Cameron Mathison Reveals Cancer Diagnosis and Shares Heartfelt Message

Photo: JPI

One of our the best guys we know, Cameron Mathison (co-host, Home & Family and Ex-Ryan Lavery, All My Children), revealed over the last 24 hours that he has been diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma – kidney cancer, but treatment for him will be underway and the prognosis is good.

Cameron first shared the news on Monday’s Home & Family in a special announcement enlightening viewers on his health condition (watch video below) and later took to his Instagram and social media to share more details.   Of note: Mathison’s healthy lifestyle has indeed helped, and shown, that his cancer has not spread.

In addition, Mathison wrote: “About a month ago, I had an MRI for some gut issues I’ve been having, and during that MRI they fd a tumor on my right kidney. It’s consistent with Renal Cell Carcinoma … or kidney cancer. The good news is that it hasn’t spread to any other organs🙏🏼 They say my healthy lifestyle and diet has no doubt helped keep it from growing and spreading to other areas, as doctors think it’s been growing in me for minimum 10 years🙏🏼. I am extremely lucky that we found it early.” He thanked his doctor and his family, saying, “[wife] Vanessa, [kids] Lucas and Leila have been absolutely amazing with their love and support… as have my mom, dad, brother, and everyone at Home and Family, Hallmark, and ET❤️ My surgery is scheduled on September 12th, I was hoping to receive positive thoughts, prayers, or whatever you feel comfortable with, on 9/12 (my surgery is at 1pm PST) 🙏🏼.” He concluded, “Feeling very grateful and optimistic!”

Send positive vibes Cameron’s way as he goes through his medical procedure this week, share your comments below.

My prayers for your speedy recovery…

I mean it when I say that Cameron is truly one of my favorite Hallmark actors. I was sickened to hear this news. He was right. According to integrative health experts I know, we do, in fact have cancer in our body for 10 years before it manifests. We will be praying for Cameron and his family. Cameron, you have a TON of supporters praying and will have you covered during your surgery, praying for you, the surgeon, and of course, your family. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I am so sorry to hear this. I am sending you healing thoughts and prayers that all goes well with your surgery and recovery.

May God bless you..

Glad it was caught and hope he does well in recovery.

I’m a 72year old man. I had my left kidney removed 14 years ago and am doing fine. My diagnosis was the same as yours. No other treatment needed the only downfall is no anti inflammatory drugs, only Tylenol. Live a great life and enjoy your family. I treat myself to an ultrasound every Xmas just to check things out.i I got up one morning with a pain in my left side, they X-rayed and said I had diverticulitis but also had a spot on my kidney, first stage cancer. I believe I was helped out on that one. Take care!

Prayers for a speedy recovery .. My father was 84 when they found his and he was back playing tennis as soon as the Dr released him .. Also took very good care of himself . God Bless You and your family and the Dr of course ..

I recently found out that I have a tumor on my right kidney also. Mine was found during a scan of my left kidney (which has a separate issue). Mine has not spread and we are still awaiting one more test result to determine treatment. Best of luck to you and God Bless!

Wishing the best for you. You have always been one of my favourite soap/Hallmark characters. Glad to hear you had a healthy life style which I’m sure has helped.

Dear Cameron, I’m nearly 80 years old, have been married for nearly 60 years. Just a little background info on me. You are one of my favorite actors & I try to get all your films when they come out on DVDs. My niece had kidney cancer when she was 6, but has survived all these years, is happily married with 2 children. So, I’ll be praying for you & trust that you know the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. If you have a personal relationship with Christ, then we know that ‘all things work together for good, to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose’. Will be praying for God to lead you in this new adventure in your life & that the surgery will go well for you. Mrs. Honson

My mother suffered from odd symptoms. She would go to the doctor who did medical blood tests which showed a problem but when she returned for a followup blood test, everything was normal. Finally, at age 80, she changed doctors, who did an ultrasound. Showed same cancer which was the size of one’s fist and has metastasized to the frenal artery. She had the right kidney removed, was in the hospital for about 3 days. She lived another 13 years.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Wishing you a speedy and healthy recovery.

God Bless you Cameron!

We will be praying for you! We love you, admire you and have the greatest respect for you. After watching those heart warming movies with you, you are like a part of the family! God is merciful and with so many praying for you, you will be OK!
All the best!
Marianna and Victoria

Wishing Cameron Mathis all the best. A friend of mine had kidney cancer nine years ago and has been cancer-free since. Sending prayers up!

So very sorry to hear you are ill. My thoughts and prayers will be with you on 9/12. You are a delight to watch on H&M and I look forward in anticipation to many years of doing so. Hang tough! It’s half the battle.

Storming heaven for a great outcome

Praying for you Cameron

You never have to worry when you have Christ on your side. He will never leave you or forsake you. Cameron, you are a fine example for people living in this generation. Being in the limelight can change people for the worst, but you have stood the test of time. Keep on living as Christ would have you live, and you will never regret it. Praying for you on the 12th here in TEXAS.

You’re strong and have fantastic support through your family and friends. You will pull through this…keep up the positive attitude, trust me…it works!! All the best to you for a speedy recovery and may your family know we are thinking of their tender emotions at this time too.

Prayers for a full & complete recovery. Love to you & your family.

Praying for you & your family. You can & will beat this! You have a great support system & it will turn out fine. Keep the faith.

Love and prayers being sent your way Cameron! You got this. God wi ‘ll l guide you through it

Dear Cameron and family : I’m a 61 year old guy who started watching all my children back when it first started in 1970 . I was 13 at the time and my Mother would watch A M C every weekday , so if i had the day off from school or i was sick or on school vacation , i’d watch the show with her .
I enjoyed the show so much , when i got older and worked full time , my Mom would call me or i’d call her to find out what happened on the show that day ! Then of course years later VCR’S came out and i would tape every show and watch it when i got home that evening . ( To this day still wonderful memories that i cherish ! )
Every actor / actress was fantastic ! Cameron , you did a great job playing Ryan Lavery , alongside Erica Kane , ( Susan Lucci . ) And Adam Chandler /Stewart Chandler , ( David Canary . )
I’m so glad the MRI caught everything early Cameron , and you eat healthy having a healthy lifestyle , thank God ! I will say a prayer for you and your family at this time , praying everything goes as planned . God will hold your hand through the surgery today .
All of your fans love you and are praying for you at this time , and i hope you know i think of you as one of my friends , Cameron .
God bless , from Ed .

Mark Consuelos Celebrates One-Year Anniversary as Co-Host of ‘Live’ Alongside Kelly Ripa

Today, April 17th marks a full-year since Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children) took over the co-hosting duties of ‘Live” alongside his wife, and longtime co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, All My Children).

Consuelos replaced Ryan Seacrest who are six seasons decided to be back on the west coast full-time. For Consuelos, now having the opportunity to work off of Ripa as co-hosts has been something of adjustment for him, but viewers have been eating it up.

Live with Kelly and Mark has remained the No. 1 entertainment talk show on television over the past year, growing 3% in average total viewers to 2.23M per episode.  It is also the most-watched daytime talk show in the last year in key demos of women 18-49 and women 25-54. All of this, since the real-life marrieds teamed-up.

Photo: ABC

Speaking with Deadline, Kelly Ripa shared why the two are gelling on-screen, “I do think that there is something very possibly relatable about our relationship. We have disagreements like a normal couple, and we’re not afraid to let them unfold on the air and in front of America, and I think people find a lot of themselves in that.”

Mark weighed in how he has progressed as a host, and what he could improve at, sharing, “I’d like to get better at my interviewing skills. I’d like to get better at reading a teleprompter…I think I’m getting better at throwing to commercial. The other day in the middle of the show as we go to commercial, my sign off was ‘See you guys around.’ I mean, the show wasn’t over. The most obvious thing to say would be, ‘We’ll be back right after this.’ But I just said, ‘See you around.’ So we went to commercial and one of the producers (goes) ‘What was that?’ I don’t know… So for the next few sign offs, as a joke, I’d say ‘See you around.’ We got a kick out of it.”

Meanwhile, Kelly has given huge props to Mark, “I find Mark utterly compelling, really interesting, super funny, and he’s bold in a way like nobody else. He says what’s on his mind. If he’s thinking it, he says it.  I’ve done this a long time and oftentimes people will adjust their natural personalities to pander to what they think the audience wants to hear, and Mark will tell people what he thinks, and he doesn’t care if it’s not a popular opinion. It gives him an edginess that I think is really missing in the landscape today. Everybody’s so afraid to say anything, and Mark is unafraid to say exactly what he’s thinking.”

In a statement, Debra O’Connell, President News Group and Networks, Disney Entertainment shared, We could not be more thrilled with how Mark has seamlessly joined the show family as permanent co-host. His undeniable charisma and his and Kelly’s natural chemistry are evident as they deliver the laughs and smiles to our viewers each morning. We are incredibly proud of how Live has continued to evolve and that the audience is responding so enthusiastically.”

So, do you think Mark Consuelos is the best co-host his wife Kelly Ripa has ever had on ‘Live’? How would you say he is doing as co-host after one full year on the job? Comment below.
