he and no one else can put two and two together?…You would think someone with no past might wonder if he could be Jason, especially since he knew he and Robin were captives of Helene Cassidine!…and with Jasons body never found and Patrick knowing Jake and Jason had similiar brain surgery you would think others would wonder if he could be Jason?…Guess they all could use brain surgery!
This show also has bad amnesia and has forgotten Monica, Mac and Felicia characters and Nathans who-ya-daddy plot!
You would think with all of the clues someone would figure Jake is Jason. But then the Port Charles PD never seems to solve cases either.

I don’t want Sam to be the one who figures out the truth– I mean the truth has been staring her in the face all this time and she hasn’t managed to put it together yet, so what fun will it be watching her get a clue now— Personally, I rather have Liz finally get a backbone and confess— at the altar, just as they about to exchange vows, when the part comes– does anyone know of any reason why these two cannot be join in marriage speak now or forever hold your peace– Liz speaks and spills her guts– that will be a very soapy way to make the reveal.
Yes, I agree, Mary. I have said this from the get go. Liz coming forward with the truth is the only way she can be redeemed. I must say, she is such a good actress….as credible as she is beautiful. I beg for the writers not to let her plunge deeper and deeper in this black hole she has created for herself….please! So disappointed in this character. But, as I also said before….if the writers plan to couple Jake with Sam, then Liz must be the scapegoat to allow for that plan to be conceived and develop.
This story line needed to wrap up a year ago.
Remember when DAYS spent over a year with two dudes claiming to Roman Brady which set up the never ending so who is John Black, which has returned. Y&R strung out the it’s Adam story line for year.
These storylines are so uninteresting. Casting changes happen, audiences can keep up. END this never interesting story line.
This story has outlasted my interest in it. I just hope the aftermath is worth it.

I agree, Su.. But billy needs to find out who he is for multiple reasons. Both he and Sam need closure. Danny needs to know his father as much as Jake needs to know his son.

Well they essentially had Emma be like the Oracle at Delphi today. Obviously someone is going to crash a wedding. The interesting part is Sam & Patrick said they’re not going to get married BEFORE Liz & Jake. So either Sam is going to crash Jake’s wedding (or Spinelli) or Robin comes back with the truth–not knowing Elizabeth knows.
Interesting that Hayden knows for sure now. (And they’ve never explained why no one has come looking for Hayden either).

Too late! Even Y&R unmasked Gabe and they did it in the beginning of October! They have plenty to play off of Adam’s identity. Same with GH. Unmask Jake NOW and there is plenty to play out for November sweeps! But no, they constantly stall and rehash with flashbacks we had just seen FIVE minutes ago! Its bad. I will NOT stop watching but I’m afraid there will be nothing to watch soon! How many posts in the last year alone have fans vented about all the useless characters on this show and them not using the character we want! Nathan, Morgan, Michael, Valerie, Lulu, Maxie, Julian, Sabrina, Dante, CUT THEM! And if Laura mopes around from door to door interrupting hot sex and has nothing to add to the show, CUT HER TO! @Torqumada. I know, Kim has been there forever but they need the character and its not the “General Robin” show so recast and do it with Finola involved. I applaud Kim for moving on and fulfilling her dreams. If they can replace Steve Burton they can replace Kimberly McCullough!
Better yet, if the were able and willing to recast Lucky, not once but twice, then why can’t they recast Robin which is less than a formidable task?
I love KM’s Robin–I really do. I watched her grow up on screen. But I do feel she is replaceable and I do think she ought to be recast.

How? You ask, Dylan? Well, these are the same people who will have divorced couples remarry in the Catholic Church (Roman CC) over and over. Any Roman Catholic who went through religion class and THE CATECHISM, who knows the laws of said church, is aware that one cannot remarry in the church. It is a no-no. One would have to be a widow/widower, get an annulment from the Vatican, which is the same as a special dispensation. Some people will argue that fact/law. I don’t agree with it, but, until Canon Law changes, it is what it is. A body cannot even marry in the church without having received all the sacraments. ….very strict and restrictive.
So, Dylan …I said this before; soaps have their own set of laws/codes for everything. Sonny probably compiled those rules and regulations.

@CeeCee…..GH has been playing fast and loose with the rules of the RCC for quite some time. We had a huge discussion here about it during the Sappy and Patrick “wedding interruptus.” (Hat tip to Harry for the charming description…) During that nuptial farce, the writers had Lucy Coe officiating the vows with not a priest in sight….as if anybody could just traipse into a Catholic church and conduct a marriage ceremony! As far as I am aware, the only way even actual ordained clergy of other faiths can assist in a Catholic church service is as a concelebrant with a priest presiding….yet, there was “Floocy” in all of her scatterbrained glory running the show by her lonesome! (Like one could just rent the church for the atmosphere, with no rules to abide whatsoever!) I realize that all soaps take creative liberties, but there should be at least a modicum of respect for religious conventions when such a “holy” location is utilized.

The last regime appeared to take a particular delight in offending those of the RC persuasion…between flaunting unheard of practices and that truly distasteful “crypt tryst,’ it was truly revolting. I simply don’t understand the intolerance….even if you don’t agree with the basic tenets of “The Church,” there are certainly enough others out there to provide a place of comfort and sanctuary for most any point of view, and in this country, one is free to go in search of what suits one. It’s rather puzzling to me why that is not enough for some people.

I’m glad this storyline is finally moving towards a conclusion. It’s the story that would never end. If RC were still the head writer, we might not have seen the Jason reveal until the 2020 November sweeps. At least now it looks like we might see it by the end of the year. I honestly don’t even care about if Jason ends up with Sam, Elizabeth, or the waitress at Kelly’s. I just want this story to conclude, so everyone can move on.
Aside from the fact is TV fiction 1) I don’t think you need blood tests anymore to get married. 2) Jake obviously has been issued a state ID (driver’s license) so if the state accepts you’re Jake Doe and gives you a DL, he can get married

The new writers came in this week, and we are in full swing to reveal this Jake/Jason secret. Thank goodness Laura came back to drill this in his head to find out who he really is. I wonder why there wasn’t an announcement that the new writers showed up already. I had to read the GH credits to find out. P.S. Sonny in a wheelchair = meaty material.

I think Miss Lizzie is in LaLaLand. Her reality is skewed with an altered mental state. I bet this is where the story will eventually go. The men in white will come collect her.

Somebody please save GH! It is unwatchable to this diehard, lifetime ABC soap fan. I’m roughly two weeks behind because I just can’t watch it. Last night I tried getting through the episode where Sam & Jakeson meet up at their restaurant, and Liz & Patrick drone on and on about I don’t even know or care what. It was dreadful. I want to love GH so much and would be so happy to invest 5 hours a week of my life in this show for just the bare minimum. I don’t want this show cancelled. It has a talented cast, years of history, and an audience who wants nothing more than to support it. But I tried so hard to think of just one character or storyline I love enough to watch this show on a regular basis and sadly couldn’t come up with even one. 🙁 At this point I’ve entered Guza Years apathy and that is when I stopped watching it last time. But then I still had my beloved OLTL.

I agree that this has gone on way too long. Perhaps all the characters left in the dark about Jason’s identity were secretly labotomized or subjected to some other weird mind altering. Kind of like Little Jake with his spooky children of the corn vibe. So disturbing.
