Former One Life to Live Star Brandon Buddy Arrested For DWI!

Another young actor has been arrested for a DWI and this time it’s former One Life to Live star Brandon Buddy, who has had some previous trouble with the law.

The actor who played Cole Thornhart opposite Kristen Alderson’s Starr Manning on ABC’s One Life to Live from 2006-2010 apparently was busted on Sunday in his home state of Texas, when cops were alerted!

Apparently an  intoxicated Buddy — covered in scratches – was seen taking off in his car after grabbing beer at an Austin gas station. This is according to a report from TMZ, and the mug shot provided by the entertainment news outlet accompanying the story.

After being stopped, an allegedly semi-conscious Buddy was evaluated at a nearby hospital and arrested.  But in addition the report goes on to say,  “Brandon is being investigated for possessing dangerous drugs,” because the police found prescription drugs in his car on January 4th of this year as well.  In the past, Buddy reportedly had some other issues with substance abuse during his time at One Life.

This is not a story we like to report, since Buddy did such an admirable job in the role of the troubled Cole of Llanview.

This makes me sad. Loved Brandon on OLTL he showed a lot of promise. I know others are going to judge but I will not. I’ve never been in his shoes and don’t know what he’s been through. I just hope he gets help and finds peace.

Thank you Ron, and God Bless You. Those who chose to judge him are wrong. There by the grace of God go I….

Well said, Ron. This is a very sad story. Hope for the best for his future and he gets the help he needs. Glad no one else was hurt in this incident.

He may have done a great job as Cole but he sure is making a mess of his real life…ive been under a lot of stress and being treated for severe anxiety but i dont drink nor i dont use drugs…whatever his reason there is no excuse for it…we all know drugs and alchol can lead to bad things-some tragic…its happen in my family…why so many do not wake up…why do they think the worse wont happen to them or do they want it to…i hope he gets the treatments and punishment he deserves…maybe the latter will be his wake up call…if not, all i can say is that its your life and if you want to do good in it or bad the choice is yours…and if you make the wrong choice you only have yourself to blame!!!

I, also, jimh. I went through so much in my life….my baby died a few years ago…..never was I tempted to go down that road of destruction. However, not all of us are that strong mentally.
Brandon is still young enough to help himself. There is always hope.
I won’t say, “Will they never learn?” because it would be too insensitive….I will say, “when will it stop?” Very, very sad, indeed.

CeeCee, i really dont know what to say but i do share your pain…i had to bury my baby nephew 15 years ago whom i named Jesse James(Jesse for my late mothers aunt not the outlaw) and wouldve raised him had he lived…it was very hard to do…if i could write my life story it would suprise many that i never turned to drugs and alcohol!!!

Cee Cee,

I am so sorry for your loss. I can imagine no other greater loss! Bless you..

Always enjoy your posts!

Aw JimH,

So sorry for you loss! It’s not quite the same, but my 17 year old handsome, popular, talented nephew committed suicide last year. We thought he was happy. From the outside looking in we thought he was content. Also tragically my 19 year old brother from drinking and driving.I’ve never drank & drove as a result, but have needed medication a few times over some tragedies and it is very addictive. I am a lucky one, I dug my way out before I got the the point of no return. It’s very hard, but it an be done. I hope this young, talented man gets it all straightened out. Prayers.

Thank you, Laurie.

And, here comes the shaming and judging.

My opinion like it or not…he is a grown man who knows what he is doing…everyone makes mistakes including myself(stupid mistakes not lawbreaking which is a big difference)…mistakes are something one does by accident…he made his choice to use drugs and alcohol which is dumb move but his CHOICE…he got caught and now must pay for breaking the law…enough said!!!

I take your point, Mitchell1660—but sometimes what you are terming “shaming” and “judging” is appropriate. I could equally term it “holding him accountable.” As jimh noted, he made choices—some very bad ones. They could have gotten somebody killed.

The part of his sad story that has to do with substance abuse purely, I have tremendous compassion for. I cannot imagine what that is like, and I wouldn’t presume to judge anybody’s breaking point, or the combination of factors that might result in someone’s ending up with a serious abuse problem, which it sounds as though BB clearly has. But I do draw a hard line when we cross over from that to doing things that could harm others. Nobody should be expected to have sympathy for that, regardless of the cause. So yes, frankly, I do “judge” him harshly for that part, and if calling him out for it is going to be labeled “shaming” (speaking of judging and shaming) so be it. As I said elsewhere, I hope the judge finds a sentence that takes both aspects into account: the fact that he clearly is suffering and needs help, and the fact that he’s done something serious that put people around him in danger and was d***ed lucky nobody did get hurt or killed. I’d hate to see him penalized in a way that would destroy any possibility of a real future, but I also think he needs a wake-up call (and if he doesn’t get one, he’ll destroy any possibility of a real future on his own anyway, and possibly take other people with him).

Stupid!!!

Simply stated, we are all human and we all do stupid things. Let’s get out of the judgment seat and just send out some positive energy to this young man. He is gonna need all the help and positivity he can find right now. When all this stuff gets made public it causes an even worse pain. I am grateful that all my many mistakes have been fairly private. I can’t imagine the world knowing my stupid mistakes. Brandon Buddy, I send you good thoughts for the mountain you are going to have to climb. It won’t be easy, nor will it make much sense but I’m pulling for your ability to overcome.

Thank you for your warm , heartfelt response. The world needs more people like you.

God be with you….

Mateo,

Nice post. I agree. I feel I’m a great person w/great friends and husband, but I’ve done idiotic things in my life-many times. I can’t even imagine if it was broadcast for the world to see & hear. I pray this young man gets the help he needs and comes back strong.

I tend toward compassion too—I’ve done my share of dumb things, though not this particular one—but let’s also remember he could have killed someone. He got lucky this time.

We’re not talking about one of those situations where his blood alcohol was .09 or something (I choose that number because it’s “legally drunk” in some states but not in others—and that drives me crazy) and there could be debate on whether he was drunk enough that he couldn’t be driving. He’s described as “semi-conscious.” There was no question that he was a danger to himself and others.

I hope the judge imposes a meaningful sentence that will be motivational to his getting himself cleaned up, and that he does get the help he needs.

One never knows what someone is going through to push him/her to substance abuse, and I pray I’m never tested in that way—but I think we have to be careful and draw a line, too, and temper compassion with a hard reality check: there can be no justification for putting other people at risk. If someone is maimed or killed because you’re behind the wheel of a vehicle when you’re too drunk/high/whatever to function, he or she isn’t any less injured or dead because you were going through what anybody would grant was a really rough period.

I hope this really unfortunate incident marks a turning point for him.

Sad, he had promise as an actor, but there is never an excuse to get drunk and drive.

I am so sorry to hear this. From what I saw of him on OLTL, he has real potential for a strong career. I hope he will learn from this and make better life choices before destroying his life and the lives of others.

Obviously he has a problem and I truly hope he receives the help he needs. Life can be EXTREMELY difficult and if you don’t have someone who cares and will kick you in the ass when needed, it can be a lonely and traumatic time – I’ve been there. God bless him.

Sad news. Hope he straightens his life out.

He is a gifted young actor. I pray that he learns from this huge mistake, and am grateful no one was hurt. I hope to see him back on the tv or movie screens soon.

whenever you hear of an OLTL actor in trouble, you kind of wish viki would walk in and set them straight.

Let’s remember the great role he played Patrick and Marty’s son! I mean any Llanviewers out there remember” “MARTRICK”. ? I mean Patrick the Irish poet and Marty Saybrook the rape survivor ? That was soap at its best! It broaght two great actors together, an EMMY award for her – and one of the great television stories.

I realize now I am just missing the golden days of OLTL and not even thinking of that poor little Actor. Good luck to you mr Brandon! You were lucky. Please learn.

I loved Patrick and Marty. Susan Haskell and Thorsten Kaye were terrific together. I so wish Susan was working again.

Weren’t Susan and Thorsten together in real life too, or did I imagine that? (And are they still?)

Susan is such a unique talent and I am in agreement with you that she should be working too!

Still miss OLTL three years later!

REALLY?!?!? Y-E-T ANOTHER soap star arrested for DWI!!!!! When, oh when will this irresponsibility and stupidity EVER END?!?!? THOUGHTLESS IDIOT!!!!!

As to a little insight on her new role of Felicity in Salem, Garcia shared. “She is sweet, funny and kind. She is also very smart and she never misses anything. Most of all, she loves her family more than anything else. I think that viewers will love her and see the beauty she brings to everyone in her life.”

The actress added, “I hope that everyone will love Felicity and see that even though she has Down syndrome, she is cherished by her family and friends, she is capable of great things, and she’s a hard worker. I’m pretty sure she bakes better than I do. She is also a typical teenager who has real feelings and fears that people will see as her story goes on. I hope no one underestimates Felicity as a character, or actors with disabilities like me. Representation is so important and I’m so thankful for this opportunity to become Felicity and let you all get to know her, and me!”

Giovanni Mazza On Contract at General Hospital: What Are Your First Impressions?

This week, General Hospital introduced newcomer Giovanni Mazza in the role of Giovanni Palmieri, who apparently is Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) second cousin, one removed or so the story goes.

The character of Gio showed up at Brook Lynn’s wedding to Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and played the violin at the ceremony. As has been previously reported, Mazza in real-life is a professional violinist and actor.

Upon making his first appearance on the ABC daytime drama series back on May 15th, fans wondered if Gio will be sticking around and that was confirmed by the closing credits of the May 17th episode where Mazza’s name is included along with other contract players.

When the news of Mazza’s casting was announced, the talent young man took to his Instagram and shared the good news, expressing, “I am so honored, grateful, and ecstatic to announce the big news! The biggest thank you to General Hospital for bringing me.” He closed his sentiments with “So much love and joy to my new fam! YAY!!! ”

Commenting on his post included new castmates Evan Hofer (Dex) saying, “Happy to have you brother,” plus Tabyana Ali (Trina), Eden McCoy (Joss) and ABC executive Nathan Varni who said, “Congratulations! Welcome to GH!

During the May 17th episode, Gio had an exchange with Dex, where he mentioned that his father was in the military back in early 2000’s.  Previously, Gio revealed to Chase that his father died in the military when he was young. So this begs the question, who is Gio’s dad?

What were you first impressions of Giovanni Mazza in the role of Gio? Who do you think he might be romantically involved with and might be also related to other than the Cerullos? Comment below.

Michael Easton Shares on the Loss of Kamar de los Reyes, “I Was Holding His Hand When He Passed”

For the first time publicly, General Hospital’s Michael Easton (Finn) opened up about losing his best friend, the late Kamar de los Reyes (ex-Antonio, OLTL) to cancer.

The former One Life to Live and All American star lost his battle to cancer back on December 24, 2023 at the age of 56. De los Reyes leaves behind his wife, actress Sherri Saum (ex-Sunset Beach, OLTL) and their twin boys, Michael and John, and his eldest son, Caylen from a previous relationship.

Easton along with Y&R’s Trevor St. John (Tucker) were both castmates with Kamar during their time on One Life to Live. The two shared their remembrances this past Thursday night during’s live virtual event, Daytime Stands Up – A Benefit for Stand Up To Cancer … We All Have a Story.

Photo: Robin Platzer

In tribute, Michael expressed, “It was a 30-year friendship with Kamar. We did our first movie together in 1990. I was scared and I was quiet and I was instantly drawn to his bravado and his sense of himself. Kamar was larger than life. He was the best man at my wedding, and I am the godfather to his son, Michael. His loss was profound on all of us.”

He added, “There hasn’t been a day gone by that I haven’t thought of him, and his family and what he brought to this world, and the contributions he made, not only to this acting community. He loved being an actor and he was a great actor. I always like to say Kamar was such a good actor that they cast him as a priest, not just once, not twice, like seven times. I mean, he was often shirtless. But, if you needed a shirtless priest, Kamar was your guy.”

When discussion turned to the end of Kamar’s life, Michael shared, “I was holding his hand when he passed, and he was surrounded by family and, and friends. There was so much love around him. I mean, he touched so many lives. I mean, Trevor knows that at his memorial, it was the biggest, at Forrest Lawn. They couldn’t even fit everybody in. There was people stretched out all the way to outside. People showed that hadn’t seen him in 20 years. That was the effect. So many of the One Life cast members came and cast from All American.”

Michael also spoke to Kamar’s determination till the end and his incredible work ethic, “Extraordinarily enough, he went to work two weeks before he passed at All American.  He was fierce to the end. He never talked about being sick. Even though the odds were stacked from the very beginning, and it’s still really hard for me to talk about, but I was in awe of his strength and his resolve. I would’ve shut down long before he did.”

If you haven’t done so watch below 46:47 mark for Michael and Trevor’s emotional appearances on Daytime Stands Up as they share their memories on Kamar.
