Days Of Our Lives
Greg Vaughan Makes a Return to DAYS; and a SORAS’d Johnny! Watch the New Summer Preview
Fans of Days of our Lives were very excited heading into the Memorial Day weekend, when NBC released its sizzling summer preview for the long-running soap, which contained a few surprises and moments to be on the lookout for.
First, Xander is smooching with Gwen, later EJ finally makes his long-awaited re-emergence on the canvas with actor Dan Feuerriegel taking over the role.
Later, Daytime Emmy-winner, Greg Vaughan is seen back on the series, as Eric comes home to be with Nicole, only she is now holding a secret that she cheated on him while he was away in Africa.
Then, Allie is thrilled to see her brother Johnny DiMera return to Salem in a SORASd version of the character, plus it looks like Ciara is back with the return of Victoria Konefal. Will Cin finally be reunited?
Watch the entire promo below. Then let us know what you are looking forward to most this summer on DAYS in the comment section.
Greg Vaughan: Hallelujah! Okay, forget what I said about the horrible writing on DOOL. If this preview shows what is in store in the coming weeks, there is reason to CELEBRATE!! — Like it’s 1999 (or some version of that)!
I 2nd your sentiments! The soulful gorgeous greg vaughan can add more heat to the summer and melt my screen ! I hope the ptb give him and Nicole the attention they deserve especially after that budget wedding they gave them after more decades of being a tortured couple!
And how refreshing is it to actually see teens being teens in the summer and hanging out by the beach!? Its been forever since soaps focused on the teen set during those younger audience focused days but fortunatly Ron remembers how much fun they used to be!
Thank you Days for continuing to bring it!
Thank you, Damien! I definitely agree with your characterization of Greg Vaughan. And your point about the teen set is also worthwhile. Glad we’re sympatico on the direction of this show. Take care, Friend!
SORAs’d Johnny looks too much like Will, including being about the same age. He should have dark hair and look more like a DiMera. Also, didn’t he lose an eye when he had cancer as a little kid? It must have grown back like Philip’s amputated leg did.
Not at all surprised to see Eric back, and Ciara back yet again. Not betting anybody’s soul as to how long either one will stick around though.
And as for NuElvis…. well, we all know what the recasts have been like on this show since ReRon has been writing, so don’t expect much from him. Looks like Sami & Lucas might get back together for good if this guy’s the competition.
Oh, Satan….you are too funny for words. I greedily look for your comments just to have a good laugh!! ….
I hope Sami and Lucas do get back together. Pardonnez-moi, mes amis, but I have had my fill of Australians and Brits running around everywhere…..including Harry Windsor —cry me a river.
Now, Nicole—-what the hey??——-cross your legs!!—albeit Xander has THEEEEE bod!!
I speak as a married woman in love with her husband. I don’t get it!!
Why do soaps continually kill marriages? Why put characters in such situations? Am I the only fool who cannot understand how a woman falls onto sweaty sheets without being in love? Drunk or nay?? This happens over and over—-Watch out—Nicole will come up pregnant. Wanna bet?
Looking forward to ALL of that! Looks like a great summer!
Looks like a fun summer. I’m happy to see Johnny. EJ isn’t as dashing as I’d like him to be but I’ll give it time.
And how clever that Jackee lives in 227.
Moto62
Very clever reference indeed. Is she out to destroy Horton Square, as we know it I wonder.
Pretty interesting preview, I’m intrigued! So, Abe narrates the beginning of the new summer promo and he is not even featured at all in the New Summer Promo itself??? We need to see more of Abe, has he been reduced to re-occurring? I’d like to see Valerie return and have her hook-up with Abe again.
Ok, So glad ERIC BRADY is back in the form of Greg Vaughan! With that said, is Eric back…? Is GREG back on-contract??? This article doesn’t relay such information. Is he back short-term? What’s his deal…? I hope we don’t lose GREG again.
Happy to see Dan as EJ, finally, June 9th and there-after should be quite fascinating with the ‘Return of EJ’.
So, who is the actor playing Johnny? The article also doesn’t relay that information, either. And, isn’t there another child, too? Sydney? What about her? Is she coming to Salem or sticking around in Italy alone?
I’m very glad to see that Lani and Eli are featured in the Summer Promo and it will be interesting to see how long Ciara will be in story. Is this a short or long run for the character? Same with Eric, I’d like to know if he is back full-time or if it’s just a short visit to tie things up. I had no clue/idea from any of the other soapie websites that Greg was willing to return, after referring to himself on the show, as feeling like a “glorified extra”, hence his departure last fall.
The promo looks quite promising for summer. Though, I’d really like to see more inclusivity this summer. Give Lani and Eli a meaty storyline! And, do I dare ask, what is up with Paulina? And no Marlena & John in the preview summer promo… Jan Spears is sticking around still? WHAT? (LOL)
btw- Rafe & Ava are HOT!
P.S. I miss Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey). Zander & now, Gwen?!?! NO!!! Return Sarah Horton! And, I hope that Maggie & Victor return at some point when they are ready/comfortable to come back even if they just pop in/out. I miss them so much on the show. And, totally miss Sonny & Will!
She quit. Maybe after awhile they will bring Sarah back with a different actress in the role? They do that a lot on soaps.
Linsey did not quit. She was let go.
Zander and Gwen? How is that for bangers and mash!?!?
I was thrilled and intrigued by the promo, but you pose some interesting questions, Jeremy. To be continued…
Ah! I loved bangers and mash when I went to school in the UK for my BA/MA. Wish I could move back.
Uh oh! They say that Nicole is holding a secret. I bet its a live secret, courtesy of Xander.
It would be ridiculous for them to attempt to write Nicole as “pregnant” now. After her 666 previous miscarriages, the whole “Sydnapping” storyline where she stole Sami’s kid & was raising her with Elvis, and the drama over Chloe’s secret surrogate pregnancy with Holly, the spawn of Nicole & the time traveling mutant Eggman, Daniel Jonas.
So Nicole’s inability to carry a child has been fairly well established. Her one night stand with Xander will probably be revealed to Eric at some point, of course. But there won’t be any direct physical evidence of it. More likely just Sami telling him about it. Or Xander himself bringing it up, since he seems to talk a lot when he’s drunk. And he seems to be drunk a lot lately.
Violet, you went the extra step. You could be onto something, Friend…
Hey, James,
Nicole getting pregnant was the first thought that popped into my head.–I said as much above, to Satan. What would be the reason? To break up Nicole and Eric.
Having sex does not always bear fruit—-Plus, Nicole could have hidden her cheating forever—-lying is certainly not beneath her. She’s a survivor and as such, she would do anything not to get caught.
But, she can’t hide a pregnancy unless she has an abortion.
Later, my friend!!
Hi Celia: I agree with your perspective on this. I like the character of Nicole and understand her flaws. I’m always willing to give her a pass, but I doubt that Eric will… And it’s not beneath Nicole to pass off Zander’s baby as Eric’s — timing be damned! I didn’t see today’s episode yet, but I fully expect Nicole to vomit sometime soon. And on that note, take care, Friend!
Very true, James. Nicole could very well try to pass a baby as Eric’s. If it’s only a span of a couple of weeks, Nicole may not even know who the baby daddy is, herself….–or say the baby is a premie–
A woman’s bodily functions can be irregular, time and again—-so, if she is, indeed, pregnant; I wonder if she will just be complacent about not knowing —-until the baby is in dire straits and needs daddy’s blood—- typically commonplace for a soap.
Bye, my friend–
I don’t like the Gwen character, but she is portrayed by a good actress. I am gonna hate seeing Xander with Gwen. I prefer Xander with Sarah. I didn’t like seeing Xander with Nicole, but I at least like the Nicole character. It really bugged me Kristen confessed about all her captors except for Sarah. It bugs me no one (Rex, Maggie) has compared stories regarding Sarah yet and figured out she is really missing. Xander would be rescuing his dear Sarah and that would be a good story. Even if he had moved on with another flame, he would still be rescuing Sarah as a favor to sweet Maggie. I want Maggie to come back because Xander shows some humanity in her presence and she makes him think before he acts. Like mother like daughter.
Maybe Kristen said something to drugged up Kate who will eventually remember. Or something is said to Chloe. As for Gwen she has all the makings of an Iris Carrington. Jack will very likely hire her at the paper she will excel and then devote her life to making Jennifer’s life hell.
Well said—Agreed—Great analysis–except that Kate is faking it. How far will she go with the charade?
Gwen is a mystery. Is she really trying to change? If so, she should fess up by telling the truth—even if it means disappointing Jack again—-even if she thinks there’s the risk of losing his trust—doing so can only strengthen their bond as father and daughter; not diminish it. The truth is the simplest way out!! She should divulge the fact that she’s being blackmailed.
Some characters appear so innocent and victimized, yet beneath that seeming vulnerability lies a viper.
—Reminds me of another goody-two-shoes victim on Y&R—Tara Locke. She wants Kyle. He will have no choice but to marry her in order to see his son.
Oh how I adore Gregg Vaughan!!! I have been a huge fan of his ever since his breakout soap interduction on “Y&R” way back when. I have followed his career ever since. Total leading man with great looks & talent!! I might add a very sexy body!!! Glad he’s back!!!!
I wish Eric and Greg had stayed gone. I don’t enjoy him as Eric. His performance is boring.
Other than that, the preview looks great!
I agree, Momo—-don’t like the character myself—too holier-than-thou. Too sedate. Reminds me of Michael on GH. What a bore!!—albeit, I am anticipating where the Nicole/Xander/Eric plot-line goes—-if there is a story to be told.
Then again, methinks a romance between Xander and Gwen seems to be stirring on the horizon.
Will Xander be the hero to figure out Dr. Whatshisname is a baddie and save the day?
Well, Eric was a priest! LOL I liked Eric when Jensen played him.
I understand now why Sarah had to go.
LOL—being a priest doesn’t necessarily make any man of the cloth adhere to his vows. I am Roman Catholic, yet, the vow of chastity is man-made, not God-made. I, personally, do not agree for priests or nuns to be celibate–but, who am I? Nothing!!
However, God did say to go and multiply. Once upon a time priests were able to marry–until 1123 when someone in the Curch’s council changed the rules and forbade sex —-for both priests and nuns—but, with a “wholelotta” hanky-panky going on.
Seriously, whether he be priest or nay, Eric is no inspiration to anyone or anything. He’s just there.
And? What happens now? I’m pretty certain Nicole has fallen out of love with her husband—she has the hots for Rafe—she satiated that craving with Xander. Ahh, these crazy children—so fickle!! LOL.
Okay, on another note—soooo–what’s with the fire at the cabin? Poetic justice?? Or just another normal, insane day for nutty Jan?!
That has to be the 666th fire in that cabin. I don’t know what kind of wood they used to build that thing, but if it’s really that fire resistant, I got to get a few truckloads of that kind of lumber shipped down here to Hell, where it would really be useful!
LOL—-only in LaLaLand—-wood that doesn’t burn.
What a nice surprise I didnt think he would ever come back.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Favorites Making Returns: Alison Sweeney, Christie Clark, Chandler Massey and Bryan Dattilo

Great news for Days of Our Lives fans, now that Ryan Quan is co-head writer of the long-running soap opera. Coming in June of 2027 (since DAYS tapes ten or so months ahead), you can look forward to the returns of Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady), Christie Clark (Carrie Brady), Chandler Massey (Will Horton) and Bryan Dattilo (Lucas Horton).
The foursome is back on set and began last week to tape their upcoming story arc, according to TV Insider. As to what exactly is going on that brings sister Sami and Carrie’s history back up, as well as Will and Lucas’ is only being teased at this time, but suffice to say, it should be intriguing.
Alison Sweeney explained on being back on set, “It was a lot of dialogue and emotion, but with all the best actors to work opposite, we fell into it as if no time had passed. It was really wonderful.”

As to working with the longstanding rivalry of Sami and Carrie, Alison added on working with Clark, “So, it really does feel like we’re sisters. It’s so fun, and she’s such a good actor that she makes everything so natural that you can really disappear into those stories.”
JUST LIKE OLD TIMES
It also seems like the deep-history, which often had the sister fighting for the love of Austin Reed, but that might not figure into the equation this time, or will it?
Alison indicated what she thought of the scripts she was given. “I felt like when I read it, it was a page-turner. I was very excited. There’s a lot of history here, and a lot of things that haven’t been said. So, it’s really not like, ‘Oh, rehashing stuff.’ And now having played some of the scenes, I’m psyched.” Sweeney added, as for the men, working again with her on-screen son, Chandler Massey and Will’s on-screen father Bryan Dattilo, was also extra special.
The last time DAYS viewers saw Sami on the canvas was back in November of 2025, when she revealed she has gotten engaged to never-before-seen Dante Vitali. As for Clark, she last visited Salem for the episodes surrounding John Black’s memorial in June of 2025.
Chandler Massey’s Will Horton last made a visit to Salem in November of 2025 when he attended the gala for the Tom Horton Free Clinic as part of the soap opera’s 60th anniversary celebration. Bryan Dattilo was last seen in December of 2025. So, by the time we see all four again it will be close to two years since they were on new episodes of the series. Time to look forward to June of 2027.
So, excited by the news of Alison, Christie, Chandler and Lucas making a return to Days of Our Lives? What do you think the story will be involving, Sami, Carrie, Lucas and Will? Let us know via the comment section.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Alum Al Calderon Talks On His Daytime Emmy-Nominated Scenes as Javi Hernandez (Exclusive)

Last Tuesday, Al Calderon scored the first Emmy nomination of his career for his role as Javi Hernandez on Days of Our Lives.
Calderon name was announced as one of the performers competing for gold in the Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series category at the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards on October 30.
This week, Calderon chatted live on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel for a one-on-one conversation where he discussed: his nominated scenes and time on the Peacock streaming soap opera, his decision to leave DAYS, his role of Nico Silva on Brilliant Minds and its sad cancellation, plus his passing the torch of Javi to Jacob Martinez, who took over the role on-screen on the June 30, 2026 episode of Days of Our Lives.

JAVI REVEALS TO LEO THAT HE HAD A DAUGHTER WHO DIED
Al revealed the scenes that comprise his now Emmy-nominated reel have at its epicenter the heartbreaking moments from the September 12, 2025 episode. In it, Javi shares for the first time to Leo (Greg Rikaart) that he had a daughter named Solana, with a woman he was seeing named Sylvia. One fateful day, Sylvia left their child in a car when she went to work and the little girl died. Javi had blamed himself for not being the parent to take his daughter to school that day since he was hungover the night before, therefore it opened up the opportunity for something to happen to the his child, and it did.
The multi-talented actor/singer explained his reel: “It was the scene where he is talking about his daughter to Leo. I also included the scene where Javi goes to talk to Melinda (Tina Huang) and to see if it would be a viable option to adopt, because I wanted to introduce the subtlety and nuance of why Javi kind of has this whole connection to Tesoro, in a way.”
It is true that Al can bring the tears and make us cry right along with him during his run as Javi. To that, Calderon added, “I’ve read the comments that I’m a little bit of a crybaby, so I didn’t want the entire reel to be of me crying, but I wanted it to show a little bit of an emotional range of the restraint that Javi was feeling so I included that scene
In addition Calderon shared, “I also included a really beautiful scene with Cherie Jimenez (Gabi Hernandez, DAYS) where I’m looking at photos of Tesoro, and of course, Javi is crying. I just wanted to show the relationship between Javi and his family as well, and as I mentioned the reveal of the child that he lost.”

ALUMS AL CALDERON AND ALICE HALSEY REPRESENT DAYS OF OUR LIVES IN EMERGING TALENT CATEGORY
In a twist of fate, Calderon is also nominated in the Emerging Talent category with Alice Halsey who played Rachel Black. Halsey is currently starring in the reboot of Little House on the Prairie in the lead role of Laura Ingalls on Netflix.
As to his hope on Emmy night, Al expressed, “Of course, I want to win, but Alice Halsey is going to give me a run for the money. And if’s not me (who wins the award), it better be her!”
You can check out the full interview with Al below.
Now let us know, do you remember Al’s emotional scenes when he explained to Leo he had a daughter who died, which made it all the more heartbreaking to not end up with permanent custody of Tesoro? What do you think of Al’s chances to win the gold based on his Emmy scene selection? Do you miss him as Javi? Weigh-in via the comment section.

Emily O’Brien Talks On Her Y&R Past as Jana Hawkes and Working with Peter Porte on ‘Days of Our Lives’

On the latest edition of Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart which dropped on Tuesday, July 21, Emily O’Brien is the featured guest. As soap fans know, Emily has worked with Rikaart both in her first soap role on The Young and the Restless as Jana Hawkes and now on Days of Our Lives in her current role of Gwen Rizczech.
While Emily continues on DAYS, she has very impressive list of credits in the other part of her career as a voice-over actress and one in motion-capture in some of the most popular video games in the world.
O’Brien was first seen on The Young and the Restless back in 2006. She recalled her landing the role which eventually paired her for her five year run with Greg Rikaart.

BEING CAST ON THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS
“The role was just a few days and she wasn’t even supposed to be English,” Emily recalled. “The role was originally called Jade. Karen Rae, the casting director of The Young and the Restless at the time said to me “Oh, you’re from England. Try it with the dialect.” I put it on and she said, ‘I’m going to bring you back at like 3 for s callback.’ So then they changed the role to Jana and they said she’s going to be a Brit. I was only supposed to be on for like five episodes and it turned into 5 years.”
In explaining why she loved crazy Jana, Emily shared, “Jana was sort of like the misanthrope. She was just was the odd one out and I loved it. I felt so comfortable playing that because she was just eclectic and weird and she loved playing with Ouija boards and she rode a motorbike. There was just so much color to bring to her. It was just such a great match to play with Greg (Kevin), and Christian LeBlanc (Michael) and Tracey Bregman (Lauren).

GWEN, DIMITRI AND LEO ON DAYS OF OUR LIVES
On Days of Our Lives, the Leo, Gwen, Dimitri dynamic is quite unique and been through many schemes and entanglements. Often Emily finds herself in repartee with her ex-lover, Dimitri, who turned out to be gay and then had a thing for her bestie, Leo (Greg Rikaart)!
During the conversation, Greg and Emily sang, Peter Porte’s praised with O’Brien expressing, “Peter is just ready to play. He comes on set prepared. I’ve never seen him with his script. From blocking and rehearsals, he doesn’t have it. He’s prepared. He’s a physical actor and he always trying to come up with something. I think he let me slap him. He let me kiss him. He let me throw a cheeseburger in his lap. He’s ready for anything for anything.”
You can catch the full episode of ‘Soapy; featuring Emily O’Brien below where the actress also talks about replacing Jen Lilley as Theresa Donovan after being let go as Gwen; and being paired again with Greg Rikaart on the Peacock streaming soap opera this time as best friends and more.
So, were you a big Jana Hawkes and Kevin Fisher fan on Y&R? Did you like them as a couple? Do you like the dynamic between Emily and Peter Porte and Greg Rikaart on DAYS? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
