Lexi Ainsworth Returning To General Hospital!

Here is some great news from General Hospital!

Daytime Emmy winner, Lexi Ainsworth (Kristina) is making a return to the ABC daytime drama series.

According to Soap Opera Digest, Lexi will return on-air later this summer.

When we last saw Kristina she left Port Charles with Parker (Ashley Jones).

What will bring Kristina back to PC? Will Parker be far behind, or will she not?

Wait – isn’t Brytni Sarpy also coming back as Valerie? I say that Kristina will return without Parker (which is good) and will explore her prior flirtation with Valerie.

This is exactly what I was thinking, too. Both come back at separate times, but they both pursue something within time.

With Dante gone and the search ongoing for a new Jordan, Valerie might be fulfilling some PCPD duties, as Chase can’t do it all.

Chase hasnt done anything yet!

One can hope. I thought they were a better pairing than Krissy and a woman old enough to be her mother. Even if they were only pretending to be a couple.

Well, in the tradition of Sonny & Carly and Dante & Lulu, I think another Corinthos/Spencer pairing is a Most Unholy idea!

I hope she get to stay longer then 5 minutes, every time they bring back, they put on the back burner instead writing a good story line for her. Chase would be a good match.

Hope Parker is left behind.!!!

Very glad Lexi is back but I wish Ashley Jones would come with her as Parker. It could happen down the road/

And I thought GH couldn’t get any more boring. Apparently I was wrong. Bad acting does win out. Every daytime actor has gotten an Emmy so it’s not a big deal any more.

That’s not true. I don’t think Kristin Storms has won an Emmy and we all love her.

I am proud to include myself as one of the many Pristina fans who have emailed, tweeted, and all out shouted loud and proud that we want Ashley Jones and Lexi Ainsworth on the air, online, and on-screen at General Hospital. These are 2 amazing actresses with too compelling a story to tell from a closet in Oregon. For over 50 years, soap operas have been a source of entertainment and enlightenment especially in regards to real life issues; medical/mental problems, political climates, sexuality, corporate avenues, etc. Now we have the LGBTQ community up in arms for the same amount of coverage and exposure as we’ve expected from many male/female power couples in the past and present. To the powers that be Frank Valentini and Nathan Varni, you’ve made a small gesture in saving whatever faces you have. Care to try your luck and make another one; bring back Ashley Jones WITH Lexi Ainsworth on the air, online, & on-screen at General Hospital.
These 9 months have been hell for a lot of passionate people because of the lack of respect for the soap opera vets, and the countless FV and NV pets/newbies crammed down our throats, and I’d like to think that time has ran out of Frank Valentini and Nathan Varni. But for right now, I’ll take a small victory and finish by saying, ‘My name is Tom Beavin and I am a soap fan.’

Tom, I was not going to respond to this particular Michael Fairman’s blog until I read your thoughtful, insightful and well written response. However, here is my problem with the Parker/Kristina story line. We didn’t see these two fall in love, we didn’t see Kristina crushing on Parker in the college classroom. If we saw it develop and flourish, then maybe, just maybe, we’d be supporting Kristina all the way. But what GH is doing as of late is pushing the PC story plot point ahead of character development. For instance, we meet a beautiful woman named Terry who is a transgender and before we meet her, we are privy to a rapid Sparks Note introduction to her delivered to us by Lizzy, who knew Terry in middle school. We aren’t allowed to get to know Terry before we know that she is in transition. Today, GH had a whole segment devoted to the Me Too movement. Do not get me wrong—I am all for the Me Too movement but using it as a plot device came off as preachy and boring. In fact, I fast forwarded through the whole thing. What I am trying to say is if the writers are going to tackle a PC topic, they must do so in such a way as to put the character first, and this particular plot device later. How to do it? Check out Bianca coming out to her mother Erica on AMC. Or Cindy, telling Stuart, the love of her life, that she has AIDS, To deliver effective story telling which incorporates PC issues of the say, the viewers MUST first care about the characters involved. Otherwise, it will not work.

harry..well said…its why im tuning out once Nelle;s story ends…the late Agnes Nixon would had written the Me2 thing as someting to remember and think about…GH is in a terrible state…too much focus on Parking Lot Peter…

Hopefully they will do exactly that with Valerie and Kristina

Harry, I agree with you re character development.

Beautifully expressed, Harry…..I, especially, love your comparisons to my other favorite soap (AMC), now defunct.

Nothing gets developed anymore Harry! Frank just pushes a social issue to try and get press and then he doesnt follow up on it. However, they did a nice service with the Kiki movement. The words were good and the scenes were shoot with some imagination. Where was Liz?

Holding onto Franco’s leash. I wonder if the poor man gets to go to the restroom alone? At least he was willing to help Jason get Carly away from Dr. Frankenstein, without Liz’s permission. Am not a Carly fan, but no one should have to be subject to what he was doing to her. I was surprised Nurse Ratched didn’t push for a lobotomy, she hates Carly that much.

Thanks everybody! And now I am opening my umbrella. Why, you might ask? Because I am about to say something which is politically incorrect, and and I want shield myself from the incoming rotten tomatoes. Ava talking about her Me Too movement had me laughing. Because with Ava you just know she was on the other side of the Me Too movement. In fact, while Ava was delivering her Me too memories you just gotta know that simultaneously somewhere in America there is a group of men who worked in an art gallery talking about their own Me Too moment. And the star of their Me Too moment? Yes, you got it-Ava Jerome.

No tomatoes here, Harry, rotten….or otherwise!!! You have ably nailed the very essence of that voracious predator of male flesh, Ava Jerome! Just as you aptly called the prior situation, which I also attempted to applaud, echo and expound upon given your previously well-put thoughts. However, my honest critique apparently was deemed not acceptable, even though my view of the storyline and the return of the particular character was strikingly similar to most here and was far more about the who, than the what. Ditto for CeeCee’s “aura” remarks…which were spot on!!!!

The ME TOO movement gets watered down by weak history. Take Les Moonves, 20 years ago he said something that was unacceptable TODAY and all the Libs want his ass! BULLSHIT! Did he drug someone? Rape them? Kill them? NO! Why cause trouble in this mans life? Albeit, a fabulous one, he does have a wife and kids, leave him be!

I’ve never liked Kristina and couldn’t care less if she comes back. You wanna bring someone back, start with Genie Francis.

Agreed

Can’t stand that snippy, snotty Kristina, and hope she leaves Mama Morgan in Oregon. I also didn’t like Valerie before, so guess I’ll be liking her a lot less, when she hooks up with Krissy.

Thanks, Violet. I was beginning to feel very lonely in my dislike of Valerie. I didn’t click with her since day one and the affair with Dante certainly didn’t help endear her to me. Instead of her, how about bringing Brandon Barash back as sexy bad boy Johnny Zacchara. Make him a nice guy now if they have to…it’s working for Julian. Cheers!

Soaphound, they can bring Johnny back any way, shape or form. Love that guy?

That’s pretty much it….in a nutshell!

I thought I was the only one who didn’t care for this character-she’s the female Morgan, a petulant, spoiled brat. NO. THANK. YOU.

Oh dmr, what is it about Sonny’s biological kids..All are self-centered, all are impatient narcissists…where do you think they get it? At least Bryan Craig was a sexy, talented actor whom I occasionally miss. But I don’t miss the character.

There is an old country song that fits these Corinthos kids, which includes Molly, called, Its Hard To Be Humble When You’re Perfect In Every Way.

True but better than snobby Molly!

I also want Genie back! Guess she is still smarting about the many times they have shafted her.

Genie was mentioned today, Soaphound. That’s a good sign, right? I hope so…..Miss that beautiful face a smile!!

If I were Genie, I would not return UNLESS they offered her a contract! Enough of this back and forth bull crap!

Yeah, T…..that’s exactly what needs to be done. Poor Genie probably feels in limbo—-neither here nor there.

Well, hmmm…. I was thinking that maybe Lulu gets in contact with her mother only to discover that Kevin did not visit her in Paris as he claimed. We saw a man in a straight jacket through the bleary, blurry perspective of a overly medicated Carly, who bore a strong semblance to Kevin…or Ryan. Who was that man in a straight jacket?

AMEN!!!!!!

No big deal, I hate her character lol.

I really can’t pin-point the reasoning, Gerry, but I didn’t likevKristina either. I thought dhe had a very negative aura.
I liked the previous portrayer so much!! I don’t remember her name, but she was on when I started watching GH.
She had flair, and a well-defined personality

Not interested in her character-she is as boring as Morgan

All I can say is thank you soap gods! Best news I’ve heard out of GH in a long time!

For Michael’s funeral?

I hope Parker comes back to because I would rather see Valerie with a hot guy.

Valerie and Chase would make one gorgeous couple!

Marla Adams, The Young and the Restless’ Dina Mergeron, Dies at 85

Marla Adams, best known for portraying matriarch, Dina Abbott Mergeron on CBS’ The Young and the Restless for 37 years, died on April 25, 2024, in Los Angeles. The news came from Y&R’s Director of Media and Talent, Matt Kane.

Throughout her veteran soap opera career, Marla appeared had appeared on Secret Storm (in her other longest running soap role as Bell Clemens from 1988-1974), The Bold and the Beautiful (ex-Beth Logan), Days of our Lives (ex-Dr. Claire McIntyre), Generations (ex- Helen Mullin), General Hospital (ex-Mildred Deal) and Capitol (ex-Myrna Clegg).

However, it was her role as Y&R’s upper crust Dina, who abandoned her children and her marriage to John Abbott (the late Jerry Douglas) that was her most memorable role. Throughout the years, Dina would have several romantic reunions with John, but in 2017, the character returned to Genoa City to reunite with her estranged family. Dina was the on-screen mother to Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).

She returned to Genoa City for stints in 1991, 1996 and 2008 before being asked by then Y&R head writer-producer Sally Sussman to return in 2017, which would begin the top-rated daytime drama telling the story of Alzheimer’s disease. Speaking with Michael Fairman TV, Marla shared on her final scenes on Y&R when Dina passed away and was reunited with John Abbott, “It was heart-wrenching for me.  In the story, Dina died when she went outside and to the front door of the Abbott home.  They did not tell me before-hand, and that’s why it was so wonderful.  I hope they came in for a closeup of that because I had no makeup on, it was beautiful, and then, Dina said, “Oh, John.”  I’ve done everything from movies, to daytime, to nighttime, to Broadway, but that was the iconic moment for me, to do this gig with wonderful, wonderful actors and friends, and to do this particular storyline.

Born in Ocean City, New Jersey, on August 28, 1938, Adams’ love for the stage was ignited after winning the Miss Ocean City and Miss Cape May pageants and finishing as a runner-up in the Miss New Jersey pageant. She also fondly remembered being the Miss Diamond Jubilee Queen during the 1954 celebration of the 75th anniversary of Ocean City’s founding.  A student at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Adams appeared on Broadway in the 1958 production of The Visit at the Morosco Theatre with Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne and starred as June in the 1961 feature film, Splendor in the Grass

Over the span of her decades long career, Adams starred in more than 40 productions including television’s: The Golden Girls, Hart to Hart, The Love Boat, The New Dick Van Dyke ShowHarry OAdam-12Starsky and HutchMarcus Welby, M.D.Barnaby Jones, and the feature film, Beneath the Leaves.

In a statement, Y&R’s current head writer and executive producer, Josh Griffith expressed, “On behalf of the entire company of The Young and the Restless, we send our deepest sympathies to Marla’s family. REPORT: Nicholas Chavez Not Returning to General Hospital

For those who were holding out hope that Daytime Emmy winner and fan favorite, Nicholas Chavez would be returning to General Hospital after filming his leading role in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters anthology, it looks like those hopes have been dashed.

According to a report from TV Line, although unconfirmed from General Hospital or a representative for Chavez, the actor will not reprise his role as Spencer Cassadine on the long-running ABC soap opera and continue the love story of Sprina opposite Tabyana Ali (Trina, GH).

Chavez was cast as Lyle Menendez over the the summer of 2023 for the second season of Murphy’s limited Monsters series on Netflix. In the upcoming season, the series will focus on the the case of Lyle and Erik Menendez, the two well-to-do Beverly Hills brothers accused of murdering their parents in 1989.

After word from Chavez casting was revealed, GH fans were concerned over the fate of the Sprina story, a spokesperson for GH shared,  “We support Nicholas’ endeavors and look forward to having him return to General Hospital once this project is wrapped.”

In story, the series “killed off” Spencer when he went overboard with Esme to the steely waters below after being injected with a drug, thanks to Esme and falling into the Seine River in France. However, his body was never recovered, and believed to have drowned or washed away. Thus, leaving an opening for Spencer to return in the form of Chavez or be recast down the line.

TV Line shared that ‘multiple sources’ are confirming that Chavez is not returning to the ABC soap opera, which is what many had suspected might be the case once he left for this major starring role in a Ryan Murphy project. Chavez has been relatively quiet on social media for months.

The Michael Fairman Channel spoke with Nicholas Chavez for a virtual interview when he first joined the show in 2021, and spoke to him right after when he won the Daytime Emmy in 2022 – you can see those below.
