Photo: CBS

Not only is The Young and the Restless Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) an icon of daytime drama, but she is also a huge Lucille Ball enthusiast. So much so, that Melody is bringing her special show, Always Young & Restless:  An Evening with Melody Thomas Scott to the Lucille Ball Little Theatre in Jamestown, New York, for two fundraisers on Tuesday, August 15th at 7:30-9pm and 9:30-11pm.

In a statement on the event, Melody expressed: “I’ve admired Lucille Ball my entire life and am so looking forward to raising money for the Lucille Ball Little Theatre. It’s a great opportunity to both support the arts and honor Lucy, a legendary Jamestown native who’s kept the world laughing for more than 70 years. I always enjoy spending time with my fans who have been so loyal to me and ‘Nikki’ all these years.”

Always Young & Restless:  An Evening with Melody Thomas Scott will be held at the Theatre, 18 E. Second Street in Jamestown, New York. Scott will take the stage and reflect on her career as she shares personal photos and video clips of some of her most memorable Hollywood moments while interacting with the audience and taking their questions. Autographed copies of her memoir, Always Young and Restless: My Life On and Off America’s #1 Daytime Drama, will be available in the lobby before the event, with 100% of the proceeds benefitting the theatre.

For a more personal touch, also available is The VIP Experience with Melody Thomas Scott which includes a ticket to the theatre event as well as one to a special gala reception in Melody’s honor from 9:30-11 p.m. Price for this package is $150 and is limited to just 65 tickets. After enjoying premium seating at the Lucille Ball Little Theatre, these 65 ticket holders will meet Scott one-on-one at the reception for photos and autographs. A silent auction featuring several pieces of unique memorabilia donated by Scott; including a Y&R script signed by several cast members and an iconic piece from Nikki’s wardrobe will also be part of the gala.

Holly Weston, board president of the Lucille Ball Little Theatre of Jamestown shared, “An opportunity like this has never happened before for Little Theatre. A veteran television actress who has been part of our daytime TV viewing lives for decades has reached out to us and offered to come to Jamestown and present a show and a reception – all at her own expense and with all proceeds benefitting the Lucille Ball Little Theatre. At a time when so many nonprofits are struggling with the financial aftereffects of the pandemic, we have Melody to help us through it, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”

Tickets and more details on both events can be found here.

Whatever this woman is doing she looks absolutely wonderful she just turned 67 and she looks great! I just wish she had a Emmy she has been great all these years on this soap

She does look fabulous, but her photos are airbrushed. I think it’s a shame because she’s still got it, wrinkles and all. She’s beautiful just as is looks in real life; no need for the airbrushing.

Melody is always a joy whatever she does! I had no idea she was a Lucy fan how neat!

Patrick Mulcahey OUT as General Hospital Co-Head Writer

After various reports surfaced, it has been confirmed that Patrick Mulcahey is out as the co-head writer of General Hospital. This is after a very short tenure of under five months.

Mulcahey was named to the position back in January of 2024 along with longtime GH writer Elizabeth Korte. They replaced the team of Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor, who had been the head scribes of the long-running ABC daytime drama since 2019.

A source informed Soap Opera Digest that stories created by the co-head writing team of  Mulcahey/Korte team will air through mid-summer. However they added “There will be more news to share at a later date as to the composition of the new writing team.”

In addition, eagle-eyed soap fans have seen that in recent episodes former co-head writer, Chris Van Etten has been credited, as he is reportedly a breakdown writer with the show.

Soap Opera Network is reporting that Korte has assumed the head writing duties solely on her own at the moment, while Buzz blog initially reported Mulcahey’s exit.

We will have more on the GH writing team evolution in the days ahead.
