Y&R Casts Its New Adam Newman With Mark Grossman

Photo MGrossmanInstagram

The search is finally over for one of daytime’s most coveted and sought after roles.   Actor Mark Grossman is the new black sheep of the Newman clan, Adam Newman on CBS’ The Young and the Restless.

The role was last played by This Is Us star Justin Hartley (2014-2016), and before that portrayed by Michael Muhney (2009-2014), and Chris Engen (2008-2009).

Daytime Confidential first broke the news, which was then confirmed by Soap Opera Digest.

Grossman’s credits include: Freeform’s Famous In LoveHustle, and a film  said to be currently in production Two Cents from a Pariah.  He also appeared in the film South32 with former One Life to Live and DAYS star, Melissa Archer.

Now, just how Adam returns to the Genoa City canvas with a new face after the explosion where he is believed to have perished, will be of much intrigue.

As of yet, no first airdate has been given for the debut of Grossman.  Stay tuned as more intel comes to light.

So, excited that the character of Adam is coming back to the canvas? What do you think on paper of Grossman as the new bad boy in Genoa City? Comment below.

They should have kept the character dead if they won’t bring either Michael Muhney or Justin Hartley back to the role. Big mistake! I’m not Happy with this turn of events.

Totally agree. How many times can it be done just bc the body wasn’t found. Another Adam…ugh.

Please get rid of the new Adam newman. I hate the replacement Adam Newmam

I wish it was Michael Muhney too. Nothing against Mark Grossman. He actually resembles Michael Muhney a bit.

AGREE!!!!

I completely agree

Ya, it’s not the same! Make this ‘Adam’ go away! He sucks!!

Bring back
Michael Muhney don’t like this Adam not believable as Adam. Too young also

Another new face for Adam? He must have a lot of built up scar tissue.

SUCKS – he’s so “NEW” to the scene.. he doesn’t even have any thing on YouTube… to assess his vibe and/or connect with any thing… so far i’m not getting

AND, yes that has every thing to do with Michael Muhney… @CBS you are losing right out of the gate

“He doesn’t have anything on YouTube?” LOL. He was on a Primetime show and had done a ton of primetime TV movies. Look at his IMDB and watch the movies or Famous in Love.

What prime time?

Should have rehired Michael mulcaney

I’ve never heard of Mark Grossman. So, this will be interesting to see how he works himself into the canvas of Y&R.

Excited but at 32 years old seems way too young to play Adam. He looks more like part of the teen set.

hi Mika..
He looks teenyeenie LOL
How old is Adam,45ish?
this new Adam looks very young to be thee Adam..

Actually, SusieQ, the REAL Adam should be younger than Nick…..waaaay younger than Nick. TPTB aged him….and Muhney was not the original Adam. So, Mark is actually the right age??
Of course, I would have preferred Muhney, myself…..but, I have given up hope, su…..he left too much garbage behind; according to some.
Hmmmm…..you don’t like teenie-tiny, su? Let’s just see how this new guy struts his stuff. You know we’ll be first to give an opinion. Yes?LOL.

No Adan is the same age as Victoria, actually! Victor didn’t know that he was even born. He didn’t xome in until his Mom was dying.

My gradmother has been watching Y&R since its inception. Victoria was born in 1982; Nick in 1988 and Adam in 1995. Abby, the baby, was born in 2000.
Obviously, it’s a soap, and children are rapidly aged….Nevertheless, Victoria is the eldest.
Victor did not find out Adam was his when Hope died. He knew well before that—-went to visit them in Kansas where Victor had met Hope.
However, because Hope did not want to disrupt Adam’s life ( we first met him as a little boy while his mother was married to someone else), he asked Victor to not reveal his real identity as Adam thought the other “guy” was his father.
Sorry to disagree with you, but you do have your facts somewhat eschewed.
Victor’s first wife Julia miscarried his first child in 1980.

Amen to that!

My thoughts exactly! Just seen him today and am so disappointed. They did not find the right person for this character!!

He’s got the Adam-look–manly face—what’s it hiding? Where has he been? Is Chelsea with him?–together all this time? Does he have amnesia? A brain tumor? LOL.
We all knew he’d be coming back….I am soooo looking forward to a new storyline—-especially with Adam. I hope Mark meets Adam’s qualities and not turn him into another persona….like a mushy-good guy. A little devilish imp in his brain (a fundamentally benign one) will be welcomed. I love oxymorons!! Please let this Adam be one.

Hi Celia. You always have positive posts and it’s great that you are giving the new actor a chance. Yes, that grin says watch out Genoa City! I can’t wait to see what the new regime has in store.

Awwww…Thank you, my friend. And, YOU are always so very kind.
Everyone should always be given a chance in life ….all aspects of it!! ❤️

Hi celia..:)
I gotta say;

Michael Muhney, Michael Muhney, Michael Muhney or just let Adam RIP !

(I’m tired of Phoney Adams.. LOL

I checked him out on Instagram…
his phots there (100’s of them) he looks much better, he is OK, yes he is..:)

((his photo here he looks dorky lol))

Nope, his story is long played out.

He will never replace Justin Hartley

Okay, everyone please give this young man a chance–he doesn’t just have one pair of shoes to fill, he has two. His predecessors were both fantastic in their own ways.
My only objection is why give Adam a third face? We often have recasts and there is no explanation as to why the character looks different. For an example of that look no further than at the role of Kyle Abbott who has been played by at least three different actors. The Three Faces of Eve? Try the Three Faces of Adam. No explanation necessary!

Hi Harry, hope you’re doing well-
Why, oh why- can’t they simply say; the part of Adam in being played by…..

All this overkill of new face jobes/whatever is nonsense, actually.

Keep it simple is always best..

I wouldnt explain his face. Lets just let him fly and see if it works.

We don’t know that’s how the storyline is going to be written.

I’m not attracted to him- that is minus 1..
And-
MM, if not MM (he is rightfully Adam) I really don’t care.

I don’t want another puffy lil’ weenier guy on my screen..
If he can’t deliver a Strong vivid/viral man then he is FF.

Well, time will tell I hope he doesn’t disappoint me.
Michel Muhney or bust- I say..

“Michael Muhney or bust- I say..” ABSOLUTELY

I’m having a – HEEBIE JEEBIE – moment

^^^ that pic above… reeks too much of “Victor”

in the eyes , and
that snarky pleased with himself, express

Oh God , no !!! two for 1

if his acting is OFF… that’s okay with me as it’s just a reminder of Victor any way.

He doesn’t have that je ne sais quoi QUALITY… because his character is so tour de force .. Adams is JUST their so present and consuming.

if it’s a let down… and it understandably very well could… after thee greatest Michael Muhney AND Justin Hartley, respectively

even knowing ALL the excitement post haste for a new head writing team AND executive producer… THIS MOVE IS HUGE ! so if it’s not working they better rectify AND clean it up fast.

for however long this genre exists… poo poo on moral standards with regard to behind the scenes machinations … this is a business… Michael Muhney IS A bonanza with a ratings grab like no other

Hi Patrick–
what can we say lol
there’s an old saying-
”–in one hand — in the other” ahaa!

I wasn’t watching Y&R (as many others) from its creation so- Michael Muhney is my Adam..

Still, this Adam might not be so bad, he might even be good, but, he is not Michael Muhney 🙁

SuOO. One thing about you which I don’t dislike is your inability to tell us how you really feel. Don’t hold back! Pick a lane!

I’m disappointed!

I wish Mark, all the best. Let’s give him a chance. Hopefully he can act and win us over. He is cute and 32 years old.

Looks more like he should be going to prep school or college. Hopefully this photo was from his year book.

Finally Adam comes home!!!

In history of the character Adam was much younger then Nick and Victoria so they finally are age appropriate ! Just really not up for MCE returning sorry but I knew JG was going this direction ! Will see if he is more then a handsome face! As far as MM he was great but situations happened and politics are involved in everything!

Mark congrats on your new role, I hope we see you for a long time as the new, Adam Newman. I will be watching you on Y&R and hopefully Chelsea comes back with you.

I looked him up. Never heard of him or seen anything he’s been in. This should be interesting.

Justin left some huge shoes to fill. This guy needs to knock it out of the ballpark. And he’s such a rookie. Not hopeful.

Well, look at Kyle, I was skeptical when I first saw the recast but he has been great! This new Adam could be a star in the making or a bust but lets see what he has.

Excellent point, Timm. I hated Kyle when I first saw him and now I see he positively lights up the screen with his charisma.

I’m not feeling it.

What about Chelsea?

I heard he would be an actor w/ 10 different personalities; and he’s coming well equipped, where people would like him right off. He’s good & knows his stuff; according to other actors. So give him a chance b4 you write him off.

I haven’t written him off. I want to like him, but right now, he needs to win me over.

Well, I am team MUHNEY. BUT, I am not ignorant, I will keep an opened mind. Eric Braeden doesnt want him back on the show and thats the beginning and end of it! I didnt care for Hartley as a recast and he blossomed into a huge star. He was too soft of an Adam. I liked Muhney’s evilness and charm! This guy looks more like an evil version of Adam. If he can act, great! I would like to see Chloe and Kevin back. I DO NOT want Chelsea back! Lets go!

This is a terrible decision and I for sure will not return to watching. I wish this guy the best — in any other role. What is wrong with The Young and the Restless powerpeople, Sony powerpeople, and CBS powerpeople. Michael Muhney is an electrifying actor, raises the entire cast — especially Eric Braeden’s acting – -making it a “must-watch” show —- so what do these power people do —- they hire this guy. I will not return to watching. And, I am actually angry.

“Thank You” I am in complete agreement… even knowing their is a new head writing “team” in place… w/ a bad executive producer move.. right out of the gate- sure gnaws at ones commitment to give this show another shot. I don’t think so. this cast , can sing to the heavens how long they are #1. bearing in mind in it’s hey day… NOW currently only achieves a 1/3 of the ratings grab it once held.. respectively. not any more.

who knows how long this genre exists…. did CBS AND Y&R have any fight at all ? to fight for Michael Muhney . Justin Hartley also “knocked” it out of the park.. just not in the same arena or threshold an actor Of Michael caliber.

The Newmans are not thee first family of Y&R.. that belongs to the Abbott. forevermore

Y&R has never been the same since Michael Muhney w/Sharon Case ; Billy Miller w/Amelia Heinle.

letting things be – one can cheer and pom pom circumstance . no Michael Muhney … lackey show

Give the kid a chance!!!

NO – the people in charge do not care about the fans and I do not like how they have treated the fans and MM. H

Seems Y&R wants us to again forget the last couple of years. This si the second time Adam as arisen from the ashes. I know it is a trope — ATWT’s Stenbeck, DOOL’s diMera, CH’s Cassadine — but… I am no fan of it, especially here.

If are rebooting then let’s move forward. First, I would just have him return and maybe we can ‘forget’ that whole plastic surgery thing. I mean, if JT’s actions can be explained away by a brain tumor (!?!?!?!?!?). When Adam returns — and that does open up stories about legacy characters which a vocal anti-Rosales set has requested — I want some updates on Chloe, Kevin, Chelsea, and Connor, too. I found Adam’s stories to be so wacky and out-of-left-field — the volcano, that misfire Goth nightmare surrounding Faith’s birth, the Gabriel thing — but I did like the Delia hit-and-run story as it was real and caused waves for everyone. If Mr. Grossman does not work out, just recast. No missing body. No plastic surgery. No brain-controlling computer chip. No baby switches.

I might be one of only a handful of people out there that watched and liked Famous in Love– he was playing a stalker—in that role he went from sweet and nice, to crazy wacko at the end– so he has range. The thing is MM was so good in the role of Adam that even now years later it is hard to forget his take on the character. Justin was good, but for me he was more Gabe than Adam.

I honestly think it would have been better to invent a whole new character– maybe Hope had another son and never told Victor; she gave him away for adoption, and this guy could have been Adam’s brother who finds his bio Daddy– fresh blood for Victor to corrupt. I think if they went that route instead of trying recapture the magic that was MM’s Adam they would have been better off.

glad Adam’s back, but this Adam looks a little young

Y&R…whatever you do, seriously keep this Mark Grossman dude FAR, FAR, FAR AWAY from that TROUBLEMAKING Hunter King!!!!! Just saying…

Later.

She is not the problem she was paid and paid well ! Mm needs to get a real estate license and move on they ruined him !!! Who do you think put that garbage out??? AM and her husband who works for tmz !!! Do you learn nothing ???

Kay…look…I never liked the character of Summer…and I’m NOT a fan of Hunter King. Oh…and to answer your question…in my own way, I am MORE THAN FAR FROM STUPID!!!!!

Kay…you have a good day.

Kay…one final thing: I’m DONE discussing this.

Take care.

LOL, Jay….you never cease to entertain me, my friend….
I hope you don’t mean romantically? Summer is Adam’s niece…
But, if you are referring to the politics going on behind the scenes….well, yeah!! Absolutely!! NuAdam may look at her ‘askance “, and taken as lascivious. Who knows?? Everyone has been so tight-lipped ( which is a good thing) about what really happened. Still guessing!! Can’t really blame any newcomer’s mistrust, if he is aware of what went down. Agree with you!!
Ciao❤️

He’s not a good fix…you need someone as good looking as the last 2….and how do you get out of blowing up? Love the idea of him coming back, but……

You can get out of it by making Gabe an imposter. He knew Adam and took over his life. The real Adam was safe and sound in a basement somewhere or no plastic surgery everyone just remarks Adam you are no longer blond and let that be the end of it.

The character Adam Newman was born in 1995! The character Victoria 1982 the character Nick 1988!

Sill say they should have let the character RIP now another 450 rewrite exhausting and it’s not going to make people come back Sally & Kay knew that .

Thank you Kay. Then Adam
Should be about 24.

Yes, Adam should be 24, and Abby about 19, Harry—my grandmother keeps harping on these discrepancies. Drives her nuts, LOL.
I remember when Abby was born ( 2000–I was fourteen)…now she’s older than I am. Surreal…
Chronologically, both Amelia and Joshua are older than their characters—
Summer should be 14, LOL…..the girl has been around the block and back—and only 14. HaHa!!

Way, way too young!!! Michael Mulney should have been the one. Wanted a mature, strong Adam….someone to take over when Victor checks out.

Should have brought back Michael Muhney, that’s the one & only Adam Newman. The Y&R really messed up

I hope they just say “the rule of Adam Newman is now being played by Marc Grossman.” It’s not necessary to have a whole new face storyline. Characters are recast ALL the time. It’s like if they made Phyllis have an accident and new face just for Michelle Stafford coming back. Silly. I am one of those people that wanted Muhney but understand why the show didn’t want him back. His cray fans think they know all the answers just because “he said so.” That’s not the way it works. They are in deep denial because a show will always bring back an actor if they could. Eric Braeden doesn’t make the rules there and he and Michael made peace per michaels own words. Lastly, I’m bothered that MM never made a public statement about the death of Kristoff St John. Kinda gross.

Michael Muhney coming back as Adam would have been ideal.
This guy has big shoes to fill. I wish him luck.

The 2 best actors tht played Adam Neumann was Justin Hartley Michael Muhney this Mark Grossman he looks to young don’t kno why U don’t bring back Justin he is so sexy he is just gorgeous & so is Michael they really fit the part as bad boy Adam especially Michael Muhney bring 1 of them back PLEASE!!!!!!! They make the whole show

I think its stupid, no amount of plastic surgery could make you 13 yrs younger and about 4 or 5 inches shorter and bone structure skinnier. Maybe he’s an imposter and Michael Muhney will return as the real Adam Newman! Do you think the writers are that smart and good?

I do NOT like Mark Grossman as Adam AT ALL!

Not impressed they should have brought back Michael Munhey, he was the best in that role.

This new Adam is way to young and doesn’t have the same swag as Michael Mahoney Or Justin

Bring back Michael pleaseeeeess

He’s on now. Looks like a weak pretty boy that should NOT be playing Adam. This show has gone to the dogs.

The only Adam was and always b Michael Muhney. Whoever makes those decisions should b fired. Y&r was once the best now it’s not even watchable,

Michael Muhney the one and only Adam. This new one looks like the typical average cookie cutter soap actor. Y&R u r better than this. Bring back Michael. SOON!!!!

Hopefully this will make y&r even more suspenseful.

I believe this new Adam is an imposter, with intentions of bringing Victor down once he has gained the trust of the Newman clan. That to me is more believable than Adam surviving the blast ending up in Vegas with amnesia.
Mark my words something is not legit about this new Adam Newman.

Tuesday ep: as soon as he came on screen… “no go” first impression

he doesn’t have that stand alone LOOK.. along with acting chop… hard to come by
he has to set apart.. because of his looks, his vocabulary, his presence, his astuteness, his chemistry with allure.. and he’d better be the better part of sex

Michael Muhney ; Justin Hartley irreplaceable

this one note replacement is no doozy

it occurred to me that this was intentional… after all… after these two STUD
Nicholas all but disappeared , NO ? Joshua Morrow who?

so why not level the playing field.. AND bring MORE to the lacking NewMAN familial ?

alas, who’s to say what the executive producer intention

sorry

Bring back the other guys

The new Adam sucks. He doesn’t even fit into the role. We need Michael back. This one just doesn’t give me the Adam vibe at all.

This actor looks like he just graduated high school and he acts like it also. Why could you not bring back MM the person we all wanted?

He is not even close to old adam he is sleazy and does not fit

He’s terrible

I don’t like this guys looks or whole vibe the previous guy was perfect for the role.. Big mistake with grossman.. Bring back Muhney

After various reports surfaced, it has been confirmed that Patrick Mulcahey is out as the co-head writer of General Hospital. This is after a very short tenure of under five months.

Soap Opera Network is reporting that Korte has assumed the head writing duties solely on her own at the moment, while Buzz blog initially reported Mulcahey’s exit.

“Daytime television invites viewers into the private lives of characters, often bringing important issues like cancer screenings into living rooms and around water coolers. Soaps debuted the first cancer storyline in 1962 – years before the topic was discussed in the mainstream, and it left an indelible impact: a whole generation of women who scheduled a potentially life-saving Pap smear for the first time,” said Daytime Stands Up host Alan Locher. “For so many viewers, this brought the issue front and center,” added co-host Michael Fairman. “Today, it’s become almost impossible to avoid; but there is hope with cancer research, thanks to organizations like Stand Up To Cancer.”

SU2C Co-Founder Sue Schwartz, SU2C President and CEO Julian Adams, Ph.D., and SU2C Health Equity Committee Member Elizabeth Jaffee, M.D., will also participate to speak to the importance of early detection, exciting scientific breakthroughs, and the ongoing work yet to be done to make screenings and treatment equitable for all.

“This year, an estimated 2 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer, presenting an opportunity for the public to stand with us and rise to the occasion,” said Adams. “We’re thankful to Alan Locher, Michael Fairman and our friends from the daytime television community, who will raise critical funding to honor those we’ve lost – and to propel new scientific breakthroughs for current and future patients. Everyone has a story, and we’re grateful to all of you for sharing yours.”

For over 15 years, SU2C has leveraged its relationship with the entertainment community – which includes more than 1,100 celebrity ambassadors – to generate public donations, increase awareness and fund cutting-edge cancer research. SU2C research has contributed to the development of more than 10 scientific breakthroughs that have significantly impacted the field and provided new treatment options for breast, colorectal, lung, melanoma, pancreatic, pediatric and prostate cancers.
