Y&R's Stacy Haiduk Talks The World Of Crazy Patty & The Baby Secret That Could Shatter Sharon's Family!

Now that the kitties are about to come out of the bag, sort of speak, on upcoming episodes of The Young and the Restless, it looks like Sharon’s (Sharon Case) luck may have run out thanks to crazy Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk).

For months, Sharon has been hiding the fact that baby Sully is actually the late Sage’s son with Nick (Joshua Morrow), err really Adam, but that’s a secret for another time!  Thus, she has been raising the young baby boy as her bio-son with Dylan (Steve Burton).

On Thursday’s episode of the number one-rated soap opera, Dylan and Sharon visit Patty at Rivercrest, unnerving Sharon to such a major extent that it does not go unnoticed by Dylan.  Patty may have found her way to freedom, or may she have pushed Sharon over the edge to finally purge herself and reveal her deception?

On-Air On-Soaps caught up with the woman being the troubled and the crazy, actress Stacy Haiduk, at the recent premiere gathering for CBS Daytime’s 30 years at number one exhibit at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, now on display to the public through November 27th.

The exhibit offers a unique and creative window into the world of the CBS afternoon programming block of current shows, (Y&R, B&B, The Talk, The Price is Right and Let’s Make a Deal) as well as iconic series from the network lineup’s past including: As the World Turns and Guiding Light.

Haiduk took a walk with us through the festivities and answered some rapid fire questions into what makes Patty tick, and teases the fallout of the baby Sully reveal.

Patty is causing major trouble right now for Sharon!

STACY:  I don’t think she wants to cause trouble, I think she wants to get things straight.  As much as I love Patty, while she is in the midst of causing the love, she is also causing trouble, because she wants what she wants.

Does she want Sharon to pay for her deception?

STACY:  I think she wants Sharon to help.  She has empathy for Sharon, but because Sharon definitely knows what happened at Fairview, Patty would like to manipulate that into something to help Patty.  So since Patty sees herself helping Sharon, she wants her to do the same for her!   I think Patty deserves a little help.  (Laughs)

So, is playing crazy Patty easy for you to slip into when you are on set taping these scenes?

STACY:  No, because she changes.  She changes like I change in life.  But what’s funny is when I get on set, I always try to play her not so crazy, but she naturally falls into her place, which she does.  I love playing with everybody at Y&R, and I just love playing scenes with Sharon Case.

Courtesy/CBS

Elizabeth Bogush, who played Dr. Anderson, was so despicable of her treatment of Patty!  Ultimately, Patty killed her.  Now, Patty is not too happy about Mariah (Camryn Grimes) being up in her business, either. What can you say about working with Elizabeth and Camryn Grimes?

STACY:  Elizabeth Bogush was amazing.  Dr. Anderson was a terrible, mean, nasty woman!  And as much as my character despises Mariah, I love working with Camryn Grimes.  But as Patty, she thinks of Mariah, “No!  I don’t like you. You are going to make Sharon to this and keep this secret!” Patty doesn’t really like, or trust Mariah.

Does Patty clearly understand everything that happened with the baby Sully switcheroo?

STACY:  Yes she does, absolutely.  She is as sympathetic to babies, as she is to kitties, doggies, and other animals.  She wants it all to go the right place. Patty loves these sweet little innocent beings and things.  It’s all coming out, and unraveling, and it needs to happen, because it’s time.

Will she confess all to her brother, Pauly?

STACY:  She will see Pauly, but it’s a little difficult for her, because she wants to tell him the truth.  The issue with Pauly is that she wants to let it out all, but she can’t find a way, so she does it through her paintings.  Patty is beyond frustrated at this point.   I am telling you as an actress when I am looking into Doug Davidson’s eyes, I want so badly to tell him what Patty knows about the baby! (Laughs)

How many years now have you been on and off Y&R as Patty? Do you like coming back in for a “pop” with a big story arc, or would you like to be on full-time?

STACY:  I think I have been on the show on and off for six or seven years.  I would love to be on full-time, but they would have to do show that Patty always something off in the brain, and I don’t know if all of a sudden as an actress playing this part, I could all of a sudden be just fine.  But I love Patty.  This is such a fantastic character to come in and play.  I truly, genuinely, want to see where Patty will go, and what’s ahead for her.  It’s the one character in my entire life that I have played where I say, “No, no. no.  I have to see where she goes, I need to know.”

Courtesy/CBS

Will there be a showdown between Patty and Sharon that fans of the show are clamoring to see?

STACY:  Hmmm.  There might be a showdown with Sharon.  There might be.

So, have you been enjoying the performances of Stacy Haiduk?  Do you hope Sharon’s web of lies are finally brought to light by crazy Patty? How do you think the big reveal will go down on the baby Sully secret?

What will happen next to Patty? Share your thoughts and theories in the comment section below!

Adore this actress she really shows her emotions so effortlessly hate the storyline but love SH.

Love the storyline I hope the truth will come out soon because Nick needed baby Petty is playing a good p

Oh, Kay. I love ‘Patty’, also. She is just magnificent in portrayingn the disturbed, but good-hearted ‘crazy’ woman. I only wish TPTB coukd find a permanent place for her, sans the emotional/mental ‘upheaval’.
Stacy does have a point. How does someone go from a caged animal committing unthinkable acts to suddenly be free, becoming unhindered by any kind of mental issues ?
I have confidence and faith in TPTB . I know ‘they’ can fix it! Look at Franco ( GH). LOL.
Well, it could work!!!! Pleeeease!!!!!

I am not a careful watcher like many, however, one day Victor just said Scully was Adam’s. Never made sense to me. How on earth did he know (other than he is Victor.) I remain open to Nick being Scully’s father. Although that gives him a lot of children. Some things need to settle as all of us move on.

I love Patty and Stacy.

I wonder, if after they find out Adam is Sully’s father, if they would let Sharon and Dylan raise him since technically both his parents are dead. Well, we think. But as Steve Burton is leaving….but I wouldn’t be against the role being recast.

I think it’d be interesting if they did a DNA test on Sully and came back not as Nick’s child, then people would think Patty was wrong.

Considering good ol Victor knows the truth – that Sully/Christian is actually Adam’s son and he hates Sharon and Dylan, hell stop at nothing to stick it to them.
I think Nick would rally and being a stand up guy would take on the responsibility anyway and he,Chelsea,Conner and Christian would form a family – that is of course until Adam resurrects from the dead….again.

Would Nick want to form a family with Chelsea when he finds out that she knew that Adam was the father. All those times he was pouring his heart out to her and she didn’t say anything about it. Poor Nick is going to be brokenhearted yet again. Who will he be able to talk to and trust now. Not to mention world war three will erupt when he gets a hold of Victor, who of course is right in the middle of things as always. Stacy Hadiuk is phenomenal as Patty. And her scenes with Doug Davidson is icing on the cake. The chemistry is fantastic. The only reason I don’t want this storyline to end is because it might mean the end of Patty. And the end of Patty means the end of th incredible Stacy Haiduk

Hi, Lisa,
I wasn’t aware that Victor know that Sully is Christian. I thought he only knew that Christian was Adam’s and not Nick’s? I, also, thought Victor believes Christian is dead; otherwise, wouldn’t he do everything in his power to ‘snatch’ Sully if he were a Newman? His grandson?
But, I could be wrong.

That’s ok, Lisa. LOL, I was second-guessing myself. Do much going on; can’t keep it all im the filing cabinet in my head.
If I rebemer correctly, Adam knew Christian was his son, albeit I can’t remember how he found out.
Anyway, Adam bribed the technician ( how original, eh? LOL) to fudge the test to make it look like Nick was Christian’s father; so not to open a can of worms. He confessed this to Chelsea….thst’s how she knows. No one else knows, including Victor. I don’t think he has any idea.
It would be so simple if “Sully” turns out to be Nick’s…..too much to ask.
Later, Lisa.

I think this question was already asked, Mo. was it you? I think this would be up to the courts….and Sharon’s mental stability doesn’t help her in any way.
I would think that Christian would go to the closest relative if Nick is revealed not to be the father……which leads back to his marriage to Sage. Christian was born while Sage and Nick were married. Nick’s name, as the father, is on the birth certificate. So, legally, the baby belongs to Nick.
Again, in real life, this would be litigated in court.
But, my dear friend, Mo, this is Y&R…..

Sorry Celia I should have been more clear with my writing.
When Victor finds out that Christian is alive – he is Adam’s son and NOT Nick’s.
I didn’t know though that Chelsea knows the truth too – I must have missed that episode.

@Nanci.
Hi, Nanci.
You know; i really liked Travis. What changed? When? I really can’t put my finger on it.
I suppose it could be the fact that he is a newcomer to both the Newman family and Newman employee, but, takes it upon himself to slink snd skulk behind doors or by whatever means to get Jack?
Now, I ask…..what’s in it for him? Is it just an innocent gesture to show Victoria and the rest of the Newmans that he is trustworthy when all is said and done? Or, does he have a more nefarious agenda?
I wish Victoria would be more wary of the men she picks. And, why does she need to have a new guy in her life so soon? She should be allowed to lay ‘fallow’. LOL. Don’t laugh, it’s the best word that came to mind.
Look at Alexis (GH)……she is laying low where men are concerned. Good for her. That’s the way to go, for a while.
So, TPTB show give Victoria time to get her bearings.

Sharon Case hinted in her last interview that it might be revealed that Adam is not the father and that Nicholas is. She said the DNA results were always a bit sketchy.
I hope this is the case.

Yes, Mary! I agree..

SHE ALSO SAID THAT FOR SHARON ,IT WOULD BE BETTER THAT THE BABY IS ADAM’S SO HOPEFULLY HE IS ADAM’S ,

I missed a lot o this story for I wasn’t watching full time, but now I am since Sally and Kay are returning for I want to see how Y&R transforms back to the classic Y&R…I love Sharon Case and I am also enjoying seeing Stacy play this role.

Nobody on the show named Sally or Kay. Or actresses with those names. What show are u watching?? Goofball comment.

Dear Amazonia, Sally is a former writer, now new head writer and Kay is a former writer / head writer that is coming back as the story consultant. Keep watching for Y&R will ROCK once again starting on Dec 7th.

He is talking about the writing staff. New writers scripts will start airing Dec 7

Love Stacy Haiduk and her portrayal of Patty Williams, but this inane storyline needs to end – one of the worst storylines ever on “Y & R” – contrived, inane and utterly unbelievable!!

December 7th can’t get here fast enough for this 30+ year viewer!!

I’m ready for it to end, also.

Tucker ..
Soaps are and always have been ”’ contrived, inane and utterly unbelievable!!”’
It is fantasy/soap world- nothing is real. That is the cornerstone of soaps..
But– I can’t tolerate when it becomes asinine stupid or lame ((as GH, lately has become a HUUUGE crying jag, sigh )) ..

Y&R has held my attention, I’m good with it.

And;
Patty is a Williams ..
She needs to stay on !!

Hi, su,
Agreed. Well put: ” Patty is a Williams”. And, I will forever blame Jack for Patty’s mental disorder. He put her through so much, back in the day, from what my Gran said. But, I remember, even as a kid, what a debaucher Jack was. As you can see, I do not like Jack ( with a passion).
I think Patty was not ‘handled’ the way one deals with depression. This is the result.
Patty has the potential to become the heroine. She does have lucid moments. But, when a barrage of questions are asked of her, she becomes overwhelmed, and lashes out uncontrollably.
If she can open up to Paul, or the ‘perfect’ psychotherapist, without too much pressure, Patty would be able to expectorate everything that is so overwhelmingly stored in her heart . But, those thoughts, visions and memories are all jumbled up in her head.
I love Sharon, but this baby story needs to come out. What she is doing is “all-kinds-of-wrong”. Involving her own daughter to lie for her and with her….to place her in such a precarious position is pathetic. Sharon is nuts…..she has to be. No one, in her right mind, would aggravate an already complex situation by catapulting it sky high. Bad, bad, bad….
Everyone will be hurt. But, maybe this would be cathartic for Patty….steering her in the direction of healing.

Out of context, su.
But, I have a question. What’s up with Travis. I am getting weird vibes about him? Are you, su?
He is fishing….he tries too hard spreading his charm.
I trust your opinion. Is it just my imagination? I don’t think he’s on the ‘up-n-up’.

I agree, Celia. Travis is turning out to be much less than Victoria’s knight in
shining armor…too bad. She doesnt need another guy in her life to end up
being a jerk. To move him into her home with her kids so soon, too…just
stupid!!

Stacy Haiduk /Patty .. her portrayal of crazy Patty is phenomenal !!
When she is on my screen I don’t blink, she has my full attention..

I hope she will remain on my screen, someway somehow, she needs to stay.

Totally agree, Su.
Phenomenal is the word!
Stacy is a joy to watch onscreen, and
wish Patty could be on full-time.

I love the way Patti climbs over the back of her chair in the visiting room.

i agree about stacey.. her acting is mezmorizing
imo the new phylliss isnt working, michelle staffords the one and only . i think stacey shld stay on as the psychiatrist emily, treat sharon and patty andthe show should pair her back up with jack. the two were great together. phyliss without michelle is unnecesarry now. pair emily with jack and chloe with billy

Stacy Haiduk has truly taken the character of Patty Williams to new heights, and I have to admit, for the past year, she has been rocking the role. I, too, would love to see her full-time in Genoa City but, I feel like, she’d have to be more sane, and I don’t see that happening anytime for Patty. I’m hoping the new regime will cater to Stacy’s talents and allow for Patty to come and play for more than guest-stints.

I don’t know why one of the other shows has not put this actress into a contract role.

STACY AS PATTY IS TERRIFIC……WOULD SO LIKE TO SEE HER FULL TIME AND EVOLVE INTO A STABLE CHARACTER….HAVE REALLY HAD ENOUGH OF THE BABY STORY LINE THO AND SHARON GOING ON AND ON….LOVE PATTY AND PAUL TOGETHER…..STACY NEEDS TO STAY!!

Oh, my God—this story has me as captivated as when Sheila switched babies on the show so many years ago. This is being told differently but I am still begging for the secret to come out finally. It was agonizing watching it play out for as long as it did back then and it is just as painful to see this now although it really is great entertainment. I am glad this story has helped me escape my real life for that little bit of time every day.

I have watched y&r for decades I love Sharon Case and Steve Burton as a couple why remove his character why not recast Dylan with another actor. Also let Sharon and Dillon keep Sully not let secret out because of Victor being involved. Don’t let secret out!!

I think Dylan has had his fill of Genoa City and Sharon’s deception is the last straw. I sense he will return. (Paul deserves a solid relationship with one of his children!) There is more Dylan can do but now? I’d get out too!

I am eager to see how new writers handle the fallout of this stupid plot line that is a retread basically of what we saw with Sharon and Ashley, but also does nothing to endear us to Sharon or to give us encouragement this troubled woman can step up. I find it difficult to forgive Sharon for her actions anymore. And I see Nick and Sharon as a couple ultimately coming home to roost, I do not want it unless she can really prove to him and others she can handle life and do something!

I like Nick and Sharon too but they are to boring for the soap. As Sharon Case mentioned in her interview, she would not be with Y & R over 20 years if they did not diversify her character.

Nick and Sharon are a real couple. Sharon had more chemistry with Adam than Dylan.

Agreed, Cathy.
I want Christian to be Nick’s. Get Chelsea out of the picture, please!!!!
I am interested to see what TPTB will do with Sharon. Steve is leaving, as I said, to lick his wounds. So, that leaves Nick for Sharon, where he belongs.
Let’s hope he will feel compassion and understands that Sharon was not in her right mind. It would be great if Nick were the one to get Sharon the help she needs.
Yes, I know this will be for the umpteenth time, but I think Nick and everyone involved will be rattled and raging mad. But, after all is said and done….it’s Y& R.
What happens when Nick finds out about The baby’s true parentage. ( poor kid)…. Chelsea is just as guilty as Sharon. At least Sharon has a good reason. Yet, I hope the baby is, indeed, Nick’s. I am sure after all the cards are on the table, a paternity test will be in order.

I LOVE Patty & I am so not ready for her to leave Y&R yet. Ms Haiduk is an amazing actress who has long deserved a Daytime Emmy for playing Patty.

I will say this much about Stacy, she is a wonderful actress and a wonderful human being. She happens to be on one of my Facebook #YR groups and that’s where I met her. She actually liked my comments and even friended me on FB too.

I actually told her that I felt that she was robbed of an Emmy nomination during her first go around as Patty and as the psychiatrist that she played in that dual role. I really hope that the Emmy voters don’t overlook her again this time around. She’s been absolutely fantastic as Patty. She plays crazy to a T and does it so well but also includes some human nuances in there to make us all sympathize with Patty and where she’s been and where she wants to go.

#VivaLaStacyHaiduk

Michael Andrews: I so agree with your every word. You nailed it just as Stacy nails in with the nuances, the mannerisms, the fluctuating moods and yes, she does it with subtlety so she doesn’t rise up to become a comic book villain the way Sheila did.
And on to a more petty point; she is really, really very pretty with great bone structure.
This actress should be on every producers’ wish list.

I would love to see her back as the good doctor. Loved her in that role. Let her rekindle her rrelationship with Jack. That would really throw Phyllis into actiion. She could crack and become of her patients

While I love Stacy Hadiuk and her talents, I do not like the story line with Patty Williams. We can pity her for all her ills but she has done truly awful things. I fear Patty has been written into a corner. I am not sure I would like to see her out in the real world. I mean, look how the writers have treated Sharon and her mental illness! I loved Stacy Hadiuk with Peter Bergman when Ms. Hadiuk was playing Patty’s doctor. She was a smart, forward, attractive career woman who matched Jack and challenged him.

I agree, the writers should have never made Sharon bi polar.

Stacy does a fine job as Patty. GH has Heather and Y&R has Patty. Both are phenomenal actors and its a shame they are painted into a corner! One thing I didnt and dont like is I dont want Patty’s twin doctor to come back. She and Jack were horrible as a couple!

LOL. I had forgotten all about the ‘clone’ doctor. That’s rich, my Timmmy.

I’m not clear on what Patty has been diagnosed with. Is she schizophrenic?

The PTB would be wise to listen to an overwhelming majority of fans who want Stacy Haiduk’s ‘Patty’ to be on screen full-time. Y&R is on fire right now with this story, and Haiduk is mind-blowing as the often-tortured, psychotic, homicidal and beautiful ‘Patty’. More, please!

Christel Khalil Reveals She Almost Quit Acting After ‘That’s So Raven’ Audition, But Then Came ‘The Young and the Restless’

Published

The Young and the Restless fan favorite, Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) is the special guest on this week’s edition of Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart which dropped today on Tuesday, June 23rd.

During the interview with Rebecca and Greg, Khalil who had played Lily Winters on-screen since August of 2002, nearly 24 years with the CBS soap, shared how early on her teenage acting career, she was ready to call it quits in show business, after a heartbreaking audition for the lead of a new Disney Channel sitcom, which later turned out to be the hit seres, That’s So Raven, starring Raven-Symoné which ran for four seasons from 2003-2007.

Christel recalled what happened. “I was 14 and I had always auditioned for all these Disney projects. So I auditioned for That’s So Raven, it was between me and Raven-Symoné and it was called at the time Absolutely Psychic,” explained Khalil. “The character was this girl who had psychic ability, but then when Raven got the role, they named the title of the show after her.”

Photo: CBS

HOW A BROTHERLY TALK CHANGED THE COURSE OF CHRISTEL’S CAREER

Reliving the disappointment to Greg and Rebecca, Christel explained, “I lost that part and I was just so devastated, because for the network call there were 20 people in the room watching me, and I just have always had such performance anxiety. I just completely bombed the audition and it was terrible. So, I was just devastated. I was actually going to quit acting and then I got the final call for The Young and The Restless and I wasn’t going to go.”

It was Khalil’s brother, who actually got her to reconsider, and if he hadn’t, we would not have our Lily Winters in Genoa City! Christel recounted, “I was like, ‘You know what? I’m done. I don’t want to do this anymore. I’m just going to hang out with my friends.’ I was just devastated. My brother, who is seven years older than me, and he had quit acting at the same age that I was at that time. He said to me, ‘I promise you, I actually really regret quitting. Just go on this audition and if you don’t get it, you can quit.'”

Christel’s screen-test for the role of Lily was actually with the late, great, Kristoff St. John who would play her father Neil (Later it was revealed to Lily, that Neil’s brother, Malcolm Winters was her bio-dad).

Photo: CBS

ACTING WAS EASY WITH THE LATE KRISTOFF ST. JOHN

“So, I went (to test for Lily) and I remember the screen-test was with Kristoff St. John. It was just so easy to act with him because he’s just so there. I remember just being on set, and that was my first time there for a screen-test where you were actually on set. I had never experienced that before. It was my first time being with an actor and  having makeup done, which just helps you really be able to do your best work.”

Recalling the screen-test with the St. John, Khalil, “It was where I had to be emotional ( in the scene) and I always had issues being emotional at auditions. But I was there with him, it just came, and it happened. It was natural and I felt so good and it was amazing. It stands out in my mind a lot.”

You can check out the full Soapy conversation with Christel Khalil where she also discusses juggling motherhood, marital life, and the demands of soap operas.

Fan can listen to weekly episodes of Soapy on Audacy or wherever podcasts are available, and can watch full video episodes weekly on the CBS =Brand YouTube Channel. Whether a lifelong fan or discovering the genre for the first time, SOAPY offers a fresh, fun behind-the-scenes look at the stories – and storytellers – that define daytime drama.

Now let us know, over the years what had been your favorite Lily Winters story on Y&R as played by Christel Khalil? What did you think of of Christell’s recollection where she was up for the lead of “That’s So Raven” as a teenager, before it was even titled that? Let us know via the comment section.

Deidre Hall Marks 50 Years as ‘Days of Our Lives’ Dr. Marlena Evans

Published

on

By

If you have ever tuned-in to the soap opera genre over the last 50 years, and witnessed some of the greatest romances, drama, classic and outlandish storylines of all-time, you would have seen Deidre Hall smack dab in the middle of it as longtime Salem heroine, Dr. Marlena Evans.

It was 50 years on this date, June 21, 1976 that Hall first appeared on DAYS on NBC which was its home for 57 years before it moved to its current streaming platform on Peacock in September of 2022.

In Hall’s first episode she was introduced as a psychiatrist treating Mickey Horton (John Clarke) at Bayview Sanitarium after he suffered a complete mental breakdown. Mickey learned that his brother Bill Horton (Edward Mallory) was the biological son of Mike Horton (Wesley Eure) with his wife Laura (Susan Flannery) and that he had been lied to for years and years. From that moment on, the rest is television and soap opera history. Days of Our Lives put Hall front and center.

Photo: NBC

There were so many heartbreaking and shocking story twists involving the beloved Marlena. One of the first was the historic crib death of baby DJ (Don Jr.) in 1980, Marlena’s infant son with Don Craig (Jed Allan). The story had never been told on daytime television and Hall’s performances received accolades from TV critics to fans when Deidre received thousands of letters from grieving mothers who had gone through the same thing in their own lives.

DAYS also brought Deidre’s twin sister, Andrea Hall Lovell to the show as her on-screen sister Samantha, who had a grudge and even locked Marlena up in a sanitarium and took her place! Fast-forward and in 1982, DAYS launched the Salem Strangler story where everyone believed Marlena was his next victim, only it turned out to be Samatha. Jake Kositchek (played by Jack Coleman) was revealed to be the actual serial killer.

Later, Deidre would assume the role of Marlena’s look-alike, Hattie Adams in 2004, once played by her sister, Andrea. Over the years, Hattie has come back to Salem and caused trouble giving Hall a chance to play a different type of character, then the always upstanding Marlena.

Photo: JPI

THE LOVES OF MARLENA

Deidre Hall struck gold with all her leading men: from the late Jed Allan, to Wayne Northrop as Roman Brady, and of course, her enduring love story with the late John Black played by the iconic Drake Hogestyn. In fact, Marlena’s 1986 wedding to John (who was believed to be Roman at the time) remains a favorite of fans to this day.

TOP MARLENA STORYLINES OF ALL-TIME

While the list is long, here are several that were some of the memorable during Deidre’s five decades in Salem!

The Possession (1994- 1995)
Considered one of the most ambiguous, outlandish and unforgettable story arcs in soap opera history, then Days of Our Lives head writer, James Reilly went there! Marlena was possessed by the devil! That included; the demonic eyes, hissing at father John (Black) the priest, morphing into creatures, and the classic levitating in her bed! It became a cultural phenomenon and cemented Deidre Hall’s status as a daytime television legend. Just ask Ryan Gosling!

Photo:JPI

The Affair with John Black (1993)
John and Marlena’s forbidden love could not be denied and they had passionate affair, while she was still married to the real Roman. Problem was her daughter, Sami (Alison Sweeney) caught her mother having sex with John on a desk that changed Sami forever.

The Salem Stalker Mystery (2003-2004)
In a shocker, Marlena was revealed to be a serial killer who bumped off several Salem favorites residents who were all alive on the island of Melaswen (spelled “New Salem” backward). Turns out, she was manipulated and gaslighted by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) to do the “killings” and had no memory of her actions.

The Pier Scene (1991)
This remains Michael Fairman TV’s all-time favorite Deidre Hall moment, which featured some of the best acting in the storied careers of both Hall and Drake Hogestyn.

In the story, a presumed-dead Marlena returns after four years. One foggy night on the pier, John is alone, and Marlena steps out of the fog to reveal herself, and is reunited with the love of her life. You can watch it any year, any decade, and in any moment, and it will have you reaching for the hankies again and again. (best music score fo a soap scene of all-time too!)

Photo: NBC

Kristen’s Secret Room Reveal (1997)
Marlena was caught in Kristen Blake’s (Eileen Davidson) elaborate web of lies, when she was held hostage in a secret wine cellar/room until John managed to track her down, leading to an iconic on-screen reunion. The classic catfight between Hall and Eileen Davidson was one for the ages.

It should be noted that Maison Blanche, Queen of the Night, Possession, Aremid and Lady in a Cage were all a part of classic DAYS storyline and all featured Hall at the epicenter of it from 1993-1996.

THE RECENT YEARS OF MARLENA

In recent years, DAYS brought back the possession 2.0 storyline under then head writer Ron Carlivati in 2021 where the devil leapt back in Marlena after taking advantage of a frail Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes)

In 2025, viewers watched the end of the love story of John and Marlena, as John succumbed to injuries sustained in an explosion saving a vial of medication needed to bring Bo (Peter Reckell) back to life. Marlena has been a widow on-screen since June of 2025 as Hall as portrayed the good doctor struggling with her grief and to move on with her life since his death.

One story that never goes away is Stefano DiMera’s (the late Joe Mascolo) obsession with Marlena, his “Queen of the Night.” Even in death, Stefano is toying with her from the great beyond with the mysterious chess set and the missing “pawn,” that he had gifted John and Marlena in his will. The mystery is currently unfolding on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives.

Tune-in to Days of our Lives on the Monday, June 22 episode as Marlena looks back at her 50 years in Salem.
