It is their own stupid fault.. they have to know what they doing / research .. I worked for a plastic surgeon for 7 years and can spot everything someone had done lol 1st.. never ever put silicone in your lips.. silicone is permanent .. if it is botched it can not be corrected.. if you don’t like it, it’s yours the rest of your life.. you put your own fat in your lips.. A strip of fat from your temple area.. Fat will fade away .. only 30% will stick.. people with lip work can’t say ‘work’ correctly or… Read more »
You make good points, su0000, and I am all in favor of personal responsibility. What you do to your body by choice is a decision you have to own and take the consequences for. But I also blame the culture, which is obsessed with looks and sends some pretty sick messages to young people, particularly to young women. Actors/actresses are especially vulnerable, and again, actresses seem to feel the pressure most acutely. It would be nice to think that everyone would be sane enough and grounded enough (and strong enough) to withstand the pressure, but a lot of people just… Read more »
“Incidentally, since you mentioned you worked for a plastic surgeon: how about some responsibility on the part of the medical profession? Some of this stuff, they should just be saying no to”
When you have an idiot like the doctor who made “Octomom” a freaking household name, I don’t expect ANY responsibility from the medical community. These procedures are no different, unfortunately.
Michael (not Fairman) I didn’t mean to come off snarky with YOU. I reread my comments and I should have ended it with a smiley face, Because I agree with everything you said because it is logical. Unfortunately the so-called medical community and the people getting these procedures is not.
I got that completely, Domino; no worries at all. (And I have to agree: surely there are some plastic surgeons and other doctors who behave ethically, but clearly there’s also a substantial percentage who will simply do whatever the client can pay for, even if it’s incredibly irresponsible. Maybe the profession itself needs to tighten the ethical standards?)
Ditto…..NO SYMPATHY ! (:)
I have to agree 100% with you, su! I predict in 5 to 10 years from now, actresses with thin lips like Julia Stiles will be the new Twiggy. All these fake trout-pout/joker faces are going to be a laughingstock (not that they are not already). I am ashamed for saying this, but I got sucked into watching CELEBRITY APPRENTICE this time. It is so hard to watch so many women with work done. Brandi Glanville was a beautiful woman and now she has the Joker’s face. Even when they have a little something done (like Leeza Gibbons), you can… Read more »
To me, Lisa Rinna’s lips are sexy, I remember watching DAYS in the 90s as a teen and thinking…”who is this Billie character with these gorgeous lips??” haha….that being said, she did it when no one wanted or had big lips, now, present day, it’s all the rage. I was made fun of for having “full” lips when I was younger, I am African American, now all my friends LOVE my lips, haha!!!
I’ll take your word for it, Su. I don’t even think about it right now….but, we women are ,somewhat , all vain. I’m sure I will contemplate a face-lift twenty years from now. No hot lips, though….I already have those. LOL. later.
I don’t know…I think Lisa may have just wanted another quote…because in actuality I don’t think she started the trend..or at least no one is doing it to follow in her footsteps. As for a person’s own fault/taking responsibility, that’s true. But it’s also the fault of doctors who do this procedure knowing the risks. Yes, there are a lot of procedures, medications, cosmetics, chemicals that unfortunately we all either do, take use or are exposed to. Doesn’t make it right. All of these things should be banned…and a doctor certainly should be thinking more with his conscience and less… Read more »
You are so right. Lisa Rinna, who? The woman lives for publicity … good or bad.
For many, many years Lisa denied having lip injections. She claimed her lips were “natural”…despite the obvious.
I’ve always liked Lisa Rinna, whether it was in scripted series, reality shows, or on talk shows. She seems genuine and can be quite funny.
Why is she apologizing? She didn’t invent the procedure, she didn’t force anyone else to have it done. She may have been one of the first “names” that came forward to say they done it, but I doubt she was the first one who did. She is as responsible for this as Al Gore was responsible for the internet.
I thought her lips were natural until she confessed. Good for Lisa for getting it removed. As for apologizing–I don’t think she has anything to apologize for. If people are stupid enough to get lip injections and it backfires, that’s on them.
I’ve never seen lips that have been artificially enhanced come across as natural. The only actress I can think of with plump natural lips is Angelina Jolie.
Some actresses and actors as well just go too far with all the cosmetic enhancements. I don’t fault an actress for undergoing a little “lift” in order to keep working and some have excellent subtle work done. But the ones who go to the extreme with injections, enhancements, modifications, etc., the end result is usually
an unnatural appearance.
