GENERAL HOSPITAL: Valentin’s World Crumbles; Anna & Finn Put On The Brakes
Yesterday’s episode of ABC’s General Hospital featured emotional performances by James Patrick Stuart (Valentin), Finola Hughes (Anna) and Michael Easton (Finn) as it looks like a significant shift may be coming for their characters on the Port Charles canvas, or is it?
Valentin has overheard Nina (Cynthia Watros) telling Ava (Maura West) that she kissed Jax (Ingo Rademacher), which further sends him into a tailspin. He is still reeling from the fact that the DNA results, that he had run, proved that he is not a Cassadine, as Nikolas (Marcus Coloma) had claimed and revealed.
When Valentin enters Ava’s art gallery, he gets a moment alone with Nina where he tells her he doesn’t know who he is anymore. Nina tells him he is free now to start over and concentrate on his daughter, Scarlett, but that she will no longer be a part of his life.
You can tell Nina still has feelings for Valentin and cares about him, but is it more? Or, is she now going to move on with Jax? Well, after a pep talk, of sorts, from Ava, looks like she may just go after Jax and see where things may lead with him.
Later, Valentin is drinking and gets his gun and is ready to kill Jax, or so it seems. He heads out to go confront Jax in his office. Next, we see Valentin shoot Jax with Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Dustin (Mark Lawson) looking on. However, we soon learn that this scenario was all in Valentin’s mind, as we come back to present time and Jax, Dustin, and Josslyn are all talking and wondering what Valentin wants. He covers and tells Jax he just came to tell him he wasn’t a Cassadine. Still later, Lulu is filled in about Valentin.
Meanwhile, Brad (Parry Shen) meets up with Nelle (Chloe Lanier) and tells her that he and Lucas (Ryan Carnes) are moving away from Port Charles. He admits to her that he told Lucas before the accident, about baby Wiley being Michael and Nelle’s bio-son. She is pissed. Nelle realizes he wants to move Lucas and Wiley away to keep from triggering Lucas’ memory of the car crash. Later, that prompts Nelle to leave Valentin a message that she is ready to sell her ELQ shares to him as she needs to leave town ASAP.
However, when Nelle places her call, Vakentin does not pick up; instead he is on the floor drunk, and opens a box with the Cassadine ring in it, and lo and behold, we see a woman appear, who by all accounts will be Helena (Constance Towers) since we know Towers is making a visit during February sweeps. Will Valentin be talking to a dead Helena about the lies perpetrated on him … or is something else going on? Stay tuned for today’s episode.

Elsewhere, Anna is angry that Finn betrayed her with confirming information to Jason (Steve Burton) and his stance on her son Peter’s dirty deeds.. Finn says she’s just so blind to the truth about Peter and he is a dangerous man; after all, Peter kept Jason locked up for years. Anna says Jason will now retaliate and try to kill Peter. She is overcome with terror and upset that no one will give Peter the benefit of a doubt.
It’s clear she wants a second chance at being Peter’s mother and can’t see past that. With that, the duo is at a crossroads. Finn goes to get his daughter, Violet and packs a bag and moves of their place and heads to the Metro Court for the night. He tells Anna he has to protect his daughter. Of course, when they get to the Metro Court, they run into Peter (Wes Ramsey) and Maxie (Kirsten Storms). Finn is not happy. Will Anna and Finn reconcile? Will Peter finally, finally get his comeuppance?

— General Hospital (@GeneralHospital) February 14, 2020
It was a great day for GH.
Finola Hughes has been master class in this story despite the material. Making Anna look this bad so that SilasMcFinn can be the superior one for the last two years is really starting to grate. This couple needs to be dismantled permanently. Give Anna a guy where she is a least his equal, Im tired of seeing her groveling to this guy and being incompetent.
Peter needs to go or be completely de-Devaned.
PETER NEEDS TO GO, NEVER TO BE HEARD FROM AGAIN. NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
You know, DMRR, everyone spends so much time strolling around those creepy docks, it’d be a shame if Peter Puke-o got ‘accidentally’ dunked….permanently! All that dirty water might straighten out that Brillo hair.
Agree with your comments. Enough with this forced agenda driven pairing. Love the actors just not paired. They are at completely different points in their lives. Anna and Robert need to be rebuilt as an anchor couple. Finn needs someone new and fiery. I don’t see Rebecca Budig coming back permanently. Please, no more Peetuh!
Yes,Anna and Robert forever. It’s so OBVIOUS!
Carlee, I know it could never work long term, but what about Anna & Julian? They don’t give him much to do except torment Brad. And Julexis seems a distant memory. What do you think?
NO–no Anna and Julian! Just NO!
Soaphound
I just read that “Julian hits the sheets with two people”, but doesnt say who they are. I bet BrookLynn is one of them.
Well said Carlee!
Don’t worry… Helena Cassadine is still in Hell, where she belongs. So is Val the Bastard’s father. Do I even have to say who it is? Seriously, you all know the answer.
At least he’s slightly more credible in that sense than Whiny Heiny ever was…. but I have a feeling that reject will by MY problem soon enough. Oh well… Cerberus was getting tired of using Shiloh as a chew toy anyway. Send him down!
This is GH-the writers could magically bring Helena back to life.
Saten,
Hi there. I ‘ve been racking my brain trying to figure out who Valentin’s father could be. I was thinking Luke Spencer, making him Lulu’s brother, etc, etc. Please explain your comment a little more, when you say “Val, the bastard’s father”
Helena had a bizzare fascination with Luke, but I’m sure she would draw the line at making a “test tube baby” from Val & Lulu if Luke were Val’s daddy. And as far as I know, Luke & Helena never actually did the deed, just flirted a lot.
There’s only one man that Helena had a known history with, at least in criminal collaboration, and that would be Cesar Faison. He seems the most likely suspect, in my most unholy opinion. Though he and Helena are both down here in Hell now, and neither one is talking.
I suppose they could always right some sort of backstory retcon where Helena might have had a fling with Edward Quartermaine. We all know Eddie got around… just ask Jimmy Lee Holt or the Wards about that. And it would explain Val’s current obsession with gaining control of ELQ. Though that would also mean he would have to know Edward was his father, and that can’t be the case, as the results of the DNA test actually shocked him.
So yeah, I’m sticking to my story. Faison is his daddy.
I have never understood the Anna and Finn pairing. It came out of nowhere. I love Michael Easton and am glad he’s on the canvas. There are so many options for him with his daughter now as far as storylines. Love this showcasing of his fatherhood. Please no more Finn and Anna. We’ve endured enough.
When Easton first came on the show as John McBain, there was a good friendship vibe with Anna. Three characters later, the writers tried the romance route.
From their “Port Charles” days, Easton and Monaco have a history. The glow between them earlier this week was more enjoyable to watch than any of Sam’s scenes with Jason over the past 2 years.
agreed! NO MORE Finn and Anna. But, YES, to Robert and Anna–then and now, forever.
I agree as well. Robert and Anna belong together plain as day.
Make Anna and Julian a couple and call them JuliAnna-lol….Nell story needs to wrap up soon and so does Dev(the kid with Sonny) or whatever he is called is an absolute bore like Peter the snore…why is Ava and Nina so chummy when Ava had an affair with Nina’s ex Finn and then Nina tried to steal Ava’s baby…if bad blood history was never between them it would be ok…If keeping ME lets bring back moody John McBain…Mark lawson should had been a Drew recast and could had still been involved with Lulu who needs to be more kick butt being a Spenser
Anna and Julian had a few dates around 1990 when Duke died the first time. That ended once it became apparent Julian was responsible for Duke’s “death”.
Didnt know that as i didnt watch at that time
Peter is a total snore, laughable when he tries out the “tough guy” persona. He’s such a wimp!
i agree
So true, DMRR. If they took away his curling iron, he’d break down in tears! In the past year, he’s either eliminated or wants to eliminate Drew, Andre, Franco, the Franco/Andre assassin, Shiloh, Jason, Spinelli…. who’s next? Baby James?
I wish Putrid Petey was eliminated. He’s the absolute worst.
Are we supposed to feel sorry for Valentin? Because I don’t. The man is a sociopath and, worst of all, had no compunction about threatening Spencer, a child. Meanwhile, that little demon seed Charlotte is like a mirror image of her dad: a spoiled brat. The creepy Peter character/actor is dragging down the show AND Anna as well. Can’t wait for him to be exposed and maybe expedite the return of Drew. I love Constance Towers but Helena has been ruined for me with her sick sadism and I’d rather she never return.
NO! NEVER feel sorry for Valentin! And Helena should never return. How about a NEW story line once in a while. Or at least once in a very blue moon.
Soaphound
Hi again! I feel the same way about Val and his daughter. She is so much like him, even if they turn out to be unrelated. She plays the evil seed very well , the way she treated Aiden, her own cousin, or anyone else that gets in her way.
Sooo tired of Anna and her troubled past and family. Finn has his precious Violet. Please move him on and out of Anna’s mausoleum.
Tired of Anna and her pencil skirts and booties. Finn needs someone else, it’s plain as day. Anna and Robert together makes complete sense.
Stephanie, Hi, yes you are right. Let the two old fogeys grow old together. I can see why Finn would take his little girl out of a place where the mother is protecting her killer son, that she doesn’t want to admit to.
Too bad the episode didn’t air on Friday. The headline could read: A Not So Happy Valentin’s Day in PC.
A stellar performance by JPS.
Usually not one of my favorite characters, Finn was a standout yesterday. Someone who puts their child first — attention Sam McCall, you might learn something from him. Kudos to Epiphany to not letting her and Jason off easily. That couple has lost all its luster.
As Finn and Violet were leaving the house, I kept wondering where’s Roxie?
Well, Steve, you’re certainly right about JaSam. They look as bored as we are. And WHY does Sam continually address Jason by name multiple times in every scene when he’s the only other person the room? “Jason what do we do?”. “Jason, where are our kids? I haven’t seen them in days”. “Jason, will you leave me if I start speaking clearly and audibly?”. As for Roxie, she’s probably off-contract and holding out for more screen time. I say give her ALL of Peter’s time.
Great pun!
Steve,
Yes, Finn has kind of deserted Roxie hasn’t he?
Roxie left Finn and moved in with Mariguana, the reptilian mascot of the TYT Network.
James Patrick Stuart is finally showing what a good actor he can be and finally Finn and Robert put Anna in her place though I fear Peter is not going anywhere so don’t get excited. Lol
The acting in these scenes was good but I don’t buy this big love between Anna and Finn. It is clearly a forced pairing. I recall they’ve been propped by Faison to Emma and everyone in between Port Charles. Enough. Please move Finn on!
Agree with the forced pairing. We need a fiery redhead to join GH and rock his world. Way beyond time.
Hayden.
No not Hayden!
First of all, Jason Patrick is horrible when he tries to act mad or sad. He looks like a little boy whose lunch was just stolen!
I like Finn standing up and being a man! He is only looking out for Anna. Peter is a slug! Even Robert recognizes Robin and Jason’s friendship and washes his hands of Faison’s son and Laura Wright’s boyfriend!
I am all for Jax and Nina. He is a real man!
Lucas will smarten up and Brad will get his punishment. Although, I can see Brad blackmailing Julian.
Thanks for saying it, Timmm, as I’ve been a little afraid to. I’ve always thought Valentin is played like a cartoon villain ala Snidely Whiplash or Yosemite Sam. It’s not BAD acting, exactly, but hardly innovative. Jax & Nina are pure gold, but I feel bad for Lucas and Brad. Even though he’s a screwup, Lucas really believed in Brad’s ability to change. By the way, if Lucas looks that sexy just coming out of a coma, I may look into it.
Soaphound,
Right again! Lucas is a hunk and definitely wasted on the likes of Brad, yuk, yuk!
I found Valentin’s performance a bit over the top. But Helena looked great!
However, the story of the Cassadine curse has long lost its “punch.” The writers need to give us some other great story lines.
And, so glad that Anna is “Finnish.” She needs to have another great love story with Robert. How great it would be indeed to see the slow “rekindling” of that “fire” that was so great years ago. How sweet if they “rediscovered” each other again. They are so great together they “could finish each other’s sentences. And the ad-libbing–oh, how wondrous!
This show has stepped up its game so much. The acting has been first class!! If Stephen Nichols was to jump the sinking ship called Days of Our Lives again–I wouldn’t mind Stefan coming back to GH-perhaps he and Finola would be a great pairing.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

Photo: PGibbons
IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.
Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.
Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

Photo: ABC
WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON
Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”
Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Courtesy/ABC
Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”
When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES
One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”
“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good. I was working with Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.
A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?
As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”
Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.
You can check out the full conversation with Chad Duell below.
Now let us know: what show would you like to see Chad cast on down the line? BTG, DAYS, B&B, Y&R, or a new role on GH? What did you think of his thoughts on the casting switch while he was away in the role of Michael? What was your favorite Michael storyline during Chad’s 15-year run on the ABC soap opera? General Hospital
GENERAL HOSPITAL: Ric’s History of Jealousy Where Elizabeth is Concerned Has Come Back Around

On General Hospital, Ric Lansing (Rick Heart) is about to fall back into dangerous old patterns by the foreshadowing during the Wednesday, August 19 episode. After first coming to see his brother, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and telling him of his plan to propose to Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) his longtime love tonight, Sonny has concerned.
Next, Sonny reminds his brother of what has happened in the past, when things have gone south with Elizabeth and wonders if it’s too soon for him to propose to her. What Ric did not tell Sonny is that he has seen the developing closeness between Sonny’s son, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Elizabeth, which is propelling his urgent need to propose.
Meanwhile, Dante ran into Elizabeth at the park during a break from their mutual team softball games. She needs help with a bookcase after the game at her house. Dante wants to put it together for her. Later, Dante arrived at Elizabeth’s house, limping after injuring his knee during the game. Head nurse Liz wanted to check out the injury as much as Dante protested, which required him to take off his pants.

Courtesy/ABC
RIC BEGINS TO UNRAVEL
Outside Elizabeth’s widow, Ric arrives with a bouquet of roses and the engagement ring. When he leers through the widow he is shocked to see Elizabeth rubbing Dante’s leg while Dante is in his boxer/shorts. He storm troops into the house, demanding to know what is going on here? Both Elizabeth and Dante look surprised by his reaction. In the pick-up of today’s Thursday, August 20 episode (see GH video teaser below), viewers will learn the upshot for all three characters.
A VENGEFUL PAST
As longtime GH fans know, Ric has done some horrible, vengeful things in regards to Elizabeth starting back in 2003 after she lost her baby after Ric’s ex, Faith Rosco pushed her down a flight of stairs. Ric accused Sonny for the accident and to get revenge, Ric kidnapped Carly (who was married to Sonny at the time), and stashed her in a panic room below the house where he was living with Liz.
On top of that, Ric fed his wife Elizabeth birth control pills to keep her from getting pregnant so that they could raise Carly’s baby together after it was born. Eventually, Elizabeth found Carly in the panic room but ended up having a pulmonary embolism. When she woke up in the hospital, Elizabeth was all confused by what happened, and Ric convinced her that her vision of Carly was just a bad dream. Eventually, Elizabeth learned the horrifying truth and divorced Ric.
Years later, Ric noticed the connection between Elizabeth and “Jake Doe” who eventually turned out to be Drew (Billy Miller) A jealous Ric hired Hayden Barnes to show up and claim to be “Jake’s” wife. Elizabeth stepped aside, and when Ric planned to propose to Elizabeth at the 2015 Nurses Ball, Carly exposed his manipulations, and Elizabeth dumped him yet again. And those are just two examples of the lengths Ric will go to for Elizabeth!
So, we ask you, given the history of Elizabeth and Ric, how do you see this playing out with Dante in the picture? How will Ric derail their growing bond? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
