What a whirlwind few years Rob Scott Wilson had had in the daytime television and soap opera landscape! Starting off as the first male model of the iconic CBS game show The Price is Right, to next landing a primo role as Pete Cortlandt on Prospect Park’s reboot of the iconic All My Children, to now landing on the longest-running scripted television show in NBC history, Days of our Lives!

As fans know, Rob replaced Justin Gatson in the role of Ben in Salem.  And this week with the arrival of Ben and Jordan’s (Chrishell Stause) dangerous dad Clyde on the scene, it looks like trouble is ahead for these siblings!

To say Rob has had a bit of a charmed life over the last couple of years is something that the earnest and sincere Wilson knows full well, and his appreciation of it shows through whenever you speak with him.  On-Air On-Soaps had a few minutes to catch up with Rob during Daytime Emmy weekend!

Rob on how he landed the role of Ben on DAYS: “Well, I found a new home… someone picked me up off the street and gave me a new job! (Laughs)  I was actually back home for Christmas, and DAYS had asked me about an audition for this right before I left, and I had already changed my flight two times for other projects, and so I needed to just go home.  So I went home to reconnect and recollect myself, and I got a call and they offered me the role! I started a week after Christmas. ”

Rob on his time with All My Children: “I loved everyone at AMC.  It was such a family. I am very happy where I am with DAYS, but obviously, I miss those faces at All My Children.

Rob on working with Chrishell Stause as his on-screen DAYS sister:   “Chrishell is Awesome … she is like my sister!  I work with her all the time and again, I got very lucky to work with such great people, who I have such great rapport with.”

Rob on the secrets that Ben is running from:  “Ben is a good guy and he is running from his past, but he has a temper, and that temper can possibly land him in some trouble.  We shot so much and we are so far ahead at DAYS, but I can say …. there is so much to learn about Ben and a lot of story and I can’t wait for everybody to see it. ”

How do you like Rob as the new Ben on Days of our Lives? Now that his father Clyde is in the picture, what do you think will be revealed?  Share your thoughts below!

LOVE him! LOVE DAYS which is a TREAT to watch every day unlike the other shows which is a CHORE but they all have their moments. 🙂

Am definitely enjoying Rob in this roll. He is finding his groove and will do great. I still miss AMC. Thought he was doing a terrific job as Pete.

I think Jordan, being older than Ben, ran away from her abusive father, leaving Ben behind. She probably thought it best to venture out alone until such time she would be situated. She would then collect Ben in due time. I had predicted this a while ago. She probably had to steal to survive, hence she needed to continuously change her identity for self-preservation. Is she also running from the law? There is a good chance she is, as we know that she resorted to kidnapping a very young Ben who was their father’s punching bag and at his mercy. And/or something else? I also believe Clyde is a filthy drunk. All hell will break loose for Kate when/if something really perilous happens to either Jordan or Ben….or both.

I was too busy to watch all of days the last two days but i caught a scene with Kate talking to Clyde in the Bradys Pub?…that wouldnt make sense for them to meet in public especially there of all places where they could be easily seen together by Jordon, Ben and Rafe who could easily figure out Kate is responsible for Clyde showing up in Salem…am i right or wrong???

Of course you are right, jimh. You always are…and, you always make sense, unlike some of the scenes that just don’t compute. But, all soaps do this at one point or other. One would think Kate would be more subtle when meeting with unsavory men in public places.
The same scenario played out on GH where Anna “secretely” met with Jordan, sitting back to back on a park bench, talking away and trying to appear they did not know each other. Well, that failed miserably…it was laughable. That scene looked like child’s-play. Really?
I must admit that this past week, the writers excelled with Sami/EJ/Abbi/Jen, etc. scenes, but then said writers trip themselves up by disregarding these little, big mistakes (pardon the oxymoron ).

I complained about that GH scene with Anna/Jordan too…other than that Kate/Clyde scene Days has been pretty good recently…i was started to get a little bored there but once again im enjoying the show…i like those scenes with Hope and Aiden when they were dancing…nice little old fashion romantic moment which had been sorely lacking on all the soaps! Need more of that!!!

i would watch him read the newspaper.

The first actor who played Ben IMO wasn’t a good actor he was kinda plain in my book. I am glad they recast him with Rob Scott Wilson. He is just a phenomenal actor. He played such a great Pet Cortland on the short run of PP AMC. When they cast Rob Scott Wilson as Pet Cortland not as a Nerdy Pet but a whole new Pet back to town as a young business tycoon like his Daddy Palmer. And Came back home with his Ma Ma Opal to help save Cortland Enterprise. Now Seeing him playing a totally different roll as Ben. witch Ben is keep to himself guy cause of his past. And left with his sister Jordon to get away from there abusive farther and start a brand new life for them self. Now once Daddy Clyde in town (THANKS TO KATE)! And once they see good Ole’ Daddy Dear a lot of Heck is going to break loose. And I feel with Rob Scott Wilson as Ben he will let his anger and probably kill his farther cause of everything he has done to him and Jordon !! IMO!

Eh… not so much for me… I fast forward through his scenes to be honest… as I do with Jordan… Loved the actress on AMC but really not feeling the character on Days. She needs to get more SPICE….a little more feisty would do it….

I have to agree – she was great on AMC but so far on Days, her character is kind of a little boring – and as far as the character of Ben goes, well, gee, nothing too thrilling there either. Trying to be fair, I guess we have to give them a chance to breathe life into these two characters – they’re both capable actors, the writers I think just need to speed it up a little.

This was a great recast by DOOL..This young actor has the “it” factor and not just looks..He was good over PP’s AMC and it doing good over at DOOL…The story of Jordan and Ben has been dragged for sooo long, record breaking LOOONG..I hope the writers will reward us with a great story about them and their father and get this story moving.

Amen to that, the writers need to get a move on with these two characters.

So far so good. This story involving Ben, Jordan and Clyde is in it’s initial stages but if they play all the beats and (in time), make sure to ultimately bring in Kate’s machinations that brought Clyde to Salem, this should be a tale that gives each actor plenty of good material to sink their teeth into.

I agree, Beth. Each actor involved in this storyline has sunk his /her teeth into it, as you say, especially Scott/Ben. He is doing a fantastic job…I admire his courage to finally stand up to his father. It must give him such a sense of empowerment to confront Clyde as an adult…as his equal in every way , albeit a much better person than his degenerate parent. I wasn’t into this storyline originally, but it is getting more suspenseful and cryptic with each episode…very interesting and an attention grabber. The pieces are coming together logically.
I believe there is a lot more to be told and we are being fed small tid-bits at a time. Will there be a big reveal? A shocker? I think this is exactly where this story is headed…can’t wait!

I must add that Clyde said something about leaving “the company” in someone else’s hands. Were we mislead into thinking Clyde was penniless? Are we to believe he’s a wealthy maniac/perv? Just a thought…

Maybe Clyde is really wealthy and he, Jordon and Ben will become the new ‘Dimeras’ of Salem and their mother isnt really dead…its Kristen Dimera and John Black is Jordons real father? Its revealed during Kristens shocking return!!!! Probably not but it sure would tie them in to legacy characters in Salem and make the story more interesting…imo!!!

I like that idea a lot, Jim h!

The character of Ben Rogers just does not spark with me, and recasting the role was a big flub. I see it as a Taylor Walker redux; I was just getting used to Justin in the role, and they recast him. I’ve never been a huge fan of Rob in the first place, and while he is a fellow Bostonian, I’m just not sold on him at all. He does zero for me.

Patrick Muldoon and Jennifer Taylor Cast as Mike Manning’s Conservative Parents on ‘The Bay’

The ever-expanding cast of the streaming soap opera, The Bay, has announced two new additions for its upcoming 9th season, including Days of our Lives favorite Patrick Muldoon (ex-Austin Reed). TV fans also know Patrick Muldoon from his role as Richard Hart on Melrose Place.

In story, The Bay will bring Caleb McKinnon’s parents into the mix. Caleb is played by Daytime Emmy-winner and Outstanding Supporting Actor nominee this year, Mike Manning.

According to Deadline, Muldoon, along with Jennifer Taylor (Two and a Half Men), will play Caleb’s ultra-conservative parents. When Caleb married Daniel Garrett (Eric Nelsen), they all but abandoned him.  The season looks to bring a major story for Manning and hopefully and eventually love and acceptance from Caleb’s parents.

The casting news doesn’t stop there. Rhonda Ross has been tapped to play Colleen Givens, the biological mother of Pete Garrett’s (Kristos Andrews) wife Vivian (Karrueche Tran) in the new season.

Coleen is brought into the mix when Pete searches for Colleen after Vivian becomes ill. In the backstory, Colleen is a jazz singer who gave Vivian up for adoption at birth. Now she may be Vivian’s only hope to stay alive.

The series is up for 5 Daytime Emmy nomination at the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards on June 7th including: Outstanding Drama Series, Writing,  Directing, A Martinez (Nard0) for Supporting Actor and the aforementioned Manning.
