AEW All Out 2024: Jon Moxley and the BCC Turn on Bryan Danielson, Hangman Adam Page Defeats Swerve Strickland in Brutal Ending

In what has to be one of the most violent and brutal pro wrestling premium live events in a very long time, AEW’s All Out on Saturday, September 7th from Chicago, Illinois took things to another level with several shocking moments that has the show trending on X not only on Saturday but on Sunday too.

The takeaways were the jaw-dropping moments at the conclusion of the Jack Perry vs. AEW champ Bryan Danielson match with the “Scapegoat’s’ attempt to claim another championship belt around his waist.  Perry delivered one of the strongest in-ring performances of his career, and that should not be left out of this discussion.

After Danielson got the pin on Perry, all of a sudden Killswitch (the former Luchasauras and tag partner with Perry) came into the ring for a standoff with his former friend. Next, Christian Cage and the Patriarchy came down to the ring with Cage having his “cash-in” opportunity at any time to go after the AEW World Championship. As he comes down the ramp (ready to take advantage of Danielson) after his grueling match with Perry, all of a sudden the Blackpool Combat Club come to the seeming defense of Danielson, backing up Cage and the Patriarchy to whence they came.

Next, Moxley climbed into the win and hugged it out with Danielson. Just then, Claudio Castagnoli laid out Danielson with his signature European uppercut. As Danielson looked completely stunned, Moxley pulled a plastic bag out from his pocket and began to suffocate Danielson. PAC held back Wheeler Yuta who idolizes Danielson, as Marina Shafir came in and took out the referee.

Finally, the BCC members left the ring, while Yuta stayed behind along with the medics and officials from AEW tending to Danielson. Fans in the audience were chanting “This is murder!'”

In the second main event, and the final match of the night it was Hangman Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland in an unsanctioned steel cage match where the two upped up the brutality meter 10 decibels more than in their previous two heinous match-ups.

From cider blocks, to barbed wire, to staple guns, anything goes, but in the final moments of the match, Page took out the grill from Strickland’s teeth and then grabbed a syringe and injected into his mouth. Once all but unconscious. to finish him off, Page delivered a hardcore chair shot to the head, which enabled Hangman to score the victory since Strickland could not continue.

In the best part of the story, as Page walked back up the ramp, the conflict set in. Would he go back and help Strickland? Would he leave through the heel tunnel or the babyface tunnel? Ultimately, Page chose the heel tunnel, all but ending speculation that Hangman would return to his good guy status after his feud with Strickland had ended.

Two women also brought the heat (and the violence!) in one of the best matches in the show when arch-enemies Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale faced-off in a Chicago Street Fight. To chants of “This is Awesome”, the two went at it all around the ring and the arena, with Statlander finally securing the win.

In one of the greatest matches ever seen, PAC faced Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship which featured so many outstanding moves, maneuvers and counters that any pro wrestling aficionado would be more than impressed! Ospreay is in a league of his own. Later, in the show it was clear that AEW is setting up a feud down the line between the just arrived Ricochet and Ospreay.

The opener saw MJF beat Daniel Garcia, except after the bout it was Garcia who got some semblance of revenge on Max, when he kicked him where it counts and then landed a piledriver, to take out MJF for good. At the end, Max needed ring attention and to be helped out of the ring.

Following All Out, the usual post-show media scrum was cut short, when due to the violent nature of the show, only Tony Khan, the President of AEW, came out to address the media. No wrestlers talked to the press at this time.

So, if you saw AEW All Out, what did you think of Jon Moxley’s vicious attack of Bryan Danielson? Hangman’s final moves to take out Swerve and what did you think of the PAC and Ospreay match-up? Comment below.

In the meantime, not only is Chris appearing alongside Justin Hartley in a case of good vs evil on the March 22 episode entitled “Breakaway,” but he will also be seen in the new Apple TV+ series Margo Has Money Troubles which begins streaming on April 15.
