Nicolas Bechtel Returns To General Hospital
General Hospital fans were greeted with good news this week with the reveal that scene-stealer Nicolas Bechtel (Spencer Cassadine) is back taping new episodes of the ABC sudser as of last week.
This means look for Spencer Cassadine to become part of his grandmother Laura’s (Genie Francis) story, and perhaps the switcheroo that the man posing as Kevin is actually his evil twin, Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom)!
Seems like the oh-so-bright Spencer just might either be headed for trouble, or will be smart enough to figure out what is going down … but we will shall see!

Photo: BechtelInstagram
The last time Bechtel appeared on GH was back in in August of 2017. The character of Nikolas was the facilitator in the last time Genie Francis exited the show under much fan uproar. Laura was written-off in story to tend to Spencer in Europe when the youngster broke his legs.
Yesterday, Nicolas posted a cute pic with his co-stars Genie Francis and Jon Linstrom and stating: “Never a dull moment around here. Selfies #GH”
So, excited to hear Spencer C will be on the Port Charles scene soon? Comment below.
This is Ione story I’m looking forward to. Sonny and company need to be put on the back burner for a time . Putting them in the center of every story is not working.
Couldn’t agree more. Since Maurice took off time (or is taking off time) to do a movie maybe we’ll get a break and he’ll be arrested until he comes back. LOL; you know he always gets out. As did Carly. Shame…
YES! It’s the same rehashed story with them, or it’s “The Morgan Hour.” No thanks.
Sonny is Spencer’s uncle. You can bet your soul they will have some scenes together.
I can almost take Sonny if he’d just lose Carly. LOL! Ugggggggggg; never have I loathed a character more.
awesome, I love Spencer, he’s such a character, needs a little discipline though lol
agree with LAVERNE
A-ha!!! Finally we get this character back. I’m saying this because if Spencer’s around, there’s hope his father Nikolas isn’t too far behind. Until Nik comes back, I will not be able to look at Valentin as anything but a murderer.
Nicholas is a great actor and adds so much to the scenes/storylines that he is involved in. Someone mentioned that he was suppose to be the same age as “Cameron” (15). Well, he is 13 1/2 – fairly close but has yet to have a growth spurt. I guess it is an opportunity for the now unruly Cameron to bully “Spencer” and hopefully will show that bullies do not win in the end.
Spencer was born on-screen February 17, 2006
How old am I if I was born on February 17, 2006?
You are 12 years, 7 months, 1 week, and 1 day old.(on Sept 25th 2018)
He is near 13 years old..
Boys at 13 do not act curtsy like, no way.
He is a 13 year old Prince.
If Spenser is written as a little kid (I believe he will be) I will barf..
That cutie picture of a 13 year boy looking baby cute is nuff to see his role LOL (the poor guy)
Anyways, I’d rather have Nikolas back.
Looking forward to see how Spencer will be portrayed at 13 this time around..
Soencer ddnt age…
He’ll probably be the first to realize Grandpa Kevin is really Ryan. Wasn’t Spencer into reading crime books?
Ryan will lock him away and have Laura think Spencer returned to school.
Nicolas Bechtel is a great actor. He has more talent in his pinky toe than some of the adult “actors” on the show. I watched the show during Ryan’s original reign of terror. My only hope is that Ryan kills Peter!
At the risk of angering other posters, I agree, AVP. Spencer is a refreshingly smart kid (in contrast to airheaded, hormone-driven Cameron) and I really enjoy his scenes. As far as Peter goes, my feelings are as strong as ever: don’t like the character, the actor is talented but miscast, and has way too much influence over Maxie. I don’t want him killed (Anna’s been thru enough), just to go bye-bye.
Definitely bye,bye,bye,bye,bye!!!
Soaphound, agree with you (although, I don’t think that he is a talented actor)…
So, no. Love Peter! Can’t wait for him to bond with Anna and really hoping he and Maxi become a couple. Lots of chemistry there.
Peter is about as exciting as a mayonnaise sandwich on Wonder Bread.
I’d say he’s more like avocado on rye. Yum!
Over the moon! His sass and charm were welcomed relief from all the other strum and drag. I hope that they totally ignore the age difference between Spencer and Jocelyn (since they SOAR’d her and Cameron) and just keep him with Emma. Can’t wait to see what trouble he gets into!
On one horn, it will be great to see Spencer back on the show, on the other horn he’s going to look entirely out of place next to Joss & Cameron who are supposed to be the same age he is, and have both been obviously SORASed out of that category.
I totally agree. They never should have sorased Cameron. If they wanted a 3rd wheel for Joss and Oscar they could have brought in anyone. When you have talented youngsters such as Nicholas and Brooklyn they should let them grow up with the part like they did Robin.
Satan, that would be cloven hoof, not horn.
I’ve mostly found the character to be incredibly irritating but loved him when paired with Laura and Kevin last year. Everyone in that cluster got better somehow. Glad he’s coming back. The show kind of needs his energy after all the misery this year with Nelle. And, as others have said, here’s hoping Nicholas is on his way back as well. (and you will only get support from me about giving Sonny and the gang a rest. Been asking for that for 15-20 years. It’ll never happen, but I can dream).
Perfectly said, Caleb. The combo of Laura, Kevin, and Spencer is terrific and their exchanges were better than most repetitively scripted scenes. I don’t hate Sonny and Carly but, like Barbra & Donna sang in 1979, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! It seems like every story involves them or has the potential of involving them: Oscar’s illness, Elizabeth & Franco, Ava on the warpath again. We need a Corinthos sabbatical.
We definitely need a sabbatical from two characters you mentioned in your post, but neither of them are named Corinthos.
Awesome…now bring back Nicholas, too (even a recast!).
Only one Nikolas recast ever worked. And since he’s now a felon & a fugitive, it’s not likely he will be back. And yes, I’m referring to the actor, not the character!
I’m actually hoping that Tyler Christopher’s exit from Days (and his replacement by Johnny Zacchara, no less) means that he’s coming back to Port Charles, even if it’s only a short term.
Some people only want to see Nik alive so Val the Bastard gets off the hook for being a murderer. Of course now that he’s apparently arranged the death of Nina’s mommy, it seems that ship has sailed across the river Styx.
I think Nikolas should come back because Spencer already lost one of his parents. And somebody has to teach that kid about his Cassadine family history in the proper context.
But that last recast sucked so much dragon ass that I’m trying to block him permanently out of my Unholy mind. Nobody needs to see anymore of that.
Satan, they might as well have cast Gary Busey as the Nikolas recast.
That would have at least been more entertaining. And his head injuries (and resulting effect on his mind) would be appropriate for a character who flew out the window of a castle more than once.
Don’t think I could buy Busey as Laura’s son though. Pretty sure he’s older than her by a decade or so.
Glad Spencer is back and love the Ryan/Kevin story. Jon Lindstrom manages to make his portrayal of a psychopath to be funny. One question–how is it that Spencer is still a little boy and his former peers, Joss and Cameron , are sophomores in high school. It’s just weird and wrong in so many ways.
SORASing is a slippery slope, that once you go down, it’s likely to drag others with you.
Eden McCoy took over for Joss when the children of the corn girl became unavailable. Mark Teschner worked his magic again to find someone who truly could pass for the daughter of Ingo R & Laura W.
The kid who played adolescent Cam for many years was charming, but not exciting. The jury’s still out on Teen Cam #2.
The kids that don’t get SORASed are played by child actors who leave an indelible mark. Kimberly McC, being the gold standard. Brooklyn Silzer, Nicholas Bechtel and now Hudson West will probably have their roles for a while, unless they leave acting.
