Mishael Morgan To Exit The Young and the Restless

Looks like Y&R will be losing one of it’s Daytime Emmy-nominated actresses.

On Wednesday, TV Source  brought to light that contract negotiations had broken down between Mishael Morgan (Hilary Curtis) and the top-rated CBS Daytime drama.

Now. according to Soap Opera Digest. Morgan has decided to make her exit from Genoa City.  Not great news for Hevon fans, who were hoping that Devon (Bryton James) and Hilary plus a baby would somehow make them all a happy family.

Mishael joined  Y&R in 2013 and became a fan favorite for Hilary’s sassy take-no-prisoners atitube, which also included Hilary getting her own talk series, “The Hilary Hour” and “GC Buzz”.

Does this spell the end for good of the Canadian-born actress’ time with the show?  Will they write her out with a way to return? Are you sad to see Mishael go? Share your thoughts in the comment section below

very big loss for the show

I want Mishael to say. They will lose me as a viewer if she goes then. This show is going to really sink. They are making a huge mistake because she has a lot of fans. I don’t think anyone would play Hilary like Mishael.

WHAT????!!!!

I cannot believe this!!!!! Bitter pill to swallow…..C’mon, you almighty people sitting on your thrones on Mount Soaplympus!! Give us a break and give the girl what she wants!! She’s worth it!!
So, what does this mean? Will Mishael/Hilary just walk away? Will Hilary be recast? Oh, brother!!

Amen to you Celia, Y&R is going down hill fast. This is not a good sign. Sign her to a new contract pronto.

I’ve grown to like the character but not her storylines.

This sucks! I love Hilary! If anyone should go it should be Lilly!!

Lily,Cane,and both kids….boring….

Very disappointed. I really was looking forward to her and Davon and the baby making a cute little family. This is heart breaking. Please reconsider.

I love the actress, but hate her character. I hope they kill her off.

No no Steve, are you insane lol

“thanks” for the good laugh

She was one of the VERY few reasons to watch this sinking ship…..

I wish this was a publicity ploy, this uber-talented young woman is one of the rightful stars of the show…don’t go…give Ms. Morgan her due!!

She reminds me of another actress…Robin Strasser as Rachel Davis, Another World. Excellent portrayal of a young woman afraid of losing money and love.

Join the discussion…Had to reply. Not a serious watcher, but, I can record. Robin Strasser was an actor that made me realize how talented a Soap person could be. I was young and stuck at home; saw my first Soap. I had forgotten her name.!

As much as I would like for the character to stick around, I would say that killing her off would give great shock to the audience. Especially in this case.

Goodbye girl

Bye Felicia, no big loss to me. Never liked Hillary.

I am tired of her and devon

Its the soap what u expect

Good actress but tiresome. No big loss…time for a change. Also, why bring back Summer….this show is definitely going downhill.

Oh, Miss Tori….I expected a changed Summer. She brought nothing back but the ideology of the spoiled brat, rich girl……soooo, not true.
TPTB had the power to show that young women who come from money are not necessarily spoiled.
A big disappointment!! And, at the risk of getting backlash, Hunter is not that good of an actress…not natural. She delivers in a rehearsed manner…..look to Mariah!!!! Camryn is authentic; credible.
I see no drama here….especially if she has been brought back as a buffer for Kyle, whom, himself, is lamentable. I find no entertainment watching neither him nor Summer.
Furthermore, to have Phyllis be sooo mortified with her daughter’s behavior is simply laughable.
I do not want to see Summer as the summer distraction—-thank goodness for DVR’s.
As far as Mishael, Hillary added an air and aura of in-your-face facet which is so lacking…..she is the only one who could pull it off–not Kyle, not Summer….plus, she’s within my age group….as is Lily…but, Lily has become this hardened Lady Godiva who just won’t get down/off that horse….nose up in the air much?? As I said, she’s married to a worm.

Hey Celia, I think there is something special about Hunter King. However, I get your point. She came back to town as the new bad girl and her act just struck such a discordant note with me. I have heard that Hunter King is a bit of an introvert, a real sweetheart in real ife, so I think what I was picking up on is she was playing against type and she can’t pull it off.
The whole Phyllis-Billy-Summer dynamic is getting on my last nerve. Why are all these millionaires/billionaires either establishing squatters’ rights or fighting over an apartment? One would think Phyllis and Billy would get out of dodge when the real owner of the apartment came home. But NO! Instead of high tailing it out of Summer’s apartment, those two start talking about how to live with Summer without cramping each other’s style! The lack of settings and the budge to sustain it is making a fool out of these characters. The other day you had millionaire Neil competing with millionaire Jack for Chelsea’s old penthouse apartment and yet those two knuckleheads were competing with millionaire Hillary.

Apparently, the housing market in southern Wisconsin defies the national trend. HA.

Ha ha! Funny Ron. Genoa City is saturated with a bunch of millionaire transients.

Living in the Chicago suburbs, we often take weekend trips to Lake Geneva. Genoa City doesn’t have any sky scrapers. A penthouse might be found on the second floor of a Target, however!

Hunter King is a wonderful actress, she has won 2 daytime Emmys. So happy she is back on contract.

Actress-wise, I am heartbroken, as Mishael Morgan is a very talented actress. On the other hand, I’ve never warmed to the character of Hilary Curtis… so I’m not saying it’s an overall loss. And, the meltdowns on social media are a bit over-the-top. Build a bridge and get over it. She isn’t a legacy character.

“…the meltdowns on social media are a bit over-the-top. Build a bridge and get over it ”

^^^Classic.

i’d forget the words to kumbaya

Sorry to see Mishael go…she is a joy to watch!
However, I’ve never been a ‘Hevon’ fan and I hated seeing her hook up with Devon again! Not even Hilary could make Devon interesting!
Hopefully, another soap will grab her!

This would be a big loss to the show and to the fans. She is a bit unique in her approach to the material and may also be the most beautiful woman on any soap. Y&R should work this out!

She don’t make the show..get real

She doesn’t make the show….?

I have no idea what point I was trying to make. Sorry.

Can you PLEASE take Devon with you!

Well, YEAH! Timm, this actor literally grew up on the show and he still delivers his lines in a monotone dead pan. He’s lifeless and always acts the same no matter what the scene.

@GH, Michael’ TWIN

PLEASE, take Devon with you, PLEASE!

This is terrible news!

another young star that could be the future of y n r bites the dust!..besides sharon case and joshua morrow none of the previous younger stars of y n r are the originals! gone are the original billy, pyhllis, drucilla, adam etc. … not to mention even are favorite vets are vanished. Paul, Lauren, Michael, Chrsitine, Jill. wow, the top brass must pay Victor, Nikki , jACK and Ashley most of the wage budget.
Y n R brass needs to look longterm. The show literally centres around like three stories now and it seems theres only the same 10 actors on the show every day!…which is even more surprising that one of them, Mishael is exiting!>?
Theres no balance and defintly no stories that excite me currently. Losing Hilary will be devastating for y n r. Shes young and fierce and can be a complex villain/ heroine like the days when Bill Bell would write villians you loved to hate.

The lady is gorgeous and can act I was hoping they might find a new love interest for her I have always felt she was way too much woman for Devon.

YES ! “…another young star that could be the future of y n r ” BRAVO…

Oh no! Ms. Morgan is a delight to watch. And she made believable some very silly stories in her journey. She is beautiful, yes, but oh, she makes that character the best bad girl in Genoa city. Why? Because even if written in bold strokes, the character in Ms. Morgan’s hands shows vulnerability and her motivations understandable. This is a genuine loss. For this actress, I hope when one door close, another opens.

WOW i’m loving all this… ^^^ what you wrote !

another storyline gone to waste if they had to get rid of somebody why couldn’t they get rid of Lily all she does is complain anymore and so does cane he another one

Go on move on a forty time vet is on twitter saying the titanic is sinking ! You brina brainless actress back on no one gives a shit about and you have a 62. And s 76 still acting like teenagers who gets on first ! They are the past go for the future but first hire done decebt actors

Some decent actors I apologize Lordy

This comment is directed towards the character and not the actress but good bye Felicia.

Well this is just a big bummer!
I will admit ,for a long time I couldn’t stand Hilary – if a bus ran her over, I wouldn’t have mind. But recently she’s grown on me.
She’s in a front burner story line right now…..sigh.

I could see the actress wanting more…and even though her character is boring at times, will miss her.
#doYOUgirl

Like every other character on the show she has no storyline (hosting a silly talk show, mooning over Devon, and baby rabies do not qualify as stories) so her exit will have little impact. Here’s hoping she takes Devon with her…

No worries-
They will be writing Summer as a Hillary knock-off.
Summer will take over as being the conniving bitch.
Y&R never hasn’t bad to the bone villains, just bitches and at times a crazy one.
It’s quite a mellow soap, actually.

Bring back Ian Ward!

Timmm…YES…TOTALLY!!!!! To me, Y&R is sorely lacking A REAL VILLAIN!!!!! Bringing Ian Ward back would be BEYOND PERFECT!!!!!

Later.

Well if they use Summer that way I will say she suit’s the role a lot better than that helpless snowflake she use to play.

She is drop dead gorgeous and has a certain genasaqua. However, she was wasted on Devon, aka, DUH YAWN! I fast forwarded through their scenes which means I fast forwarded a lot because they were always on. Why not get rid of HIM, not HER?!!! What a waste.

^^^ “… She is drop dead gorgeous and has a certain genasaqua ”

YEP “she knocked me out and thru me for a loop”

what intrigue she brings

Love your nickname for Devon!

MAL YOUNG – @ TPTB . executive producer !!!! Y&R ( save for Neil Winters, when the writers DEcide to write him ) Your show has the worst token family of color. THIS lady was your gold. you are now down to zilch. zero zippo

you gotta give this bead some merit… of the 4 shows remaining… @DAYS is top of the line.. in comparison to the “other” shows. the value of these 3 remaining shows is without consideration.

I hope this isn’t so… Mal Young .. it’s a glaring observation… being strewn across all sounding board

I wish this lady the best their is. okay.. it was too corny at times what Mishael Morgan’ character “journalistically” had to do for her character profession.. YET .. she gave it her all and we took notice. even with her job and devon… that’s saying a whole lot. she is a big deal who drew audience

I am glad she is leaving. Her character was too unkind for my liking.

I’d imagine that the soap’s actors, many not all, do not want to spend the rest of their careers in a soap opera.
They want to grow, expand into other opportunities.
And, Mishael is a great actress and I’m ok with her getting 0ut of the soap before it’s too late for her.

Soap (lifers)are stereotyped and are not hirable in other genders because they are forever which character they are.

Sooo sorry to see her go ~ she makes the show. It will not be the same.

This is so sad. It seems like every time we have a favorite actress/actor we lose them. This is the second MM we’ve lost. If they stopped bringing in newbies & oldies that nobody wants they could afford the contracts.

Forgive this, I replied to her loss on another spot. She has been one of the most truly standout actors on Young and the Restless. Not sure her roles were always appreciated, but boy could she play them. She has a continence that just surrounds any emotion, and she can do it in seconds. My sense was Y&R was lucky to keep her so long. Wishing the best to her. Not sure how I feel about her role and how it will be handled. Had she stayed, I thought the troubles could be interesting playing a not married couple sharing a child.

Now, my sense is replacing her is going to be difficult. OK writer, satisfy all of us critical viewers!

Sad to see her go. She’s a damn good actress. Do I like Hilary as a character? Not so much and that’s because of Ms. Morgan’s acting. If she doesn’t iron out a new contract with the show, I hope another show picks her up.

Huge disappointment. I hope they recast. Hilary could easily become one of Y&R’s leading ladies. Love Mishael. She’s beautiful and has the best wardrobe in daytime. Will miss both ladies.

I want Mishael to stay – Y&R need to negotiate with her to make this happen.

Mishael is a wonderful actress..However this whole G C Buzz is so fake and over the top…Y And R is better than this!!

This is so sad and the second MM we fan’s have lost. The first being Michael Muhney now Mishael Morgan. If they couldn’t afford to pay her maybe they should have gotten rid of the one’s less popular Charlie/Mattie/Kyle/Summer etc.

Hilary Curtis is a cunt! Glad to see her go.

Sooo GLAD she’s leaving! CAN’T STAND HIllary Curtis!!!

I think she is one of the best actresses on YR. She and Devon needed that time. These two are the only ones I watch. Mariah is the second best. I hate that she had to in love with Tessa. Couldn’t they give her a special man. She is so good. But all the rest is trash. Same mess over and over. Who writes this stuff.

She is from Trinidad and Tobago the GREATEST PLACES…. NOT CANADA

She speaks Canadians English.

I’ve been watching Y&R for over 15 years and Mishael is one of the best actresses’ I’ve ever viewed on the show. Some adjectives to describe her; sassy, upbeat, funny, classy and she grabs your attention with her acting skills. There are not a lot of African Americans on these soaps to begin with that are like her, so I hope she is not leaving because the powers that be failed to reward her and give her a salary that is just and fair with all that she brings to the table to Y&R. All that’s left to say is wherever Mishael goes, then I go. What a HUGE LOSS for Y&R.

She is a superb actress. But if she is leaving because she did not get a raise, that would be a huge mistake for her. Soap Opera actress make HUGE salaries and no one ever heard of Mishael before she appeared on The Young and the Restless. So many soap actress leave for one reason or another and you never see them in anything again.

I REALLY hate to see her go!! I almost feel like cancelling my CBS account and stepping away from the show and I might just do that!!! This REALLY sucks and CBS needs to do something QUICK!!!!!

When I found out the best to every that was played by Hillary is leaving the show, I cried and was upset. If they kill her carther off I will no longer watch the young and restless.

BIG mistake.. the producers should have given her what she wanted, as she is/was a major contributor on the show.

Interesting that many key characters have walked; Chelsea, Ashley, Chloe, Dilion, Kevin, and now Hilary.

Furthermore, Y & R is failing to utilize talented actors such as Michael Baldwin and the always entertaining Gloria. Definitely OK with the scarce appearances of Christine, who (most) always seem to be wrong RE/the guilt/innocence of of those she is investigating!

I wish Mishael well in her future endeavors both professionally and personally. She and her husband have much to look forward to with the upcoming birth of their second child (a girl, who will soon join their family/sibling/son.

You will be missed!

Absolute! I cried like a baby! I hate to see her go. I can’t believe it. Truly saddened.

I am devastated! This is awful! We know you can do something about it! Hillary and Devon brought life to this sometimes boring show.

“Daytime television invites viewers into the private lives of characters, often bringing important issues like cancer screenings into living rooms and around water coolers. Soaps debuted the first cancer storyline in 1962 – years before the topic was discussed in the mainstream, and it left an indelible impact: a whole generation of women who scheduled a potentially life-saving Pap smear for the first time,” said Daytime Stands Up host Alan Locher. “For so many viewers, this brought the issue front and center,” added co-host Michael Fairman. “Today, it’s become almost impossible to avoid; but there is hope with cancer research, thanks to organizations like Stand Up To Cancer.”

SU2C Co-Founder Sue Schwartz, SU2C President and CEO Julian Adams, Ph.D., and SU2C Health Equity Committee Member Elizabeth Jaffee, M.D., will also participate to speak to the importance of early detection, exciting scientific breakthroughs, and the ongoing work yet to be done to make screenings and treatment equitable for all.

Everyone has a story, and we’re grateful to all of you for sharing yours.”

For over 15 years, SU2C has leveraged its relationship with the entertainment community – which includes more than 1,100 celebrity ambassadors – to generate public donations, increase awareness and fund cutting-edge cancer research. SU2C research has contributed to the development of more than 10 scientific breakthroughs that have significantly impacted the field and provided new treatment options for breast, colorectal, lung, melanoma, pancreatic, pediatric and prostate cancers.
