Sharon Collins Newman is now battling breast cancer, in an important story that The Young and the Restless has chosen to tell.
With that, it puts fan favorite, Sharon Case front and center in an emotional storyline that will have many shedding tears while the story sheds light on the diagnosis, treatment options and more for a woman battling cancer..
Tomorrow on the Friday, February 7th episode of the CBS Daytime drama, Sharon has a terrible nightmare, which gives Case a palette to showcase her acting chops … and there are some key scenes where she is reunited in a dream with her deceased daughter, Cassie, played by Camryn Grimes, who knows plays Mariah on the series.

In an interview with TV Insider, Case shared on the taping of this special episode: “There are a lot of emotions and Sharon’s having a terrible nightmare. I think I did seven costumes changes that day.” Sharon added, “I really like when we do dream episodes. They’re out of the box and fun. This episode is very scary, though. I can’t wait for people to see it.”
When discussing working in scenes with Camryn Grimes as her beloved late daughter Cassie, Case expressed: “If Sharon were imagining her life ending, then, yes, Cassie would be the first person who would enter her mind.”
Get the hankies ready for tomorrow’s episode of Y&R! Will you be watching Sharon and Camryn in the emotional scenes? Comment below.
I’ll be watching.
The cancer story is gawd awful..
It is about rich people with no concerns of paying for anything.
It is about a family pampering and they are free to support 24 hrs a day, because nobody is working a 10 hr day or themselves struggling with life problems just to sustain their lives while coping with cancer.
It is about a large family within a mile of each other to be there for her. through the day. No money problems, no obligations to keep food on the table while not being able to work.
It is PHONY ..
It is not how a great many people struggling with cancer live.
Many have no family, have no support, or family members that are 1,000 miles away with no money to fly home to support their loved ones.
This family does Not represent the families of ordinary people.
It is billionaire soap cancer..
It is not realistic of actual struggles.
When Sharon loses all her hair, pukes and withers away, and loses a breast, it doesn’t hit home.
,, Phony
Really? You’re a debby downer are you not? It’s what soaps do are tell stories and hopefully a good ones. Soaps have always used popular characters to tell social stories. You need to lighten up because “once again” just another brasher of YR…this is personally my favorite story on YR right now. I don’t go around spewing hatred about any soaps even the ones I hate.
hi Harlee,
I did not ”hate” anything..
I spoke; it is phoney and misleading to/of ordinary cancer suffering people.
I did not ”bash” Y&R, It’s my fav.
I simply do not like the unrealistic cancer story.
I have not ”spewed” hatred, I did not mention the word.
I’m happy you are enjoying the unrealistic cancer story. 🙂
The writers at Young and the Restless worked with AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY AND MEDICAL EXPERTS in the field to create Sharon’s breast cancer story line. AND YOUR medical qualifications are…?
Excuse me, I apologize, my bad but people just rant, rave bash YR all the time and get I get sick of it and someone needs to stand up for YR. I’m certainly not saying YR is in any condition of 100% (hasn’t been since they fired Kay in 2006…that was the start of the downfall of YR starting with LML. I know people doesn’t like JG but in my opinion I would rather watch Josh’s writings with his sometime good and sometime awful stories over Mal (hideous) Young any day! At least Josh doesn’t try to change YR and he does try to keep the classic feel we know about YR. Again I’m sorry of jumping the gun.
I have my battle. It just seems TV is making it a little more dramatic and not as serious as it really is.
In theory you are correct about certain things…however….do any of the 4 soaps have people of “normal” means on them? Honestly, the last I can recall was waaaaay back when OLTL had the Woleks as a core family. There is really not one family on any of the shows who does not have access to money, health insurance and great healthcare.
You are completely wrong! This storyline saved my cousins life as she immediately did a self exam, found a lump and caught the cancerous tumor before it spread! Her reconstruction surgery is next month! My tweet thanking Sharon was in soaps.com ! Secondly I took care of my dad, grandmother back to back as they fought cancer! Sharon breaks down and admits she’s getting best care because she’s blessed to have insurance! Your hate is what’s wrong with in the world!
That’s good to know..
Happy your cousin
found the lump
had many doctors appointments
lab tests
had chemo treatments
had surgery, removed breast
in 30 days time.
then after is having
reconstruction surgery
that’s extremely fast,
good she got help so quickly.
wish her a speedy recovery.
Did no one tell you that cancer does not play favorites? Cancer does not care how much money you have or don’t have. Nor does Cancer care where you live or don’t live. But hey, if watching Sharon struggle with her cancer diagnosis upsets you so much then don’t watch. No one is forcing you too.
Hi Anne,
I have never said I was ”upset”
I have said, it’s phoney and not realistic.
The soap cancer does Not represent actual people.
I doubt Sharon will take a second mortgage on her house
or have need to move to less expensive housing
nor will she need to go into a life long debt.
nor will she stress over how to pay for related needs.
it is those cancer-related problems that affect many.
The fear of not being able to maintain their lifestyle for their children, their families.
it is a huge problem with cancer inflicted people.
nothing about the story is realistic.
It is a PSA, that is good to inform people.
but still, it does not represent people working one or two jobs to survive and do not have family support 24/7; which is a great many.
but-
the PSA is good.. it may help someone.
education is always good.
It is a commercial/PSA story to alert woman.
((Sharon will not lose her hair nor her breast, she will not go into unmanageable debt, she will not face the serious struggles of everyday normal people fighting cancer.
Sharon will be just fine))
You know if you hate the show stop watching I have been upset with moments and storylines but nobody forced me to watch I for one appreciate the storyline just stick with it I have five friends who are suffering with it so put a sock in it f you don’t like it the tv does have a off switch ! SC is killing it and so is CG so give them a break it sure is better then watching Adam and Chelsea sit on the couch ! I might add though it’s not popular I think the good lord every day for my health every day maybe everybody might try that
I disagree with some naysayers here. If this story helps even one person or family know they’re not alone, it’s worth it. I’ve no doubt Sharon’s talents will be well used in this episode. Maybe she can finally score a Lead Actress nomination instead of the recent spate of nominees who deliver one mediocre episode and then just pose for the camera the rest of the year. I only hope it’s not gonna bring her and Nick back together. Rey has stepped up and deserves better treatment than his sister Lola has received from Kyle. Looking ahead to this!
I really love watching Sharon , she is a very good actor.I do share her pain right now. She did a very good job explaining the importance of self examination . Great job. Congratulations Victor Newman for the 40 years on our favorite soap. Well done.
I watched the episode tonight thru You Tube, and if that’s the best they can do, we’re in a heap of trouble.
You do know that men have been diagnosed with breast cancer?
I’ll definitely be watching. I only have sons but that could happen with them too. I have the tissues ready.
Should be good. Sharon is one of my faves.
Looking forward to seeing this episode. Sharon is definitely the actress to pull this emotional storyline off the best!! Keep up the great acting skills Miss Sharon
I will be watching. I love Y&R it is really hitting home to me .. Because I’m living with breast cancer ! I knw what it’s like through & through!! It’s not fun and it is scary . I have 4 kids 2 grandchildren.. a husband too. I don’t knw if I’m gonna live long or not . They gave me little white pills to take , for 5 yrs . ♀️ And I have to get a iv once every 6 months for 3 yrs so I don’t get cancer In My bones later . Yea this is way hard for people like me to watch some one play a cancer patient And they really don’t have it ! Smh♀️
I’m so sorry to hear what your going through, Celeste. I hope you get some comfort from the Sharon story. Hopefully you will be a long term survivor, as I’m sure Sharon will be. My best wishes and hopes for you and your loved ones.
It was boring
Everyone deals with cancer differently. I would never say another person’s reactions or feelings were not legitimate. This is one person’s story.
I need Nick to be there for her in more ways than 1. He should be the only 1 who could truly comfort her.
Unless Mia comes back to meddle, Sharon and Rey do nothing for me.
I know its a serious story but its still a soap, this should bring Shick back together where they belong

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
