CBS Cancels ‘All Rise’ Featuring Soap Alums Wilson Bethel and Marg Helgenberger

Photos: CBS

The cancellations continue and now comes word via CBS they have chosen not to renew the legal courtroom drama, All Rise.

The series aired for two seasons and featured in its ensemble cast, former The Young and the Restless star, Wilson Bethel (Ex-Ryder) and former Ryan’s Hope favorite, Marg Helgenberger (Ex-Siobhan).

The final episode will air on Monday, May 24th.

All Rise has also seen plenty of drama behind the scenes this year when the All Rise creator and showrunner, Greg Spottiswood was ousted amid allegations of unprofessional conduct in the series’ writers room where he offered up offensive and racially insensitive language.

Since his departure, Dee Harris-Lawrence had served as the one and only showrunner for the series.

So, did you enjoy All Rise? Where do you hope Wilson and Marg turn up next? Comment below.

Not a good year for the “woke” lawyer shows, apparently. ABC also dropped the ax on their show “For Life”.

Neither show was my favorite, but there are far worse things on both networks they could have cancelled instead.

And speaking of ABC and axes dropping…. why the Hell haven’t they mentioned anything about a General Hospital renewal yet? This is making a Devil slightly nervous. Though at this point, I can’t possibly see how the network would NOT want to go for the “bragging rights” of keeping a show on the air for 60 years. Theoretically that keeps GH safe until 2023. But I wouldn’t bet your soul on this just yet. Hell only knows what these network suits are thinking half the time.

I LOVE this show; so upset to hear this.

With all of the behind the scenes crap that happened and the pandemic screwing with when the episodes would air, this is not surprising. I’m just saddened by the news.

This is nobody’s fault I’m chuckling Hollywood has called us all names now it’s blowing up in your face you are the problem not us !! Chew on that for a while leave us alone your accusations are pointing the finger at someone beside yourself! As long as you were making money it did not matter how you treated people so own your crap

We watch nothing but old series etc I won’t be a part of your nonsense !!! You deal with it

The show was promising the first season, but the second season suffered. I watch TV to be entertained, and the COVID impact on the show was not entertaining. I know they tried to be realistic, but it lost its focus.

So sorry to see All Rise go. My family really enjoyed this series.

Breaking News

Patrick Mulcahey OUT as General Hospital Co-Head Writer

After various reports surfaced, it has been confirmed that Patrick Mulcahey is out as the co-head writer of General Hospital. This is after a very short tenure of under five months.

Mulcahey was named to the position back in January of 2024 along with longtime GH writer Elizabeth Korte. They replaced the team of Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor, who had been the head scribes of the long-running ABC daytime drama since 2019.

A source informed Soap Opera Digest that stories created by the co-head writing team of  Mulcahey/Korte team will air through mid-summer. However they added “There will be more news to share at a later date as to the composition of the new writing team.”

In addition, eagle-eyed soap fans have seen that in recent episodes former co-head writer, Chris Van Etten has been credited, as he is reportedly a breakdown writer with the show.

Soap Opera Network is reporting that Korte has assumed the head writing duties solely on her own at the moment, while Buzz blog initially reported Mulcahey’s exit.

We will have more on the GH writing team evolution in the days ahead.
