THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS: Nick and Sharon Band Together to Help Faith in Crisis Reminiscent of Cassie Tragedy
This week on Y&R, Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case) are brought back to the horrific tragedy of their beloved late daughter, Cassie, who died following complications from a car accident almost 15 years ago.
Now in 2021, their daughter Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind) is at the epicenter of a catfishing charade and is cyper-bullied from other kids and classmates and goes MIA.
Faith, who previously has been turning to booze, then begins to drink out of a liquor bottle and has limited experience with getting behind the wheel of a car, a set-up for potential disaster.
Joshua Morrow, who spoke with Soap Opera Digest in their latest issue on newsstands now about the story teased, that Nick and Sharon try to track Faith down. Morrow shared: “They’re the worst possible factors imaginable for your child to be in. Nick and Sharon are desperate to find Faith, but they’ve been through this path before with Cassie. Will tragedy strike again?”
Check out this week’s promo from Y&R below. In addition, below that ,check out the Michael Fairman Channel interview last summer when during Covid-19, the CBS Daytime drama series rebroadcast the episode of Cassie’s Death, and Michael spoke with Sharon Case, Joshua Morrow and Camryn Grimes (Ex-Cassie, now Mariah) about the emotional story.
Then, let us know what you think of this storypoint? Do you hope this brings Sharon and Nick closer again? Do you hope Faith will be alright? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
This just feels recycled and half-assed if I am being honest. If you cannot come up with something original and worthwhile, maybe you should not be in the position you’re in. #JustSaying
And considering this is an exit storyline to Alyvia Alyn Lind, I would like to thank her for growing up on our screens and for the hard work she’s dedicated to the role of Faith Newman.
Agreed!! Either bring Nick and Sharon together and stop the torment.—or just cut-it-out!!
This is a replay of the “Cassie accident”— redundant, to say the least.
By the same token, Sharon and Nick were IT for me back in the day. I loved them as a couple.
Well, the symmetry of the Cassie redux story is interesting to me, but not Nick and Sharon AGAIN. How many men can she dangle at once? Wait, don’t answer that. I like Sharon with Adam/Mark; they have a real spark. I don’t like Adam being set up AGAIN so soon after the Alissa/Chance shooting. Faith has been through the wringer, no doubt, and my hope is that this will bring everyone closer. Maybe even Adam could somehow help Faith…some redemption is due there.
Hey, Soaphound—-
I have the day off from school, today—-just going through comments.
I think Sharon and Adam will come together when all is said and done— I do believe my wish will never come to pass—-as usual, you are right.
I had a thought, after today’s episode—-Faith needs a kidney and to make things really worse, she has a rare blood type. —-actually, she has two kidneys—so, if circumstances are so dire, remove it—-she can live with one kidney—unless both kidneys are damaged.
Also, I have it from a professional source that Y&R does not have the medical facts straight when discussing nephritis.
Nonetheless, this mock illness is a ploy to bring Adam back—why? He has the same rare blood type as his niece, Faith. Voila’ ,
Adam to the rescue. Will everyone love and accept him now? —–or must we go through this torturous vision of Chelsea faking her paralysis? Can’t wait for her to go away.
I see that the resident fact checker is speculating again and castigating others (in a different thread) for voicing their own speculation. And the world turns…
James, if you’ve got something to say to ME, say it to ME and not in some really childish, playground manner. In what way have I voiced “my own speculation?” Don’t be so childish. It isn’t cute.
As we welcome Reylyn Caster,I will always think of Alyvia Alyn as Faith. We watched her grow up as Faith, and the young Dolly Parton was unforgettable. All the very best to her in the future. I think this young star can achieve anything she goes for!
I think replaying similar circumstances to Cassie’s death is lazy writing by Josh Griffith, not to mention extremely cruel to Sharon and Nick. Come on already, come up with something new. No one wants to see them reliving Cassie’s accident with Faith. But after all these years, I do think the shared heartache of what’s happened to Faith and the pull of family should bring Sharon and Nick back together. With most any other couple co-parenting would be enough, but not with these two, a past and still beloved super couple. They have way too much hot chemistry and history just to be “friends”. It’s been long enough (way too long by Soap standards). It’s time for Shick to reunite for good, a la Nikki and Victor, and stop going from partner to partner in their middle age. Reunite them and let them continue navigating through new storylines as a united couple again. I’m going to miss AAL so much though, she was fabulous!
Well said. I will always root for Nick and Sharon as a couple again. But, it looks like it isn’t going to happen.
This is good–now, if only Sharon and Nick would be a coüple again. But, I doubt it —-Sharon and Mark are an item in real life–ergo, chances are they will be “involved” on the show—if Chelsea is caught as the baddie who poisened Ray, that is, she will soon be history, I hope.
It’s no secret I can barely stand the character–
I must say, I am so disappointed to see the role of Faith be recast. ….Love her.
Oh Celia, after all that melodramatic voice-over hype, I thought Chelsea would at least have some ingenious plan that I could get behind (even though I like Adam) and enjoy watching play out. No such luck. Poisoning an innocent police detective? Really? What’s fun about that? That’s a lot worse than kissing Sharon, isn’t it? And she’s dragged Chloe into it, even though Chloe didn’t even want ADAM hurt physically, let alone Rey! Sorry, I’m on Team Adam, especially if he gets to stick it to loathsome Billy and manipulative, humorless Victoria in the boardroom.
Hey, Soaphound—-I think Chelsea is on her way out. I may be wrong, but why would TPTB go through this elaborate, criminal scheme if not to oust the character? Good riddance, as far as I’m concerned.
Worse than kissing Sharon? HaHa—you’re a riot!!
Chloe? Yeah, I don’t get that!! You’re right—why drag her into it??
Is she off to the hoosegow, too? Partners in crime and all—-
I agree about Billy—-never liked Thompson’s “version” of the character—but, we are partial to Billy Miller and no one else will do.
I used to love Victoria—-the character has changed ….for the worse. I suppose the show-runners are trying to bring forth the Victor Newman’s gene of ruthless wheeling and dealing. Considering Nick is a wuss (in his father’s eyes), Victoria is the next best thing.
What’s astonishing to me is that Victoria is “partnerless”—isn’t it the PTP’s wont to pair everyone up, no matter what??
I know, Celia. Victoria used to be my favorite female character. Now, we’re to swallow the preposterous idea that NO OTHER MAN IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD can replace this smug, humorless, vindictive version of Billy? Sorry, does not compute. What was also really funny to me was Chelsea going with minimal makeup UNTIL she started sticking it to Adam. Just who exactly decided, “Oh, Chelsea needs lip gloss today”?
PS—Soaphound—Do you like Lily with Billy? I wish Daniel would return—loved their little, big supercouple romance ( pardon the oxymoron)—-Thompson does not light any fires. No spark with either Lily or Phyllis.
I wasn’t watching GH when he was on the show—did he always have this “duh” personality?
Christel Khalil appeared in “Matilda”—I was ten years old when the movie came put—-she was beautiful even as a kid. We’re about the same age and I thought she was all that. She and Thompson are as mismatched as Finn and Anna on GH!!
I can see Lily with Adam, the brooding, misunderstood, weird-minded antihero.—-so reminiscent of Emily Bronte’s, tortured Heathcliff.
Celia– Who is with whom makes little difference..
Most of the staring couples end up back where they began.
Victoria and Billy will eventually reunite, sigh..
I never cared for Lilly, she’s too phony for me- but many like her.
Anyways- every single couple on Y&R is horrible,
including Rey and Sharon..
It’s all the same story with all of them..
By spring’s end, Sharon and Adam will reunite..
And, again, Phillis and the boring guy are back doing the nasty.(replete/recycling of couples is Y&R–
I agree; grandma Anna is horrible with Finn-
Ahh, SusieQ—you crack me up, as usual. You say what’s on your mind, and that’s what I love about you—-we are so alike!!
Thompson should take a hike—so far, there has been nothing about his performace as Billy which ingratiates him to me. As I said, I was not familiar with the actor until Y&R.
You are probably right assuming that original couples end up together more often than not. Look at Victor and Nikki.
The soap is not worth watching any longer—- yet, I do watch out of habit and because of my addiction to soaps—three for me. I watched B&B at first, but as soon as Don Diamont ( sp) strpped in, I stopped watching. I was so relievd when he was killed off on Y&R. I used to either mute him or FF his scenes.
The guy’s face and voice, as unreasonably weird as it may sound, rub me the wrong way. What can I say? We like whom we like.
Well, keep on watchin’, my friend..
Dear Celia, I’m afraid I don’t like this Billy with anyone. And yes, his Patrick on GH was smug and sanctimonious also. He was always chiding Robin over her friendships with Sonny and Jason. Bore, bore, bore. No, he and Lily are a zero for me. I also liked the star-crossed Daniel & Lily story. I admit to rooting for Adam because Mark Grossman is so surprisingly great in the role. He had tough shoes to fill and, for me, he’s exceeded even Michael Muhney. And where are Kevin, Gloria, Paul, Jill, Ashley, Traci, etc.? Finally, and I’m truly sorry for any ill will, but this new Moses isn’t going to lead us to anything resembling the Promised Land.
Soaphound, I have finally come to see why you sing nuAdam’s praises—–he is truly outstanding. By the same token, I think Y&R is a mess these days.
It just pains me to see him with Sharon, nonetheless, even real life takes weird turns, at times.
I suppose age should not stand in the way of true love, right?? Sharon still looks old enough to be his mother. Whatever turns them on—-live and let live..
Yup—-Moses “ain’t gonna part no Red Sea”— he’s cute, albeit very insipid. Who knows, he may eventually surprise us.
Billy needs to be replaced—-for the umpteenth time!!
Then, there’s Abby. What is the point of this dramatic process? Is Camryn pregnant? Why choose Devon as the sperm donor? And, where is Chance? Makes no sense. There’s something to be said for women who go through a nine-month ordeal ( some pregnancies are not a piece of cake) for someone else—-I am neither that courageous nor so generous—-bless them!!
I wonder about the whereabouts of all those characters you mention, as well. Now, we seem to be stuck in this vicious circle —-Jack, Kyle, Summer, that Burgi person, his blah wife-ex-Kyle hanky-panky girl and Sally. So boring. Who cares? There is no meat on any of these boneheads. I see no real, tangible plot on the horizon, either.
Not the characters’ fault, but the writers’.
In the words of Emerson, “I wish to speak with all respect of persons, but sometimes I must pinch myself to keep awake…”
