Courtesy/ABC

“Halloween is a special time around Port Charles! It is always filled with surprises, twists, tricks, and even treats! And this year is no different.  In honor of Halloween, we put together some of the funniest and scariest moments for you, the fans, to enjoy!  We hope you have a fun, and safe Halloween!”

That is what GH’s real life lovebirds and on-screen duo, Kristen Alderson (Kiki) and Chad Duell (Michael) say as the introduction to this video ditty produced by the folks at General Hospital to get you in the mood for fright night!

With clips edited to the tune, “We Hope You have a Haunted Halloween”, many of your favorite characters are seen in costume, whether it was from a past Halloween episode or story arc, or part of a story, as in the case of Obrecht (Kathleen Gati)  in the “Anna” (Finola Hughes) mask!

The 2014 Halloween in Port Charles is looking to be pretty scary too …. as many stories are heating up … and many crazies are on the loose!  How it all plays out remains to be seen, but for now watch the “Happy Halloween From General Hospital” video after the jump!  Then share what was your favorite clip from it below!

General Hospital has the most vivid sensational characters, of all the soaps!!
It is a spellbinding on the edge soap yet has fun humorous stuff injected in for balance!!
I know General Hospital will take it all the way for our Halloween good time!!

Can hardly wait for Roger Howarth/Franco’s Halloween wedding!!
It’s gonna rock!!!

(when the soaps are not taken overly serious as if they are real and personal, they can be fun, really fun!! …
Especially General Hospital, always a good time on the cliffs edge dangling suspense!! !!!

I completely agree! Will never understand the criticism that GH is not “realistic” enough. Hello? It’s a tv show! Not even “reality” shows are realistic. They are scripted. Pro wrestling – scripted. And, when have soaps ever been “realistic?” I guess those critics only want dour, depressing sagas where everyone is drinking, having affairs & popping prescription drugs to deal with it all. I’d MUCH rather watch GH’s twisted, black humor any day! When you have a mobster like Sonny who has ruled the town, it makes sense to do GET SHORTY eventually.

Lately, we are seeing the real Roger Howarth; playing Franco far more delicious than he has since GH changed his character over from Todd. Looking forward to his Halloween surprise for Carly who deserves everything that is coming to her!

Actually, ces…I’ve been saying this for a while not..but we’re seeing the reall “Todd.” His personality is really emerging very close to Todd’s and I’m thinking this is the way Ron gets away with keeping Roger in his beloved role while staying within the legal boundaries. Either way I agree. Roger is baaaaaaaack!

should read a while “now”…and real (not reall)

You’re right Rebecca. I saw “Todd” in those scenes with Heather on Friday, not Franco. GH knows that turning Roger into Franco was dumb but their hands were tied if they wanted to keep Roger on the show. It sucks, because Todd & Carly used to have chemistry and then poof, PP came in and they lost it along the way. I’m really hoping Franco & Nina hook up together after all this is said & done. Love the stuff Roger is doing now 😉 Super tired of Carly needing to protect Michael all the time — it’s like “Cut… Read more »

su0000, I think something is going on with Franco off-screen. 1st I thought there were 2 of him (hear me out..lol), but now I wonder if he has a split personality.. Thursday when Franco & Michael were in the conferences room at GH his hair was combed down straight and dry (no product). He said he had an appointment & left. A bit later he shows up at Ferncliff to see mom. He had the same clothes on, added a jacket and some kind of hair oil. His hair was slicked back like John Travolta in Grease. Heather said “What… Read more »

Cant wait for ‘THE BRIDE OF FRANCOSTEIN’ episode…lol…this episode wouldve been a great time for Helene to pay a spooky visit to Jason in the hospital…Nina asking Silas to ‘Play Misty For Me'(with Donna Mills in that scene: she played in the movie with that title about a crazy woman-Jessica Walter- obsessed with Clint Eastwoods character and went all Ninalike crazy, though the much of the storyline is a different)…Faison suprising Liesal only its Victor in a mask…Lulu having a Rosemarys Baby nightmare as she is carrying Stravos’s child and all the Cassidines are there worhshiping the Devil(Stravos) as Lulu… Read more »

To honor Michelles big performance: Attack Of The 50ft Nina on the Halloween episode! Nina is touched by an alien on a long dark deserted road…within days she grows into a giant and goes on a rampage searching for Silas and Sam who briefly reunited and are having drinks at Ryans Bar in New York…Nina pulls off the roof and a beam falls on Sam crushing her to death! Nina reaches down and picks up Silas and carries him off only both are electricuited to death when giant Nina attempts to cross electrical lines…of course its just a fantasy episode… Read more »

I remember “Play Misty for Me-” a great movie! It used to be shown on television a lot when I was younger! I am really enjoying Nina Clay. Love Nina’s interactions with her mother and Rosalie. She’s hurt, sensitive, and vulnerable mixed with crazy, deceitful, and diabolical. With all of the talk about how close she was to her father-I am wondering if she was abused by him-which caused her to go crazy. It sounds like Franco will be showing quite the video at his wedding to Carly-much like what happened on Days at Brady and Kristen’s wedding. I just… Read more »

I know jimh-the couch-haha! Perhaps this storyline will make Michael a tad bit interesting. I have always been a fan of Sonny’s, but not lately-and Shawn as his “enforcer” is ridiculous. Waste of air-time-Shawn trying to pin Franco’s near-death on Maxie, etc.-when you know that was never going to happen. Sonny repeating the same lines about how Carly is making a mistake, how she doesn’t love Franco, how she belongs with Sonny, etc., etc.-just plain dumb and boring. I’ve lost count at how many women Sonny has said belonged with him. Anyhoo, I do like Franco-just not in this storyline.… Read more »

Franco with Heather or Franco with Nina…Franco works best with these two characters and vice versa…imo…GH still has some flaws but lately the cast seems somewhat better balanced in recent weeks and the storylines are improving lately that now if my overgrown toenails need a trim they’ll just have to wait for the weekend…lol

Faison dressing up as Beetlejuice last year was the best. The great Anders Hove took the ball and ran with it. I always love seeing what costumes they come up with for the various characters. Looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us this year.

I was glad to see Heather; I want Franco and Heather to confront Sonny and Shawn. I hope Franco becomes more combatant with Sonny. Just because he ‘s a mobster, the writers like to make other characters afraid of him. That’s how they wrote A. J.’s character.

Well, it’s quite obvious Franco’s from today’s episode. wedding gift to his bride will be a video of herself and a Sonny in bed…brought to us in technicolor …Boo, surprise, y’ll.

You’re right…crossed my mind too. I think the preview ,today, tried to throw us off, though. Didn’t Franco say to Carly that he knew what was going on between her and Sonny? Of course, it’ll be something completely different from what we’re thinking.

General Hospital

GENERAL HOSPITAL 15000th Episode: Laura Faces Being Ousted as Mayor as Port Charles Bands Together in Support of Her

Finally, after many preemptions, General Hospital’s 15,000the episode aired on Wednesday. In it and front and center in the standalone episode was GH icon, Genie Francis (Laura).

In story, after a scathing op-ed is run in The Invader from a group of citizens called “The Friend of Port Charles”, they take aim at Mayor Laura Collins and want a recall to replace her. When trying to figure out who was behind the story, Laura’s friends and the citizens of the town, band together to keep her from being ousted and to figure out who would attack her in the press like this.

That sets up a few sentimental flashback clips featuring the three current longest-running members of the cast, Genie, Kin Shriner (Scott) and Jackie Zeman (Bobbie).  Viewers get a glimpse of Scotty and Laura’s wedding, and then Bobbie’s contentious and duplicitous side when she fought for the love of Scotty against a teenaged Laura.

As Laura tries to determine who is behind the op-ed, Curtis (Donnell Turner) gets a lead from Ms. Wu (Lydia Look) that Laura’s half-brother, Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) is behind it.  Laura then heads to Pentonville to confront Cyrus.  She asks if he’s the brains behind “The Friends of Port Charles”.

Cyrus insists he is only an advisor. He goes on to say that this is a group of people who are disillusioned by the way she is running the town.  Cyrus gets angry and vengeful, and emotional, when saying the police department is corrupt and how ELQ and Cassadine Industries gets tax breaks at the expense of less fortunate people, etc.  Laura can’t figure out if these people in the ‘friends’ group have such high moral value why would they hire a criminal, like him, as an advisor?

Renault goes on to say that it’s up to God and preaches she needs to be less self-righteous.  Laura throws back to Cyrus that where was God in that scathing op-ed, that he did filled with such hate?  Laura then forgives him and walks out, which stuns Cyrus.

Photo: ABC

Later, Scotty in front of Laura, Bobbie, Anna (Finola Hughes), Felicia (Kristina Wagner) and Lucy (Lynn Herring), proposes to Liesl (Kathleen Gati), but she turns down his marriage proposal.  Liesl feels they have a good thing going , so why mess it up with a marriage at this point. The two kiss.

In addition, Laura meets up with Maxie (Kirsten Storms), who are visiting an institutionalized Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst).  Maxie brings her some cosmetics from Deception because of the bad lighting in the facility.

The softball game was the throughline of the episode, and at the end, we saw the payoff, when all the characters converged on Charlie’s giving their support to Laura, who says she is ready to write her rebuttal.

Then in a voice-over from Laura, she speaks to the essence of Port Charles and its residents which included: that they have a strong community that she is proud to be a part of it and she speaks to her legacy over generations.  Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) proposes a toast to Laura, as she notes that if she loses the recall then so be it, adding that if the person who replaces her is a Port Charles lifer, like she is, then the town will continue to prosper.

So, what did you think of the 15,000 episode milestone episode? Did you enjoy the performance of Genie Francis? Did you like the way much of the cast was utilized, or did you feel otherwise? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

The juggernaut that is ABC’s General Hospital, is marking yet another accomplishment in its storied 59-year-history.  The iconic soap opera is set to air on Wednesday, June 22nd (unless preempted), its 15,000th episode.

As part of the celebration, General Hospital’s Finola Hughes (Anna Devane), Marcus Coloma (Nikolas Cassadine) and Josh Swickard (Chase), who all appear in the standalone episode, chat with Michael Fairman to mark the occasion.

During the conversation now on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel, Finola and Marcus, and later Josh, who logged on later while at Disneyland, discuss: their beginnings on GH from landing their respective roles, who in the cast perhaps most intimated them, at first, and what it has meant to be part of the legacy of General Hospital.  In addition, Finola, Marcus, and Josh reveal some of their more challenging storylines, and more.

We also take a moment to send out our condolences to Kristina (Felicia) and Jack Wagner (Ex-Frisco) on the passing of their son, Harrison, and how you can donate to the scholarship fund in his honor.

NATAS President and CEO, Adam Sharp, Shares Insight Into 49th Annual Daytime Emmys Telecast

The Daytime Emmys are just three days away when the gold statuettes are handed out on the 49th Annual Awards Show telecast on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ on Friday night, June 24th (9pm EST).

Ahead of the ceremonies, NATAS President and CEO, Adam Sharp, spoke to Variety to give some details of what viewers may be on the lookout for when the broadcast returns, with an all-live presentation for the first time since 2019, and through the Covid-19 pandemic, which caused it to pivot to virtual ceremonies for the last two years.

Photo: NATAS

Now, Sharp shares that with the previously announced realignment that will see Children’s & Family programming having its own Emmy that, “The telecast will be very squarely focused on the dramas, talk shows and game shows.”  He also adds: “It will be a bit more focused.”

With an audience present this year, Sharp is counting on the live element to heighten the awards night fun and drama. expressing, “Hopefully that  excitement conveys to the viewers.  I think you’ll see us try to put a lot of that interaction on display.”

This year’s Daytime Emmys will feature 14 categories which Sharp hopes streamlines the broadcast and keeps it to a tight two-hour celebration of daytime.

Previously, NATAS and the TV Academy (which administers the Primetime Emmys), decided to move away from day part distinctions and focus more on genre. In addition, streaming series featuring soap notables, such as Studio City and The Bay, will be competing for nomination slots in September’s Primetime Emmys.

So, looking forward to this year’s Daytime Emmy telecast? Comment below.
