Photo: JPI

Fans of Days of our Lives were very excited heading into the Memorial Day weekend, when NBC released its sizzling summer preview for the long-running soap, which contained a few surprises and moments to be on the lookout for.

First, Xander is smooching with Gwen, later EJ finally makes his long-awaited re-emergence on the canvas with actor Dan Feuerriegel taking over the role.

Later, Daytime Emmy-winner, Greg Vaughan is seen back on the series, as Eric comes home to be with Nicole, only she is now holding a secret that she cheated on him while he was away in Africa.

Then, Allie is thrilled to see her brother Johnny DiMera return to Salem in a SORASd version of the character, plus it looks like Ciara is back with the return of Victoria Konefal. Will Cin finally be reunited?

Watch the entire promo below. Then let us know what you are looking forward to most this summer on DAYS in the comment section.

Greg Vaughan: Hallelujah! Okay, forget what I said about the horrible writing on DOOL. If this preview shows what is in store in the coming weeks, there is reason to CELEBRATE!! — Like it’s 1999 (or some version of that)!

I 2nd your sentiments! The soulful gorgeous greg vaughan can add more heat to the summer and melt my screen ! I hope the ptb give him and Nicole the attention they deserve especially after that budget wedding they gave them after more decades of being a tortured couple! And how refreshing is it to actually see teens being teens in the summer and hanging out by the beach!? Its been forever since soaps focused on the teen set during those younger audience focused days but fortunatly Ron remembers how much fun they used to be! Thank you Days for… Read more »

Thank you, Damien! I definitely agree with your characterization of Greg Vaughan. And your point about the teen set is also worthwhile. Glad we’re sympatico on the direction of this show. Take care, Friend!

SORAs’d Johnny looks too much like Will, including being about the same age. He should have dark hair and look more like a DiMera. Also, didn’t he lose an eye when he had cancer as a little kid? It must have grown back like Philip’s amputated leg did. Not at all surprised to see Eric back, and Ciara back yet again. Not betting anybody’s soul as to how long either one will stick around though. And as for NuElvis…. well, we all know what the recasts have been like on this show since ReRon has been writing, so don’t expect… Read more »

Oh, Satan….you are too funny for words. I greedily look for your comments just to have a good laugh!! …. I hope Sami and Lucas do get back together. Pardonnez-moi, mes amis, but I have had my fill of Australians and Brits running around everywhere…..including Harry Windsor —cry me a river. Now, Nicole—-what the hey??——-cross your legs!!—albeit Xander has THEEEEE bod!! I speak as a married woman in love with her husband. I don’t get it!! Why do soaps continually kill marriages? Why put characters in such situations? Am I the only fool who cannot understand how a woman falls… Read more »

Looks like a fun summer. I’m happy to see Johnny. EJ isn’t as dashing as I’d like him to be but I’ll give it time.
And how clever that Jackee lives in 227.

Very clever reference indeed. Is she out to destroy Horton Square, as we know it I wonder.

Pretty interesting preview, I’m intrigued! So, Abe narrates the beginning of the new summer promo and he is not even featured at all in the New Summer Promo itself??? We need to see more of Abe, has he been reduced to re-occurring? I’d like to see Valerie return and have her hook-up with Abe again. Ok, So glad ERIC BRADY is back in the form of Greg Vaughan! With that said, is Eric back…? Is GREG back on-contract??? This article doesn’t relay such information. Is he back short-term? What’s his deal…? I hope we don’t lose GREG again. Happy to… Read more »

P.S. I miss Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey). Zander & now, Gwen?!?! NO!!! Return Sarah Horton! And, I hope that Maggie & Victor return at some point when they are ready/comfortable to come back even if they just pop in/out. I miss them so much on the show. And, totally miss Sonny & Will!

She quit. Maybe after awhile they will bring Sarah back with a different actress in the role? They do that a lot on soaps.

Linsey did not quit. She was let go.

Zander and Gwen? How is that for bangers and mash!?!?

I was thrilled and intrigued by the promo, but you pose some interesting questions, Jeremy. To be continued…

Ah! I loved bangers and mash when I went to school in the UK for my BA/MA. Wish I could move back.

Uh oh! They say that Nicole is holding a secret. I bet its a live secret, courtesy of Xander.

It would be ridiculous for them to attempt to write Nicole as “pregnant” now. After her 666 previous miscarriages, the whole “Sydnapping” storyline where she stole Sami’s kid & was raising her with Elvis, and the drama over Chloe’s secret surrogate pregnancy with Holly, the spawn of Nicole & the time traveling mutant Eggman, Daniel Jonas. So Nicole’s inability to carry a child has been fairly well established. Her one night stand with Xander will probably be revealed to Eric at some point, of course. But there won’t be any direct physical evidence of it. More likely just Sami telling… Read more »

Hey, James,
Nicole getting pregnant was the first thought that popped into my head.–I said as much above, to Satan. What would be the reason? To break up Nicole and Eric.
Having sex does not always bear fruit—-Plus, Nicole could have hidden her cheating forever—-lying is certainly not beneath her. She’s a survivor and as such, she would do anything not to get caught.
But, she can’t hide a pregnancy unless she has an abortion.
Later, my friend!!

Hi Celia: I agree with your perspective on this. I like the character of Nicole and understand her flaws. I’m always willing to give her a pass, but I doubt that Eric will… And it’s not beneath Nicole to pass off Zander’s baby as Eric’s — timing be damned! I didn’t see today’s episode yet, but I fully expect Nicole to vomit sometime soon. And on that note, take care, Friend!

Celia

Very true, James. Nicole could very well try to pass a baby as Eric’s. If it’s only a span of a couple of weeks, Nicole may not even know who the baby daddy is, herself….–or say the baby is a premie–
A woman’s bodily functions can be irregular, time and again—-so, if she is, indeed, pregnant; I wonder if she will just be complacent about not knowing —-until the baby is in dire straits and needs daddy’s blood—- typically commonplace for a soap.
Bye, my friend–

I don’t like the Gwen character, but she is portrayed by a good actress. I am gonna hate seeing Xander with Gwen. I prefer Xander with Sarah. I didn’t like seeing Xander with Nicole, but I at least like the Nicole character. It really bugged me Kristen confessed about all her captors except for Sarah. It bugs me no one (Rex, Maggie) has compared stories regarding Sarah yet and figured out she is really missing. Xander would be rescuing his dear Sarah and that would be a good story. Even if he had moved on with another flame, he would… Read more »

Maybe Kristen said something to drugged up Kate who will eventually remember. Or something is said to Chloe. As for Gwen she has all the makings of an Iris Carrington. Jack will very likely hire her at the paper she will excel and then devote her life to making Jennifer’s life hell.

Celia

Well said—Agreed—Great analysis–except that Kate is faking it. How far will she go with the charade? Gwen is a mystery. Is she really trying to change? If so, she should fess up by telling the truth—even if it means disappointing Jack again—-even if she thinks there’s the risk of losing his trust—doing so can only strengthen their bond as father and daughter; not diminish it. The truth is the simplest way out!! She should divulge the fact that she’s being blackmailed. Some characters appear so innocent and victimized, yet beneath that seeming vulnerability lies a viper. —Reminds me of another… Read more »

Oh how I adore Gregg Vaughan!!! I have been a huge fan of his ever since his breakout soap interduction on “Y&R” way back when. I have followed his career ever since. Total leading man with great looks & talent!! I might add a very sexy body!!! Glad he’s back!!!!

I wish Eric and Greg had stayed gone. I don’t enjoy him as Eric. His performance is boring.

Other than that, the preview looks great!

Celia

I agree, Momo—-don’t like the character myself—too holier-than-thou. Too sedate. Reminds me of Michael on GH. What a bore!!—albeit, I am anticipating where the Nicole/Xander/Eric plot-line goes—-if there is a story to be told.
Then again, methinks a romance between Xander and Gwen seems to be stirring on the horizon.
Will Xander be the hero to figure out Dr. Whatshisname is a baddie and save the day?

Well, Eric was a priest! LOL I liked Eric when Jensen played him.

I understand now why Sarah had to go.

Celia

LOL—being a priest doesn’t necessarily make any man of the cloth adhere to his vows. I am Roman Catholic, yet, the vow of chastity is man-made, not God-made. I, personally, do not agree for priests or nuns to be celibate–but, who am I? Nothing!! However, God did say to go and multiply. Once upon a time priests were able to marry–until 1123 when someone in the Curch’s council changed the rules and forbade sex —-for both priests and nuns—but, with a “wholelotta” hanky-panky going on. Seriously, whether he be priest or nay, Eric is no inspiration to anyone or anything.… Read more »

And? What happens now? I’m pretty certain Nicole has fallen out of love with her husband—she has the hots for Rafe—she satiated that craving with Xander. Ahh, these crazy children—so fickle!! LOL.
Okay, on another note—soooo–what’s with the fire at the cabin? Poetic justice?? Or just another normal, insane day for nutty Jan?!

That has to be the 666th fire in that cabin. I don’t know what kind of wood they used to build that thing, but if it’s really that fire resistant, I got to get a few truckloads of that kind of lumber shipped down here to Hell, where it would really be useful!

Days Of Our Lives

DAYS Billy Flynn Delivers The ‘Power Performance of the Week’

Let’s just start this by saying if you missed last Thursday’s episode of Days of our Lives on Peacock, you missed beautifully touching and effective performances by both Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera) and Marci Miller (ex-Abigail).

Leading up to it, Chad had a gut-wrenching week.  He figured out that Clyde (James Read) was the culprit that murdered his wife and later confronted him.  That led to key scenes where Chad confronts Clyde at Abigail’s gravesite and wants to hear all the gory details of how Clyde stabbed his wife, and then learned how the criminal covered his tracks, went after Sonny (Zach Tinker) and stabbed him, and framed Leo (Greg Rikaart) for the crimes.

Photo: JPI

Throughout the reveal, Billy Flynn played all of Chad’s pain and horror, while holding a gun at Clyde baiting him on – problem was Clyde is so despicable he had no problem telling Chad the grisly truth.  During a struggle for the gun with Chad, it is EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) who saves the day and shoots Clyde.  The two brothers bond over their shared disdain for Clyde.

Later at the Salem PD, EJ apologizes to Chad for bringing Clyde into their lives and for what happened to Abigail.  Chad takes it in but does not explode, rather appreciates his brother for saving his life.

Photo: JPI

However, the emotional rollercoaster that Chad went through, and the audience, in the expert hands of Flynn, was nothing compared to the heartbreaking scenes where Abigail visits Chad at her gravesite, now that he solved the murder mystery.

Abigail is proud that Chad found her killer and tells him that she wants him to love again and that it’s OK to move on.  She knows he will always love her, and she will always love him.  Then, when Abigail asks Chad to tell her what traits their children, Thomas and Charlotte, possess that remind him of Abigail, it was very tender and not overplayed.  When it was time for their final goodbyes, both Flynn and Miller reminded us all why #Chabby was one of the best duos in DAYS history.

Photo: JPI

In the end, it was Billy Flynn who carried the ball all the way to the end zone and scored a touchdown in the conclusion of Chad and Abigail’s love story.  It is always a nice to see when DAYS decides to write for and feature material which plays to Flynn’s strengths, and this did.

Photo: JPI

So, for all the reasons stated above, Michael Fairman TV names Billy Flynn’s work as the Power Performance of the Week.

What did you think of the Chad and Abigail goodbye scenes at her gravesite? What did you think of Billy’s performance and the reveal that Clyde Weston was Abigail’s murderer? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.  But first, check out our latest conversation with Billy, and his DAYS co-stars Greg Rikaart and Mary Beth Evans now on the Michael Fairman Channel below, where Billy discusses taping the pivotal scenes and more.

DAYS Billy Flynn, Greg Rikaart & Mary Beth Evans Talk On: Abigail’s Murderer Revealed, Orpheus’ Poisonous Plot & the Move to Peacock

September had been a pivotal month for Days of our Lives.  After nearly 57-years on broadcast television, the long-running soap opera shifted from NBC to exclusively streaming on Peacock.  While fans have been adjusting and wrapping their heads around the change, the stories of the characters you love to love, or love to hate, are continuing to play out in Salem.

This week, after months of a whodunit and who is to blame for the death of Chad’s wife, Abigail DiMera, DAYS fans finally learned that the actual killer was none other than Clyde Weston (James Read).  Meanwhile, Kayla has taken ill along with Marlena (Deidre Hall) and Kate (Lauren Koslow), all a part of Orpheus’ (George DelHoyo) longstanding feud with the women and the men in their lives.

Photo: JPI

Now on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel, DAYS stars: Billy Flynn (Chad), Greg Rikaart (Leo) and Mary Beth Evans (Kayla) discuss their latest storylines, plus their thoughts on the soaps move on Peacock and its future.

As viewers witnessed on recent episodes, Chad figured out that it was Clyde who murdered Abigail, and went after him with a gun. Chad decided he wanted to hear the entire sordid story of how Clyde killed her.  This led to the showdown scenes at Abigail’s gravesite which included a visit by EJ (Dan Feuerriegel), who saved his brother from Clyde. During this interview, Billy weighs-in on taping the climatic scenes, what it was like to blame multiple characters for months for Abigail’s death, plus what the future holds in store for Chad as he moves on with his life post-Chabby.

Photo: JPI

Greg Rikaart shares his thoughts on if he ever thought Leo would turn out to be Abigail’s murderer since Leo had a revenge plot against those who wronged him. Rikaart also weighs-in on the story where Leo had a relationship with Craig Wesley, his enduring on-screen relationship with Emily O’Brien (Gwen, ex-Jana, Y&R) , plus working with Billy in the limited-series Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem, where Chad goes in drag as “Belinda Chinashop” and more.

Photo: JPI

Mary Beth talks on Kayla’s latest plight; that  being kidnapped by Orpheus along with Marlena and Kate, the good doctor has become very sick while trying to maintain order at University Hospital.  Evans also shares her thoughts on the arrival of Abigail Klein as her on-screen daughter Stephanie, the departure of Marci Miller as Abigail, and more.

Check out our full interview with Billy, Greg and Mary Beth below, and make sure to ‘subscribe’ to the Michael Fairman Channel for more celebrity interviews, music videos, game shows and special event coverage.

Now let us know, what did you think of Clyde being revealed as Abigail’s true killer? What did you think of the confrontation scenes between Billy Flynn and James Read? What has been your favorite Leo moment since Greg came to DAYS?  Will Kayla figure out what Orpheus has done to her and others? Finally, are you enjoying DAYS on Peacock after its first few weeks of the series exclusively streaming? Share your thoughts in the comment section,

Roark Critchlow on His Return to DAYS and Working With Cady McClain

It’s been 12 years since Roark Critchlow appeared on Days of our Lives as Dr. Mike Horton, the brother of Jennifer Horton Deveraux (Cady McClain). However, fans have been excited to see him back on their screens when the series teased his appearance in the extended fall preview.

Now with Jennifer spiraling downward (now that her pill-popping addiction is back), it seems like a good time for Dr. Mike to return to Salem to help his sis. (And if the promo for this week’s DAYS is any indication, it certainly looks like Jennifer is going to be involved in a car crash and need medical assistance or at least some brotherly love.)

Photo: JPI

Roark initially appeared as Mike back in 1994 and left the soap back in 1999. He returned in 2010 for a few episodes honoring the late Frances Reid (Alice Horton) who was Mike’s grandmother.

In an interview about his return with Soap Opera Digest on newsstands now, Roark talks about working with McClain as Jennifer, when he previously worked with Missy Reeves in the part.

Critchlow expressed on sharing scenes with McClain: “Her character is going through a lot. She and I dropped in really easily, I felt. It was a very nice, natural care for each other. It wasn’t difficult, that’s for sure. Obviously, Missy is a super-duper person. But you don’t compare people. Cady and I chatted. We got on good. In terms of story, I thought we pulled it off nicely as being people who’ve known each other their whole lives.”

Look for Roark to make his DAYS re-emergence on the upcoming October 3rd episode of the Peacock streaming series.

So, looking forward to seeing Roark and Cady sharing scenes together? Share your thoughts in the comment section, but first check out this week’s promo for DAYS below.
