Veronica Redd Returns to The Young and the Restless

Photo: JPI

Look for fan favorite Veronica Redd to reprise her role of The Young and the Restless’ Mamie Johnson beginning with the September 26th episode of the CBS daytime drama series.

Redd was last seen on the soap opera back in March of this year for the Bicentennial Gala which coincided with Y&R’s 50th anniversary.

Mamie was the housekeeper of the Abbott clan, and is the great Aunt to Lily, Devon and Nate. When Redd first took over the role from Marguerite Ray, her initial run was from 1990-1995, and then she had another lengthy stay in Genoa Cfrom 1999-2004.

Not one to not speak her mind, Mamie may have some choice words for Jack, Ashley, Traci, Billy and of course, Jill, when she comes back to town.

Looking forward to seeing Veronica reprise her role as Mamie on Y&R? Comment below.

I can think of million other y and r cast members I’d rather see than her

Same here. I never cared for her,

FABULOUS MAMIE ! Welcome back! ❤️

The Abbotts have always been my favorite GC family… until the return of Diane. Maybe the presence of Mamie will make it seem more homey again.

Bringing Diane back was one of the best things the producers have done.

No, they’re just bringing her back to take care of the forgotten about Harrison. Can Maime please slap Kyle when she gets back into the house?

Absolutely! Especially if Jill is in town.

If she is coming back then she should be involved with getting in the faces of Nate Devon and Lilly ! I have been screaming that they need some direction because they are all literally stupid since we can’t get a recast Olivia which I personally would be up for then Mamie hate that name. Bring it on kick those brats to the curb

Nate , def ! Brats ? If we are talking stupid is the entire show ! What exactly are you complaining about ?

Would love to see Drucilla back

I remember Mamie & John Abbot married at the end and she was once the Lady of the house . He left her well provided for . Why is this never mention? Jill gave her1 million dollars? Please clarify friends !?

They never married. She wanted him but it never happened.

Mamie and John never married. He was married to Jill who Mamie hated and didn’t trust, knowing she’d hurt John who suffered a stroke and eventually told John she had feelings for and he reciprocated , but Jill found out and offered Mamie the million dollars to leave town before anything could come of it.When John slipped into a coma Mamie accepted Jill’s offer and left town. John recovered and stayed with Jill for Billy’s sake.

Never cared for her.

Bring her back full-time! The Barber/Winters crew needs a matriarch, and the Abbotts could like likewise use her maternal wisdom. And in Katherine’s unfortunate absence, Mamie can give Jill a run for her money!

She’s not the ” old” Mamie. She’s as controlling as the rest of them, thanks to Jill and her million dollars.

Please get rid of the grey braids

OMG, looks like she’s knitting a sweater up on her head. I guess she thinks it looks good oh well.

Patrick Mulcahey OUT as General Hospital Co-Head Writer

After various reports surfaced, it has been confirmed that Patrick Mulcahey is out as the co-head writer of General Hospital. This is after a very short tenure of under five months.

Mulcahey was named to the position back in January of 2024 along with longtime GH writer Elizabeth Korte. They replaced the team of Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor, who had been the head scribes of the long-running ABC daytime drama since 2019.

A source informed Soap Opera Digest that stories created by the co-head writing team of  Mulcahey/Korte team will air through mid-summer. However they added “There will be more news to share at a later date as to the composition of the new writing team.”

In addition, eagle-eyed soap fans have seen that in recent episodes former co-head writer, Chris Van Etten has been credited, as he is reportedly a breakdown writer with the show.

Soap Opera Network is reporting that Korte has assumed the head writing duties solely on her own at the moment, while Buzz blog initially reported Mulcahey’s exit.

We will have more on the GH writing team evolution in the days ahead.
