Brandon Barash Returning This Week To General Hospital!

General Hospital fans were excited to hear a few weeks back that Brandon Barash would be making a return to General Hospital as Johnny Zacchara, who was shipped off to Pentonville when we last saw him.

Now in a tweet this morning from Brandon himself, it would appear that this is the week that Johnny Z makes a comeback!  Barash tweeted:  “Wait. What? Johnny’s back this week?!”  So, just how will Barash’s return play into the current story? Will it be to make Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) life miserable since he is now in prison orange?  Or, will Johnny be involved in the “Who is Fluke?” storyline?  Or, could it be something else that brings him back on screen?

In the newly released promo for GH this week, at the very end this image above of Barash from a new scene from the series is shown where Johnny utters the line: “Long time, no see!”

Are you looking forward to seeing Brandon back on GH? How do you think he will fit into all the mysteries going down in Port Charles? Comment below!

Unfortunately, as I am with DOOL, I am completely uninterested. The Fluke storyline has gone on for far too long that I have completely lost focus. The storylines either drag on and on that they just get lost in the shuffle. Could care less about what happened off-screen between Jordan and Shawn. I forgot that Ric was alive. I’m just bored and disappointed. I do like how Michael is now a Quartermaine. I hope that Jake remembers his Quartermaine roots and goes back to medical school to become a doctor. Other than that, tired of the “villains-“overly cartoonish. Nina Clay is more scary than Faison or Helena.

Aw dmr, I am quite uninterested in the Fluke s/l now as well, but I don’t blame the writers since I know Mr. Geary has been unable to return to finish the s/l up for months! He’s been quite ill, and although I haven’t had to deal w/such yet, I hear back problems are the worst!! I’m sure they all planned on being in a different place right now. Hopefully they will wrap it up soon & move on.

I always love me some Johnny Z. I wish he was still on regularly. I’ll take him any way I can get him though. I was so hoping he’d break out of prison long enough to knock Olivia up! They were hot and steamy at one time! I’d be thrilled if he was her baby daddy. Lol.

OT- Where or where are our 11/17-21/14 soap ratings? The Nielson folks are dragging their heels…TGiving’s over. LOL.

I agree dmr! I am sooo over the whole Fluke thing and all the creepy characters that go along with that story. I know AG was gone longer than usual because of his surgery, but now that he’s back, I hope this load of crap story gets resolved immediately! Enough!!

Great to have him back. Johnny Z is an all time great GH character and it has almost everything to do with Brandon. He is an exceptional actor with unbelievable range who always makes great acting choices. He is a real talent and is sorely missed. His presence will immediately elevate the quality of today’s GH.

Luv Johnny!
GO Johnny Zacchara !! 🙂

I’m a fan of ‘all’ the Zacchara’s ..
they were great characters that made for great stories…

I so agree about the talent BB as Johnny Z…

LOVE <3 Brandon Brash! Love This storyline! Love how everyone is involved one way or another in this ENTIRE STORY ARC! Way to go GH! <3 So happy to see Luke return home for Thanksgiving also!

Please let him play Chopin on the piano. I want him making music, not making war.
Johnny was at his best when he was the romantic pianist trying to play his daddy’s demons away. I also really liked him with Lulu.
They ruined Johnny in the end by having him take advantage of Katie/Connie (which is sexual assault considering she wasn’t in her right state of mind) and also having him be responsible for the death of Starr’s baby and fiance –a crime for which he tried to frame Connie. These actions, brought to you by Ron, ruined the character of Johnny. The Johnny we knew and loved would never had committed these acts–this was the most horrendous example of a plot driven story which goes against character that I have ever seen.
Maybe they can fix their horrendous mistakes and redeem this character as well as themselves. Brandon deserves this and so much more.

Here is another great actor whom GH should use more often if he is willing…too bad Kelly Sullivan is no longer available…she couldve been a long forgotten Connie lookalike cousin Frankie and Johnny uses her to taunt Sonny…Frankie and Johnny couldve met as penpals and become lovers(until he does her wrong…lol)…just an idea i wish couldve happened…

I guess you know of that movie with Elvis and Donna Douglas…lol

Hey, was that FAIKEson in todays episode…the real Faison wouldnt have chosen Liesal over Anna!!!

OMG: THERE ARE TWO FLUKES IN PC!!! Fluke no.1 is really Faison…he is the Fluke with Tracy at the Q mansion…Fluke no.2 is Jerry Jax and he is the one holding a gun on Julian…earlier Jerry Jax was FAIKEson(Faison) in scenes with Dr.O and fooled her into believing he cared about her!!! So, dont be fooled too…lol

Or Anthony Z. is Fluke with Tracy at the Q mansion…Jerry Jax is the Fluke holding the gun on Julian and Jerry was also FAIKEson with Dr. Liesl while Faison was at the Q mansion pretending to be Larry!!!

Nope. Less screen time for someone else.

I never thought he fit the role of a mobster. He looked too much like a college kid acting like a crime boss.

Happy fan here 🙂

Please bring Anthony back from the dead or have a twin out there. Bruce Weitz is fantastic! BTY, could Rosalie be Claudia’s sister? I know they are different nationalities but still, they look alike. Remember, Rosalie is connected to someone in PC. Nina has her secret.

That’s actually a great thought, Timmm! Maybe that’s Rosalie’s secret. (Though she was very freaked out by Sonny and mob violence…) By the way, I see a resemblance (if you disregard the hair color) between Rosalie and Katherine Heigl.

I loved Bruce Weitz! Loved Anthony’s scenes with Tracy-so funny!

Wish they would get back to ‘General Hospital’ instead of the mob and villians all the time. Glad Johnny is coming back, hope it is a good story line and he is not one of the ‘bad guys’. Hope they keep Ned around and that Michael stays a “Q”. Time someone got the best of Sonny and Carly. They would not be missed if they left.

I can’t agree with you more, Patricia! I miss the adventures/excitement of the 80’s and the romance and sizzle of the 90’s! Today, it’s just too cartoonish. The masks are completely overdone and ridiculous. I do love seeing the Q’s more often, love having some humor back (The Q’s, Larry, Liesel, Madeline, Nina, Franco, etc) in-between all of the darkness. The cast needs to be shortened-too many fillers without “real” storylines-Brad, Lucas, TJ, Kiki, etc., etc.

Note to costume department: no shirts allowed for Mr. Barash.

Lol I agree with you, Brandon is one hot hot masculine man.

Happy to have Johnny come back. Story lines for the last year or so have been ridiculous! More characters from DOOL than GH. Bring back the GH gang and story lines. All this business with the doubles is crazy. I don’t even know why I watch anymore.

I can’t wait! Love him!

im glad he is coming back, it’s about time

I’m happy..
I can’t wait to see Johnny/Brandon, again..
I have missed him.. He was awesome..
I wish he would stay on and not be a short stint..
But– I will take what I can get if luved Johnny Zacchara !!!

Y E A H !! Love Brandon Barash – Welcome home Johnnie !!

So excited to see Johnny in any way shape or form. I would have been quite happy to see him for 5 minutes every episode twiddling his thumbs in jail… so no matter what storyline they give him I’m sure he’ll knock it out of the park like Barash always does.

I would like to see BB come back as Johnny as I was sad to see him go. He is such a great actor!

LOVE HIM! Thanks Brandon for coming back…even for a short time…. would love to see you back for good…..looking forward to the scenes with Sonny!

And speaking of Sonny, who is coloring this mans hair? OMG….it really does look like shoe polish….???????? my first thought was maybe he is in another role somewhere that has him more gray because whatever that stuff is on his head is gross! LOL!

I like Johnny. It’d be great if they brought him back…at least recurring. Either he and Sonny will bond…or he’ll be instrumental in bringing Sonny down.

And, when did Brandon start looking like Bill Pullman?

Happy for his return. Too bad that it’s only for a short stint…but oh well. I’ll be thankful for any Johnny Z time!

Happy to have Johnny back! He would be a great access to come between Maxie & Nate…. If someone over at the writing table has any pull, please stop with the Helena, Fazion story line . How many times can you come back from the dead? We don’t need Helena, Fazion or Nicholas father. Ben there sooooooo many times, please stop. Focus on other actors please…..

Most all GH fans love those characters!!
We really like that stuff lol ..
Faison and Helena.. love ’em !!

GH has a ton of variety.. something for everyone..
there is sooooo much more happening in GH/ Port Charles than ”villains”
((… Patrick and Sam.. Jake and Liz.. Michael and the Q’s.. Ava on the edge..
Sonny in prison.. Duke taking over.. Anna in big trouble .. Tracy getting Luke back ..
Franco and Nina.. Morgan might be a daddy.. Alexis and Julian getting hotter..
TJ finding out about his father.. Britt going to be busted, and the ”’non” villain” list goes on ..

Tracy did NOT get Luke back…that is Fluke no.2(Anthony Z.) at the Q mansion…Fluke no.1(Jerry Jax) is holding a gun on Julian…Jerry was also FAIKEson with Dr.O while the real Faison was disguised as Larry Ashton at the Q mansion…also, the Cassidine have programmed ‘Jake’ to think he is Jason Morgan…the real Jason and the real Luke are still missing while the real Larry Ashton is being held somewhere too…lol

I love Brandon & I’m glad he’s back! Please make the
Fluke story wrap up soon…….

excited for Brandon to be back on the show,he will be good no doubt. but I am over the Fluke storyline.. I know we couldn’t do much with it while Tony was out on medical leave but it lost its kick. I could care less about who Fluke or Faison is. Faison is ehhh and boring and has been overdone so much now. reminds how they’d overuse the villians on OLTL…

With johnny coming back…I am just worried that this could mean that Sonny is locked up for a long while. He has not signed a contract yet… so that could mean anything….and I would love to see him redeemed.Perhaps he wants the same deal as Anthony Geary….6 months on and 6 months off to pursue other things?

Kinda down to the wire as I hear his contract expires now in dec. 🙁

I love the original that Mcbain is a non johnnie. Wishing it was 4evah he was back. ..but i will take BB anyway i can get him

Welcome back,my old friend

I am so very ready for Johnny’s return. Yippee!!!!!

So was reading thru threads…I am thinking Rosalie is Fluke’s daughter…& the real Fluke could be…Bill Eckert? Or a not-so-dead Damien Smith. I am still trying to figure out who could be Rosalie’s mother, tho. Also, very little has been shown about lab-tech Brad Cooper’s heritage. I recall him mentioning he had a ‘mafia’ type father…who could that be? Wondering if that storyline will ever be revisited again.

GH’s Mark Teschner Tells Casting Stories of Johnny Wactor, Giovanni Mazza, Rebecca Herbst & Nicholas Chavez

This week during a very informative and insightful conversation, General Hospital’s 11-time Emmy-winning casting director and now a Daytime Emmy Silver Circle honoree, Mark Teschner spoke on finding the talent for specific roles on the ABC daytime drama series throughout his near three and half decades with the show.

During a livestream chat on the Michael Fairman Channel, Teschner recalled some of the behind the scenes casting stories that brought many beloved favorites to the GH family including the late Johnny Wactor (ex-Brando), the newly-arrived, Giovanni Mazza (Gio), longtime fan favorite, Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth), and rising star, Nicholas Chavez (ex-Spencer) to name but a few.

When speaking with sadness over the loss of Wactor, who was shot and killed back on May 25th, and what he brought to the character of Brando, Teschner recalled, “With Johnny, what you see is what you get. You see the most kind decent, standup guy, and that’s innately who he is. So, that quality comes through in his work and with the character.”

Photo: HutchinsPhoto

Mark explained, “Brando was a raw kind of hothead, troubled kind of character, and Johnny was able to go there. He had a real intensity that he was able to bring to the role, but at the same time, the character of Brando had to have this depth and this giant heart that he doesn’t necessarily reveal when you first see him. Well, Johnny had the biggest heart of anyone you’ll ever meet. So that essence was already there, and then his acting and his skill played the character. Johnny brought so much of who he was to the character, and there was something so authentic about him.”

Photo: ABC

Giovanni Mazza recently debuted on GH as “Gio”, so what was his road to landing in Port Charles? Teschner shared, “I was casting a recurring role for a 15-year-old on the show, but when I’m doing the audition, sometimes I’ll open it up because we try to cast true to age, really within a year or so.  If you think about it, all the kids in our show are the exact age of the characters that they’re playing. Because if you have somebody that’s older playing younger, it sticks out because they’re not going to blend age-wise. But I did read a number of actors that were older just because they looked interesting. Gio’s audition came in. I was viewing this through self tapes, and there was just something about him. It wasn’t just that he was a great-looking kid, it was just there’s something very soulful about him and something very compelling, and he draws you in. ”

Photo: ABC

Mark continued, “So with the group of the 15-year-olds that I sent to Frank Valeintini (EP, GH), I said, ‘Hey, I’m including this kid, Giovanni Mazza. I’m well aware he’s too old, but I just want you to see him.’

After having him come into audition, two weeks later, Frank called Mark and told him they were putting Gio under contract. Teschner added, “So, that was an example where it was his first week in LA, it was his first and ever audition. So we got  before anybody else.  I think he’s really gonna develop into, you know, quite a young actor.”

Becky Herbst has been beloved as Elizabeth for decades, and Teschner recounted her audition process and how she came to the role of Elizabeth. “She (originally) auditioned for the role of Sarah Webber. But the role of Elizabeth was created for Becky. While the character of Sarah did not last long, here we are with Becky 30 years later.”

Teschner cited Becky’s casting as a great example. “I always tell actors when they come into audition, you lay it out, you put it all out there, you bring everything you have to that role. You may not get the role, but if you do good work, you get remembered. And it’s so true.”

Photo: ABC

Nicholas Chavez popped in the role of Spencer Cassadine before exiting the series. Teschner tells how Chavez came onto the GH casting radar. “Nicholas sent his self tape in from Florida and the rest is history. He had a meteoric impact on the show.” Mark added, “You always have an expectation and the hope that they’re (the actor) going to nail it and run with it. But sure, there are actors, you think, ‘They’re gonna be awesome,’ and then all of a sudden it goes to another level. With Nicholas Chavez, we knew he’d be amazing, but you know, who knew? Well, we did.”

Watch the full conversation with Mark Teschner below where he talks about even more of the casting stories behind some of your GH favorites, then and now.

Bryan Craig Teases ‘Who Could It Be’ in Response to General Hospital’s Returning Mystery Man

Since General Hospital’s executive producer, Frank Valentini dropped a major bombshell of what’s to come on the long-running daytime drama at the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards, the guessing games have begun of just what former GH actor is returning to the cast this summer.

Speaking with ABC’s On The Red Carpet, as previously reported, Valentini shared, “A former cast member is coming back. And I think that the audience will go crazy for HIM.”

That has led to major online speculation that it could be anyone from: Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky), Greg Vaughn (ex-Lucky), Ted King (ex-Lorenzo Alcazar), Nicholas Chavez (ex-Spencer), and Bryan Craig (ex-Morgan) among others, that might be the gentlemen being referenced.

Photo: JPI

On Wednesday, responding to a post on the subject from Soap Opera Digest, Bryan Craig commented, “Who could it be ….”  Now, clearly he can just be having some fun with the situation to throw fans off-track, or he might be giving us a tease of what’s to come.

Before exiting GH, the actor won two Daytime Emmys for his performances as Morgan Corinthos in 2016 and 2017.  Craig appeared on GH from 2013-2016 and made a return in 2018. Since departing GH, Bryan has appeared most recently in Freeform’s Good Trouble and ABC’s Grand Hotel, plus several independent films.

The character of Morgan was killed-off the show when Olivia Jerome set a bomb that exploded in the car that Morgan got into, but was meant to kill Olivia’s brother Julian Jerome. Morgan’s death caused a huge split in the relationship of Carly and Sonny.

So, do you think Bryan Craig is just having fun with the audience, or do you think it’s possible he is the big return Frank Valentini is talking about? Comment below.
