SNL Spoofs What Soap Operas Would Be Like In COVID-19-Themed ‘The Sands Of Modesto’

Courtesy/NBC

As the entire world is taking precautionary measures against the outbreak of the coronavirus, Saturday Night Live took the opportunity to ham it up and show what it would be like on your favorite daytime dramas with “alternative ways” for a bitch-slap, catfight, a kiss, a phone call and other soap staples that would need to be changed up in order to protect the cast. Even stock footage enters the satire, making it all the more amusing.

Watch what happens when SNL host, Daniel Craig, and the cast including: Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong and Chloe Fineman take on their soap roles in ‘The Sands of Modesto.    Check it out below.

Then let us know if you got a kick out of it, or not, via the comment section below, and while your prepping your thoughts, think of this actually happened on Y&R, DAYS, GH and B&B! Might it up the ratings?

But when he touches her with the fake hand it could have the virus on it couldnt it…anyway this shows an overly panic world…for example here one of the actors or crew member would have to have the virus…and you wouldnt be able to touch anything the way this goes!!!!…just like when you go into a supermarket now and wipe the shopping cart handle-we forget everything in the store has been touched and repeatedly on a daily basis so you really arent protected!!!!

lol, it was funny and over the top, kudos, but in all seriousness, I think GH should do a storyline on the corona virus maybe not hit us over the head w/ it but mention it considering they are a hospital show and have a doctor who specializes in infectious disease ( paging Dr. Finn).

IT was funny. I don’t think it disgraced soap operas. Anyone with half a brain knows our soaps are soooo much more than a spoof ~ and that’s exactly what this was, a spoof on the drama of what some people are calling for regarding this pandemic. While we need to educate ourselves and stay safe, this was some comic relief, in my opinion.

I thought it was very lame. And I (& my mother) can gripe about/make fun/question the craziness of our shows & believe me, we do, BUT I hate when anyone else makes fun of them!

Hysterical. Did they mimic Ramsey’s “acting?”-the overly dramatic, whispering drivel that he spits out.

That’s the comedic take from NBC. Meanwhile, the non-comedy version of NBC throws Lester Holt in your face every damn day like clockwork at 1:00 PM to give you the daily fear report and cut into Days airtime (though never the Big Pharma commercials, of course), even though there’s very little actual news in what they’re reporting. And certainly nothing that couldn’t wait for the nightly news.

Julianne Hough Replaces Tyra Banks as New Co-Host of ‘Dancing with the Stars’

After Tyra Banks revealed she was stepping away from Dancing with the Stars, a new co-host needed to be named and it looks like the reality-ballroom dance competition series has found their gal.

Julianne Hough, will rejoin the series, but this time as the new co-host alongside Alfonso Ribeiro.  Hough has previously appeared on the dance series as both a pro dancer and a judge.

With Julianne returning to the ballroom, she will be reunited with her brother, Derek Hough, who will be back at the judges table for the show’s upcoming 32nd season streaming on Disney+.

The new co-host has twice won the mirrorball trophy with celebrity partners, Apolo Ohno and Hélio Castroneves, during Dancing with the Stars fourth and fifth seasons on ABC.

As for Tyra Banks, last week, she told TMZ that she felt that it was time for her to exit DWTS and focus on her business and entrepreneurship, and that she would also be producing more TV but behind the scenes.

What do you think of Julianne replacing Tyra in the ballroom for season 32 of DWTS? Comment below.
