What befuddles me the most ( or should I say who) is Sonny. Was he always so acquiescent to his wife’s whims? What kind of a scary mafioso is he? I can see the skirt and apron strings dangling from his tuxedo. ….was it a tuxedo?

Well, CeeCee, the tradition continues….my first “lost” post of 2018 was directed to you! Coincidence???? Lol….So, to repeat….yes, it was a lovely Christmas, thank you very much….I shan’t expound for the sake of expediency, but the appearance of the fluffy white stuff for the first December 25th in a few years definitely added to the enchantment of the festive season! Hope yours was equally special! As for your Carly comments??? Hmmmm….no, I cannot claim that Sonny was so easily controlled in years past by his spouse, but Laura Wright’s rendition of this character is much more commanding than those of actresses past…hers has a certain physical strength and obstinate quality that lords over her husband in a manner not so prevalent with the previous loose cannon-Carly gals. They were more feral and crazy…this one just wants what she wants— come hell or high water, so it’s going to happen whether Sonny likes it or not! I think he now simply goes with the path of least resistance where the wife is concerned….it’s easier that way, even if there is often a considerable clean-up required in the aftermath of her actions!

In response to your “Carly comments,” CeeCeeGirl, let’s just say the current version is older, wiser and—-in her own way—more settled. Despite being an impetuous loose cannon and inveterate busybody when it comes to her friends and family, she is still a far cry from the more brittle and duplicitous femme which the character once was. Perhaps if Dr. Kim goes off the rails in the future, you will get a sense of how TB’s Carly differed from the strong “I Am Woman” that Laura Wright portrays. As for why this Carly…or any of them…deigned to be with Sonny is beyond me….I suppose that shall remain one of life’s great mysteries…LOL. My hunch is that he was the consolation prize because Jason was never truly within her full-time reach! In terms of Sam’s “Love Dilemma,” I really don’t fathom why it’s such a no brainer that she can simultaneously deeply desire two men…of course, she once thought that her “Jasons” were one and the same, but now that she knows better, there are immense feelings for both her past and present loves…one doesn’t negate the other, especially since her parting with Jason was not one of choice, but circumstance, which makes a huge difference. For her to not feel conflicted over which man to now choose would be unnatural and inexplicable.

@CeeCee….I am also beginning to think that Faison may indeed be the grand prize winner of the “Nathan BabyDaddy” sweepstakes….not because he was the intended father all along, but simply for the sake of expediency! This revelation has been stalled for an absolute age, and now that the time to spill this long-held secret is nigh, I simply don’t believe the writers want to expend too much time or imagination on this news. I will always suspect that the originally evil incarnate concept of the character Valentin was meant to be the source of Nathan’s paternity, and logically speaking, even Mikkos or Jerry Jack could aptly fit the description initially put forth by Liesl. I suppose we could still be in for a surprise, and I hope we are, but if Faison is pronounced the “papa,” I would find it both highly interesting and a bit disingenuous, since I cannot buy that Dr. O wouldn’t have been absolutely thrilled to have produced her precious Cesar’s male progeny and presented him with their “golden child!” Of course, the excuse will no doubt be that Liesl wished to protect Nathan from the danger of being Faison’s son and spare him the life that her paramour would have demanded for him…but when you consider how completely besotted she was (is!) with this insanely brilliant creature, I cannot see how she wouldn’t have attempted to secure a true family future with him, impossible as that is to imagine for any sane person….Lol! As for Carly’s “grasp” on Jason? Whilst he’s always looked after her and they do have a true friendship, he’s quite simply too sensible to be romantically involved with this uncontrollable banshee….that’s not what he was looking for in his life. Better to let Sonny deal with her insanity on a daily basis….even if Jason usually does have to ride to her rescue after she and her mobster-spouse create most of their own perils. By the way, thank you for the kind words, mia amica…though I must add that your own vivid descriptions are wildly illustrative, as well! Kudos!

Alas, CeeCeeGirl, we have been proved correct in our suppositions about Nathan’s paternity…color me rather disappointed! I think this plot point is a cop out, but I guess we’ll simply have to roll with it! Of course, given their striking resemblance to one another, Nathan and Griffin would be perfectly cast as “The Brothers Faison,” but me thinks the other Cesar spawn will be a newer addition to Port Charles…perhaps Peter “August” as “Octavian?” He did just sort of conveniently show up out of nowhere around the same time Faison purportedly went mental over his traitor’s turnabout, so coincidence???? Also, that missing disco ball ornament materialized upon someone’s desk and it looked like it could have belonged to Mr. August. Although I’m not tantalized by this notion, it really is the only one which makes sense at this point. As for that old chestnut regarding Kiki’s birth mother being someone other than Ava???….I sure hope not, but I would love to see Franco proved to be her real father since that would mean Heather is her grandmama! And Nelle???? I really don’t care from whence or which wench she comes….it’s just delicious having her around to cause Carly such grief…LOL. (By the way, loved her latest outfit….head to toe noir….tres chic and oh so sleek….you’d never guess she is “with child!!)

Hope you’re keeping warm and cozy there, CeeCee!!! I’ve been in the deep freeze, too, though not so much with the fierce snowstorms this time around…but I’m loving it! Winter is my thing….I absolutely adore the peace, quiet and gorgeous majesty of the icy landscape! Anyway, I honestly never believed that Britt and Nathan were full-sibs….I guess I simply wanted a highly-dramatic denouement to the whole paternity issue, so I considered every possibility save for the most obvious one. Still, Liesl sold the scenario with her supremely skillful sense of self-justification. I have so enjoyed her renewed presence in Port Charles….now if she can only share some scenes with her beloved Cesar! Of course, Griffin would make a superb bro for Nathan…physically speaking, yet perhaps that also places him as the perfect red herring in this tale…I’m expecting a more shocking choice, albeit given his dark nature, I would have loved for Finn to be the long lost Faison in question, especially as his appearance is also quite similar to Nathan’s. No, I’m sticking with the notion that Peter August is Octavian….I expected you to pick up on the name connotations when I put them in quotes above, and which have now been broached by you and a handful of others on a subsequent thread. Seems too much of a coincidence for him to be otherwise. Perhaps “The Triumvirate,” as you’ve so aptly termed them, shall also notice this clever word connection….Well, Spinelli—-the intellectual base of the operation—will!!! Lol…Maybe we should call this trio “The Three Musketeers”…There would be “Brainus” (Spinelli)——“Brawnus” (Jason)———-and “Broodus” (Sonny!!!!)…Hah! Stay safe, mia amica!

So sorry for your cold “dis-comfort,” CeeCeeGirl! Since I’m gleefully impervious to the freezing temps, I tend to forget how much they can bother others…what can I say? I simply have a Nordic constitution, and apparently, spirit!…I love the winter and the whole “hygge” concept! I cannot get enough of it and the years we escape much snow and icy air really disappoint me. Not so much this time around….but I do hope you feel better soon. I see 60 degree days are briefly on the way, so enjoy. At any rate, I agree that Kathleen Gati’s highly-convincing portrayal as a feisty frau is spot-on!!! Not only does she totally nail the accent, but she really captures the whole steely, superior attitude that Germans are known for…and having some of that blood coursing through my veins entitles me to say so! Lol…She also does a great Russian diva…I caught her in a Christmas movie some time ago and she was this crazed interior designer who didn’t take well to others’ suggestions….quite OTT!!!! But as Liesl she is also capable of being deeply loving when her “kinder” are concerned…who’d have thunk it when she was running her clinic of horrors for the criminally insane???? I just love it when she does something totally unexpected….although I must admit to taking great delight when her evil side re-emerges, too! Perhaps if Faison finally turns up in Port Charles,—-yes, please!——we shall see that fierce lioness once again unleashed…at least, I certainly hope so! As for the “Octavian” angle, someone at GH seems to be obsessed with Roman history….first we get “Nero,” and now “August!” (Plus, of course, “Cesar!”) There’s definitely some sort of link there…I do applaud the effort…it adds an extra dimension for those of us who insist upon digging into storylines looking for deeper meanings. In terms of the Latin aspect, my mother learned it from The Church and years of school lessons, so she imparted that knowledge to me at a young age despite being considered “dead” by that point…it still came in handy when studying Romance languages! Anyway, I shall never give Sonny too much credit…..I don’t view him as any sort of heroic character…but I think he regards himself as such, hence the “Three Musketeers” reference! I figured you were referrring to your previous, unfortunate injury…my sympathies over that, CeeCeeGirl……especially given you are still so young (and beautiful!) Yet, as you have pointed out, pain does not discriminate…have you tried an anti-imflammatory diet to help manage your condition? I know some people for whom it has been a godsend, even though I only became familiar with the concept after discovering the whole Perricone philosophy of it as part of his anti-aging protocols. I loosely follow it within the dietary limits my allergies pose—-alas, no seafood or eggs—-yet I still reap many of the benefits described! But enough for the medical chit-chat, just hope you get some relief soon! Anyway, thank you once again for the always supportive and kind comments….I do love to write and express my expansive thoughts on numerous subjects about which I am passionate, and sharing them with you is nothing less than a true delight since you respond with equally evocative—-and yes, provocative!— remarks! (Just one of the great joys of posting here!) As for Jason and Sonny, their rekindled “bromance” has really become much too thick and far too rapidly for my taste…some ambiguity as to where Jason’s future loyalties and activities would have transpired would have forged a better path for drama’s sake, although I still welcome Steve Burton’s return to GH because it has launched so many other great possibilities for a show that had become beyond stale! At any rate, I still have yet to catch up on what’s now the last three episodes….everytime I get started, I become distracted and have to begin all over again, hence I should do so before I further opine! I’m sure you are already more than halfway there when it comes to the diet thing…salmon is absolute “king” on the good doctor’s list of must eats, along with all those yummy greens you mention…essentially, much of his suggested cuisine is “Mediterranean-based.” (Oh, do watch out for romaine these days…it’s currently on a “watchlist” for food poisoning…I know this because I love it, too, and even though organic, I’m avoiding it until it gets the official okay again….) Still, there are always new things to be discovered that just improve upon what we already do. For example, consumption of “nightshades” can cause a lot of arthritis sufferers undue discomfort, and those who have abandoned such produce as potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and eggplant have reported immense physical relief…apparently, some substance in the skins causes inflammation to the system, whilst adding a cup or two of turmeric tea is also said to be immensely helpful…I always include some in my white/green mix each day, even though I do not suffer from any maladies…I just feel like it is a healthy thing to do, particularly since I don’t otherwise incorporate this healing spice into my cooking. Alright now, basta, mia amica…..no more of my Perricone fangirl musings, simply wanted to be helpful! However, do peruse some of his copious material on this subject….it’s quite fascinating and very illuminating! Now on to GH….not unlike your own perspective, the Sonny-Jason-Carly connection holds no allure for me, been there, done that, ad nauseam—-although I do find that Jason’s relationship with his newfound twin offers some great dramatic opportunities for Steve Burton and Billy Miller…Both have been excellent and, thus far, I’ve really enjoyed their interactions—good and bad—-and look forward to more of them as the layers of the mysterious onion of their divergent lives continue to be peeled away. That—as well as the romantic path Sam ultimately chooses between the two brothers—-carries far more importance to the present-day Jason storyline than the resumption of his same hackneyed role as Sonny’s enforcer and Carly’s protector. However, as you’ve already cannily observed, old habits die hard in Port Charles….just as walking around in the freezing cold sans proper apparel appears to be. All I can offer to that sentiment is that it’s nothing less than a miracle that some of the townswomen don’t suffer chest colds after walking about so exposed to the elements…and no, I shan’t name names! Lol…Oh well, must go….I’ve yet to catch up on this week’s GH episodes…It’s definitely on the agenda for the upcoming snowy weekend! Stay warm, CeeCeeGirl!

Oh, no, CeeCee….you’re not the only one who notices every little detail whilst watching any entertainment offering….it’s always been something I’ve done, and my mother, too….I think I get it from her…she’s a very observant woman…in “real life,” too! I actually very much enjoyed discussing all the minutiae of this with you until much of it was considered verboten here, since for me, it’s simply part of the entire “viewing experience!” Fashion, makeup, behavioral quirks, continuity issues, plot discrepancies and yes, physical characteristics, are all things that I zero in on….and I think that is especially true with soaps because we see them on a daily basis, hence everything is under a constant microscope! But having said that, I was also very taken with Steve Burton’s performance over the last few days….his Jason is not much for words, but the pain his eyes conveyed over the divorce discussion was absolutely heartbreaking! All through this ordeal, his character has been impeccably noble and selfless in his love for his wife and their child….so beautiful, yet so sad! And Kelly’s Sam has been extremely effective, as well! She is playing the romantically-conflicted woman with skill…understated, yes, but with the proper amount of angst and sorrow that such a situation would realistically bring. Even though I am not necessarily rooting more for one or the other man that she will ultimately choose for her future, I do believe that despite Sam’s best intentions where Drew is concerned, deep down, her heart truly belongs to Jason…their connection is both unforgettable and undeniable, as you may have gleaned from all those flashbacks that have been so perfectly inserted into this drama. As for Alexis, she has forever interfered in this relationship…which had she been a model mother of decorum and propriety herself, I would have completely understood! But given her own gargantuan propensity for dangerous paramours, she has no leg to stand upon when lecturing her daughters, particularly in the case of Sam….she wasn’t there for her when she was a young, impressionable child, so to try to dictate her own patented form of double standards to her now that she’s an adult with a family is beyond hypocritical…and lest we forget, Jason has never treated Sam in an abusive manner. He has been protective and loving to her, even though she has sometimes been caught in the crossfire of his chosen “vocation,” but he would bravely lay down his life for both her and his children…he’s no Julian, that’s for sure! Finally, I tend to agree—-in general——that parents should be respected and never sassed…I was certainly brought up that way, and that rule extended to all of my elders…nothing less was tolerated! But then again, my mother didn’t conceive me in the backseat of a car with a virtual stranger when she was 15, repeatedly consort with gangsters and parade about town immodestly clad…perhaps if that had been the case, I might not harbor the deservedly profound awe and esteem for her that I have in spades! Unfortunately, not all parents are created as equally upstanding as our own, and Alexis is a textbook example of that adage, so I sort of give an occasional pass to her “girls” when they give her a good tongue-lashing, however, I did mention on another thread that I am not liking Molly’s unbecoming conduct one bit…she’s turning into a shrill harpy and that is simply unacceptable for such a beautiful and intelligent young girl! I really hope that she shapes ups sooner rather than later…..

I truly appreciate your discretion, not that I blame you…we’ve been through the ringer!!!!!
Everyone is nice and polite except for one, who comes in many ‘forms’, male and female and beyond.
Thus, when there is the ‘off’ poster who is mean and demeaning ( attacking me under a name I had never before seen, but still posts once in a while—-same one with whom you politely engaged)…..who chooses to be so insufferable, I find said poster suspect. …it is one thing when some posters take a “time out” for a prolonged period of time, such as one of my favorites, Fanny. ….different story when the odd one comes in and throws stones….then plays the victim and puts words in our mouths which were never uttered, or changes the ‘rhythm’ of comment to benefit herself/himself…..and, calling us names and then denying it…..it’s all in black and white. Nothing gets erased online….we all know that.
I simply do not understand why one poster attacks another for one’s opinion which does not agree with hers/his. There is never any need for that, unless we are defending ourselves from an insult to our person.
It has been pretty peaceful, so far. However, I think, it is due to the vigilance of the moderators. I am glad for that. More power to them!!
